Bum Returns, Dwight Leaves

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 5, 2018

Is there something the baseball Gods are trying to tell us with the Giants crawling back to .500 for MadBum’s “opening day?” That was the percentage most of us threw out there when we discussed what the Giants would have to do while Bum and Cueto healed their broken bodies….

“broken bodies.” That term is hitting me hard right now. Dwight Clark was one of my favorite players of my lifetime, easily top 5 with #6 and beyond well down the list. He and Joe made sure I wouldn’t have to spend my youth not knowing what it felt like to win a championship. I was 12 years old the day he left earth and refused to let that ball hit the ground. Two weeks later we beat the Bengals and literally the rest of my life I’ve known this feeling.

This dude has a translator for the express purpose of “Don’t walk him and make sure he doesn’t get a hit.” I want that gig.

Buster left a lot of ducks on the pond tonight.

    • blade3colorado said, on June 5, 2018 at 9:33 pm

Bochy, being a duck hunter, probably told him the same thing.

Good thing they’ve drafted a catcher.

Surprised AZ pitching to craw here altho maybe they really aren’t

  10. James said, on June 5, 2018 at 9:51 pm

Seems improbable SF still has one more chance.

    • zumiee said, on June 5, 2018 at 9:53 pm

I know. It feels like we’re in the 11th inning.

  11. mrsprtdude said, on June 5, 2018 at 9:56 pm

I’m yelling at the TV for that dope to take a pitch. SHIT. For those of us who grew up in the 70’s and 80’s ( I was 16 when Joe and Dwight hooked up!) that is just bad baseball. GRR We have left 8 runners in the last 3 innings. Shit again!

    Lamb v. Strick = uh oh…

  13. willedav said, on June 5, 2018 at 9:58 pm

Stricknine adds fuel ⛽️ to the comeback!!

    • blade3colorado said, on June 5, 2018 at 10:03 pm

This last week we looked so dialed in. Tonight? Not so much so.

  16. snarkk said, on June 5, 2018 at 10:01 pm

Another misplay by Longoria lets a runner on. Seriously, Panda is arguably a better fielder at 3rd than him. And, Strick aids and abets by walking a no power .206 hitter; WTF?…

  17. willedav said, on June 5, 2018 at 10:03 pm

Dyson was hitting .206 with an OPS of .600 and no pop. No excuse for walking him and putting RISP.

  18. chipower9 said, on June 5, 2018 at 10:08 pm

Come on boys…erase the memory of this shit game…

  19. chipower9 said, on June 5, 2018 at 10:11 pm

Posey can win a little redemption, or add to the misery…

    • snarkk said, on June 5, 2018 at 10:17 pm

Yeah, Chi, he got the clutch hit there…

  20. snarkk said, on June 5, 2018 at 10:15 pm

That article from Chi on the Niners get together in Montana for Dwight was great.
Eddie D had his foibles, but he wanted to win dammit, and always has and will take care of his men.
There were players, management types, and support guys, all there. Awesome.
    Best friggin’ sports owner, ever…

    • chipower9 said, on June 5, 2018 at 10:19 pm

Absolutely. Those were glorious and memorable days for us Niner fans under Eddie D and Walsh.

  21. snarkk said, on June 5, 2018 at 10:18 pm

OK, Longo can really get some redemption here…

  22. chipower9 said, on June 5, 2018 at 10:18 pm

That (pinch-running) is the only action Actionless should see.

    Conga, baby!

    • snarkk said, on June 5, 2018 at 10:20 pm

      $6 million deal for a pinch runner…

      • chipower9 said, on June 5, 2018 at 10:23 pm

SMH. Charles Johnson just needs to make the call to eat that fucking contract. Actionless is a complete waste of sperm….

  23. snarkk said, on June 5, 2018 at 10:21 pm

Friggin’ gave the game away in the 9th…

  24. chipower9 said, on June 5, 2018 at 10:22 pm

    What bullshit…

Dust that shit off and get the series win tomorrow.

This upcoming roadie is going to be the biggest test of the year, IMO

  25. James said, on June 5, 2018 at 10:23 pm

Surprising that Longoria got a pitch that good to hit at the end there.

  26. chipower9 said, on June 5, 2018 at 10:24 pm

Night, girls. 6 o’clock spin class will be here quicker than you can say that game sucked balls…

  27. snarkk said, on June 5, 2018 at 10:24 pm

Still and all, this brand of Giants ball is far better than last year’s crap-fest. Competitive, with some energy…

    • blade3colorado said, on June 5, 2018 at 10:25 pm

Wow snarkk . . . you read my frickin’ mind (i.e., my post below).

  28. blade3colorado said, on June 5, 2018 at 10:25 pm

The good news is that this team more times than not, fights back. Last season, the 9th inning was a snore fest (and the 7th and 8th innings were sleep inducing as well).

  29. mrsprtdude said, on June 5, 2018 at 10:31 pm

Damn that sucked . Longoria needed a hit there and failed. Sigh
