Strikeout Kings

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 10, 2018

If you had told me that Derek Holland was not going to be the problem this year…..

Four games we have scored one run. Two games we have scored zero. I’m renaming the team “The San Francisco Binary’s” until further notice.

I’m tired of hearing about all of the good pitching the Giants have been facing. This is the big leagues. There are stud pitchers everywhere. Remember that guy who shut us down on opening day? Gonzales? He got blasted by the Royals yesterday. Two innings, 8 hits, 4 runs, showers.

I don’t mind strikeouts if they come with home runs. Belt, Longo and McCutchen have 33k’s between them and 3 home runs. That isn’t going to cut it.

The good news is that I’m still a lot more concerned about Holland being a problem a problem this year. The hitting should come….

Evan has separated his BA from his OBP. A major milestone.

    • blade3colorado said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:28 pm

      Huh? I think they’re both .118, right?

      • James said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:36 pm

He walked, making his OBP ever so slightly higher than his batting avg.

    • blade3colorado said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:39 pm

Okay . . . I just refreshed the Gmen batting stats and now he has a .143 OBP versus a .118 BA.

  2. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:26 pm

Oh, God. The ugly part of the order.

  3. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:27 pm

    Hey! A situational AB!!!

  4. willedav said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:28 pm

Much as he has sucked Pence drove that plenty far enough to get Giants the lead.
And yes as Blade mentioned him, it was Gorks that got it all started with single and SB.

  5. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:28 pm

Wind blowing through the chain link fence isn’t going to affect a ball 150′ in the air.

    • zumiee said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:32 pm

I read a thing that says it does. It said it causes a circular swirl inside the ballpark.

  6. willedav said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:29 pm

wow cutch looked like dead meat.

  7. zumiee said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:29 pm

Longoria did find a way to kill the rally.

  8. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:29 pm

He’s out. Why the fuck are the Dbacks playing so shallow in LF?

  9. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:30 pm

    Fuck. He’s out.

  10. snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:31 pm

Wotus had to waive him home.
Damn, the Giants have so much trouble scoring it is unreal…

    • unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:33 pm

No he didn’t Look where the LFer was. He was in about 20′ closer than normal.

      • snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:36 pm

Cutch still has wheels, ya gotta make the fielder make a play with 2 out the way the Giants have trouble scoring. Unfortunately, he made the throw…

      • unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:44 pm

Well, I disagree. The LF was about 30′ from the infirld dirt, and Cutch hadn’t hit the bag when he got the ball.

  11. alleykat69 said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:31 pm

He’s out and so is Longo for 4 outs!!

    • blade3colorado said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:32 pm

      lulz . . . good one AK.

  12. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:32 pm

    That’s a fucking home to 3rd DP?!?

  13. zumiee said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:32 pm

    Longoria is off the hook.

  14. snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:32 pm

If Cutch had scored, WTF is Longo doing getting thrown out at 3rd?…

    • unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:36 pm

Was there 2 outs? Oh yeah. That’s in Wotis then. THe LF guy was way in,

  15. James said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:32 pm

Our BA w/ RISP went up again, go team.

    • unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:34 pm

Huzzah. No runs scored, but hey . . .

  16. snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:34 pm

    Uh oh.
    Osich…

  17. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:35 pm

Oplease Oshit Omg. Get through fucking inning…

  18. snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:37 pm

And there goes Oshitch. Had the batter 0-2, then phttttttt….

  19. blade3colorado said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:37 pm

Sheesh, with all the fricking walks, this game feels like extra innings already. Long ass game.

  20. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:37 pm

Wow. Cutch makes up for the drop with a shit throw. Fuck me sideways.

  21. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:38 pm

woo hoo. Way to hold the lead.

  22. snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:39 pm

    Oshtich was nails in ST.
Then, the real season started and he’s been crap.
    I already want him gone…

  23. alleykat69 said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:39 pm

Didn’t take long for Oshit to implode..
Bus is warming up for the Sac run..

  24. Macdog said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:40 pm

    McClunker.

  25. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:41 pm

here comes the parade of relievers. One per batter.

  26. zumiee said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:42 pm

    Gearrin is rocking tonight.

    • alleykat69 said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:47 pm

      Lmao 😂 Zumie!
I think Gearrin likes to throw shit pitches once in awhile just to piss off the umpire and milk more game time.Hes so aggravating to watch..

  27. blade3colorado said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:42 pm

Gearrin, the sloooooowest pitcher in the West.

  28. willedav said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:42 pm

hope the guy driving the bus in from Sac that brought in Okert is still in the parking lot and taking Osich back with him.

  29. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:43 pm

Hard to blame Oshit for Cutch’s flail. For a supposed plus defender, he’s dropped 2-3 flayballs already.

  30. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:45 pm

    And it’s still early April.

  31. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:46 pm

You either walk this guy or get him fishing.

  32. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:46 pm

    Hey!

  33. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:49 pm

Glaciers move faster than this guy. fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

  34. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:51 pm

    0-2 count? That’ll be 5 more pitches.

  35. alleykat69 said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:51 pm

And really Kruk he has another base to play with? Fuck I’ve seen enough of Gearrin this inning to prolong more insomnia!!

  36. sandog said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:52 pm

Wasnt pretty, but he did a helluva job

  37. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:53 pm

Yup. Cutch’s defense is not what I thought we were getting.

  38. snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:56 pm

Guys are squaring up Oshit like nobody’s biz. He’s not fooling anybody.
And he does stoopid crap like getting a guy down 0-2 and then going 3-2 so he has to give in on a cripple pitch. Tired of this dude doing the same thing the last 3 seasons. He must just freeze up mental when he’s out there. Great this ST like he turned a corner. He did, back to where he was. Okert generates the same results, only with not as good stuff as Oshit. Who was that guy half a dozen years ago or more, before the rings; the LH reliever who threw gas, but got constantly pounded?…

    • snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:00 pm

      I just remembered.
      Dan Runzler…

    • zumiee said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:01 pm

      Taschner?

      • snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:04 pm

        He sucked, too.
Runzler threw gas, pretty much a LH Strick…

  39. zumiee said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:57 pm

To paraphrase Lincoln talking about Gen. McClelland: “This game has the slows.”

  40. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 9:58 pm

Yeah, the fact that we still have guys like Oshit and Gork on the team is what we were pissed about last year. And here they remain.

    • sandog said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:01 pm

Is it true that Okrap got called back up and The Dynamic Duo is reunited?

      • zumiee said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:03 pm

        For at least one night.

  41. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:01 pm

Wow. Dubs drubbed by 30 by the Jazz. We may not get past OKC.

    • zumiee said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:02 pm

May have been tanked to line up an opponent in the playoffs.

      • unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:08 pm

OKC ain;t the team to want. But hey, we’ll see.

  42. blade3colorado said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:02 pm

    152 pitches thrown after 7 innings . . . yawn.

    • unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:12 pm

      By Gearren?

      • blade3colorado said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:21 pm

        It only seems that way.

  43. snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:02 pm

    Really good job by Gearrin.
His approach is to piss off the batter to distraction with the delay tactics, or put the batter to sleep…

    • blade3colorado said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:04 pm

      lulz

  44. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:11 pm

I bet Chafin was chafing to get in there.

I’m here all week . . . tip your waitresses

  45. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:14 pm

Fuck. GO!!! Why are we so bad at taking bases?

    • snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:20 pm

I think a lot of guys are bad at reading hits in the outfield. Will was no speed demon, but the dude could read balls into the outfield…

  46. alleykat69 said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:14 pm

Gearrin is like a fly in your ear always annoying just you no matter how many people are around..

  47. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:19 pm

If you are going to sent Cutch now, why not have him straight steal when he was at 1st ? Longo is a K mi=achine.

  48. Macdog said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:20 pm

    E-Yeah!

  49. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:20 pm

Just like they drew it up . . .

  50. zumiee said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:20 pm

Longoria was unsuccessful in killing the rally.

  51. snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:21 pm

    Longo !
Great K to enable the bad throw, and get the run home !…

  52. blade3colorado said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:21 pm

No doubt all planned by Longo . . . “Umm, I’ll strike out and force the catcher into throwing the ball away.”

  53. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:21 pm

    Longo’s best AB as Giant.

  54. Lurker John said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:22 pm

By 40 Chuck. The Warriors aren’t doing shit this year.

  55. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:22 pm

Everyone on this team is due for a meaningful hit.

  56. blade3colorado said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:23 pm

Crawford tries the same thing, but massive fail.

  57. snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:26 pm

Bochy was aggressive there, I like it always when you force the defense to make a play.
Big risk sending runners with one down and K machine Longo up.
But, the throw was bad, and run scores, take the lead. If not, Longo Ks and you’re sitting there with 2 down in the same iffy situation. When you’re not hitting, force some action…

  58. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:29 pm

My point is Cutch should be running once he’s on 1st. The ball gets away from the catcher on the 1st pitch and it would have been an easy steal

  59. Macdog said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:31 pm

    Unfuckingreal.

  60. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:31 pm

    ohfuck

  61. blade3colorado said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:31 pm

You knew it had to happen – both Goldie hitting a bomb and Strickland being responsible.

  62. willedav said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:32 pm

    Dang that was crushed.

  63. Lurker John said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:32 pm

    Jesus Christ Strickland. Horrible pitch.

  64. snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:32 pm

    Friggin Musclehead.
What is this friggin idiot doing throwing a FB right down the middle to Goldie with 2 strikes.
Where is the magic Smoltz slider? That’s when you use it.
    Did he shake off Buster?
    Absolutely moronic…

  65. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:32 pm

Jesus. We should trade 20 guys on the active roster for Goldie. Just so I don;t have to see him kill us 500 more times.

  66. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:34 pm

1-1 count, but he missed the target by a lot.

  67. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:34 pm

Buster set up low and away but Strick grooved it.

  68. blade3colorado said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:35 pm

Who’s left in the bullpen? Zilch I think, since Gomez got sent down.

    • blade3colorado said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:36 pm

      Maybe Johnson or Okert.

  69. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:36 pm

In the words of Aretha Franklin, we jjust got to TCB right now.

  70. Lurker John said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:37 pm

Guy can fucking hit. I wish he wasn’t such a nice guy so I could hate him, but I can’t.

  71. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:37 pm

We got our best guy up . . GOrjjys!

  72. zumiee said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:37 pm

Specs with another quality AB late in a game.

  73. Lurker John said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:37 pm

    That ball was launched.

  74. snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:38 pm

I am listening on radio, not watching.
Seriously, did any of you guys see the signing sequence on that gopher ball?
Did Musclehead shake off Buster, to throw a FB in that count?
If he didn’t, it’s partially Buster’s fault for calling for a FB.
You do not risk throwing a FB to Goldie there. You have him with count leverage, you should make him reach, make him go fishing. Unreal…

    • unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:41 pm

No, the target was low and away. Strick left it over the opiate,.

  75. snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:39 pm

Thank Keereist that Lamb is on the DL…

  76. alleykat69 said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:39 pm

Any other hitter up there “The Giants win” but it was Goldschimdt and he was way overdue,in fact he was probably pissed he trailed Longoria till that point..Man that ball was scolded..

  77. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:40 pm

    Meaningful hit time?

  78. James said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:41 pm

Walk’s as good as a hit with RISP!

    • unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:45 pm

And they result in 0 runs like the other RISPs tonight

  79. snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:42 pm

At least the Giants are competitive so far.
Last season it was pretty much turn out the lights if they got down by 2 early, like tonight…

  90. zumiee said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:47 pm

    Strickland gets the win!

    • snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:48 pm

      Fine performance it was…

  91. willedav said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:49 pm

Giants shorthanded as they are have played LA and AZ dead even. Total team effort tonite after the kid put them in the hole right away.

  92. snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:50 pm

I would cut Oshit after this game, I don’t care if he has no options, whatever.
Bring up anybody to replace him.
    DFA Blanco, bring up Williamson…

    • willedav said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:54 pm

well, the guy that should be waived on performance alone is Pence. Blanco and Gorks have both been fine so far…how much rope they give him remains to be seen. Love to see Mac win LF.

  93. willedav said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:50 pm

pavs tweeted something about how few walks they’ve had all year and then 7 in last few innings.

  94. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:52 pm

They need like 3-4 games in a row like this.

    • willedav said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:54 pm

      boch would need more stents.

    • unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:57 pm

      Well, by that I mean scoring 5 runs . . .

  95. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:55 pm

Take this series and it’ll be a real feather in their cap. Don’t know who’s replacing Cueto though. Suarez?

    • zumiee said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:57 pm

      Yes.

  96. zumiee said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:56 pm

For the moment, the Giants are second place in the division.

  97. snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 10:57 pm

Bochy needs to manage this year like his hair is on fire. Unllke last season.
No more managing like Earl Weaver waiting for Boog Powell to hit a 3 run dinger, when Boog is in the RF pavilion smoking a brisket.
Move the runners like he did in bottom of the 8th. Make something happen, force the defense to make a good play, dammit. They’ll either make a good throw to the plate, or make a bad one to second on the steal…

    • zumiee said, on April 10, 2018 at 11:00 pm

The problem is all the unproductive spots in the lineup. That’s gotta change.

      • snarkk said, on April 10, 2018 at 11:07 pm

Well, they turned over 3 starting position spots for $31 million.
        They’re rolling with those guys.
Jackson is a platoon guy, I just don’t see how playing him with Gorkys or subbing in Blanco does much for that position offensively. It doesn’t. Team is just not very athletic. And, it’s old.
Still, the Pen looks like it could be pretty damn decent, if it’s not worn out early…

  98. unca_chuck said, on April 10, 2018 at 11:48 pm

Craw is worrisome. I didn’t think he’d be nearly this ineffective. 5 of his 7 hits are singles. in 29 ABs.
