Moore Still Sucks

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 30, 2017

Disappointing thud as Moore went back to his bullshit ways. I haven’t checked the history, but it feels like Perdomo has got our number.

Driving out of LA today. I spent yesterday afternoon body surfing at Manhattan Beach with my beautiful 14 year old girl, this morning I put her on a plane to Costa Rica for a year. Sad day.

Say what? What is she doing in Costa Rica? Sounds like fun for her, but who is she staying with?

    • willedav said, on August 30, 2017 at 8:12 am

Hopefully a great experience. I get kids in store spending a year overseas studying in Europe and B-ball gal I coached in HS went to England to complete her post grad education. Tremendous opportunity at any age to see diverse culture and landscape in our part of world.
Stressful on home front I’m sure as would be for any parent.

Costa Rica? Whatthehell? This some kind of school-related gig. I know how much you love your daughter Flav (I can relate…I have a wonderful relationship with my daughter, too), so wishing both of you the best. I am guessing you should T-up a body-surfing trip to Costa Rica in about six months.

Moore mirrors the team this year. They have been consistent…consistently inconsistent.

  4. willedav said, on August 30, 2017 at 8:33 am

Freaking Padres…are 9th in league bombs with 160 yet are also dead last in NLoffensivey in:
runs hits walks BA OB and 14th OPS.
Yet they’ve killed Giants ever since last year AS break. Wtf?

Maybe cause are offense is pathetic everytime they play them.

With you BF. The older Snarkette is flying out of DFW tomorrow for Madrid. Study at Univ of Salamanco for a semester, then a couple of internships in Madrid and Barcelona. Back next June. She’s near fluent in Spanish now, so she should be fluent on return. She was in TX this past week visiting relatives, but not exposed to flooding. But, she got thrown from a horse while riding with her aunt, broke her shoulder. So heading to Spain with her arm in a sling for 6 weeks, then PT over there. Dad advised her against last minute riding for this very reason, but hey, she and Bum must have the same agent. No contractual penalties will apply…

Love that character in Breaking Bad/Saul…

I don’t have any stats to back it up, but when the Giants play the Padres, the Padres look like a younger, more athletic team, playing against an older, more tired-looking team.

    • djloo27 said, on August 30, 2017 at 11:22 am

The Giants unusually high HF (Honky Factor) is a large part of that…

I’m surprised at the lack of speculation about Bochy’s future…

  9. gianthead said, on August 30, 2017 at 1:06 pm

So havent watched much baseball in general this year and turned on the Fodger/Brewer gane Sunday afyernoon and not only is Braun physically much much smaller, I think he has shrunk…didnt know steroids made you taller…

Also interesting, sure someone commented on this here, that the Giants have reached out to the Marlins about Stanton…

    • chipower9 said, on August 30, 2017 at 1:58 pm

We kicked Stanton around the block a couple of times on yesterday’s thread. Overall consensus was no. I posted details on his contract. That boy is owed a LOT of $$$.

Lots of dollars..but who else we spending on??? Other sluggers won’t sign here and we are too mediocre lefty heavy

my daughter’s aunt and uncle moved their family to Costa Rica last year— partly to live on the beach for a year, partly to get out of the US. They have a very nice house in New York they rent out that pays for just about everything they do down there. Anyway, Katie visited them in June in what was supposed to be their last month in CR. But they decided to stay one more year because they like it so much and they invited Katie to join them. After great consideration I decided to do it. I got her into the Costa Rica International Academy and voila she’s starting 9th grade there. This seemed like a better idea a couple of months ago but I’m sure I’ll adjust. She’ll come back bilingual and exposed to a different lifestyle. They live right on the beach, she’ll surf every morning before school. Old school life that I can’t give her…..

Stanton wants to break HR records. He’s not coming to AT&T, he’d nix that in a heart beat. I know that’s ironic since the HR record was broken by Bonds but come on, no one would willingly come here if breaking HR records was their plan. And that seems to be what Stanton is all about.

    • gianthead said, on August 30, 2017 at 4:35 pm

The question is does Stanton want to stay in Miami??? And I am willing to guess the answer is FUCK NO.

So I think he would go to where the Marlins can get the best deal for him. Please not the Fodgers. The Fodgers clearly have more and better players to put in a deal for him. Marlins are not going to ask for Bum. They will want young and cheap prospects and probably as many arms as they can get.

Yes he is 28 next year. You dont trade for him thinking you will 10 great years out of him. If you get 5 great years until he is 33, you are happy if it leads to at least one WS. 2-3 ok years after would be icing. Since we dont have nunerous prospects to put on the table, maybe Buster brings in some that can be part of a deal. And knowing how much he will get paid, will leave only 4-5 teams able tp pull this off.

If you are Stanton, are you going to say no I dont want to go to a team and organization that won 3 WS??? I think not. He would consistently hit 40 plus homers a year playing for us…

      • Flavor said, on August 30, 2017 at 4:40 pm

I think he’d leave Miami because the park is big and he’s probably fucked most of the hottest chicks that town has to offer. But if he had a CHOICE I don’t think he would choose another big park. He doesn’t give a flying fuck about the 3 beauties we won. Maybe if he ever won one that would be a priority for him. But I’m guessing his daily priorities are the following: 1) blast bombs 2) bang chicks 3) make certain biceps are peaking and on point.
And I’d bet all 3 are interchangeable in importance depending on the day.

Shit, Flav, Kathy and I seriously considered doing just that about a year ago, moving to Costa Rica for a couple years. We spent our 10th anniversary down there and had a blast. But life got in the way and we nixed it. Read a story about a couple from Lafayette who, with their 18 year old son rode their motorcycles all the way down the Panamerican Highway to Equador. I figured we could drive the land cruiser to Costa Rica.

And yeah, you should definitely take a trip down there The beaches at MIguel Antonio are great. I don;t know where your daughter is but if she’s near there, stay at this place. It was great.

GH, we are on Stanton’s no-trade list.

Back in early July when Katie called me from CR and asked if she could do this, I was in Reno about to play in a poker tournament. Sounded like a pipe dream, we talked for maybe 10 minutes about it. In the tournament I was chatting with a buddy of mine who was next to me about all of this and the guy on the other side of me interrupted and wanted to know if I do business down there. He had on a Costa Rica baseball cap ( how crazy, right?) and we got to talking. He moved his family down there 20 years ago to provide a *safe haven* for them. I didn’t ask him what that meant but now I wish I had. Anyway, tournament ended with me and him heads up, nearly identical chips, we chopped obviously. But I had an incredible conversation with him and took the entire encounter as a huge sign we should do this. And what are the odds that the guy next to me in a poker tournament never gets moved and we end up heads up at the end? You have to play in poker tournies to know how rare that is.
Had to check off several other boxes, did that, decided to go for it. This is really all about Katie, I can’t see myself moving down there for any period of time. But after talking to our family who has been down there for a year, plus the guy at the poker table, plus everything else we looked into, I decided to go for it even though this is a pretty big risk to send her to 9th grade in another country when I could send her to Gunn High School. Shit, this is why people live here, to send their kids to PA schools. Well, I went in a different direction. I’m bringing her back for Christmas and I plan on going down there in April for a week. So it’s not a REAL year without seeing her. But at 6am this morning when I was putting her on the plane I was a bawling, crying idiot….

      • unca_chuck said, on August 30, 2017 at 5:44 pm

Oh yeah. Kids do that to you. Where about in CR? The country is in fairly good shape with a stable gov’t (unlike the US!) and good schools/infrastructure for the most part. Most of the people speak English and there are lots and lots of ex-pats.

If the kids were gone, we’d seriously think about it. Kathy can work remote, and if I could scrape up a remote job we could do it in a month. Rent the house out to pay the mortgage and some expenses, and poof we’re gone. We were looking around July, but a whole lot of shit happened to put the brakes on it.

      • Flavor said, on August 30, 2017 at 5:51 pm

They’re in Playa Brasilito area. Our relatives who are doing this are like a lot of ex-pats down there. They rent out their houses in US and can easily afford anything they want in CR. The private school tuition wasn’t really in the budget this year but I pulled it off.

      • unca_chuck said, on August 30, 2017 at 7:28 pm

Yeah, that’s what we would do if we did it. Not a problem for me at this point.

Giants are just so lame scoring any runs. The frustration level nearl cancels out enjoying the game for its own sake. I can’t see much improvement in this team without a strip down and rebuild. Span, Specs, Gorkys, and Pence whiffs out with bags loaded — what a lame lineup….

Crick looks thinner than I seem to remember him in minors…

Snarkk, you should plan to visit your kid. Salamanca is a fantastic city, with one of the oldest universities around. The central square is stunning. Mrs. James and I were there the night Spain lost to Portugal for the first time in 30 or 40 years, and the entire city was a ghost town. We walked around that magnificent square wondering where the hell all the lively Spaniards were, they were supposed to make the night all magical and shit for us with their show of community and Love of Life . The waiter at our restaurant explained to us later on. The food and wine were still excellent.

    • snarkk said, on August 30, 2017 at 10:10 pm

Si, I hear all good things about Salamanca and the Uni. Yes, the Plaza Major looks fantastic, and so does the rest of the city architecture. Have looked at a bunch of videos. Supposedly the best Spanish is spoken there and around in Castille. After her semester is over in mid December, snarkkette #1 will fly Madrid to Berlin to meet up with her cousin and her grandma and her husband — to take in Berlin, then to Prague then to Salzburg. Mrs. snarkk, I and snarkette #2 will fly to Munich, immediately train over to meet snarkkette #1 and rest of group in Salzburg over Xmas holidays, then onto Vienna for New Years, then back to Munich. I know Munich very well from living around there years ago, so I’m looking forward to a return visit for 4 days or so. We’ll probably go down to Fussen and see Ludwig’s castles, and drive up to Rothenburg for a day trip there. Munich is my favorite Euro city of all those I’ve visited. I have to come back to go to work after two weeks, but rest of group will go onto Paris for a few days, then fly to Madrid for a few more days in Spain. Snarkkette #2 is taking AP French and loves everything French, so the Paris visit will have her very happy, she’s never been. Snarkkette #1 will give the group a tour of Salamanca, Madrid and probably Toledo, as she should be a good tour guide by then for those places, and will speak Spanish for the group. Should be fun. I’d love to go to Salamanca, I’ve been to Madrid and Barcelona, but have to come back to work and pay for the trip…

Those are some complex logistics! Sounds like a crazy, hectic good time with the family.

  17. xoot said, on August 30, 2017 at 9:00 pm

Bochy was 4 games over .500 going into tonight, I believe. All the Giants need to do is play .500 ball to the end and they save Bochy’s balance and easily avoid 100 losses. That’s not looking so good, right now.

  18. Macdog said, on August 30, 2017 at 9:14 pm

    There goes a .500 season.

  19. xoot said, on August 30, 2017 at 9:14 pm

interesting stat (finally) from Krukow: Giants received 14 BBs in this sd series, and none of those runners scored. none. (I hope Krukow was right. that’s damning.)

  20. zumiee said, on August 30, 2017 at 9:22 pm

    D-Backs reliever comes in and:
    Walks a guy
    Hits a guy
    Walks a guy
    Gives up a hit

He faced 4 batters. I’m pretty sure I could have done what he did, and I’m not a major league pitcher.

    • zumiee said, on August 30, 2017 at 9:26 pm

Next reliever gives up a hit, then walks a guy.
      The choke job continues.

  21. zumiee said, on August 30, 2017 at 9:48 pm

The choking stops; D-Backs hang on to beat the Dodgers. Ryu got roughed up.
