A Perfect Friday Night

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 20, 2018

I don’t know about Craig Counsell or any of you guys, but I think it’s high time we see how many innings Josh Hader can pitch.

How bout those Brewers, eh? They give up a first inning bomb to post season magician Freese, and come on had that been the Giants giving it up it would have been game fucking over, and then they storm back and STOMP Loser Angeles.

Anyway, Game 7 let’s Go!!!!

J hit his first couple 3s too, nice game off bench. Great ballgame.

I think Chuck is right, LA wins closer to 40 games. If I was conspiracy person it would be believable NBA orchestrated LB move there–perfect for marketing. LB can’t lose–if they win it’s because of what he brings and if they lose it ain’t his fault. Plus he is in front of packed house where he can flex and pound his chest all he wants and spout whatever “we’re still learning” platitudes about rest of team failures.

Their outside shooting very suspect (7-30 in Portland LB 0-4). Other teams will out bomb them and dominate guard play. Rondo is weird guy who has burned bridges before and commands ball…too many mis matched parts for them to get by better teams in West, of which there are a lot.

    • Flavor said, on October 20, 2018 at 9:06 am

agree on the mismatched parts comment. But Lebron has a lot more talent now than he had last year. If he can get Ingram and Kuzma to take another step, and I really think Josh Hart is underrated, then he could have himself a team this year….Ingram needs to shoot less,he will with Lebron around.
Ball is a lost cause, it was a dumb pick at the time and it will go down as one of their worst first round picks ever.

one of the nbc columns different area mentioned Astros FAs…wonder how they play the offseason?

    • djloo27 said, on October 20, 2018 at 9:11 am

We have anything they can use?

Read through Ron Fairly’s bio, mostly Dodger centric but does touch on his later career in AL and broadcasting.
One funny story (out of many): Koufax decided one spring he wanted to add a slider and said he’d try it on Aaron..”If it works on him it’ll work on anyone.”
So he throws one and Aaron hits it a mile foul. Aaron tells Roseboro, “Tell him he doesn’t need another pitch.”
Koufax said, “If Hank Aaron says I don’t need it, then I don’t.”

      That’s awesome.

  4. zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 10:01 am

Altuve just had knee surgery. He wasn’t fully himself this season.

  5. zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 10:04 am

These finalist teams have so much heat in the bullpens. The thought of Melancon getting innings next season is a big bummer.

  6. zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 10:06 am

I’m not comfortable with Beuhler vs. Chacin. Counsel needs to have the quick hook ready, if needed.

    • Flavor said, on October 20, 2018 at 10:13 am

oh i don’t think you have to worry about the quick hook, lol. Hader might throw 250 pitches today.

      • zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 10:48 am

I get nervous about the promise of quick hooks sometimes. Dusty promised a quick hook ready for Livan in game 7. It wasn’t nearly quick enough.

      • zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 10:49 am

But, Council is a different breed of cat, true.

  7. Lurker John said, on October 20, 2018 at 10:46 am

Great job by the Crew last night. That bullpen is stacked with talented arms. As a Giants fan, I’m jealous.

I have no idea how the W’s pulled that rabbit out of their ass, but they did. First half defense seems to be a foreign concept to them and their head coach.

    • Flavor said, on October 20, 2018 at 12:22 pm

it’s probably pretty hard to get these guys to give a shit about both ends of the court these days. Maybe Draymond, that’s about it.

  8. zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 1:01 pm

Great name, Donovan Peoples-Jones, receiver for Michigan, nice touchdown catch and run.

  9. snarkk said, on October 20, 2018 at 2:57 pm

Looks like David Bell is the favorite to be Reds new manager. So much for HIS re-tool of the Giants farm.
Somebody else takes that on now.
Maybe the Giants should have hired Bell as their new manager…

    • blade3colorado said, on October 20, 2018 at 4:01 pm

Yep. A couple of reliable Reds sites have him as a shoo-in. Plus, Schulman tweeting Bell has eliminated himself from the Giants GM job (as well as from the Rangers manager’s position search).

    • xoot said, on October 20, 2018 at 5:49 pm

The list of potential gm candidates gets repeated by every beat writer now, although it took Schulman a while to catch up. Obviously the Giants aren’t telling anyone anything clear. Ng is still on every list although I haven’t seen evidence actually supporting the teams interest in her. Apparently an interview is “planned.”

    Wut.

  11. Flavor said, on October 20, 2018 at 4:56 pm

30 years ago tonight they last won a world series??? Why am I just now heating about this glorious anniversary? Here’s to another 30!

  12. djloo27 said, on October 20, 2018 at 4:59 pm

Marichal is 81 today. Amazing that the 5 HOF Giants of the 60’s are all over 80 and alive.
    Felipe Alou, too…

  13. djloo27 said, on October 20, 2018 at 5:04 pm

The Celtics have a big General Electric logo on their uniform.
Does every NBA team have a corporate sponsor on their uni now?
Would they turn down Preparation H or Tampax?
    What about arenas?

  14. zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 5:15 pm

Chacin needs the low strike from the ump.

  15. Macdog said, on October 20, 2018 at 5:23 pm

    Yely!

  16. gianthead said, on October 20, 2018 at 5:23 pm

Been waiting for Yelich all series….

  17. djloo27 said, on October 20, 2018 at 5:24 pm

Puig kind of Reggie Sanders-ed that one…

  18. zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 5:25 pm

Wow- I thought Puig was going to catch that.

  19. zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 5:36 pm

    Paging Hader.

  20. djloo27 said, on October 20, 2018 at 5:37 pm

Dodgers really do have a lot of unlikable guys…

    • zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 5:40 pm

They’ve bought into the ’85 Bears thing. No class.
With all the talent the ’85 Bears had, winning only one title was a big underachievement.

  21. Macdog said, on October 20, 2018 at 5:38 pm

    Chacin chokin’.

  22. zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 5:43 pm

That 3-2 bunt from Machado was pretty remarkable. He’s very talented. Too bad he acts like a punk so often.

  23. alleykat69 said, on October 20, 2018 at 6:00 pm

Why would you bring a stud like Hader I’m in the 3rd? I’m sorry but that’s a win for the the fuckin Dogpile.Counsil really is an idiot in this scenario..

  24. zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 6:01 pm

    Roberts discards Pederson already.

  25. zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 6:10 pm

Ah, there’s the Yelich we’re used to this series.

  26. gianthead said, on October 20, 2018 at 6:11 pm

Strategic mistake there…they needed to see if the could have had Cain still 2nd before Yelich swung…

    • gianthead said, on October 20, 2018 at 6:11 pm

      Steal 2nd

  27. zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 6:23 pm

I thought Puig had that one, too.

  28. alleykat69 said, on October 20, 2018 at 6:24 pm

Puig is so a puss! Any decent outfielder makes that ketch ..

  29. zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 6:27 pm

    Aguilar has some terrible ABs.

  30. Flavor said, on October 20, 2018 at 6:42 pm

I’d like to sit down with some of these Brewers fans, look deep into their eyes, and try to understand the genesis of some of these homemade signs. “”Holy Kratz!” and “Hader’s #1 Fan!” are….just not good

    • zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 6:44 pm

It’s the middle of the nation. The creative people move to the coasts.

      • Flavor said, on October 20, 2018 at 6:50 pm

lol very true. Not sure why Roberts doesn’t just walk Yelich here and let BUeler pitch to Braun. That would be what I would have done

      • zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 6:51 pm

TF would have roasted me for that. Probably for good reason.

      • zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 6:51 pm

        🙂

  31. zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 6:54 pm

Dodgers finally caught one of those.

  32. Flavor said, on October 20, 2018 at 6:54 pm

    Holy Shit what a catch.

  33. unca_chuck said, on October 20, 2018 at 6:55 pm

    Damn

  34. alleykat69 said, on October 20, 2018 at 6:57 pm

Dumb signs I agree..But Hader is the real deal.Any Giant fan would love having him on this staff.Using him properly is another thing.Dont bring your best BP arm this early even those he’s been great, you save this guy till the end of the game not the beginning..

  35. unca_chuck said, on October 20, 2018 at 6:58 pm

Didn’t think Taylor had a chance.

  36. unca_chuck said, on October 20, 2018 at 7:05 pm

  39. Macdog said, on October 20, 2018 at 7:06 pm

    Jeffress flat-out sucks.

    • zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 7:06 pm

      Cost them the series.

  40. unca_chuck said, on October 20, 2018 at 7:07 pm

Maybe Joe can suck Puig off between innings.

  41. wilcojoe said, on October 20, 2018 at 7:07 pm

Fucking Puig of all people. Fuck!

  42. unca_chuck said, on October 20, 2018 at 7:08 pm

Wow. And they leave him in.

  43. gianthead said, on October 20, 2018 at 7:08 pm

Maybe just maybe they could have thought about pitching around Puig there with first open…got to give him a nod though. He reached for that pitch and destroyed it.

  44. alleykat69 said, on October 20, 2018 at 7:09 pm

On to the W/S now for the dogpile, stupid managing by Counsill..

  45. zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 7:09 pm

Wisconsin voted for Trump, screw ’em. 🙂

  46. wilcojoe said, on October 20, 2018 at 7:11 pm

Oh well. I don’t think the Dodgers stand a chance against Boston. They are the complete package and are peaking (again) at the perfect time, just like Houston did last year. I bet FOX is happy. Fuckers.

  47. Flavor said, on October 20, 2018 at 7:12 pm

It’s fine, kinda saw this coming after that catch and the Jeffress entry into the game. It’s just gonna be that much sweeter when they get their asses handed to them by Boston.

  48. zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 7:12 pm

The Brewers’ offense was actually the big let-down in this series.

  49. Flavor said, on October 20, 2018 at 7:13 pm

Rooster should get his cluckin’ in soon, it’s gonna be a looooooong dinner next week.

  50. zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 7:17 pm

Aguilar would drive me nuts with all his terrible ABs.

  51. zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 7:20 pm

What if the All-Knowing Nunie gets the winning hit of the World Series? That would be poignant.

    • Flavor said, on October 20, 2018 at 7:36 pm

Nunie’s shine has dulled a bit for me. He’s no longer all knowing. He just knows some stuff. Just a guy who knows stuff

    Jensen? Hey, there’s hope.

  54. unca_chuck said, on October 20, 2018 at 8:07 pm

Nice to see Braun lollygag that .play. Dipshit.

  55. unca_chuck said, on October 20, 2018 at 8:24 pm

It would be funny if Kershaw got hurt throwing this ninth.

  56. theroooster said, on October 20, 2018 at 9:32 pm

    A Perfect Friday Night, indeed.
Justin Turner has his wrist broken in ST. They get off to their worst start since 1976. They lose 16 of 21 games at one point early in the season. They lose Corey Seager for the year, end up in 3rd place in September.
People who don’t know baseball say that if they don’t win the WS, it’s a wasted year. That’s idiotic. If they would have lost this game 7, I would have still considered it an incredible year after all the major injuries they’ve had to overcome. They’ve already exceeded my expectations this season. For me, they’re playing with house money now.
I’m just glad I don’t have to watch them play in that ridiculous excuse for a ballpark in Houston. Orange juice Park, or whatever they call that gimmick-filled piece of crap. No stoopid fake train in the outfield, no dumbass train whistle every time the ‘stros score a run. Thank Gawd.

    • zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 10:10 pm

All the hotdog behavior makes them unlikable. They managed to make the Red Sox more likable, which ain’t easy, because the Red Sox have Chris Sale.

  57. zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 10:03 pm

    Brawl in the Lakers/Rockets game.

  58. zumiee said, on October 20, 2018 at 10:58 pm

This guy shows how to play the Beatles’ “If I Needed Someone,” a George song. The key is you put a capo on the 7th fret. Who knew?
