A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Stuck On Top Of The Hump

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on May 18, 2018

Colorado has done a very nice job of building an A+ bullpen. It will be interesting to see if these guys can keep it going this year with all the wear and tear on the body and the arm they have to deal with way up there…..

I’m trying not to be down on Pierce Johnson. He’s given up no hits in 11 of his 18 outings this year. He’s really only had 1 horrible game. Bottom line is that we didn’t get enough hits, bombs or singles, last night…..

Lame weekend coming up. Pimlico track likely to be screwed up with water. I still like Good Magic but won’t be surprised if this is an easy win for Justify. And then we have to deal with the idiotic Royal Wedding on Sat, too. All those people just need to go away.

On Sunday, Dubs rolling at Oracle. Three more at AT&T and I don’t feel good about any of these games.

At least we have our ace going tonight…..

The old Zito quality start for Holland…

our ace would be a decent five–but all of our other current starters would be too

Belt has some fluid in his knee, but it’s not serious.
    ???

I hope the ticker tape is bringing you good news Gomez, cuz I worry about your future as a ballplayer….

    Baggs rippin’ Actionless on Twitter:

Desmond’s RBI double had a 45 percent hit probability and was in the air forever. One of these days the Giants will have a center fielder with at least average range. Oh wait, they already do at Triple-A

The Austin Jackson signing was questionable only if the Giants planned to play him exclusively in center field. They said they would play him at all three spots as a No.4 outfielder.

    (verifies stats)

They have played him exclusively as a center fielder. .

He has to be the first in the OF to go…he is beyond sucking….he’s a fucking strikeout blackhole, and sucks in the OF…

    Here’s what Duggar did tonight.

Oh, and Mac hit a HR.

    • xoot said, on May 18, 2018 at 9:27 pm

now there’s an athlete showing his athleticism. get him up here. bring Slater and MacWill too

I don’t mean to throw a ton of shade at Bum–hell, if I were in charge he’d be a Giant for life. I just don’t think that other teams value him as highly as we do. He’s won four games in the last 14 months. If you think you’re gonna get a Bartolo Colon to the Expos caliber haul of prospects for him, it ain’t happening.

  8. chipower9 said, on May 18, 2018 at 9:27 pm

Just when you have a potential 2out rally going, Actionless is AB…ouch.

  9. zumiee said, on May 18, 2018 at 9:27 pm

Here’s Mac playing the outfield tonight.

Right on -Belt PHing for Actionless….

  11. willedav said, on May 18, 2018 at 9:30 pm

I think off season would be optimum time to let it be known Bum was available if Giants wanted to play it that way. Might attract more teams/offers. At deadline, don’t see more than a team or two going in, barring injury.
And no, SF ain’t getting the next R Acuna on mystique alone.
Dodger suckitude so far tho just changes entire dynamic of whole division, which is wide open.

I do not know how the hell Belt watched that pitch for strike 3…damn.

  13. djloo27 said, on May 18, 2018 at 9:32 pm

Why the fuck would he not swing at that???

  14. Macdog said, on May 18, 2018 at 9:34 pm

That will not be a disputed called strike 3.

  15. xoot said, on May 18, 2018 at 9:34 pm

that pitch was a strike. Belt effed up

    • djloo27 said, on May 18, 2018 at 9:41 pm

It was as if he was entirely unaware of the count, the score, and the game situation.
Just had to be a stubborn, dumb fuck who has to have his perfect pitch no matter what else is going on….

      • xoot said, on May 18, 2018 at 9:46 pm

he hasn’t been so bad this season. He’s been aggressive. Not so often frozen by heat on the black, imo. Maybe coming off the bench chilled him tonight.

    • willedav said, on May 18, 2018 at 10:07 pm

      definitely.

  16. willedav said, on May 18, 2018 at 9:38 pm

Good IF D tonite by both teams. Couple nice plays from Specs.

  17. xoot said, on May 18, 2018 at 9:38 pm

after Adrianza for so many years, isn’t Specs a delight?

    • chipower9 said, on May 18, 2018 at 9:57 pm

Yep…just wish he brought a bit more with his stick…

  18. sandog said, on May 18, 2018 at 9:52 pm

I think with Belt you just have to accept that its gonna be a bit of a rollercoaster. He’s gonna go down looking in some tough spots, but in the end the numbers are going to real solid. I don’t think he has turned a corner and decided to be more aggressive. He is who he is.

3 in 5 has mellowed me on stuff like that. If we were still 0 for San Francisco, I’d probably be screaming at the TV when he goes down looking in a big spot.

    • xoot said, on May 18, 2018 at 9:56 pm

did you see or hear radio-side Belt’s 21-pitch AB? that Belt is different than previous incarnations. the HRs so far tend to support it, don’t they?

      • sandog said, on May 18, 2018 at 9:59 pm

He was on pace to have a nice homer year last year too, wasn’t he? Especially for a lefty at ATT.

Did not hear or see 21 pitch AB as it was happening.

      • xoot said, on May 18, 2018 at 10:04 pm

he was, last year, but right now he’s on pace for close to 40. I also don’t think the old Belt would’ve called out the ump the other day. But I’m probably being overly optimistic. I suppose there are other explanations for a power surge and bad anger management . . . hey, . . .

      • sandog said, on May 18, 2018 at 10:09 pm

My main thing with him is just hoping he can play a full season.

    • chipower9 said, on May 18, 2018 at 9:58 pm

Thanks for the reminder…I’ll take a pause and bask…

    Blackmon has a mullet.

  20. snarkk said, on May 18, 2018 at 10:05 pm

Valdez not ready for prime time…

    • xoot said, on May 18, 2018 at 10:12 pm

my son is really annoyed by how much Valdez resembles Casilla at his worst–as if some weak ghost survived in the Giants’ pen

  21. willedav said, on May 18, 2018 at 10:07 pm

Bochy keeping 13 pitchers is kinda silly if clowns like Valdez Snelten yada yada are part of it.

  22. chipower9 said, on May 18, 2018 at 10:16 pm

That was some really weak shit…

    • zumiee said, on May 18, 2018 at 10:19 pm

The Giants weren’t competitive tonight, and the Rockies are looking like the pace-setter in the division now.

  23. xoot said, on May 18, 2018 at 10:24 pm

    hasta mañana

  24. snarkk said, on May 18, 2018 at 10:44 pm

Giants only hit one outfield out this game, rest of their outs were infield grounders, pops, and strike outs…
