A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

One Last Stand?

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on September 26, 2018

You know, it’s still shaping up to be a an epic weekend if Colorado can keep winning. I suppose we could beat LA in one of these games, maybe 2 if all hell broke loose. How great would it be if LA didn’t win the NL West again?

See, if we had rooted harder for Colorado 10 days ago maybe we wouldn’t be in this position. 🙂

But whatever, the Niners season is over, Dubs haven’t revved up yet, Bum’s hitting game winning singles, why not have some fun this weekend and screw the Dodgers a bit? We really need Grienke to step up big tonight….

This pic wins a Flappy nomination for best pic of the year

If the Giants could mess up the Dodgers this weekend that would be very memorable. The 2018 Giants would get a place in history.

GH’s Brewers right behind suddenly vulnerable Cubs too. I think cool thing this year was evidence trad favorites LA WAS CHI just aren’t as good as everyone thought they were. And players aren’t only issue.

fwiw F/G has added new feature solely on prospects. Bart comes in as one of top rated hitters in his brief career.
They also have team page tho the SF one is a little dated. Over all take is not much top rated strength but possible depth of mid range guys.
And remember, for all the shade thrown their way on farm just this year bunch of guys have shown some good things—Duggar Suarez DRod Moronta plus Slater Shaw Garcia Strat. Throw in Hanson that’s 9 new faces.

The new pitchers, even including Dutch, are solid. The faster Smargle gets the fuck out of Dodge the better, but the hitters are a bunch of middling powerless banjo players.

Garcia could be something, and Bart is the great white hope, but whither Helios?

Good eval unca . . . None of the new hitters (rookies) will help next season. On any other team, they would be utility players. Just my take, but the only break out star we have is the “money found under the cushion” guy, DRod. Stanton and Suarez are too inconsistent and moreover, their stuff doesn’t wow me. I see them as 4 or 5s. Same deal with Holland. Yes, all 3 did yeoman work plugging the holes of Madbum, Cueto, and Smarg’s absences, but I don’t see that being repeated next season.

Based on this year, D-Rod was a flat steal. But I fear Melon raising his ugly head as the closer next year. This team needs to learn how to cut bait. They are already singing the praises pf Pence and his late ‘surge’ of power.

At least Melancon will be $6 mil cheaper next year.

I did not want the Brew Crew to play the Flodgers in a one game wild card game, but now if the Rockies can make a run. and keep it tight, Flodgers will have to pitch Kershaw Sunday so he would not be available in a 1-game wild card:) Go Brewers!!!

    lol

When he was with the Phils, that phucker on the left fractured my hamate bone with a screaming line drive.

      • Flavor said, on September 26, 2018 at 1:39 pm

        Epic.

      • Bozo said, on September 26, 2018 at 2:20 pm

Yeah, and I took a bus out to the Stick that day, so I couldn’t leave until the game ended. I should have known better, it looked like a duck and cover drill around me and no one else went for it.

    this is funny

Avelino with a hit, finally, and one good throw to first (earlier). What a haul.

So what’s the over/under on Brett “Trainman” Kavanaugh? I predict he quits within five days of tomorrow’s hearing.

    • blade3colorado said, on September 26, 2018 at 8:06 pm

I don’t know Xoot, but I have a question for you (and/or snarkk) . . . A former girlfriend of Mark Judge indicates that Judge conveyed to her his involvement in a “moresome.” Does that constitute corroboration? In effect, my understanding of corroboration is evidence that tends to support a proposition that is already supported by some initial evidence, therefore confirming the proposition. True???

      • xoot said, on September 26, 2018 at 8:24 pm

I think any evidence that tends to support already existing evidence (and first-person testimony is the most common initial evidence) technically “corroborates.” Some corroborating evidence is stronger than other. I vaguely remember coming across strict requirements for corroborating evidence in a patent infringement case that involved the clear-and-convincing evidence standard. The problem here, however, is that there is no evidentiary standard applicable to these hearings. There is no prosecution or defense. So all of the pontificating now about evidence and corroboration is bullshit. It’s a free for all. In any event, voters will not ignore a line of credible women and a shit load of corroborating testimony about Kavanaugh’s dark side (nor, of course, will many of us ignore his apparent perjury, as the senator from Hawaii asked him the crucial questions earlier this month when he was under oath).

    • blade3colorado said, on September 26, 2018 at 8:08 pm

By the by, I hope the Judiciary Committee and Senate as a whole axes this selection. Just too many accusations in my opinion. In short, I hope you’re right about him quitting or not being approved.

    • blade3colorado said, on September 26, 2018 at 8:31 pm

Thank you for the detailed explanation!

  9. unca_chuck said, on September 26, 2018 at 8:19 pm

As long as this is stalled till after the Nov election.

    • xoot said, on September 26, 2018 at 8:26 pm

I agree. The Federalist Society has a long list of potential SCT justices who will be just as bad as Kavanaugh, and several on that list are women. But if this senate process blows up, the repubs may not have the votes to shove one of those right-wing shills into the slot.

    • unca_chuck said, on September 26, 2018 at 9:01 pm

Bingo. If the Republicans can force a 400 day hold, so can the Dems if they play this right.

  10. snarkk said, on September 26, 2018 at 9:05 pm

Ask yourselves who has the motive to lie? Kavanaugh, or Prof. Ford?
Kavanaugh has everything to gain, by lying about this, if he did assault her.
Prof. Ford has NOTHING to gain by lying, she correctly predicted her life would go to shit if she came forward to tell this story — yet she did. And SHE is asking for an FBI investigation, Kavanugh is NOT. If he wanted to clear his name, as professed ad nauseam, he would stand up in front of that committee tomorrow and demand they institute an FBI investigation to find corroboration to his story of total innocence. He won’t. Why? And, why is his drinking bud Mr. Judge hiding out on a beach house in Delaware?. Why won’t the GOTPs subpoena him to testify — Prof. Ford says he was in the ROOM and participated. In any judicial proceeding set to find facts, of course you grab a witness who was with the opposing witnesses to get a third witness’ POV from direct, personal experience…

    • blade3colorado said, on September 26, 2018 at 9:09 pm

      Good post.

    • xoot said, on September 26, 2018 at 9:19 pm

It’s entirely possible that Kavanaugh does not remember assaulting that 15 year old girl. It’s possible Judge doesn’t remember the event either. She, for understandable reasons, does remember. They may not be liars, they may just be criminal assholes who often got blind drunk in HS and assaulted girls. I believe Ford and I hope the hearing, bizarre as it will be, does her, and their other victims, justice. We’ll see.

Just a bunch of prep school fascists.

    Garcia! Strong dude.

  12. blade3colorado said, on September 26, 2018 at 9:13 pm

One more and he matches Buster . . . in less than 100 ABs.

    • willedav said, on September 26, 2018 at 9:49 pm

and a hitter I do believe could help the team next year. I’m not writing any of them off at this point in their very young careers.

      • blade3colorado said, on September 26, 2018 at 9:57 pm

Garcia can and possibly will be a back up to Posey versus Hundley, who was outstanding in the back up role, but will want to get paid. Consequently, this could be a good cost cutting move for the Giants. Hundley is not a very good receiver (terrible at framing) . . . I’m not sure about Garcia’s catching ability, but hopefully, he’ll be adequate. His OBP is terrible. I am almost certain that he doesn’t have a walk yet. Regardless, as long as he’s only backing up, he’ll do.

  13. zumiee said, on September 26, 2018 at 9:28 pm

Bum started against the Rockies recently, I think; so it’s only fair the Giants hold him until the Dodger series.

  14. willedav said, on September 26, 2018 at 9:50 pm

Wow what happened to phils, former contenders who are now under. 500? maybe next year they petition league to stay out of Denver.

    • willedav said, on September 26, 2018 at 9:54 pm

the Rox guy tonite struck out first 8 Phils he faced tying a ML record. One of those who did it was former Astro Jim Deshaies. Out of all the dumb Berman nicknames, that one was pretty good—Jim 2 Silhouettes on Deshaies.

  15. zumiee said, on September 26, 2018 at 9:59 pm

Greinke comes through against his former team.

  16. blade3colorado said, on September 26, 2018 at 10:04 pm

Roberts has had to talk with both Puig and Machado about their effort this season, e.g., the latter smashed a ball off the right field fence in Arizona on Monday night and stood in the batter’s box watching the ball rather than running. I guess he did this quite a lot in Baltimore too.

  17. mrsprtdude said, on September 26, 2018 at 10:04 pm

Rockies and Snakes did their part!!

Imagine how much fun it would be if we win 2/3 and the cards sweep? Dodgers left at the alter!!!

  18. zumiee said, on September 26, 2018 at 10:06 pm

    Garcia walked!

  19. blade3colorado said, on September 26, 2018 at 10:06 pm

    . . . and there’s his 1st career walk. lol
