A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Enjoy Your Weekend. Here Is Random Stuff

As you can imagine, the Dodgers holding their grand ring ceremony in front of the Giants is causing a few waves on twitter. This was a pretty good response to an especially idiotic LA fan (in defense of LA fans, MOST of their responses on twitter seem to recognize this is a very stupid idea)….

Also, for those interested (and those bored by it looking for it to all go away and for baseball to start) you’ll be happy to hear that Winx won her 23rd straight today. She beat shit, as usual, I think she’s pummeled *Who Shot the Bar Man* in every single one of these wins. Poor horse. Anyway, she dominated. She’s the one in the blue silks. Always.

Also, quick question: a lot of people think this is good. I am not one of those people. Anyone get why this is getting some plus pub?

I think the RATT mash up is totally awesome. A cool spin on my favorite song from that era. Marvin’s dance moves matched up with the shredding guitars is my favorite part.

    • Flavor said, on March 3, 2018 at 7:33 am

yeah, as far as mash ups go I guess it was ok. I knew you’d like this, btw. You ever see RATT in concert? I THINK I caught them at a Monsters of Rock but can’t recall for certain

      • sandog said, on March 3, 2018 at 8:38 am

Saw them and Billy Squier at Memorial Auditorium and it was a great show. Friend of mine threw his hat from Davis Muni Golf Course on the stage and Stephen Pearcy actually put it on, which we thought was awesome.
Later saw Pearcy solo here in San Dog at a Halloween bash. He kept saying he wasnt gonna play any Ratt songs and was getting irritated that fans kept calling for them. Finally, toward the end of the show he said fuck it, lets play Round and Round. The crowd went nuts.
I dont think they were at that Monsters show at the Stick. Love the fact we were bith there.

great line from that call in the stretch: “Bowman (jockey) sitting there like a department store mannequin”…yeah, she won easy.

Catching up on all those horse racing vids, fantastic stuff. Yeah, that #17 is incredible, watching Zenyatta all the way knowing she’s going to pull it out and yet it still doesn’t seem possible. If she goes any wider in some of those races, she’d be in the parking lot, amazing. As Loo said, too bad she didn’t make it to the east coast. I saw Rachel up close at the Haskell in ’09, that was a big thrill.

I love how everyone is jizzing about Stratton’s “spin rate”. He was a washed up prospect before he finally got a chance lady year. Where was his elite spin rate B4 last season? Lol

Shakeem Griffin LB throws up 20 reps on the barbells with a prospetic left arm at the combine! Kids a “Beast” 💪

  7. zumiee said, on March 3, 2018 at 12:34 pm

I guess the feeling is Stratton’s curveball has improved into a legitimate out-pitch. Maybe.

  8. zumiee said, on March 3, 2018 at 12:35 pm

That’s a nice job on the Ratt mash-up.

Blanco just hit an HR. He’s probably a lock to make the 25.

      We are phucked…

    • snarkk said, on March 3, 2018 at 1:13 pm

      Double phucked…

  10. zumiee said, on March 3, 2018 at 12:37 pm

Gorkys just hit an HR. Is that a good thing?

  11. zumiee said, on March 3, 2018 at 1:28 pm

Gorkys had a -.6 WAR for the Giants last season. Blanco had a -.1 WAR for Arizona.

  12. Flavor said, on March 3, 2018 at 1:30 pm

uh, this is incredible. I can still get one of these up, that’s it. He’s doing it with basically one freaking arm.

I still say it’s one cool looking stadium. I have a big picture of it hanging in my office at work btw.

      • Flavor said, on March 3, 2018 at 7:59 pm

would like to get a look at that. Can you snap a pic of it, show me in Reno?

    • alleykat69 said, on March 3, 2018 at 8:17 pm

SI should of done their homework on the Stick.
When it opened, the LeftCenter to Right field area was open with fences then the stands not a enclosed park back then..

      • sandog said, on March 3, 2018 at 8:42 pm

Relax Kat–No one recognizes that original version of The Stick,
You got a skink going tonight? I enjoyed a neat Crown Royal earlier. I think I’m gonna go pour myself another.

Incredible game-winner at a NY state playoff game:

    • Flavor said, on March 3, 2018 at 5:45 pm

besides having a fucking Dodger in his name, that was pretty cool

      • Macdog said, on March 3, 2018 at 6:11 pm

Yeah, we’ll overlook that and also that he should’ve been called for traveling,

      • zumiee said, on March 3, 2018 at 7:39 pm

I saw Trae Young make a strong move to the basket yesterday, and make a strong finish; but he took three steps to do it. He picked up the ball and took three steps in the key. Well, heck, in high school I could have made some strong finishes by taking three steps. But it would have been called traveling.

      • zumiee said, on March 3, 2018 at 7:41 pm

LeBron does the three step thing sometimes, and of course no traveling call.

      • Flavor said, on March 3, 2018 at 8:01 pm

Lebron was whining about not getting to the line enough the other day. I’m like “Dawg you travel nearly every single time down the court. You really want to rattle the cages of the refs to start calling more fouls?!?!?!?!”

      • djloo27 said, on March 4, 2018 at 6:57 am

In the playground/schoolyard it was called “walking”…

  16. sandog said, on March 3, 2018 at 7:56 pm

Trae Young usually has a pretty good push off going with his off arm on those drives to the basket as well.
I’ve watched him play a bunch, and he’s a talented dude, but I’m not a big fan of his game. The jacked up 3’s from near the logo don’t do it for me.
I really hope my Kings don’t end up with him. Give me Ayton or Bagley or the Euro guy everyone raves about.

    • Flavor said, on March 3, 2018 at 8:02 pm

how focused are you on coalescing your march madness picks? I know we don’t know the teams yet. But do you have a stable of teams you are keeping your eye on, biding your time, till the tourney kicks off?

    • Macdog said, on March 3, 2018 at 8:03 pm

They didn’t help their cause in the NBA’s Tank-a-thon by beating my Nets the other night, haha.

      • sandog said, on March 3, 2018 at 8:33 pm

That was frustrating as hell by the way. The Nets were playing like they were trying to tank the game—-and they don’t even get to keep their pick!

  17. Flavor said, on March 3, 2018 at 8:04 pm

San Dawg will be my march madness guru responsible for guiding me to place as many $50 three team parlays that I have to lay down till I hit one……

    • sandog said, on March 3, 2018 at 8:31 pm

My problem is I don’t like betting on teams I don’t like rooting for—-and I’m an underdog guy., so I’m always looking for a diamond in the rough.

      • djloo27 said, on March 3, 2018 at 11:23 pm

A good strategy with chicks, too. Like dating a girl with a hot little body and braces when you were 17….

    WIllie–you out there somewhere?
Kameron Rooks is in the midst of having the game of his life tonight for the Aztecs. 12 points, several blocks. He’s been buried on the bench all year and now they’re feeding him the ball like he’s Bill Freaking Cartwright.

    Purdue all the way…

Nice Lincecum-related article. I didn’t know he’s half Filipino. I don’t remember ever hearing that.

Until this weekend, I didn’t know that the World Series losers get a ring for winning their league pennant. But I guess we should expect that from a sport that gives champagne celebrations to the winners of each round of the playoffs.
But the World Series championship ring is still The Ring.

    • djloo27 said, on March 4, 2018 at 6:55 am

A baseball team could have as many as 5 champagne celebrations:
      Clinching WC berth
      Winning WC game
      Winning Divisional Round
      Winning LCS
      Winning WS
