Dominating The Regular Season, Fading in the Post Season
I see Yu Darvish went on the disabled list 2 days ago. Don’t like ever seeing anyone get injured but I did see this coming:
No K’s for Yu tonight thru 4 vs the lowly White Sox. Hmmmm…..I’ve seen this before. Injury could be coming up soon. Not wanting to see it, I like Yu a lot, but when a K pitcher like Yu throws up a 0 for K’s in a start….all I’m saying is that I’ve seen it before, I’ve seen it before.
____________
The Dodgers are fine, right? Piling up wins at a record rate, these are the salad days for our *friends* from the south. They are giving me a great reason to care about the post season this year…..
Stratton impressed me last night. He grinded through 6 with less than his best stuff. And for Stratton’s honky ass, there is not much best stuff to spare in there. But we need pitchers who don’t implode. Not everyone is an ace. If he can just avoid turning into Heston we could have ourselves a back end of the rotation cog going into next season…..
still think a lot has to do with other teams not seeing him before. It isn’t only the Giants this stuff happens to.
He wasn’t fooling too many guys last night and doesn’t appear to have extra special “stuff” but he did pitch out of that jam Craw got him into. And Brewers need and want every single game.
?: If Belt is OK and starts ST with Giants next year, what happens with Sando and 3b?
Arroyo?
Pablo isn’t showing anything that demands he return next year, even at the major league minimum, which is what the Giants would owe to offset the millions the Rsox must pay. Move on, and put some youngsters in the field. He’s the past, not the future…
That major league minimum salary is the best thing he’s got going for him.
I’m hoping he’ll show more, but I also have my doubts he’ll be back….
I can see him sort of platooning with Arroyo getting the bulk of starts….
I think Pablo gets a look next year, alot of it depends on Arroyo and how things shake out in ST. I am with Loo…if Pablo can put it together and play at the ML level, then he has a shot. But, I am not seeing anything that leads me to believe that will be the case. He may be done, but while doubtful, he may prove us all wrong, too.
“Less Than His Best Stuff” I fear will be the epitaph on Stratton’s gravestone…
Stop playing the loyalty card with this team.Thats part of the problem this year! Cain, Pence etc
It’s not rocket science here.. Arroyo 3B, CrawSS,Panik 2B, Belt 1B (concussion passable) Jones 3B/1B Specs everywhere needed.. Panda Adios amigo..
Well, I would not be handing Jones anything just right yet. Granted, the dude only has 79 ML plate appearances (all the more reason we need to see a lot of him for the rest of the season), but is hitting a paltry .190, with a .256 OBP (sucks) and a .585 OPS (sucks).
Pablo in 54 AB since coming back is hitting: .259, .309. .386, .699.
IMO that decision (who backs Arroyo, that is IF Arroyo wins the 3B job), will be determined with the remainder of this year and ST next year.
Jones needs to find his mojo…dude flat out sucks right now.
even at what is less than we saw thru 2014, The Panda doesn’t seem any worse than what Arroyo gave us. I understand Arroyo’s ceiling is higher but that doesn’t mean he’s going to get there. Pablo at the minimum should be a must-keep, IMO. If Belt is done Pablo could play first base with Arroyo at 3rd. I do like Ryder at first base though. He can pick it.
Can’t forget how he turned on that inside pitch and homered recently (in FLA?).
That gave me some hope for him. Never see any of the holograms do that…
LMAO. Hologram HRs? Nada…
Off Scherzer in D.C.
Just to clarify, Panda’s bomb was off Scherzer – Ryder’s was off Barraclough in Florida…
BF – don’t pat yourself on the back too hard for Darvish’s 10-day DL stint. Dodgers been passing out those mini vacations to all their players. Bellinger and Wood just got their 10-day vacation notices today. All of them have said they could play if Dodgers were in a fight for the division. I’m sure there’ll be more getting their vacation notices soon…
Cody Bellinger is the 26th different Dodger to land on the DL in 2017 – somewhere around a third of them as a precautionary thing and/or to get a “rest” more than anything.
Shit rooster, don’t pat yourself on the back either. You’ve been wrong about the Dogs for the last 29 years . . .
hey, I predicted the guy would hit the DL a few days before he hit the DL and there was zero concern about his health heading into that game. That’s not exactly easy to do. They aren’t putting Yu on the DL if there’s nothing wrong with him, wake up.
I hope Flav likes this one (stolen from Twitter):
Boston reporter: “Hello, I’m from the Globe.”
Kyrie: “Excuse me?”
yeah, I saw that. Hilarious! Cle did pretty good getting so much for a guy who was desperate to get out of there. That #1 Nets pick could be enormous for them.
I’m already seeing Cavs could use that pick in a deal, what a wacky NBA offseason.
Clueless Clev fans still think Lebron is staying after this season. No chance. Zero.
there look to be about 500 people total in the bleachers tonight. Might be time for another across the board price cut at stubhub……
Smarge’s 7/1K ratio and nearly 5 ERA are as bizarre as Joey Gallo’s numbers.
How many RISP hits don’t result in Rs? Fuck me.
Hate to admit it but that joke took me a sec.
Gorkys is absolutely in play for the Willie Mac Award.
That’s all you need to know about this season…
He might not get Samardzj’s vote.
That ball would have traveled 450 feet, and had it caromed differently it might have only been a single.
There is no justifying that…
agreed. I’m on board. Triples alley is stupid.
Cavs just got a ton worse defensively. This doesn’t help them short term, and when Bron Bron leaves, they fall off the map. By the time they use that 1st round pick they got, they’ll be toast’
there’s talk they trade the pick for Cousins (pick plus someone) to try to load up a super team and win NOW. That would be very interesting.
Cousins on the Cavs actually would be fun as fuck. That would be a high speed train wreck.
Derp . . .
Yeah, Lebron is already gonna have his hands full with IT jacking up shots all game long, Cousins would have him muttering to himself….
Big hit there to Gork’s Willie Mac Award run…..
lqtm.
Eric Sogard with .800 OPS at SS. Unreal.
Btw, according to the book by Garmatt guy on Giants, triples alley was brainchild of Magowan and Baer.
Also that the wall in RF is exactly 24 feet high.
They could make that shit 410 across CF and it would still be tough.
It ain’t 490 though. Anyone here SEE the Polo Grounds? DJ? Pawlie?

Never there, Chuck…
Thomson’s HR probably measured about 320’…
The exit velocity was probably 94.5 mph
Russ Hodges’ overheated response is even more ridiculous with these numbers in mind. I’m not sure, upon further review, that the Giants should even have been awarded the victory.
What are you talking about, James? One of the most iconic moments in baseball history is an overrated bullshit play that shouldn’t have stood?
It’s not close to being as clever or amusing as the Boston Globe joke above, but it was a weak attempt at humor on my part, Chuck.
You’re right . . . : )
Mudbug roundtrip!
Damn, you can always count on the pen to cough up a late lead.
Good God this team is pathetic. They pinch run for the back guy? What’s up w/Pence?
Tight hamstring supposedly. If he was on second instead of Hundley tight hamstring are not he could of scored.
Pence was on 1st. They could have run Blach for Hundley. The back run doesn’t matter as much. Or put Calexico in.
Shit they did it again. spin gold to shit.
Yeah like Hot Rod Hundley had any chance of scoring.Nevin is clueless.
If Hundley is out for PRunner, then Posey has to move to C. He’s on rest mode, surrounded by invisible yellow tape. Can’t violate that. SF must lead league in runs NOT scoring from second on singles — either by throw outs at home or not sent due to slow jumps or slow runners or nervous Nevin…
The Giants bullpen = garbage.
Typical scenario with the Giants in the post game Bochy blunder when the press asked about Pence not starting:Yeah we had to scratch him some discomfort in his hamstring think it was his left hamstring?Hell your not even sure of your players condition before a game?? Then he said yeah with a day off Thursday we will probably sit him and he will be good to go against D-backs Friday night, but of course he could say I’m good to go tomorrow and that might change are thinking!
More clueless thinking for a rudderless team..
And we get Pence and Span again next year, and probably another lousy leftfield platoon. Oh yay.
“Prussian Blue,” by Philip Kerr, is a good novel. It’s a detective novel that’s part of a series. It’s not usually a genre that I read, but this series has caught my interest.
