A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Putting An L On The Board

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on May 28, 2018

Friends, prepare for annihilation. Total wipe out destruction. Look away, this one is going to be hideous.

I’d like to say, “hey this is baseball, anything can happen.” But I don’t really believe that anything can happen. About the only thing I can think of to hold on to is that Colorado is only 9-12 at home. But that’s obviously a freak stat that will correct itself starting tonight.

Thank God we have The Dubs to distract us from this nightmare.

Hopefully bad things don’t come in twos.

Giants calling up Derek Rodriguez (Pudge’s son). These jokers with the hair, Jesus.

Harden might play 45 minutes tonight.

Rockets look like they want it more…

  7. unca_chuck said, on May 28, 2018 at 6:42 pm

Wow. Offensive rebounds will be the death of them.

  8. unca_chuck said, on May 28, 2018 at 6:43 pm

It’s early but they have given up 8 offensive rebounds

  9. unca_chuck said, on May 28, 2018 at 6:44 pm

Steph has to start shooting. Leaving it to KD is not gonna work if he keeps shooting bricks.

This is shaping up to being a rout.

Giants take 5-4 lead. Suarez goes 5 (of course) and allows 5 hits (of course) and 4 runs.

I’ve never seen this happen before – I am about a half inning behind via my internet feed. Consequently, it was still 4-3 Rockies when you posted that.

  12. unca_chuck said, on May 28, 2018 at 6:49 pm

That’s what you said last game.

  13. Lurker John said, on May 28, 2018 at 6:52 pm

Maybe, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen. They’re playing poorly.

  14. Macdog said, on May 28, 2018 at 6:52 pm

    Pablo would’ve had that.

  15. Lurker John said, on May 28, 2018 at 6:52 pm

And they’re not at home this time.

  16. Lurker John said, on May 28, 2018 at 6:54 pm

How do they look to you, Chuck, like a championship team? Fuck.

  17. unca_chuck said, on May 28, 2018 at 6:55 pm

KD is playing like a chump. Jesus. These guys deserve to get run out of the building.

Not sure which game will have the most lead changes. Just hope there are an even number in Giants game, an odd number for the Warriors.

this is the definition of a choke job by the Dubs. All these missed free throws–fucking head cases right now

  20. willedav said, on May 28, 2018 at 7:00 pm

I was against him (and Gorks) from day one but keeping Sando around has paid dividends.

    • blade3colorado said, on May 28, 2018 at 7:03 pm

Yeah Willie, I am softening on Panda too. He made some excellent plays last night at 2nd, e.g., knocking down that would be base hit to his right for an out and the DP. Couple that with his fairly good overall utility play, I’m fine with him being on the roster. For less than $500k, he’s a bargain.

  21. willedav said, on May 28, 2018 at 7:02 pm

Love Barry Eisler, esp the John Rain ones. He eventually brings him back too in one of his later novels.
Local guy too who used to hang out in Palo Alto/Menlo Park area, over at Borrone’s coffee shop next to Kepler’s.

    • blade3colorado said, on May 28, 2018 at 7:07 pm

Willie, you have to read the 2 Livia Lone novels. I haven’t read the first one, but supposedly it is better than the 2nd one I am reading and that one is excellent . . .She teams up with Dox (love that character) of whom I am certain you are familiar with. Also, just completed the novel where Rain is in his 20s (2nd one he has done of him younger). Again, it’s excellent.

The brilliant Eric Gordon, career nothing, lighting up Golden State.

  24. unca_chuck said, on May 28, 2018 at 7:05 pm

They had a chance to finish strong, but they failed. KD is wearing this so far. Thing is, they Dubs should be down 22, so they’ll prolly come back and win.

  25. unca_chuck said, on May 28, 2018 at 7:08 pm

I mean they will come back and win. They couldn’t have played a worse half and are still close enough.

  26. unca_chuck said, on May 28, 2018 at 7:13 pm

Career nothing? Gordon’s one of the best backup guards in the league. He was 6th man of the year last year.

    • Lurker John said, on May 28, 2018 at 7:40 pm

      He ain’t shit.

    “next to Kepler’s.”
I’ve been to Kepler’s! I drove the 2 hours to get there to go to a Neal Stephenson book signing. I just couldn’t pass up the chance to meet such a huge favorite author of mine. The place was packed, but I did get a chance to chat with him a bit. I’m sure he was digging the fact I had bought so many of his books. 🙂

    • djloo27 said, on May 28, 2018 at 7:23 pm

I never heard of any of these authors you guys talk about. I was born with a pretty good brain but never applied it to anything intellectual. I only looked up to ballplayers, gamblers, misfits and drunks…

  32. blade3colorado said, on May 28, 2018 at 7:41 pm

Loo, I like you and the others here, because the commonality is baseball. It’s timeless and nostalgic. No matter what, it makes you think of older times some way or another. It’s just crazy that it’s been the same game for so long and people have enjoyed it the same way you or I am doing right now.

Baseball moves at a leisurely pace, allowing plenty of time for conversation and speculation about strategy, e.g., see us Flappers talking about the game, as well as books, politics, food, music and everything else under the sun. It’s fun to go to a baseball game on a gorgeous summer day or night, sit in the fresh air, eat a hot dog, and enjoy our team.

Again, I like you and everyone else here because I have gotten to know each of you on a personal basis here and in person via this beautiful game called baseball.

How does a professional basketball team miss 25 straight 3 pointers?

    • unca_chuck said, on May 28, 2018 at 7:57 pm

It aibn;t as easy as they make it look.

    • Lurker John said, on May 28, 2018 at 8:01 pm

Find a local court, stand about 23 feet away from the basket and try to make a few. Now imagine some of the best athletes in the world trying to stop you. It’s hard. But 25 in a row is a lot.

      • djloo27 said, on May 28, 2018 at 8:07 pm

Plenty of those shots are wide open looks, LJ.
I do it all the time (against some of the best 10 year-olds in the neighborhood)…

      • Lurker John said, on May 28, 2018 at 8:08 pm

23 footers? You’re a better man than me.

  37. unca_chuck said, on May 28, 2018 at 7:57 pm

JJeebus. Steph hit by 2 guys, no call, Harden goes in uncontested, foul. Ball don;t lie though, and didn’t go in on the foul shot.

  40. willedav said, on May 28, 2018 at 8:04 pm

Bochy gambling here trying to save pen by letting Watson go back out there.
Chance to pick up W tho if he can hold them off/Giants score.

  43. Macdog said, on May 28, 2018 at 8:05 pm

This might be a bigger gag job than that one by the Thunder a couple years ago.

  44. wilcojoe said, on May 28, 2018 at 8:13 pm

KD flat out came to play tonight.

  45. Macdog said, on May 28, 2018 at 8:14 pm

We go to the 10th. Amazing how the Rox haven’t punished the Giants for every little mistake as they usually do at Coors.

    • willedav said, on May 28, 2018 at 8:30 pm

Arenado vs. Strick. what could go wrong?

  46. Macdog said, on May 28, 2018 at 8:16 pm

    Rockets could’ve used Justin Verlander.

  47. willedav said, on May 28, 2018 at 8:19 pm

It is interesting…Jax has sucked. He gets bunt down 2 runners in scoring position but MTO out of game bottom order coming up.

Congrats to the Warriors! Beat LeBron again!

  52. Lurker John said, on May 28, 2018 at 8:27 pm

I guess I’m just going to have to come to grips with the fact that the Warriors are a second half team. Slow, sloppy starts are just the way they come out a lot of the time.

  53. djloo27 said, on May 28, 2018 at 8:34 pm

Looks like Gorkys can throw, too…

    Bring on LeBron, again…
Dubs in 5 for another title?…

    • Lurker John said, on May 28, 2018 at 9:05 pm

      Yeah.

  65. snarkk said, on May 28, 2018 at 10:09 pm

Austin Jackson needs to go on the DL.
The reason is irrelevant, he just needs to go onto it.
Dude is hapless, helpless, and whatever “less” is applicable for the day…

  66. unca_chuck said, on May 28, 2018 at 10:30 pm

Houston faded big time. Steph payed the entire 2nd half minus like 45 seconds and still had energy. Thompson could likely play another game. KD had some gas left in the tank. Harden and Ariza were gassed. Completely wiped out.

Having Iggy back would help big time. May get little Javale time.

    • snarkk said, on May 28, 2018 at 10:33 pm

Big 3 went for 15 three pointers tonight, at about 45% rate.
      Good D, too.
      That’s hard to beat…

  67. unca_chuck said, on May 28, 2018 at 10:40 pm

  68. mrsprtdude said, on May 28, 2018 at 10:40 pm

    Jackson is useless. DUBS WIN:)
leaving 5 runners stranded in last 2 hurt.

  69. snarkk said, on May 28, 2018 at 10:55 pm

Laughable that Rockets fans, some of them anyway, blaiming refs.
Free throw attempts / made, shows Houston shot more than 50% FTs than Dubs.

    Dubs: 7/14
    Houston: 13/22
