Losing Again
I saw exactly zero innings of the game last night so I can’t really comment on what happened. The box score looks unkind. If you think a regular guy like Santana shutting us out is bad wait till you get a load of the stuff Berrios has. Bendy shit for days.
Belmont Stakes day so I’ll see you guys later this afternoon…..
We lost Adam West today. For me, this show was absolute must-see TV when I was a kid.

RIP to Adam West. As a kid, I really liked that show. My favorite baddy was The Penguin.
Anyway, the Giants woes have even got me getting ticked at Marty Lurie. I like Marty. But, he continues to go off on a tangent Giants pitching. Really? This team is the worst offensive squad in the league, probably in both leagues, getting shutout regularly. Talking about Moore and pitching in the face of a season long epic face plant on scoring is just kind of silly…
Cards just went 0-7 on road trip, now 6 games below .500. That’s great compared to where the Giants are.
But, Cards decided this was unacceptable. The GM Mozeliak said “”This is a breakdown on many levels… What today represents is people are being held accountable for what we need to do.” That’s right, they held people accountable. What a concept. They didn’t just throw up their hands and say the canard, “Oh, well, its all on the players — they’re not performing, so we can’t blame any management.” From reports: “The Cardinals reassigned third-base coach Chris Maloney within the organization, and Mike Shildt will move from the quality control coach to the third-base coach box. Bill Mueller took a recent leave of absence, and he will not return to the same role as assistant hitting coach. Mark Budaska will take over in that role. Ron “Pop” Warner will also join the coaching staff.”
Giants woes are far worse. What do they do? Freakin’ nada…
I hear ya, but I wouldn’t call those big changes by the Cards.
I’d call moving the third base coach in mid-season a pretty big deal in baseball. Giants waited until the offseason, tho it was obvious fairly early on last season Kelly had to go. You move 4 guys in mid-season, that’s not nothing. It’s a message to the manager, too. Metheny is basically now on report. Compare — the Giants have been in free fall across essentially a season now, last year and this. They did move Kelly and Hays in the offseason. But, that obviously wasn’t enough. More moves need to be made. Cueto let the cat out of the bag that the clubhouse isn’t right, maybe to leverage the team to trade him, maybe out of frustration. But this free fall can’t be just just on the players. St. Louis realizes this and acted. I’d like to hear from BF’s Cards’ blog guy Shoptaw about what he thinks…
This litany of woes sounds like the Giants…

I’m just not sure the changes match the gravitas of calling a press conference and the things the GM said. I guess the biggest thing is putting Matheny on high alert.
Adam West RIP Bruce Wayne…Penguin was cool, Liked the Riddler, and Mr. Freeze as well.
Mr. Freeze kind of like the Giants Frozen offense…
not feeling super excited about the Belmont today but I will be playing J Boys Echo in all spots. Not sure he can win but think he’s a great longshot play in the exotics (exacta, tri, super). And the race before the Belmont, I’m spotting Ascend in all spots (1-4). He’s got a class issue but will be huge odds and that closing kick looks legit.
Freaking Working!!!
But I’ll go with the Trifecta San Carlos, Belmont& Palo Alto..
I understand Pablo is hitting .205 this year but if he can’t get a start against Verlander the Red Sox should just wave the white flag and release him now.
Pretty sure Kokonuts is in one of these frames if you know where/when to freeze it
Agent 0 starting at SS today for Twins.
If he goes 2-4 with an RBI, we better start looking for Giant’s voodoo dolls with pins in them at ATT…
If Adrianza beats the Giants with a hit today, just shut the season down.
Giants announce they will be forfeiting the rest of their games.
Agent 0, over 37 Twins ABs so far, is hitting .297…
long pants didn’t help Hunter. I don’t know how anyone hits this wiffle ball pitcher, ever.
He made a mistake to Belt, a low-ish fastball on a 3-2 count. The out pitch there has to be a fastball high in the strikezone.
Belt’s a very good hitter. He can do anything.
I’m wondering what the baseball equivalent would be of last night where the refs called 22 fouls on the Dubs in the FIRST QUARTER. The home plate ump calling a ball on every pitch thrown by Samardzxxxx to the Twins first 9 batters?…
That sort of reminds me of MadBum’s start vs. the Twins in 2011, when he gave up hits to 9 of the first 10 batters — his only out was the pitcher — before finally getting the hook.
Agent 000. Predictable.
I don’t ask for much here but I would like some extreme props for my 12pm post. Ascend just won at 27-1. BOOM!
Just watched it, nice job!
thanks. Whatever you do, don’t bet J Boys Echo. I’ve been on an unreal heater that has to end, probably on him. But besides hitting the pick 3 and trifecta in last race, I’m getting paid on the pick 4 AND the pick 3 in the Belmont on the following horses: 2,3,4,7. Wish me luck!
Pence is awful at the plate.
Would anybody take him and 1/2 his salary, and his wife? I’m not really sure I care what the return is. He’s dropped off a cliff in durability and production…
Damn, Flav. Nice payoff. The reffing was fucking ludicrous last night. If we get a game reffed that way in our favor, we’d win by 40.
well today has been a very, very good day…..
The Giants have won 41% of their games since last July.
And, sold out every home game …
Craw’s OPS is in the .600s now. It just seems like a lost season for him. His wife is suffering the trauma of the death of her sister. That’s a mentally and physically draining thing for Craw, too. I cut him a break on that.
Giants had bases loaded with one out in this game, with Craw and Pence coming up. They both struck out. That’s about the size of this season. Absolute pffffftttt at the plate. It’s not a slump when this has been going on, like zum notes, since last summer. That’s a whole season of pffffffffftttttt. You blow up a team with pffffffttttttt like this…
I’d like to hear James take on the season. He’s usually so rosey about the offense and all the runs they average per game. He can’t possibly fake his way into believing this team is hitting enough this year. But who knows? Maybe he’d try?
I think he did say that if Moore and others have ERAs in 4.50 range, Giants will be in big trouble, which is pretty spot on tho for a different reason.
Pence’s OPS is in the .500s now. Yikes.
marty lurie asked a caller, “Is Pence done?” The caller thought he was and has been for a while after his ironman years—hurt, then once he starts to hit he gets hurt again and had to find rhythm all over again.
As much as everyone loves the guy, Lurie said, “But you have to produce!”
I haven’t yet heard Sabevans actually call this one a bad penny year, but I could see them thinking that way. Really, it’s only a bad penny year because the front office didn’t go out and spend any good pennies where needed….
also heard Lurie voice this concern, while wondering about Posey legacy as he put it.
He asked callers to weigh in on Posey turning into Mauer, a former C who now plays 1b but with subpar numbers at that position, which obviously makes him look bad.
Lurie out loud wondered if this is why posey refuses to go to1b full time, as it would ruin his legacy as a HOF C.
Really surprised to hear him say this but this was during discussion on his lack of rbis, 20 I think as of today here in June while batting cleanup, and how few he has actually driven in with RISP.
I didn’t hear Lurie but I’ve been thinking about that lately. Is Posey a legit HOF level player? What about Bumgarner? Maybe eventually they both are but if not has there ever been a team that had a similar 3 in 5 run without at least one HOF player?
Bochy, of course, will get in. All other managers who won 3 are in.
Posey has a better chance than Bum, but the key for either the rest of the way is longevity. This lost season for Bum really hurts his chances.
Posey, if he stays healthy, should make it in.
Posey has won every major award. What award has he not won? How many catchers ever did that?
wow Roberts takes out his SP Wood with 2 on 2 out 4-1 lead and guy he brings in gives up 3 run bomb to Reds Devin Mesoraco that ties score.
Bellinger kid hit his 13th HR and the Taylor kid in CF has one running catch to save a double off the wall and another in front of RCF wall. Where do they find these guys?
They’ve made some nice pick-ups lately. And some guys are having career years this year, like Alex Wood. It’s up to the Dodgers to try to cash that in, finally, this year. The “Kershaw window” won’t be open forever.
They picked up this Fields guy off the scrap-heap, and he’s pitching lights-out this season.
Fields flubbed on a pitch tonight, but in general he’s been very good.
Maybe he’ll start to wear down. They’re using him a lot.
Charlie Steiner is not an awesome play-by-play guy.
Steiner said the Dodger pinch-hitters are hitting .288 this season. That’s insane.
More insanity:
Turner is hitting .333 when he has two strikes on him.
Jansen set a major league record by starting the season with 40 strikeouts and no walks.
The terrible Puig gets two hits and scores the winning run.
Flavor: Incredible handicapping! How do you do it? TVG should grab you…
You have seriously amazing instincts. Maybe the best I’ve seen and I go back a long way…
thanks, appreciate the props from someone who knows. The Ascend call was my best this year. Non horse racing folks don’t know how difficult it is to give out a single horse at 27-1 and have him win the race. Grade 1 no less.
Is there anyone easier to pitch to than Pence? He chases balls and looks at strikes.
It’s almost comical…
