A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Time For The Nonsense To End

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on December 14, 2018

Last season in a cold March contest the Kings were +450 to beat the Warriors. Me and San Dawg were in the throes of March Madness but made time to target that game as a must-play. That night the Dubs started Quinn Cook, Nick Young, Draymond, Iggy and Zaza. And yet the Kings were +450? We bet both lungs and the mortgage on the Kings and then celebrated like 2 Kings after the deed was done (lots of quality Tenacious D references in that last sentence).

Tonight ain’t going down like that. We got Steph, Klay, Green, Durant, Looney and Trotter coaching ’em from the bench (Let it Ride reference, boom).

I don’t know what’s going on with Oakland (I never call them Golden State) right now and the Kings are significantly better this year than the team they trotted out to an upset win last March. And tonight Sacramento is still an underdog at +300.

Even with the game in their house, it’s time for the Warriors to get back to doing what they do: smash teams like the Kings…..

Dubs go walkabout on occasion. After this much winning, it’s hard to maintain the needed edge constantly. They’ll pay attention in the playoffs…

Kings after a third of season tied for 7th/8th spot in tough West conference with Dallas. They have better record than: SA NO Houston Blazers Utah and T Wolves, something no one would have believed before season started.
They play at a fast pace, have some guys who can shoot and are actually fun to watch if very young.

Like Snarkk said Warriors often beat themselves— dumb turnovers, poor I’m an All Star hero shot selection and inattentive D/rebounding. I think word is out that you beat GS at the rim. Each of last 2 opponents have hammered them in the paint. Vs. Min Steph went for 38 and bailed them out. Vs. Toronto no one except Durant shot well and they got blasted at home even without Leonard playing.

Very proud of my Kings. Still bitter we didn’t draft Luka Doncic, but proud of how well they have played.

As for Farhan, I’m pleased. I don’t want to see Belt and Bum traded, so I’m glad to see he is in no rush to make a big trade for the sake of making a trade.
I’m down with these pickups he has made so far and I look forward to seeing him go after some bargain free agents when the time is right.
I guess my Bryce Harper wish isn’t going to come true—and that’s ok too.

    Gerber baby gang!
    They picked up Gerber,Bergren,Fugerson??
Hey 2 Oufielders and a pitcher I think 2 of them go back to their former clubs if they don’t make the roster this spring for 100k..

The Pelicans exposed the Dubs last year how to beat them…Raptors with their size is built take the Warriors on. But of course we counter with DeMarcus!!!

I can easily see Toronto winning the East and then be overwhelmed in their first Finals appearance as a team (Kawhi is not a vocal leader and Ibaka was in the Finals years ago) and succumb to the Warriors. They will then lose Kawhi and probably lose the edge that is carrying them right now…

Everyone get the “Don’t forget time is running out to purchase your Giants 4 pack to ensure you receive your free Lou Seal snow globe by Christmas” email? Larry Baer is becoming as archaic in his marketing gimmicks as everyone else on this club.

    • Bozo said, on December 14, 2018 at 1:33 pm

I always thought they should have done a JT Snow globe back in the day. Instead of snow it would have little baseballs that would find there way to his mitt.

      • djloo27 said, on December 14, 2018 at 2:47 pm

That’s a great idea. I thought Snow was the best 1B ever on pop-ups…

      • Bozo said, on December 14, 2018 at 3:50 pm

        I thought so too.

It wasn’t long ago the Giants didn’t offer anything less than 20 game plans. Then it became 15 and then 10 and last year it was 6 packs. What’s next, buy one game get two games for free?

  8. wilcojoe said, on December 14, 2018 at 1:41 pm

I can just see it now. “Lock in your post season ticket rights by becoming a Giants season ticket holder. Plans now start at the single game level!”

“Very proud of my Kings. Still bitter we didn’t draft Luka Doncic, but proud of how well they have played.”

Last night’s Mavs/Suns game was my first real good look at Doncic. He’s very good, but I still would rather have Marvin. Marvin has such potential. He’s part of what makes the Kings fun to watch, for me. We have our two Euros, who are kind of a poor man’s Doncic.
Fox is so much fun to watch, and Hield has taken a step to a next level as a player. Cauley-Stein’s lack of rebounding prowess still annoys me at times, but his offensive skills are taking another step higher.
Jaeger has benched the stiffs on the roster. And I would like to see less time for Frank Mason. I just don’t dig what he brings to the court. Low basketball IQ, lack of height, and clanks 3-pointers.

Bags needs to play more than Bjelica. Agreed?

    • Flavor said, on December 14, 2018 at 5:28 pm

Absolutely. Fantastic defender, can hit, RIGHT FUCKING HANDED. I never understood why the jays batted him so low in the order.

Fuck Krukow. Make my dream come true…

  11. djloo27 said, on December 14, 2018 at 6:48 pm

Trades are hard to make when you have basically nothing to offer…

  12. djloo27 said, on December 14, 2018 at 7:03 pm

    We’re good at this…

  13. unca_chuck said, on December 14, 2018 at 7:59 pm

    Krukow ain’t the only one.

    • djloo27 said, on December 14, 2018 at 8:20 pm

Guess you’re happy with the status quo.
Let’s get a few more swell honkies who can’t do shit…

      • unca_chuck said, on December 14, 2018 at 8:42 pm

No, but it isn’t Puig or nothing. Puig blows.

  14. willedav said, on December 14, 2018 at 8:21 pm

Puig is in interesting position–he is arb eligible and projected to hit maybe $11 mil. Next year 2020 he becomes FA so if he were traded now he’d only be rental. Supposedly he is pissed at Roberts for platooning him and holding down his numbers

. Last year he had 125 less PAs and 95 fewer ABs than year before despite putting up impressive numbers.
He hit 23 bombs and 46 XBHs in 405 ABs, slugging pct of .494 and .820 OPS. He’s had 2 bounce back good years at the plate, despite all the other stuff.

  15. djloo27 said, on December 14, 2018 at 8:29 pm

This team has the edge of a fuckin’ marshmallow…

  16. zumiee said, on December 14, 2018 at 8:35 pm

You can’t beat the Warriors by running with them, but I do get the point that the Kings are committed to being a running team.

  17. Flavor said, on December 14, 2018 at 8:35 pm

Honky’s aren’t the problem. They’re just the situation. Our reality. I’ve given up completely on the next 2 seasons in terms of finishing above .500. But season 3? Who knows, let’s see what Zaidi does. We were going nowhere with Booby and Sabean. What do any of us have to lose by seeing what the new guy can do?

    • zumiee said, on December 14, 2018 at 8:42 pm

      Maybe he knows these….

      • Flavor said, on December 14, 2018 at 8:56 pm

this is your worst ever and I’m ok with telling you that because it’s important to be honest with each other and you can’t get better without honesty….

    • zumiee said, on December 14, 2018 at 9:03 pm

      🙂

  18. unca_chuck said, on December 14, 2018 at 8:46 pm

This is the most I’ve seen of Fox. He’s on fire tonight.

    • Flavor said, on December 14, 2018 at 8:54 pm

Fox is great, he’s going to be a star. My 7th favorite basketball player of all time is Jason Williams (white chocolate, mama). I’m down with the Kings.

      • unca_chuck said, on December 14, 2018 at 9:00 pm

He’s quick as shit through a goose,

      • Flavor said, on December 14, 2018 at 9:01 pm

        Bernard King
        Steph
        Mully
        Purvis
        Mitch
        Timmy
        White Chocolate……
I know it was stupid to start with but that really isn’t too far off my top 7 if you just consider my all time fav Warriors and then some other dude…..Draymond would be 7 if you put a gun to my head…..

  19. unca_chuck said, on December 14, 2018 at 9:00 pm

These refs are horrible. 5 offensive fouls in 6 minutes. Jerebko lifts his arms with the ball and call an offensive foul.

  20. zumiee said, on December 14, 2018 at 9:29 pm

Tough learning experience for the Kings. The games are 48 minutes.

  21. Irish Kevin said, on December 14, 2018 at 9:49 pm

That was a game, learning experience for the Kings, every young team has heard it, but you have to play all 48 mins! And with the Warriors being the vet team they are 3 mins left was justo much time, even being down by 10. Great game

  22. xoot said, on December 14, 2018 at 10:19 pm

Last year, Fox improved steadily at KY. Early on the team didn’t seem to have a competent guard. By the end of the season, young Fox was terrific (and Monk was close behind). Fox is ten times better now. The red shoes suit him.

  23. unca_chuck said, on December 15, 2018 at 8:28 am

No World B Free? I’d have Thurmond and Attles on that list. They were insane defenders. And you have to dig player/coaches. He nad Bill Russell top that list.
