Release Reuben

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on February 12, 2018

Here’s my #1 rule if I’m a GM in the NFL: If you own an assault rifle I don’t want you on my team. Simple. Easy to understand. Nothing good for my football team will come from any of my players possessing assault rifles.

The Niners don’t have to make a snap decision on this because it’s the off season. They can certainly gather more facts. But this is a franchise that has simply had too many players fuck up in the eyes of the law. The message to the rest of the players and the fanbase has to be: “We will not tolerate players who commit domestic violence.”

It’s obviously the right stance to take. But the other piece to this is that we have too many good vibes with Jimmy G and the future. We don’t need players who so brazenly skirt the law. Good players will want to come here now because of what Lynch and Shanny are building around Jimmy G.

No assault rifle owners allowed…..

LGPD is used to domestic violence stuff, one of the more common crimes reported in pretty quiet community weekly news that is delivered where I work. Lot of popular bars/restaurants downtown, so other stuff is usually alcohol related or property stuff at residences stores (Apple has gotten robbed few times broad daylight) or cars.

Gotta wonder how the assault rifle was discovered– was it just laying around the house/apt/condo somewhere in plain sight or did victim make such a statement related to her safety to officers?

So 2 things going on, beside past pot bust hist of suspect—6-5 250 lb of muscle football player accused of violence and threat vs. gal he’s been in long term relationship with, and serious illegal weapon in the house.
I think he’s looking for a new team pretty soon.

He also failed a drug test and threatened to beat up a guy trying to give him a blood test at the NFL combine last year. He was asked to leave.

Could of been worse what if it was clean cut Jimmy G pulling this dumbshit move?

SD sheriffs report Esteban Loaiza detained with 20 keys either H or cocaine. Holds record for most Ws by Mexican born pitcher. About to hold another record it appears.

On the Steve Howe retirement plan, apparently.

Assault rifles, or at least not all assault rifles, are banned in Alabama. All are banned in California. The federal ban expired years ago. Maybe the kid just didn’t understand California law. If the 49ers and his girfriend’s attempt to explain the legal nuances understandably upset him.

“are not banned in Alabama” sorry

I would be stunned to learn the Niners and every single team in the NFL don’t go through the domestic violence, guns, etc. discussion/warning with draftees multiple times, probably all the time. Lynch had a convo with this kid apparently last month after his arrest in Alabama for pot. At some point, you either put two bodyguards on a guy 24/7, or you have to pull off the leash. Or, don’t roll the dice and draft dudes that are questionable, like this guy was…

They tossed Brock during the preseason last year after his DV arrest (that was eventually dismissed) but he was an undrafted free agent. And the way the previous regime dilly-dallied with Ray Ray Armstrong and Aldon Smith was well-documented and criticised.

Foster is a first round draft pick, so the way they react to this will be very telling.

I had no idea that Esteban Loaiza started the 2003 All-Star game (opposite Jason Schmidt) until seeing the news of his drugs bust.

      Didn’t know that MacDog.
Guess he pitches well between the white lines?

The constant police blotter action is another reason I no longer follow the NFL much. MLB has it’s share if numbskulls, but usually it’s drugs, with the occasional domestic thing. Seems like football players are constantly beating or threatening their wives and GFs…

The path Ruben’s going down he will soon be called “Ruben “Hurricane” Foster”

The only diff being Carter was framed.

Yeah but everyone in prison was framed aren’t they?

    Spring Training fun facts:

Giants’ pitchers and catchers report tomorrow.
All the other players report the 18th.
The Giants play the Brewers on the 23rd.
The Giants play the Dodgers on the 24th.
    Etc.

  14. zumiee said, on February 12, 2018 at 1:51 pm

    Indicative-of-2017 fact:

The Giants had a stretch during last season where 19 straight of their HRs were solo HRs. They almost broke their own record of 21 set in 2011.
And it’s not like these HRs last season were happening very often anyway.

    • zumiee said, on February 12, 2018 at 2:00 pm

      21 is the MLB record.

I think I mostly agree with Brisbee on this:
“And yet the Giants somehow made the team compelling again. That’s not just me guessing at the mood of the masses. It’s based on the enthusiasm at FanFest. It’s based on what happens whenever I wear a Giants hat.”

    • zumiee said, on February 12, 2018 at 5:05 pm

Some stuff has to happen, though. Some bounceback seasons from some players, and improvement from the bullpen. Smoltz reportedly worked with Strickland on his slider this off-season. Maybe it helped.

      • Flavor said, on February 12, 2018 at 6:10 pm

i think a lot of this will come down to that FLR. If he’s lights out the bullpen will be fine. I’m not really worried about the offense, I agree with Brisbee, they *made the team compelling again*.

Seems like there’s a fair amount of optimism here.
Not from me. Look at that pitching staff…
