Moore Emotion Please

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on July 8, 2017

Well, I got the o/u call correct. No thanks to Matt Moore who sucks shit. Baggs noticed that the AT&T crowd seemed pretty disinterested when Moore came off the mound. That’s lame. Boo the bejesus out of him. If he doesn’t think the fans care why should he? And maybe it’s just his temperament but he sure seems like he could give or take any of this in his post game interviews.

The fans don’t care. Moore doesn’t care. What is going on here? Since when is any of this nonsense acceptable?????

I want heads to roll. I want guys getting fired. Or released. Or benched! Let’s go!!!!!!!

This one was over so early, with Giants doing nothing vs. Straily while Marlins took extended BP off Moore, there wasn’t ever anything to get excited about.
Even Cain isn’t this bad; they have to find mystery shoulder injury or something and put him on the DL.

Even walking off the mound Moore never looked very concerned, but he’s in Zito territory.

Oh and a word of caution about watching Vegas summer league b-ball, which does feature some premier draft picks like Fultz. What I saw last year was awful, worse than garbage time NBA. J-M McAdoo lit it up, and he’s terrible.

    • Flavor said, on July 8, 2017 at 6:59 am

did you see how bad Lonzo played? He looked like a hs kid out there. Simply awful

Hey, that’s the second coming of Magic Johnson you’re talking about there. Just ask his dad.

If they bring back the same team next year, why not try to shake them up with a new manager and coaching staff?

    • Flavor said, on July 8, 2017 at 7:21 am

the next manager is going to be Wotus. I can’t imagine he’ll shake anything up. 342+ teams have passed on him over the years……

  4. willedav said, on July 8, 2017 at 7:07 am

fun fact: best game I ever had was summer league before senior year. I got 16 points (reg season career high was 4) on pull up Js and signature one handed flip teardrop shot (ala lenny Wilkens) in the lane.
Unfortunately, guy I was supposed to be guarding got 30 for our crosstown hated rivals and they blew us out.

  5. alleykat69 said, on July 8, 2017 at 7:33 am

It cannot be Wotus if he couldn’t crack a Manager job with the 3 titles he will never get a gig.Giants staff is just too old and it’s caught up with them. They need to bring in a younger staff with a fresh new approach and vision..
Hell probably the players secretly think that as well..

    • djloo27 said, on July 8, 2017 at 7:52 am

I agree it’s desperately needed – and it’s not disrespectful to Bochy (who probably wants out) and the rest of the staff. It’s the way things have always been done.
They’ve all been in the game long enough to know that…

    • willedav said, on July 8, 2017 at 7:58 am

Nevin managed at AAA level in the Int’l league. I always thought that hiring him was a signal move to be more than 3b coach. gotta wonder if Wotus is another one of those we’re not that far away/ part of the problem guys.

  6. Macdog said, on July 8, 2017 at 7:56 am

Funny about the non-booing, right about when Moore finally got out of the 1st, Tyler Clippard, who’s been dreadful for the Yanks, gave up a grand slam and the Yanks fans did not exactly hide their displeasure.

  7. sandog said, on July 8, 2017 at 8:09 am

I got no problem with Bochy and Wotus et al. I think they need to fix the ballpark and find 2 good outfielders.
I still hold out hope the pitching and infield are in the midst of a Brad Penny year and will bounce back next year.

  8. wilcojoe said, on July 8, 2017 at 8:20 am

I will be in the Bay Area from the 16th of July to the 22nd. Renting a beach house in Pacifica for a couple nights. Taking the boys to Alcatraz, Fishermans Wharf, all the touristy shit. Taking my eight year old to AT&T for the first time. Probably going to the Indians game on the 17th. At least tickets for that one should be cheap. I noticed the A’s are at home that week as well. May even take Bart to the Coliseum to catch an A’s-Ray’s game.

    • James said, on July 8, 2017 at 9:06 am

I got some Club levels near home for $70 on the 17th, fees included. Not sure if that counts as cheap or if I got totally ripped off.

      • wilcojoe said, on July 8, 2017 at 9:33 am

The club level is my preferred spot as well. Seems to be the same for most of the Flap. How is the field club? I saw seats for last nights game on Stubhub (a couple hours before first pitch) behind the Giants dugout in the field club for around $75. I am assuming for a Monday night game they will be even less.

      • James said, on July 8, 2017 at 9:59 am

Field Club is awesome, especially with kids in tow. Behind the scenes, you can boo the players as they pass from the field to the locker room. 😉 There’s a batting cage where you can watch the A. Rowands on the roster work tirelessly on their swings, too.

    • James said, on July 8, 2017 at 9:09 am

We plan to blithely enjoy a nice cocktail and our crab sandwiches, and then sip some wine as we politely applaud the efforts of the professionals on the field, no matter the outcome.

Moore is set to become someone else’s Sam Dyson.

  10. James said, on July 8, 2017 at 9:47 am

Posey, Crawford, Belt, and Panik are still good players with a couple more years before they become liabilities. Panik is only 27. Crawford is not 620 OPS bad, Belt isn’t far from where he should be numbers wise, and Posey is putting the lie to the “he must move to 1B now” claim with an extraordinary year so far. Panik is about where he should be. In fact, the total productivity of these 4 is about where it should be.

Still, I have a hard time seeing how Evans rounds out that group in the off-season. I’m also skeptical that immediate plus value will be returned in a trade for any of them. Belt for prospects with Shaw taking over seems like the safest move, although the latter’s K/BB ratio has taken an alarming dive in AAA. Blowing it all up promises a few more bad years with no future guarantees. Ugh. No fresh observations here, but thought I’d add to the doomer chorus.

Amused that BF counts Belt as one of the beloved core Giants. Half of the fan base still seems to think he’s SF’s biggest problem.

  11. unca_chuck said, on July 8, 2017 at 10:01 am

I thought Steve Decker was being groomed to replace Bochy but he kinda fell off the map recently. Assistant hitting coach isn’t the path to glory.

  12. unca_chuck said, on July 8, 2017 at 10:03 am

Might go tomorrow with the boy. $55.00 for sec 105 row 3 a little past 1st base.

    • zumiee said, on July 8, 2017 at 10:06 am

      I’ll be at Sunday’s game.

  13. zumiee said, on July 8, 2017 at 10:05 am

I don’t agree that a lack of booing means Giants fans don’t care. I’ve never like all that booing on the East coast. It just seems cruel to me. The player knows when they aren’t doing well.
When Moore does poorly and walks off the field to no response from the fans that speaks volumes to the player. It’s a walk of shame. They know that.
The Giants didn’t boo Timmy at the end, and I’ll always love that about Giants fans. Moore obviously doesn’t have that kind of capital with Giants fans, but he gave us some great performances in the clutch last season.

  14. snarkk said, on July 8, 2017 at 11:48 am

Bonds walk of fame day today.
He ought to walk into the clubhouse, suit up in a 25 and play LF with Slater out…

“I want heads to roll. I want guys getting fired. Or released. Or benched! Let’s go!!!!!!! ”
    Yeah, one would be nice.
Moore needs a mental DL visit. Bum can take his place after he gets his minor league ERA under infinity.
Cain can get DLed or DFA’d, bring up Beede just because they can.
Let’s move onward, now that reality has set back in after that 6Ws out of 7 blip…

    • djloo27 said, on July 8, 2017 at 12:07 pm

  16. James said, on July 8, 2017 at 1:21 pm

The sentiment to write off the veteran position players– including the ones who’ve been involved in a WS or two — as sack of shit losers should be tempered by the ridiculously bad performance of the rest of the roster. Other than Slater, the back ups and the original LF platoon have been up 900 times and not a single one of them has an OPS over 700. That’s well over a quarter of the non-pitcher PAs this season. Take a look at any other team’s roster and try to find a more horrible set of role players.

    • Flavor said, on July 8, 2017 at 2:46 pm

we aren’t in last place because our role players stink. We are in last place because our entire team stinks.

      • James said, on July 8, 2017 at 3:22 pm

Hey, weren’t you just welcoming me back?!?

      • Flavor said, on July 8, 2017 at 3:47 pm

i’m ecstatic you’re back. Disagreeing with you doesn’t temper my enthusiasm that you’re back. 🙂 !

      • James said, on July 8, 2017 at 3:58 pm

I know, was being a little tongue in cheek. Of course, there are other deficiencies. What one can claim, I think, is that a better bench that was playing at least somewhat above replacement level would have translated into 4 or so more wins. The injuries to Span, Nunez, and Pence are part of the game, especially, when you have an older roster. The subs have been atrocious. If you add those 4 wins to adequate performances from Cueto etc., you start to see a team that looks more like a 500 squad . . . .

      • Flavor said, on July 8, 2017 at 4:04 pm

agreed. And it does seem like the brass spends as little as time as possible filling out the back end of the roster. That seems rather stupid to me seeing as how you KNOW you’re gonna need those guys to play and succeed during the spots in the season when the main guys go down.

  17. unca_chuck said, on July 8, 2017 at 1:25 pm

Well I’ve been saying that the core guys shouldn’t be written off yet. Pence? Yes. But belt posey panik crawford and Bummie are all 30 or under. Blowing shit up is a big overreaction.

  18. Macdog said, on July 8, 2017 at 3:18 pm

Slater to DL, Mac back up.

  19. Flavor said, on July 8, 2017 at 3:20 pm

I’m not suggesting blow up the infield. Without adequate replacements that would just be stupid. But one or two of those pieces may need to go to fix the other problems on the team. I suppose it’s possible that the Giants sign actually outfielders this off season. But if they are counting on Span and Pence there’s really only one spot to upgrade. And I happen to think there are 3 spots that need to be upgraded in the OF.
If the Giants only sign one OF this off season and either Span and/or Pence get hurt next year as you know they will, we’ll just start seeing the parade of shit coming up from Sacramento that we saw this year. And the Giants know the fans will just happily take that load to the face and probably ask for another.

  20. willedav said, on July 8, 2017 at 3:38 pm

It still comes down to pitching first for me. Dodgers team ERA of SPs for the last month, when they’ve romped, is 2.80 best in baseball. You can live without bombs if you pitch like that, esp with Jansen at back end.
Giants? Cain Stratton Moore, all give up 5+ in 15 innings worth. I can live with less offense if pitching and OF D (which has to be improved in CF and RF) are better. If it takes moving Cueto and an IF to save $$/bring back value, go for it.

Loo, if you’re out there, you have an unusual # of comments getting flagged. Not sure what that’s all about. links can sometimes be the cause but it doesn’t explain you “leading the league” in flagged posts. Sorry about that, let me know if it continues. I don’t check the filter regularly but i restore your comments (and all legitimate comments) when I do see them flagged.

someone on air last night (Kruk I think) was giving him credit for a Marlins turnaround, can’t remember which one…Bour maybe.

      • Flavor said, on July 8, 2017 at 6:48 pm

well,he got canned half way through the season because he lost interest in the job and Bour got significantly better THIS year. But who knows, maybe some of Bonds tips got internalized before he got fired for half assing the gig.

Yep. The Mays bio did shine some light on Durocher. He really took Mays under his wing. Durocher bio is in my queue…

  29. Flavor said, on July 8, 2017 at 6:34 pm

Here’s what the Giants should do: fuck that little 2 foot plaque. Re-name the stadium after him. THAT would be a real way to honor what he did for SF. That stadium isn’t built without him. Fuck the 5 mil they get a year from AT&T. Name the building after him if you want to honor him correctly.

    • zumiee said, on July 8, 2017 at 6:41 pm

I think most of us were surprised there wasn’t a plaque up already. Why the wait?

Sure. But why would the Marlins give him up?

      • chipower9 said, on July 8, 2017 at 8:25 pm

No motivation to do so on their part unless the deal was a good one. I think at the time (a couple of years ago), he was hurt and the fish were good in OF depth. That would have been the prime time for that trade. That ship has now sailed…

118 is about as hard as you can hit it. Again, why play normal depth on that guy? Sit at the fucking warning track, he doesn’t hit bloopy bullshit to the outfield. Very bad scouting by the Giants there. Not Gorkey’s fault.

  46. alleykat69 said, on July 8, 2017 at 8:35 pm

Billy Hamilton, the worst starting player in the majors, went crazy against SF earlier this year. Dee Gordon is another low OBP, high speed mediocrity SF can’t get out. Fucking pisses me off, even in the middle of a pointless season.

I never saw a guy strike out as fast as Gomez just did…

There’s an excellent chance that I witnessed the last home run of Gillaspie’s career…

    Shocking.
Giants lose to some dude who got released from AA at end of spring training, now making his first MLB start after a lackluster minor league stint at AAA w the Marlins. Game winner given away on a Posey passed ball. Giants suck. I would blow up this good ship Gigantes from stem to stern…

Always important to keep your eye on the bat.

This picture is freaking hilarious – look at the terrified kid in the blue shirt. Hell, a bunch of hilarious faces in this pic.

But why does the chick have an Etch-a-Sketch at the game? Love the guy in the black shirt chilling while the guy right below him gets a busted jaw. And I really dig the dad letting his 2 year old take the brunt of it while he leans away.

Slater out for season, most likely.
