NFL
Of course we’ve won 2 in a row. That should nudge the front office into doling out extensions for Payroll Jane and Betty the Front Desk Whore, among others….
It’s Sunday so…..
What do you guys think about this?
My thoughts are that the Browns waited on the dude for 6 years. He’s not going to change. People don’t change, man. Dirt taught me that a while back…..
Anyway, I’m against it because it’s a flier and we don’t really need that right now.
I’d talk to the guy. He’s a supreme talent. Pot notwithstanding.
He’s gonna be cut tomorrow. No need to trade for him.
huh? There will be teams lined up to trade for this guy. Why would the Browns just release him?
Kinda long, but 11:40 is good. as is 12:36.
Stix’s birthday today. I wonder what he’s doing?
Happy birthday Carstie . . .
Hopefully having a blast and raking in gifts…
dick in a box isn’t something he asked for. I hope not anyway.
On knbr just now krukow called Chris Stratton one of the best arms in the National League. Wow.
What if he is?
There are ways a Giant fan can be lulled into some false optimism for 2019…
Ohio St and Horned Frogs was great game very entertaining. Frogs get UT next and they whomped SC too.
Exciting finish to SD St and ASU too as Tecs take down another pac 12 school. Not a good day over all for conference, looking like 2 top teams and not lot else.
BYU taking out Wisconsin does make Cal’s W look better.
Wow wonder what happened to Wisco, good guy I met at Flap numero uno First and Main.
Not to mention what happened to First/Main…guess it got sold and completely redone.
On F/G there was column about reseeding teams for playoffs once the WC battle was over. Instead of automatically having winner of WC game play best team, reseed them by games won regular season.
One blogger commented his plan would be do away with all the divisions entirely except for NL and AL and take top 5 from each league, with 4/5 becoming WC teams. This also allows for completely balanced schedule.
Interesting.
Man P Mahomes looks like one of the best arms in National (Football) league too.
It’s crazy! They look like Fouts’ Chargers…
Unfortunately on defense, too…
After all of the legal drama that the 49ers endured with the last regime, and those issues in the not so distant past, I would say that the 49ers do not need that element in their organization. I don’t know much about Gordon, but what I’ve heard and read don’t engender excitement as a desirable acquisition.
I wouldn’t mind a more balanced schedule. Bad for West Coast teams in terms of travel though. I just don’t need to see the Pads and Rox and Dbax 19 times. That’s about 6 games too many. More Cards, Cubs, Pirates, etc…
I’m with you, Snarkk and I don’t think the players would mind it that much. What’s another hour or two on a plane? You need some variety in such a long season. Different hotels, stadiums, restaurants, gyms, whores, etc, keep things interesting…
this is an incredible stat for where we are in the standings. If the front office can’t fix this offense then someone needs to fix them
Well anyone who blames ATT in any way for the crappy offense should also have to give it some credit for the positive pitching stats, right?
Chiefs have perfected the art of blowing a big lead…
Got that right Loo!
Should of been 28-0 zip, if not for a penalty, Pitt might of just mailed it in then, but noooo,
They get rolling now it’s 21-21 at the half, and Pitt has the momentum now..
I’m totally down with that.
Frank Gore now has the 4th most rushing yards in NFL history…
6 TD passes for Mahomes with 13 minutes left…
fun to watch. So was Gore as Niner, great at blocking too.
Loo funny you mentioned Chargers/Fouts era. Used to watch games with godson’s Dad who grew up in SD and absolutely loved Coryell days…and yeah Raiders always seemed to have their number eventually.
Coryell absolutely belongs in the hall of fame. Stupid he ain’t in.
Fucking Niners can’t score. Jimmy G should have avoided both those sacks. Stupid shit.
fuckin’ Kokonuts, man….

He gets to the essence of things. The complex web of social interaction.
This is a really fine song from McCartney’s new album.
Well, the link didn’t work. The song is called “I Don’t Know,” and I don’t know why the link didn’t work.
The album’s been out only about a week and there are already a bunch of cover versions of this song posted on YouTube.
This guy does a really nice job.
D-Rod pitched well after trouble early on in the game. He’s kept the game reasonably close.
The Giants are taking a lot of first pitch strikes against the Rockies pitcher. Wrong game-plan.
Rams have been going for 2 after their TDs today — now up to three — and getting it every time.
stupid and pointless and not enough
Our punt team is retarded. We fair catch balls with no one near us, and let it bound with the entire kicking team down there,
Amy lookin’ good today…
They are going to pin this on Booby?
The Giants’ new strength coach.

Who is most likely to be gone by opening day 2019?
A) Sandoval
B) Hundley
C) Panik
D) W. Smith
E) Dyson
F) Holland
G) Gorkys
I left out Strickland because I think he would’ve been everyone’s choice.
Also excluded the big $ guys who I consider immovable…
Easy choice in my opinion – Holland.
Both Holland and Hundley will have multiple offers. Hundley has the Giants over a barrel due to Posey’s injury and will want to be paid. Same for Holland.
Giants really want to keep Holland, they’ll be competitive with an offer. Plus, Holland knows this park butters his bread, I bet he wants to stay here big time
He does want to stay, but he’s on a minor league contract (I think). So the Giants will have to ante up if they want to retain him.
they will. I’m thinking he’ll be here next year, the Giants really need him. If someone blows them out of the water he’ll jet but how many teams are gonna line up to blow Dutch out of the water with an offer?
They need to keep Holland…
Well , that sucked.
Ok at least Giants managed to lose 1 game. Niners can’t tackle! Hopefully the cards can salvage one game. Loo I’d be ok if all those guys were gone except Smith. He has done very well, and his leaving would hurt the bullpen.
Niners should have lost that game 10 times.
Talk about pitching in tough luck, D-Rod is this year’s poster boy.
actually it’s DeGrom. He’s 8-9 with a 1.78 ERA
I meant for the Giants.
Evans and Tidrow are toast
I’d say Panik off Loo’s list. Hopefully Gorks too.
2b easy position to upgrade. It’s unfortunate Panik has had such rough year at plate. Love to have M Gonzalez.
Dyson iffy.
One way that I do think Giants need to adjust is in doing as much as possible to strengthen pen and even SP rotation with FA upgrade if possible. Spend the money to keep Holland and don’t stop adding pitching—giants even by adding a bat or 2 aren’t likely to be a power hitting team whether Posey or Belt come back stronger or not. so it behooves them to hold down other teams and keep runs allowed low as possible.
One of the big off-season focuses will be on structural changes to the game that the commissioner is fully committed to making happen. The top two changes are a pitch clock and some kind of limiting of shifts.
He also wants the DH in the NL, but he knows that will be a harder one to get.
If the Yankees get eliminated in the Wild Card game, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it changed to 2 out of 3 the next season,
Analyzing who will possibly be gone depends on who should stay. Mostly agree with Willie about the pitching: for the starters, can’t count on Cueto or Smarge for next year, but I think can reasonably count on Bum, D-Rod, Suarez and (gulp) Stratton (as long as he doesn’t father another child). Filling that 5th spot with the likes of Blach or Beede ain’t gonna work, so they’re going to need to get one more what I would call front-line starter. Holland should be kept, he can fill multiple roles. Bullpen looks mostly fine. Offense/defense/bench? Who should stay? The young ones: Hanson, Slater, Duggar, Shaw, Mac, Jones, et al. Panik, good guy, but.. he’s tradable. If they can get creative (does Sabes have one more major Kent or Danny Darwin trade in him?), I wouldn’t mind just about any of the other on-field 8 plus bench being gone.
Plus of course re: the front office, ala Xoot’s 5:55, Evans and Tidrow are likely gone. I’d like to see the FO overhauled along with manager so the team can start moving forward again, but I’m sure Sabes and Bochy still have one more year here…..
If Evans and Tidrow really are toast Baer/Sabean must replace them quickly to give the new guys time to make moves. We all remember how Sabean immediately made his big Williams Kent trade after becoming gm but he’d been promoted from within. Sabean had been in the FO since the new owners took over circa 93. (Iirc) I’m afraid it’s likely that a new crew now will move more slowly, over a couple of seasons (and high draft picks)
Maybe afraid is not the right word. Resigned is more like it
