Pitching Rich of The Middle Class

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on July 1, 2018

With Smargerine and Cueto coming back soon, two guys gonna have to go. It’s a great problem to have. Neither vet can come back thinking they’re just sliding comfortably back into their rotation slot. If nothing else, that guarantees focus and effort. And look, none of these Fives are going anywhere. With the exception of Holland, they’re all young. And the best part: they proved they belong up here. If Smarge can’t recapture his magnificent strikeout to walk ratio the Giants aren’t going to keep running him out there every fifth day, there is too much at stake. Glory and destiny is still firmly within reach. And while we don’t have a bunch of Lincecum’s and Cain’s in their prime down on the farm we have multiple guys who can get the job done. In today’s game, I will take that….

I still don’t understand why Minnesota just cast Baby Pudge aside. Their pitching staff is painfully average and non-descript. They couldn’t use a guy like Rodriguez in the rotation? They just let him go for nothing? None of that makes a lick of sense to me unless the answer is, the Twins are just run by buffoons.

Hundley is obviously the best back up catcher we’ve ever had. Anyone want to nominate a runner up? Terry Kennedy? Matt Nokes? lol. I got nothing.

my buddy is in Arkansas for the month trying to get signatures for some ballot measure. He sits every day in a walmart parking lot. I don’t think there is shade. Sounds awful.

The pitch clock is coming. Maybe next season.

  4. willedav said, on July 1, 2018 at 4:03 pm

just like Arenado, inevitable I guess for Golds to hit bomb off SF.
Johnson had clean inning before. consensus seems to be he is first to go when Smrdz/Cueto activated.

    • willedav said, on July 1, 2018 at 4:11 pm

Flav asked ? yesterday re: Golds or Judge. I’m biased having not seen much of judge except for bomb highlights, but I think if Golds could hit in NY he’d be impossible to pitch to with how he uses RF.

      • chipower9 said, on July 1, 2018 at 4:24 pm

Me, too (not knowing enough on Judge) to make that call. Isn’t Judge quite a bit younger?

  5. chipower9 said, on July 1, 2018 at 4:03 pm

Red alert! Get the hook. No fucking around and giving this game away!

  6. unca_chuck said, on July 1, 2018 at 4:08 pm

It sucks being on a delay and trying to comment here at the same time. With Giants Raw, I’ll just go live now, and catch the recap on Raw….

  9. zumiee said, on July 1, 2018 at 4:26 pm

Is there anything calmer in baseball than a Watson inning?

  10. chipower9 said, on July 1, 2018 at 4:27 pm

    Nice work by Watson…

  13. Lurker John said, on July 1, 2018 at 4:32 pm

And why the hell is Melancon up in the pen? Save situation, bring in Smith!

    • chipower9 said, on July 1, 2018 at 4:38 pm

Melancon will get his shots at closing, just not back-to-back…

  14. Lurker John said, on July 1, 2018 at 4:37 pm

Gorkys has two frozen ropes to that same spot today and nothing to show for it, though he did move two runners over.

No shit. What a waste of sperm…

  23. Lurker John said, on July 1, 2018 at 4:52 pm

Yeah, great idea bringing this guy in. He’s shaky as hell and a shell of whatever he was in Pittsburgh. No more 9th innings for Melancon.

  24. Macdog said, on July 1, 2018 at 4:52 pm

So much for Melancon getting back to the 9th inning.

  25. Lurker John said, on July 1, 2018 at 4:56 pm

    Great sweep!

Melancon = 4 x $16 million per year for this dude.
So far, $24+ million expended for a bust…

  33. snarkk said, on July 1, 2018 at 5:49 pm

Friggin Belt had one of his best ever games as a Giant.
2 Hits, 2 RBI, and a couple of top defensive plays that saved a lot of bacon…

And, I’m luvin’ some Slater. This dude has to play more…

Long but interesting article at the Hardball Times rating which fan-base has the best “fan experience” of all the teams. After analyzing various factors, they decide that Giants fans have the best fan experience.

From the article, a photo of the view at the Oakland Coliseum before Mt. Davis was built. What an act of destruction. And now the Raiders are moving away anyway.

I sat in those outfield bleachers many times in the 1980s. I used to go to watch AL teams before so much baseball was on TV. After Mt. Davis was built in the mid-1990s, I’ve rarely gone back at all.

Baggarly speculates that Samardzxxx to the Angels is a trade scenario that makes some sense.
Angels are one of 8 target teams that don’t require his consent to be traded. And, Angels need starters, big time…
