NFL picks
Let’s keep the *good times* rolling with some NFL winners.
I’ll take the Chiefs to smash the Raiders—14 is a lot to give but Oakland had their super bowl last week in the Coliseum finale so I expect a huge let down game for them today in the toughest stadium for a visitor in the league.
NE -13.5. Repeat after me, “The Patriots win and cover at home. The Patriots win and cover at home…”
Tampa Bay +2. This is the type of meaningless game they usually win outright….
Buffalo -5. Miami in the snow? I’ll take Buffalo.
Those are my top 4 bets of the day. They might not cover but they fill up a new thread nicely….
F/G had a column on all the complications should the Murray kid decide he wants to give pro football a try.
Not sure that would be good idea but he is tough and very skilled. Bama D usually obliterates teams completely.
Them and Clemson should be fun.
Great picks. I think Mahomes is going to go off on the Raiders and absolutely torch the Silver and Black. Not as sure about the Pats game, I do think the Jets will make it tough for NE to cover.
OK, OK – “The Patriots win and cover at home. The Patriots win and cover at home…” jeez
Never a serious football fan, but a fan of the underdog, I decided to watch the movie Invincible a week before the Super Bowl last year in anticipation and hope of an upset by an Eagles team behind a backup Foles.
Today I hope to a Vikings loss and Foles striking gold again…It doesn’t get any better than that for a playoff berth and the love for an underdog.
Great Xmas card, Dawg. Great to see the gang.
If Foles gets the Iggles to the playoffs again, you have to wonder if they think about dealing Wentz. He hasn’t exactly scorched the earth with his play.
Ahh, oh well. The good news is if all the suck teams llse, we stay at #2. We could fall to the 5th spot with a win, but that is unlikely, as much as I’d like to see us force LA to play next week.
The high flying Rams look like another one-and-done playoff team recently. A good defense can stop themn in their tracks.
If the Niners win today, they are insane…
Seems like Eagles and Vikings at -6s are mortal locks…
The line is moving toward the Colts…think -5 now….
There’s no way the Colts lose to the Titans!
#1 and only reason needed their starting QB Blaine Gabbert yikes!
Dallas Giants game is whack. Ain’t quite over yet either.
Is now 36-35 Dallas.
Wow.
Crazy game.
wow Chiefs score in 2 minutes. Dunno how far they can go but they are sure fun to watch.
So are the Raiders…
I think Twin passed away a year ago today…
50 TDs/5,000 yards for Mahomes.
Won’t mean shit if they don’t get to the SB.
And if they get there, they better fuckin’ win…
And….just stick a fork in the Niners and Raiders.
Kinda like Jets & Giants here, I guess…
If the Chiefs eliminate the Patriots, they will forever have my gratitude.
3 Ws and a push, good job, Flav.
Locals going out crappin in their jocks in their final games..Chiefs 35-3…Rams 48-17 and still the massacre continues..
Looks like I’m going to get my wish….Foles and Eagles are flying high….
The Vikings shitting the bed when they need a win to lock in a playoff spot is coach-firing ineptitude…one 3rd down completed in this game…pathetic.
2 congratulations in order..
1) George Kittle just set The all time receiving record in a season with a TD to boot!!
2) The 49ers kept Aaron Donald from breaking Michael Strahan record in qb sacks.,
Strahan’s bogus record, haha.
Yeah, Favre botched that whole episode. Just a colossal FUBAR.
Kittle had a monster year. THe rest of the o was 4th stringers.
Everybody all aboard the Chiefs bandwagon because the Niners suck and we’re only two weeks away from another one and done loss at Arrowhead. But Mahomes is a God!!
A fluke of the schedule, and the Kings have a quick rematch vs. the Lakers, in L.A. It’s hard to have a good feeling about this game.
No LeBron again tonight.
There is an original Netflix series made in Germany called “Babylon Berlin”. 16 episodes.
If you can handle subtitles, check it out.
Really really good, gets better and better as it goes along. An early Depression (1929) scene set in a dark, dangerous, nasty and exciting on-the-edge Berlin. Crime/murder/whodunit potboiler with dirty cops, Cabaret style scenes, Russian commies, early Nazis, hookers, crazy plot twists from nowhere, organized crime, great old cars, everybody smokes, a squeaky clean protagonist cop who is a WWI vet and morphine addict, and even a Bryan Ferry in-concert sighting. TV epic on par or better than most US produced shows. Yeah, and a little Euronoodity for good measure thrown in.
Stick with it through the first two set-up episodes…
That’s an interesting era and setting for a TV series. Philip Kerr has a series of detective novels set in that era. I read a couple of them and thought they were interesting.
Sounds like a good one to check out.
Actually, you can turn English dubbing on, if you want, in Netflix.
I think it loses something in English with voice actors dubbing the German voices.
But, I can understand a lot of it in German, so I’m a bit biased…
Yeah, not a fan of dubbing.
I loved it all. binge-watched it.
Ja, it’s addictive.
Characters well drawn; visuals are stunning for TV…
Luddite that I am, I am still amazed and baffled by today’s technology. 2 days ago I was online looking to book a hotel in Vung Tau (coastal town in the south). Today I log on to the Flap and at the end of Craig’s thread, there are 2 ads for hotels in Vung Tau. I know there’s a simple explanation, but it still amazes me. It’s the little things, I guess…
It’s the age-old paradox: are the Kings and Lakers playing really great offense or really bad defense?
3 on 2 fast break, three point shot. 2 on 1 fast break, three point shot. Today’s NBA.
Did the shots go in?
No.
Kings fizzling away a highly winnable game. Cauley-Stein can’t get a big rebound, as usual. The tissue-paper player.
That’s a bitter loss. Oh well.
The Kings were 1-10 on 3 point shots in the 4th quarter. Today’s NBA can be maddening sometimes.
Watched a great special on MLB NETWORK about the miracle 1967 Bosox. One thing they left out is that the Red Sox gave away Earl Wilson to the Tigers the year before for garbage. In addition to being the best hitting pitcher l ever saw he went on to lead the AL with 22 wins in 1967 and they wouldn’t have had to pitch a spent Lonborg on 2 days rest in game 7 of the WS. Maybe…
Agree, they might have had a chance against the Cards if they’d kept Wilson.
While most people are celebrating the new year, I’ll be dwelling on this…
New Years celebrations are vastly over-rated. Pretty silly, really.
And speaking of good-hitting pitchers, if I was a GM, I would only draft good-hitting pitchers. Athletes, as it were. In college, pitchers seem like athletes, they hit; I’m going to dwell on why that stops when they reach the majors. Wimps. Get up there and help your team. Ha.
lulz..
Loo, quick quiz: Who is now the longest-tenured coach among NYC teams (counting Giants/Jets but not Devils)?
The Nets coach, whose name I don’t know?
Correct! Kenny Atkinson.
Doing a helluva job, Mac…
He has his head-scratching moments like pretty much all coaches, but I can’t complain.
Yeah, I gave up the big new years celebrations years ago. In Saigon, it’s just insane, you can’t go anywhere around city center for days. Fun to do it once and then never again. Not sure how crazy it is up here in Hanoi, maybe I’ll find out tonight. From the warm confines of my house. Some years, I’m not sure what’s worth celebrating more, the fact that the old year is done or that a new one is coming. It’s a mixed bag.
