SB12

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on February 3, 2019

“Smash Brady” sounds better than “Super Bowl” right? I’m writing SB12 on my shoes before the game today…..

I entered 35 teams at draftkings and then just quietly closed my laptop. Enough.

The good news is that I have a lot of Pats on those teams, some even including Brady so I will be able to watch this game and root for players, not a particular team. Hopefully it’s gonna be a “someone scores, I win” kind of day….

And for 2 teams I don’t like very much, that’ll have to do…..

The only question I have that will remain unanswered: which player(s) got caught up in the Hotlanta lifestyle, blew off curfew and are gonna ass-out today? It’s gotta be more than you can count on one hand, right?

yahoo reporting big confrontation in Laker locker room last night after game with GS. Walton supposedly preaching sharing the ball, vet guys Beasley JaVale and Stephenson weren’t having any of it. what a mess and Magic brought it all on himself.

    • Flavor said, on February 3, 2019 at 11:01 am

i mean, what did he expect bringing Lance and Beasley aboard? I like Javale but really he’s got no business talking shit to Walton, he should shut the fuck up and be thankful he’s got this opportunity. Luckily the Lakers can get rid of those guys and not really miss a beat.

      • willedav said, on February 3, 2019 at 11:14 am

yeah. Stephenson took 8 3s in 24 minutes, hit 2 and had (co) team high of 4 turnovers. JaVale only got 11 minutes and supposedly all 3 were pissed they didn’t play more.
Plus you gotta believe no one got added in first place without LB’s blessing. Chron also reports long convo post game btw Walton and Kerr and assistants Mike Brown and Fraser, and Walton left the gym with GS assistant R Adams. Maybe this stuff bothers LA guys too.

Fun Rams fact: To my knowledge, Rams are one of two teams, any sport, to win three championships while playing in three different home cities

    • djloo27 said, on February 3, 2019 at 2:41 pm

My guess would be Braves, but I didn’t look up if they ever won in Boston…

      • Macdog said, on February 3, 2019 at 3:29 pm

You got it, won WS in 1914.

Super Bowl. Atlanta. Hey, any Ray Lewis sightings yet?

    • alleykat69 said, on February 3, 2019 at 11:40 am

Yeah Lewis will take a stab🔪at showing up I assume..

      Big Daddy vs. Jared’s daddy!

      • Flavor said, on February 3, 2019 at 1:25 pm

just from looking at this and not checking Jared’s height and weight, his dad looks bigger than him.

      • willedav said, on February 3, 2019 at 1:48 pm

might be Kevin Bass out of East Menlo in RF, 1990 was J Goff’s first ML season. Big Daddy was 41 then.

  5. snarkk said, on February 3, 2019 at 1:41 pm

I was in Atlanta once, for a few days.
Summertime, hotterNhell, and dripping humidity. Brutal.
Endless traffic like LA, without the upside of LA lifestyle (whatever that is, but it’s better than Atlanta).
Not even close to an ocean.
You couldn’t pay me enough to live in Atlanta…

    • alleykat69 said, on February 3, 2019 at 2:07 pm

Yeah Atlanta is a cesspool of humidity and no night life!! Atleast in LA can escape to the ocean 🌊 during their usual smog in summers, not like Atlanta…

      • Flavor said, on February 3, 2019 at 2:24 pm

no night life? Some of the best strip clubs in the world are in Hotlanta.

      • snarkk said, on February 3, 2019 at 2:26 pm

I was in the Buckhead area in N Atlanta one night.
That’s supposedly one of the more upscale, happenin’ areas.
        Lotsa bars and decent restaurants.
In the middle of a high-rise office area like Century City in LA or Galleria in Houston.
Eh, ok — but, they’re still in Atlanta…

    • gianthead said, on February 3, 2019 at 3:15 pm

As I said the first time in Atlanta in August 1993…the LA of the South. We had hot wings in a black part of town and no indoor seating and was not only the hottest wings in my life but combine that with a humid as hell August night and I was pouring sweat…

wow Cal men’s b-ball up 1 at half. They haven’t won a conference game in a year.

    • snarkk said, on February 3, 2019 at 2:23 pm

Cal seems unable to manage, at the same time, the two main men’s athletic programs into an upswing mode. Cuonzo just up and bolted for Mizzu, and $3 million a year. That left Cal hanging. Coaches can do that, athletes can’t, they have to sit out a year.
Basically, Cal basketball is nowhere for the foreseeable future.
I doubt kids with any kind of near-pro talent have Cal on the radar under this current coaching regime…

      • willedav said, on February 3, 2019 at 2:36 pm

well opportunity is there. I think Cal’s problem is more on Cuonzo that Jones. he has some decent guys just very young.
What’s weird to me is the women’s team. They have the Anigwe gal who can get 20/20 and is one of best posts in entire country. Yet the coach in 3 years can’t find perimeter shooters and ball handlers to put around her. And nobody says anything. They beat Stanford at home by a point and lost to them on road by 25; they’ve 5-5 in league. The Ionescu kid from oregon who is league MVP played HS ball at Miramonte in Orinda, Cal’s backyard. Meanwhile Stanford has best senior in country from Mitty of San Jose coming in plus kid from top rated Pinewood.

      • snarkk said, on February 3, 2019 at 3:12 pm

As for women’s team, I’ve got no clue other than Gottlieb has done pretty well overall since she’s been there. I’ve seen two women’s games at Haas over the last decade, both v. Stanfoo. 1-1.
Good games, I enjoyed seeing them.
But though I’ve got daughters, they don’t do traditional “sports”, so I pay basically little attention to women’s sports…

      That about covers it Loo!!
Dee Ford said I gotta be better then this.
No shit dipshit, lining up off sides only cost you the SB! How the fuck can you not just line up behind the football dumbshit totally inexcusable..

    • Bozo said, on February 3, 2019 at 3:38 pm

      I love you, man.

  9. gianthead said, on February 3, 2019 at 3:08 pm

If your last point on Hotlanta rings true then the Rams will be the ones in trouble being their first bowl and I bet a lot of their defensive players probably like to enjoy the good life (read Atlanta strip joints)…Pats knowing this could be a historic win or loss will be focused. I would have probably bet on the Pats but go Rams…

  10. snarkk said, on February 3, 2019 at 3:16 pm

  11. snarkk said, on February 3, 2019 at 3:21 pm

All you bettors out there –
What’s to stop Gladys Knight from being in cahoots with a bunch of people on the prop bet on her over/under time to sing the Anthem? She tips them on how long it will take (rehearsals, she knows), and they or people working for them put bets down on the right side of the bet? Or, dudes working with her in rehearsals know? Seems EZ money to me…

    • djloo27 said, on February 3, 2019 at 3:27 pm

There is no fuckin’ doubt about that, Snarkk.
      It’s like insider trading…

    • Macdog said, on February 3, 2019 at 3:35 pm

    • snarkk said, on February 3, 2019 at 3:53 pm

Tru dat. But, by end today, he played in 5 fewer than Brady… 😉

  17. Flavor said, on February 3, 2019 at 4:00 pm

I’ve never bet on those dumb prop bets but I’m assuming books cap what they’ll accept on a bet like the song length. You can’t o in there and drop 500k on that shit.

    • snarkk said, on February 3, 2019 at 4:11 pm

So, I guess just get the Pips to put down a ton of small bets to the max allowed at various sports books….

  18. alleykat69 said, on February 3, 2019 at 4:31 pm

Rams offense sucks, you have to wonder if Gurley is healthy I say no way.

  19. willedav said, on February 3, 2019 at 4:42 pm

Rams don’t look ready for prime time.

  20. willedav said, on February 3, 2019 at 4:53 pm

I’ll give them credit though they do seem to have Brady rattled,

  21. gianthead said, on February 3, 2019 at 4:57 pm

That 4rh down play was quite surprising…they dont expect their kicker to hit a 50 yarder? Course Rams offense maybe hit the strip joints hard this week???

    • unca_chuck said, on February 3, 2019 at 5:01 pm

He already missed one Freon inside where they were.

      • gianthead said, on February 3, 2019 at 5:03 pm

    Maroon 5
    Patriots 3
    Rams 0

  25. Flavor said, on February 3, 2019 at 5:15 pm

  26. Flavor said, on February 3, 2019 at 5:16 pm

  29. alleykat69 said, on February 3, 2019 at 5:41 pm

Local kid Edelman is easily the MVP if this game stays like this..

    • zumiee said, on February 3, 2019 at 5:46 pm

Rams can’t figure out how to defend against him.

  30. willedav said, on February 3, 2019 at 5:45 pm

The guy that covered the punt is Jackie Slater’s kid? Big dude O tackle for Rams, from…Jackson State! home of Purvis Short (among others).
True story I have Jackson St. hat on right now

  31. willedav said, on February 3, 2019 at 5:48 pm

Man Goff almost took a safety. when it comes to QBs getting smashed, it’s Goff today.

  32. djloo27 said, on February 3, 2019 at 5:56 pm

    • willedav said, on February 3, 2019 at 6:17 pm

Yes. One of the punters could wind up MVP.

      • snarkk said, on February 3, 2019 at 6:20 pm

Criminy. This could be one of the worst SBs ever, even if it comes down to the last minute…

  39. unca_chuck said, on February 3, 2019 at 6:47 pm

The rams ran on 1st down on their first 9 drives. They punted in their first 9 drives. Their play calling has not been very imaginative.

  40. blade3colorado said, on February 3, 2019 at 6:47 pm

Okay, I’ll finally admit it . . . Tom is the best among the Brady Bunch.

  45. willedav said, on February 3, 2019 at 7:00 pm

70 yrd drive. Rams couldn’t stop them.

  46. snarkk said, on February 3, 2019 at 7:03 pm

Pats win, but did Brady do much to win this one?
I dunno, I just heard it on radio.
Seems like it was pretty much a defensive duel, neither offense did shit…

    • willedav said, on February 3, 2019 at 7:05 pm

nah he didn’t Snarkk. Just one drive…which unfortunately was enough.

  47. willedav said, on February 3, 2019 at 7:04 pm

Now, about the Giants starting rotation…..

    • zumiee said, on February 3, 2019 at 7:27 pm

      Bumgarner and the 4 fives.

    • willedav said, on February 3, 2019 at 7:31 pm

I’m telling you, I like it. I think goal of Z was to make rotation in mold of LA, with multiple guys capable of making a decent start and using 10 day DL to shuttle guys/on off. He said he wanted to limit the innings of D Rod and Suarez, good idea for young arms who haven’t thrown a lot of innings in their careers yet.
Maybe the S Anderson kid has a shot too.

  53. zumiee said, on February 3, 2019 at 7:28 pm

On the plus side, the Rams lost.

  54. willedav said, on February 3, 2019 at 7:38 pm

Look at it this way–Dodgers lost almost 100 bombs off last year from RH bats no longer with them. Yes they added Pollock but he has had significant health issues. Likelihood Muncy hits 35 bombs again slim and none.
AZ no longer has Golds at 1b, or Pollock.
Pads are very young team that haven’t yet added any bats, Rox neither.

Division will be weaker offensively and young Giants pitchers DRod Suarez Moronta will have year of experience behind them.

  55. snarkk said, on February 3, 2019 at 7:39 pm

I’m definitely hoping now for a Dubs/Celts NBA finals, with a monumental beat down administered by the Dubs…

  56. PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on February 3, 2019 at 7:52 pm

Maybe they’ll still add a front line starting pitcher, and maybe not and the current crew will be *serviceable*… meaning, mediocre. Problem with mediocre is, need a good offense to compensate, and the Giants have done nothing to improve offensive output. Hence, my lack of optimism for the starting rotation comes back around to even less optimism about the offense.

  57. Flavor said, on February 3, 2019 at 7:58 pm

blech, their lame fans are gonna piss and shit all over the stadium.

    • snarkk said, on February 3, 2019 at 8:16 pm

Baer will do anything to make a buck.
Preseason games will tear the crap out of the turf with a month+ to go in the Giants season.
What good is one season of Raiders at ATT/ Oracle?
      Screw the Raiders…

  60. zumiee said, on February 3, 2019 at 10:01 pm

The Dodgers will likely run away with the division this season, unless the Rockies challenge them again.
Maybe the Giants can stay somewhat in the Wild Card conversation. But more likely, Zaidi, after several months of getting a solid evaluation of the Giants’ situation, will start jettisoning some older players as the team approaches the deadline.
He will be committed to making the team younger and more athletic, and more versatile.
The goal will be to turn the Giants into a yearly contender, like the Dodgers and Cardinals. Even in the 3-in-5 stretch, the Giants weren’t yearly contenders. Zaidi is thinking big, it will just take a few years to happen.

    • zumiee said, on February 3, 2019 at 10:11 pm

The Giants trading Lucius Fox to get Longoria probably flabbergasts Zaidi.

      • Bozo said, on February 4, 2019 at 7:48 am

I thought he was part of the trade for Matt Moore.

  61. zumiee said, on February 3, 2019 at 10:21 pm

    Here’s a brutal fact:
The Giants had a record of 1-18 on the road vs. the Phils, Reds, Brewers, and Rockies.
