Exciting Times (For Some)

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 1, 2018

While the Giants have been left for dead for what looks like many years of wandering in the wilderness, the rest of the baseball world is humming along at an exciting rate. We get not one but TWO epic Game 163’s to determine the NL Central and West division crowns.

I see the Dodgers and Brewers both winning but I want to see Milwaukee’s pitching plan first before going all in on them. If I were them I’d go bullpen game, they have the arms to do it. Starting Chacin doesn’t feel like they’d be firing their best bullet…..

You should win a Flappy for this level of commitment

      • zumiee said, on October 1, 2018 at 7:01 am

I can only dare to dream to win a Flappy.

      • Flavor said, on October 1, 2018 at 7:30 am

Wandering alone in the wilderness, my thoughts consuming me, that’s what I”d be dreaming of, too

Let’s go Brew Crew…hopefully the Rockies can pull this off and force the Flodgers into a one game wild card all the way in Chicago or Milwaukee at worst…hopefully that Brew Crew pen carries me all the way to WS victory…they have the hitting, they have the pen, are their starters serviceable enough????

I also like to see the Stros quietly destroy the AL…

  3. sandog said, on October 1, 2018 at 7:37 am

I’d much rather see the Brew Crew win it all than the Cubs, but I think the Cubs have a better chance of eliminating the Dodgers, so I’m pulling for them to win the division.

Gotta give credit to Bud Selig’s administration for this Wild Card format. It was a fantastic idea—right down to the identical starting times for all games on the last day.

    • Flavor said, on October 1, 2018 at 7:42 am

absolutely. Some don’t like the format, I love it.

  4. snarkk said, on October 1, 2018 at 7:53 am

Has anybody been fired yet? Or hired? Giants need to get this offseason going. Lots to do…

  5. unca_chuck said, on October 1, 2018 at 8:26 am

How Boch survives this I don’t know. Losing 197 games in 2 years is pretty fricking awful. Yeah he plays what he has, but he didn’t need to blow smoke up Pence’s ass all year, or keep throwing Cueto/Smargle out there when both were hurt, not getting Duggar and Slater going faster, and trotting Melonhead out there when he was scuffling badly. Strickland has been a piece of shit who has overstayed his welcome, on and on.

  6. unca_chuck said, on October 1, 2018 at 9:07 am

The format certainly makes for a pretty cool set of games in the next couple days. Can’t believe the O’s lost 115 games.

As a Giants fan, things could be a lot worse. 5 playoff appearances since the Orioles last WS win, 1983. , and it was won by Joe Altobelli, he of the improbable Giants 1978 division run. I assumed it was Earl Weaver back then for the O’s.

      A fantastic Styx album Chuck!
A buddy of mine who moved to Indian Wells text me to say he was going to see Styx at Aqua Calinte Casino in Rancho Mirage and do some gambling as well..

  8. unca_chuck said, on October 1, 2018 at 9:31 am

    Haven’t listened to this album in 35 years . . .

Another year has passed me by
Still I look a myself and cry
What kind of man have I become?
All of the years I’ve spent in search of myself
And I’m still in the dark
‘Cause I can’t seem to find the light alone

Sometimes I feel like a man in the wilderness
I’m a lonely soldier off to war
Sent away to die, never quite knowing why
Sometimes it makes no sense at all

Ten Thousand people look my way
But they can’t see the way that I feel
    Nobody even cares to try
I spend my life and sell my soul on the road
And I’m still in the dark
‘Cause I can’t seem to find the light alone

Sometimes I feel like a man in the wilderness
I’m a lonely sailor lost at sea
    Drifting with the tide
    Never quite knowing why
Sometimes it makes no sense at all

Looking for love I’m a man with emotion
    (And my heart’s on fire)
I’m dying of thirst in the middle of the ocean
    I’m alive!

Now that the Giants season has ended I sort of feel relieved – like passing a watermelon.

  10. blade3colorado said, on October 1, 2018 at 11:03 am

Echoing what snarkk said – Giants brass need to begin the rebuild ASAP and MUST have a GM in place before the annual General Managers Meeting in early November.

    • alleykat69 said, on October 1, 2018 at 11:14 am

      Agree Blade!
      My frontrunners are Jerod Mcleod
      Michael Girsch
      Jarrod Porter
      Dan Kanstizik (sp?)

      • wilcojoe said, on October 1, 2018 at 11:21 am

Are those potential GM’s or Trump’s next cabinet member?

      • blade3colorado said, on October 1, 2018 at 11:25 am

I also like 2 females, Kim Ng and Jean Afterman. I hope both of them are considered too. What I don’t want to see – are retreads like Mike Rizzo. Baer said something about the next GM being “next gen.” To me that describes someone as being relatively young and knows analytics.

  11. dirtnrocksnomo said, on October 1, 2018 at 11:42 am

I can see Ng or Afterman getting the gig. Deservedly so as both are qualified. Plus Baer can’t resist the pr angle.

  12. Irish Kevin said, on October 1, 2018 at 1:45 pm

I don’t think I have ever seen a Giants team just lay down against the Dodgers, like they did this last weekend. What happened to playing with pride.

    • blade3colorado said, on October 1, 2018 at 2:28 pm

Kev, I don’t think they laid down, especially for the Dodgers. All of our players play with pride. Frankly, our team sucks and just doesn’t have the “horsepower” to stay with a team like the Dodgers. I think all of the players were disgusted with the score yesterday, but again – their skills aren’t nearly good enough to keep up with an elite team like the Bums. Their record of 5-20 for the month of September is the worst in franchise history. That says everything about this team.

    BOOOOOM ! Max Muncy!

    • zumiee said, on October 1, 2018 at 3:04 pm

Known around here as Juice-box Muncy.

      • theroooster said, on October 1, 2018 at 3:44 pm

That’s a good one. A bunch of Barroid worshipers wondering about some other team’s player juicing? Would he be using the cream or the clear? Barry used both, he admitted it. And you love him. Now you want to cast unsubstantiated claims on some other guy? Hilarious.

      • djloo27 said, on October 1, 2018 at 4:05 pm

Dude, if you weren’t hiding all year, you would know that we’ve all but had our very own Gorkys arrested…

  14. unca_chuck said, on October 1, 2018 at 3:04 pm

You weren’t even alive in 1988, Chick Fil-A.

  15. unca_chuck said, on October 1, 2018 at 3:06 pm

Cubs n Rox. Or is it Rubs n Cox??

Don’t worry, Capon, Jensen has plenty of time to melt down.

  16. unca_chuck said, on October 1, 2018 at 3:09 pm

AK, that’s the only Styx album I have. Got it, and 9 other records, for a penny! The Columbia House 10 LPs for one cent deal.

    • djloo27 said, on October 1, 2018 at 4:01 pm

How did that work out, Chuck? I remember it well but seemed like everyone said it was a scam that forced you to buy more shit forever…

      • zumiee said, on October 1, 2018 at 4:21 pm

You were supposed to buy 5 or 6 albums at full price to fulfill the obligation. But they also sent a letter every two weeks or so with the name of a featured album, and you had the send a card back in a week or so to say you DIDN’T want the featured album, or they would automatically send it to you, with the bill. A lot of people put letters like that in a stack, and procrastinate, and then here comes that album in the mail with the bill. I don’t think you were allowed to send the featured album back. I’m guessing there probably was a clause that said the “featured” albums didn’t count towards your completion of the obligation.

    You called it, unca!

  18. Macdog said, on October 1, 2018 at 4:36 pm

Congrats to the Brew Crew, they went after it hard with their moves in the offseason and it paid off with a division title.

    • blade3colorado said, on October 1, 2018 at 4:47 pm

Agree John . . . I’ll be rooting for them and my “closet” favorite, Cleveland, to win it all. I wont be disappointed if the Astros win it either.

  19. alleykat69 said, on October 1, 2018 at 4:56 pm

And to think the brew crew use to have Kris Davis! How the hell did the A’s pull off that trade? And why would the Brewers give up on a guy that was already showing power numbers with them?

  20. Flavor said, on October 1, 2018 at 4:56 pm

LA winning the division again is cute. 6 years in a row? Impressive. Now if they could just win one of them dern trophy things everyone’s been talking about….

    • alleykat69 said, on October 1, 2018 at 5:08 pm

      Never gonna happen!
      Fuck the Dodgers!
Real teams get it done in the playoffs, they don’t and never will!
So kiss my Giants ass LA!

I’m telling you all this is the year of Brew Crew….Kavanugh…I mean!!!

    • gianthead said, on October 1, 2018 at 6:02 pm

What a great game from the Brewers today. They are in driver’s seat in the NL. Wish the Fodgers had to travel to Wrigley…oh well God is with us in keeping the Fodgers from the Promised Land…

  22. Lurker John said, on October 1, 2018 at 6:08 pm

So it takes this game to bring the Dodger turd out of the woodwork? Where the fuck was he the rest of the year? Or after the Dud-gers choked away the World Series? Yeah, crying in his Cheerios. Now he comes around trolling the Giants board. ROFL!

    • Flavor said, on October 1, 2018 at 6:15 pm

he shows up when they win that piddly little division crown, then he’ll spend the rest of the post season on a long, extended dinner.

  23. mrsprtdude said, on October 1, 2018 at 7:10 pm

Thank god i was out of town, and the kid has no cable. Upon review…

The most embarrassing game in franchise history? That is not an over reach. Imagine this. a MUST WIN GAME for the Dodgers. They have a young stud. Dominating. Best pitcher they have.

Dodger brass in a meeting Sat night. Excited Walker Buehler is ready to go. But wait a minute. These Giants SUCK, and we will beat them whoever we throw, so lets hold Walker back for the extra game if the Rockies win. Roberts says “hey shouldn’t we worry about tomorrow??” Brass NAH Giants are dead. They suck. No life.

And lo and behold we roll over 15 fucking 0. Outscored late sat and Sun 25-1.

    Bochy must go.

    • Flavor said, on October 1, 2018 at 7:57 pm

25-1 really hits home, doesn’t it?

  24. zumiee said, on October 1, 2018 at 8:34 pm

Today on KNBR, Bochy said, if not for injuries, the Giants would have won the division. And he thinks the Giants can win the division next year.
    Uh, OK….

    • xoot said, on October 1, 2018 at 8:41 pm

well, yeah, but he was appearing on the air by phone after a 9 course lunch in Napa that included exotic cannabis and wine pairings with each dish served

    • djloo27 said, on October 1, 2018 at 9:29 pm

He’s counting on bounce-back years from Toomgis, the door closing dummy, Clint and the popsicle house.
      So am I…

  25. mrsprtdude said, on October 1, 2018 at 8:58 pm

At one point Dodgers had 5 starters and had brought up Beuhler because of injuries. At one point LA had 5/6 of them on the DL at the same time. They also had Turner hurt a lot. I hate to say this but they have more talent and more depth. If Bochy and Sabean can’t see this they are delusional.

  26. djloo27 said, on October 1, 2018 at 9:00 pm

Nobody in charge ever bad mouths their players – at least individually.
    They just make lame excuses…

  27. djloo27 said, on October 1, 2018 at 9:04 pm

I’d like to know where Puig got those aluminum Bud pints with the re-screwable caps.
    Can’t find ’em here lately..
