Sunday!

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on December 23, 2018

Gotta say, I’m pretty impressed with the A’s for going out and getting Profar. Ditching Lowrie the season after he becomes an all star is the right play. He’s 34 with a big time injury history. Get rid of him. Sabean would have signed him to a 5 year deal.

I’m ready for Zaidi to start doing something like the A’s are doing.

Also, why doesn’t this headline at mlbtraderumors.com say “Giants” instead of “Dodgers”?

    Year away Flav…Arenado!!!

    • Flavor said, on December 23, 2018 at 9:11 am

      I don’t want Arenado.

      • djloo27 said, on December 23, 2018 at 9:14 am

        You don’t have to worry.
        Longoria’s financially entrenched…

  2. djloo27 said, on December 23, 2018 at 9:02 am

That headline supports the Stanton mutterings, I guess. A very low number of Yankee fans I know we’re enthused about acquiring him…

  3. djloo27 said, on December 23, 2018 at 9:12 am

The swapping of bad contracts rarely happens, but can anyone think of an aging, under-performing outfielder with a contract similar to Longoria’s who still has $72.5 million guaranteed?

    • pawliekokonuts said, on December 23, 2018 at 9:48 am

      Bobby Bonilla?

  4. djloo27 said, on December 23, 2018 at 9:48 am

The Angels have to replace their late 3B, Luis Valbuena. Longoria’s got excellent career numbers in Anaheim.
They have 5 more years of Justin Upton for $90 million & 3 more of Pujols at $87 million. Both have full no trades but I’m ignoring that for the moment. Any creative ideas on this?

Important note: I just read the fine print of Longoria’s contract and if I understand it, the Angels are paying $11 million of the remaining $72.5 million. I’m working very hard here…

    • pawliekokonuts said, on December 23, 2018 at 9:56 am

      you mean the Rays, right?

      • djloo27 said, on December 23, 2018 at 10:01 am

        Yes, Pawlie.
        Good catch…

  5. pawliekokonuts said, on December 23, 2018 at 9:55 am

As I said yesterday with a similar analogy: All these TransactionAir planes are either taxiing, taking off, soaring, or landing. Our rusty turboprop is in the hangar, where the so-called maintenance crew is smoking weed, playing video games, and drinking Mountain Dew. C’mon, Farhanzie! Use your 1993 Blackberry! And your Mount Blanc signing pen.

    • djloo27 said, on December 23, 2018 at 10:02 am

      You mean Mont Blanc, right?

      • pawliekokonuts said, on December 23, 2018 at 10:41 am

good catch to you! Editing Ping-Pong! (Ping-Pong was trademarked by Parker Brothers in the US in the 1920s; not sure how the AP Style guide treats it and if the tm has held up)

      • pawliekokonuts said, on December 23, 2018 at 10:42 am

a Mont Blanc fountain pen is wasted on me by my lefthandedness and smearingness

  6. djloo27 said, on December 23, 2018 at 9:59 am

Longoria, Smarj & Mac to the Angels for Upton.
Belt to the Yankees for Gray, Hicks and Bird.
Sign Machado. Get your playoff tickets!

I got a Christmas card from TedSpe. He sends me one every year.

It’s insulting that he must believe he has better things to do than post here…
      (Question mark?)

Gonna be interesting to see the treatment Zaidi gets on here as time goes bye. Seems like the honeymoon is already hitting a few rough patches for some of you. For so long, everything wrong with the team was blamed on Sabean and Evans, who were portrayed as a couple of buffoons who were lucky to find their way to the ballpark each day, let alone run a modern MLB team..
If we could just bring in a hip new GM, we’d get this turn-around kicked into high gear.,
I’m pulling for the guy, but I don’t think he’s got any silver bullets on him.

Meet the New Boss, stuck with the same brutal circumstances as the Old Boss.

    • Flavor said, on December 23, 2018 at 11:16 am

Zaidi has a long rope with me. I’m mostly just fucking around when I question his lack of work up to this point in the Winter. Long, long time remaining. And remember, those buffoons you speak of are largely responsible for hamstringing the big, pulsating brain of Zaidi’s. He’ll figure it out, though

  9. Flavor said, on December 23, 2018 at 11:15 am

Loo—- it’s not 72 mil left but Ellsbury has got 42 left + a 5 mil team buyout left. Maybe he’s the target you seek?

    • djloo27 said, on December 23, 2018 at 1:19 pm

I’ve proposed some nutty deals where we take Ellsbury back for Smarj, etc.
But the Yanks have zero use for Longoria…

      • Flavor said, on December 23, 2018 at 1:36 pm

HOw about Belt and Longo for Ellsbury and Andujar? that’s probably too much $$$ going to NY for them to be interested

      • djloo27 said, on December 23, 2018 at 1:44 pm

        Just can’t see it, Flavor.
Many things are probably on hold until Machado & Harper find new homes…

A few weeks back when I walked into the house the older snarkkette was working in the kitchen, and had taken the effort to put onto my 45-year old Marantz turntable the Doors eponymous first album to help the work along. I asked why she was playing the Doors. She just said “I like them”. Asked what her favorite song of theirs was, she quickly replied “Peace Frog”, which is on their Morrison Hotel album (I have their original studio albums on vinyl, except Soft Parade, which was weird). Peace Frog is one of their lesser tracks, but nonetheless, for Doors fans like me, well known with a good, fast beat and some tasty guitar by Krieger. Used to, years ago, get some radio air time on the oldies stations, but not now. Somewhat unusual style in the Doors mostly blues-like compendium, but with the usual dark lyrics by Morrison, including some allusion to the ’68 riots at the Dem national convention in Chicago. But, Peace Frog — that’s deep Doors for a 19 year old now. Wow, I thought in these days of Ed Sheeran, 21 Pilots, even Maroon 5 and the rest, I must have done something right raising this one…

Come on come on now touch me babe, can’t you see that I am not afraid, what was that promise that you made?, Why won’t you tell me what he said, what was that promise that you made?

Give a groupie a choice: overnight with a 24 year old Ed Sheeran or a 24 year old Mr. Mojo Risin’?
        Wonder who she’d pick?…

Track: “Cars Hiss By My Window”
    Album: LA Woman

    “A cold girl’ll kill you
    In a darkened room” …

Love The Doors and Peace Frog is fantastic. I visited morrison’s grave site back in ’88. Powerful moment for me back then.

Kings win in an exciting finish vs. the Pelicans.

    • zumiee said, on December 23, 2018 at 5:45 pm

If the playoffs started today, the Kings are the 7th seed. Can they maintain that? Hard to say.

      • Flavor said, on December 23, 2018 at 6:00 pm

Kings would probably do nothing in the playoffs. They need to get the experience of a nice, easy forst round knockout and then pick it up from there going forward. They have some good players who need playoff experience

      • zumiee said, on December 23, 2018 at 6:33 pm

Yeah, there’s some hard learning still ahead for them. But it’s nice to see excitement back in the Kings’ fanbase. An entertaining team in the new arena.

      • djloo27 said, on December 23, 2018 at 9:51 pm

        They don’t…

  16. zumiee said, on December 23, 2018 at 7:32 pm

That guy on our TV screens, that long national nightmare continues. And, of course, I’m talking about Chris Collinsworth.

    • zumiee said, on December 23, 2018 at 7:40 pm

Oh I forgot, his name is spelled Cris. That’s annoying, too.

      • Flavor said, on December 23, 2018 at 8:09 pm

he was part of the losing Bengals in ’81, my first foray into championship feeling. I have a soft spot for him.

      • zumiee said, on December 23, 2018 at 8:22 pm

Yeah, his career was ’81-’88. Montana got him twice.

  17. alleykat69 said, on December 23, 2018 at 9:02 pm

Collinsworth doesn’t bug me to much, yeah he gets a over-excited boner from time to time, but as a play by play guy their are alot worse.
And he still gives the 49ers praise even if begrudgingly about their SB wins and how that guy wearing #16 was just to much to overcome especially with little time on the clock, everyone knew it was over, he was just that great..,

    • djloo27 said, on December 23, 2018 at 9:52 pm

      Was he, really?

      • Flavor said, on December 24, 2018 at 5:17 am

he was. Nobody greater, including that pretty boy Uggs wearing fuck in New England. He was just able to do it longer than Joe. But Joe was greater in the moment.

  18. gianthead said, on December 23, 2018 at 9:26 pm

No to Arenado? Premier and maybe best defensive third-basemen and who can smash from the right-side??? How can anyone not want him?

    • djloo27 said, on December 23, 2018 at 9:51 pm

      Flavor doesn’t want ex-Rockies…

      • Flavor said, on December 24, 2018 at 5:18 am

he does not want them, that is correct.

    • djloo27 said, on December 23, 2018 at 10:01 pm

No 3b is a consideration until Longoria is dispatched.
That’s just the way it is…

  19. djloo27 said, on December 23, 2018 at 10:27 pm

Chiefs shoulda signed that fat fuck run stopper, Snacks. They’ll lock up number 1 seed against the fuckin’ Raiders next week. Probably be – $750 on the money line.
    Sleep tight you little babies…

They say Live at Leeds was great.
    I dunno.
This hour of The Who is hard to beat.
For a taste, You can start at 24:00 and go to about 30:00 for some of the best Who you’ll see. Moon is on another Planet, and the rest of the guys are friggin’ unreal, especially the Ox. The next 10 minutes are awesome, too…

  21. willedav said, on December 24, 2018 at 7:17 am

Why would someone in Vegas hassle with getting to Stadium parking tickets food drink etc if they could watch it at hotel casino bar with multi big screens of choice for free? Let alone pay for lux suite which is where Davis would make his $$$.

The Vegas Knights let’s not forget broke out winning and stayed that way. The Raiders problems on the field and in front office aren’t gonna be fixed by one draft and they are in very tough division. After all that went down this season can’t see locals from Bay Area going there more than once a year, even die hards. And there is a group of them pretty bummed over first year of Gruden era.

    • Flavor said, on December 24, 2018 at 7:31 am

WillieD–regarding your first paragraph, if that were true why would any fans in any city go to the games? Why not just go to a rad sports bar with “multi big screens”? The people I know who live in Vegas don’t hang out in casinos all day, that’s for the visitors. Native Vegas people who have jobs/money love sports and will embrace the Raiders completely. Raider fans live everywhere, by the way, not just Oakland. They travel well. The few remaining tickets available will get bought up in a nano second by people wanting to go *see a show*.
Look, this isn’t even something to kick around, they’ll either sellout every game or the place will be a ghost town. We’ll find out soon enough, right?

  22. willedav said, on December 24, 2018 at 7:26 am

I get Dodgers needed to create this vacuum in first place but in order to replace 48 HRs from RH and the .800 OPS of Puig alone, don’t they expect to pay lot more than $11 mil he’s supposed to get in arb? The return they got is couple A ball prospects that might not ever pan out, and Kemp/Bailey $$ is basically a wash.
It will be interesting to see how they fill the hole they created in OF and how Puig functions away from Roberts and his loony platoony LUs.

    • Flavor said, on December 24, 2018 at 7:34 am

don’t underestimate how badly they wanted to get rid of that primadonna locker room cancerous fuck. They probably put a lot of value just on getting rid of him…
