Sunday!

I tried to re-focus on the baseball side of the game and noticed we played the Rangers to a 0-0 tie yesterday. Hunter Pence stole a bag against his old club. The Rangers used 8 pitchers to blank us. I had heard of one of them (the starter, Minor).

D-Rod goes today…

Here at Salt River Fields. This place is is really nice. Like a more modern Raley, including upper deck. 12 outlying fields, 6 each for Rocks and Dbacks. The whole complex is huge. Outfield gorgeous as you look out into the mountains in distance. $8 each for a Polish with peppers and kraut and a 12 oz Colorado craft brew. I’d say Gero fans outnumber Rocks fans 60: 40 at least…

Belt cleanup. I’m looking for a dinger from him. He usually crushes the ball at this park…

DRod obviously struggled all inning with release point. FB was 92-93, always high and outside. Looks like he was throwing maybe a cutter at about 87-88, that was all over the place. IMO they should have one out for a mound visit 2 batters earlier. Btw, Charlie Blackmon is a big dude. I didn’t know he was that big. Our RFer took a lousy angle on that double, I think he should have had it…

Longo was on it his first AB. He might crush one this game…

Wow. Sweet sliding catch by Mac the Oaf. That liner was slicing away towards the line and he tracked it down with a nice backhand that looked from here like a snow cone. I’m in sec 206 Rocks side about even with 1st base-bag 1/2 way up the lower deck…

Adon FB ranged 98-101. Guy can bring it. Big dude, like Lee Smith or Jantzen with LA. Kind of a sling shot motion. Slider 86-90, nasty if it’s down, he was up with it a little too much. Giants need to friggin get some hits!!…

Wrong team hitting dingers. Lopez struggling. FB topping at 91, can’t get curve over consistently. They’re sitting on the FB and clobbering it…

The other inning when Belt got his single he ripped it thru 3 guys in the shift, he had 75 feet of open space on the left side of diamond. 3rd basemen was barely on the LF side of 2nd…

Ok, I’m telling myself this is only a ST game. Rocks bats are blazing all game, Giants bats are like phuckin linguini, and gluten free at that…

Most of crowd gone now, you can really hear the mitt pop. I don’t know half the guys out there. It’s gorgeous out here. One lone guy just yelled let’s go Giants, and some laughs went up. If you like baseball, and I do, This is Spring Training…

Pitch clock on all game. Most guys get in to their motion at about the 10 seconds to go mark, it starts at 20, as catcher fires ball back to

The team has done nothing to energize their fan base.
Maybe Shaw or MTO will be the guy.
    Somebody better be…

I don’t know Baer’s been one of their better hitters lately..

Great to hear an-person account, Tom, nicely done. A day or two ago, I said something like without an additional frontline starter and a couple of new top-notch hitters, we’d be looking at the wrong end of a lot of 8-3 scores. Eek, look at this one, 9-3. I know. It’s early. ….

    A gluten-free offense, I kinda like that description…

      Mac the Oaf.

    • PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on March 3, 2019 at 9:07 pm

Got it. Poor guy, he seems to have a lot of nicknames. Hopefully “Slugger” will be one of them going forward.

    • PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on March 3, 2019 at 9:08 pm

Hanson still seems to be a prime candidate for “energy”…

  25. zumiee said, on March 3, 2019 at 9:42 pm

Here’s a stat that doesn’t seem possible: only about 1100 players in the history of Major League Baseball had a career of 10 years or longer.
