A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Good And Bad in The Bay

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on May 29, 2018

Tough loss last night. Any game we have a chance to win on this brutal roadie we need to close the deal. Smarge in Nepal? Yikes. At some point this guy has to get back into the strike zone (although you could argue that was actually his problem last season).

Dubs/Cavs finals again. Four straight years. Is that a problem? Not if you’re a fan of one of those teams, I guess. But this is probably not ideal for the NBA if they are looking to keep fans buying season tickets to teams that apparently have no chance of ever seeing the finals.

I’m going with Dubs in 5 (assuming Love comes back). If he’s out I think we sweep them. Lebron can’t win a game completely alone against this stacked squad. I hate Cleveland fans and look forward to this wipe out.

Desmond beats them same way every time–they pitch him outside and takes it to RF.

this is amazing. Can you imagine the Warriors operating this way? What player will ever sign with Philly again with this joker in charge?

it defies any common sense at all. Like, does Gearrin have something on Bochy?

Giants are putting all their eggs in the Bum basket for his return. I don’t know why, because he can only win one game out of every 5. This roadie has had the wheels come off. Another slew of games showing why this thing should have been blown up. Cutch and Jackson truly are bad, they have me pining for the gold ol’ cycle days of Freddles in Denver. No way Slater and Duggar would be worse than this doggy doo duo OF…

You get the feeling the 2018 Giants will end up being a cautionary tale. “They delayed the tear-down rebuild for another year….”

      • zumiee said, on May 29, 2018 at 9:05 pm

I was all for trying a playoff run for this season, but it ain’t working.

      • blade3colorado said, on May 29, 2018 at 9:11 pm

Well, you know where I stood, but the Giants brass didn’t have the balls (brass?) to do a rebuild, fearing that it would equal empty seats. When you already have an old roster and you add more old guys, you inevitably risk more players on the DL. Right now, I think we rank number 3 in the MLB DL total time category and that doesn’t include Smarg’s likely visit (albeit, his season wasn’t likely to get any better anyway).

This is the same shit Philly did and it delayed their rebuild by 2-3 years.

Pavlovic says Rodriguez is ok. Good. I enjoyed watching him pitch.

    Loo-natic time…

At the trade deadline Cueto will still have $77 million guaranteed coming to him. Assuming he’s healthy, I’d send him and Minaj ($ 4.5 million guaranteed remaining) to the Yanks for Ellsbury ($57 million guaranteed remaining) and a couple of top prospects. Of course, I don’t really want Ellsbury, but you gotta offset a chunk of Cueto’s money and his risky health to make this deal happen. Yanks are desperate for a quality SP and determined to go all the way this year. Think about it before you say it’s crazy…

    • zumiee said, on May 29, 2018 at 9:51 pm

Will Cueto be healthy enough to pitch again this season?

    • blade3colorado said, on May 29, 2018 at 10:03 pm

It’s definitely not crazy because I’ve heard variations of this trade (also with Bum) with the Yankees most often being mentioned. Bottom line is that they need pitching and that need will become more urgent as the season goes on. We need prospects and the Yankees have the best farm prospects in the MLB.

      • snarkk said, on May 29, 2018 at 10:26 pm

Trade Bum and Cueto. Seriously, this team is going nowhere. The need for prospects is dire, this team is old and getting creaky. Get half a dozen prospects or more, and in 2 years nobody remembers that Cueto and Bum are gone…

No argument from me. I’m down with your proposal, as well as getting rid of some of the other dead wood.
