Matt Joyce Sucks

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on March 21, 2019

Matt Joyce is the latest joke Zaidi is playing on us. I think Bozo is right, this dude was sent by the Dodgers to infiltrate our organization and bring it down. Prolly had something to do with setting off that kerfuffle between Larry and his screaming wife, too. 🙂

Still time to get in on the Madness. Up to 14 players competing for a new desk top computer! Lol, no that was Twin’s baby. Man, he used to run the show with giveaways. Good times.

We are playing for bragging rights as well glory and destiny……

I hope Zdodgerdog proves me wrong and he becomes the Zman everyone wants.

On the plus side for Matt Joyce, last year he had a 0.1 WAR (hey better than 0.0) and he is projected to get 67 Walks…

    • Flavor said, on March 21, 2019 at 7:18 am

doubt he gets 0.67 walks. If this dude is anywhere near the big league club when they head to SF i’ll be pissed.

      • Bozo said, on March 21, 2019 at 10:27 am

Yeah, I should have added a smiley face or something after that.

Watch this team come out like 2016 whem we had band-aid players in the field and pretty decent pitching and was in first place at the all-star break…

I highly doubt it but the starters get into the 6th woth most of these guys, the bullpen sans Melongballscon look potentially above average and can shit things down…maybe just maybe they are only losing games by 1-2 runs and at least competitive.

But then watch Farhan trade the lefties in the pen and not dump Melongballscon…

How difficult is it to cut and paste a pic on a blog???? Anyway…All Hail Lord Farhan Farquaad!!!

Heard Flem call on radio highlights this morning for Seattle/A’s game. Yes Hundley is part of their platoon at C, ugh. Guys who posted on Daniel’s blog were pretty sanguine about A’s upcoming season, acknowledging problems at C and rotation and unlikelihood they win as often as last season. Reality is if they can’t beat out Stros for first place, they’ll get either BoSox or Yanks in the WC. Not good.

Ichiro plays 2 games there, to make 28 seasons combined and retires. quite a feat to come right from J league and hit .350 for M’s in his first season, along with excellent D and speed. iirc only guy to play season opener older than him was Julio Franco.

    • zumiee said, on March 21, 2019 at 7:53 am

The A’s will miss Lowrie a lot. He was a tough out last season.

      • willedav said, on March 21, 2019 at 8:27 am

and the replacement guy Profar made errant throw that pulled 1b off bag to allow go ahead run in 12th while A’s were trying to turn inning ending DP with bases loaded 1 out.

  4. zumiee said, on March 21, 2019 at 7:49 am

Zaidi is sabotaging his own career to help another team he is no longer affiliated with?
The Flap has its conspiracy theory now. 🙂

  5. zumiee said, on March 21, 2019 at 7:58 am

For a Spring Training game, that was rather entertaining last night. A 13-0 victory with lots of solid contact from the Giants batters. Panik and Belt in particular looked real good. Can they avoid wacky injuries this season?

  6. wilcojoe said, on March 21, 2019 at 9:20 am

Wow, Flav and Loo picking Houston to cut down the nets?

    • Flavor said, on March 21, 2019 at 9:44 am

Ha, really? Loo and I are clearly in lockstep on this. My angle is this: Duke is too obvious of a pick. Virginia just doesn’t do it for me offensively. Gonzaga just lost to St. Freaking Mary’s. And Houston is in the toughest bracket so if they get to the Final 4 they will roll. I say, Phi Slama Jama will rise again…..

this is from 4 years ago. It was bullshit then, too.

      • unca_chuck said, on March 21, 2019 at 9:58 am

Ahhh, just popped up on FB. Didn’t check the date. Ooops.

    • willedav said, on March 21, 2019 at 9:50 am

“…he did not do anything unethical…” but both sites are now banning what he did, playing on another site while employees have access to who is playing who on their site, from now on.

      • Flavor said, on March 21, 2019 at 10:16 am

it wasn’t much of an advantage at all. Anyone that knows how to play can accurately predict ownership. This was a nothing burger and they banned it because it was the PC thing to do. People that don’t know anything about daily fantasy sports thought this was a big deal. It wasn’t

in addition to the 430 mil. Starting to get excessive.

    • unca_chuck said, on March 21, 2019 at 10:01 am

Plus a helicopter ride, and blow job, for every home game.

  9. snarkk said, on March 21, 2019 at 9:51 am

Panik is hot in ST, but he generally looks good in ST, like Belt.
When the real season rolls around, let’s see. First thing is if these guys can stay healthy for any length of time.
With all these arms available, if MelanBust is on the 25 on Opening Day, we’ll know ZMan isn’t totally in charge. I predict a punt re: him — he’ll start the season on the DL with claimed shoulder soreness or something — and he’ll enter a Zito-esque twilight zone of injury and rehab out of the limelight. Maybe he can join Baer wherever he is hiding out…

  10. unca_chuck said, on March 21, 2019 at 10:00 am

Yeah, if everything goes perfect for the first 3 months, then they will hang around. I just fear the injury bug. as these guys are not spring chickens anymore.

    • willedav said, on March 21, 2019 at 10:17 am

Um, Steph Curry just turned 31 a week ago. No excuse for baseball players who get to sit on bench half a game not to be ready to play. Lot of guys, like Craw admitted he did last year, play or compensate for something bothering them when they shouldn’t.

    • unca_chuck said, on March 21, 2019 at 10:43 am

Right. Baseball players are akin to bowlers in their workout regimen for the most part. I’d throw golfers in the mix, but even those guys have stepped up their training.

As far as playing hurt goes, baseball is the only sport of the three that you can get away with that. If you are hurting in football or basketball you will get exposed.

  11. zumiee said, on March 21, 2019 at 10:41 am

Rough trip to Japan for the A’s.

  12. unca_chuck said, on March 21, 2019 at 10:46 am

My only question about Joyce is, is he better than Gorky off the bench? Our bench has been fucking lame lame lame these last 3-4 years.

    • zumiee said, on March 21, 2019 at 11:18 am

Unless he hits like crazy in the next week, I don’t see how Joyce makes the team. If Solarte plays mostly outfield, that creates a spot for Hanson, I think. I’m sure Bochy will push for Hanson to make the team. Hanson hit a triple right-handed last night, which helps his cause a bit.

If I remember correctly the free agent market values WAR for relievers at ~$10M per. With Melancon being a negative WAR player and Moronta and Okert combined provide nearly WAR 2x the value at the league minimum it seems like Zaidi would properly assign value in terms of dollars and justify dumping Melancon rather than losing another player that will actually contribute to the club.

  14. Macdog said, on March 21, 2019 at 1:24 pm

    Another bomb for Belt.

  15. unca_chuck said, on March 21, 2019 at 1:47 pm

If Belt stays right, he’ll have a big year. He and Longo are the bright spots in an otherwise dull lineup..

    • zumiee said, on March 21, 2019 at 2:01 pm

Panik is in a good groove, too. But will it translate to the regular season is the question.

  16. dirtnrocksnomo said, on March 21, 2019 at 2:00 pm

Samardzija rounding into form with a bomb to the first batter, 4 hits and a hits batsmen through 2 & 2/3. Loud contact and a lazer show against the Cub’s varsity lineup.

    • zumiee said, on March 21, 2019 at 2:03 pm

He needs to join Melancon on the train to somewhere else.

      • dirtnrocksnomo said, on March 21, 2019 at 2:11 pm

        2 bombs now.

  17. Bozo said, on March 21, 2019 at 3:03 pm

Duggar put together a nice Spring, hope he’s able to carry that over.

    • djloo27 said, on March 21, 2019 at 4:00 pm

I remember him having a nice swing with a large hole in it last year…

  18. unca_chuck said, on March 21, 2019 at 3:34 pm

Yes, the Mystery Injury train is getting full.

    • zumiee said, on March 21, 2019 at 3:58 pm

This time last year Pence was doing nothing to win a starting job, and still got it.

      • Macdog said, on March 21, 2019 at 4:15 pm

And now he’s made the Rangers’ opening day roster.

      • zumiee said, on March 21, 2019 at 4:31 pm

        That’s mind-boggling.

      • unca_chuck said, on March 21, 2019 at 6:16 pm

Makes me wonder wtf Pence was doing last year. Ride the deal to get out of here?

  19. James said, on March 21, 2019 at 4:56 pm

Matt Joyce has the same career OPS as Adam Jones.

  20. Macdog said, on March 21, 2019 at 6:06 pm

Baggs: Giants DFA’d Drew Ferguson. They acquired IF/OF Connor Joe from Cincinnati for minor league RHP Jordan Johnson and cash.

Connor Joe was in the Dodgers system under Farhan Zaidi. The Reds took him in the Rule 5 draft. The same Rule 5 provisions apply if the Giants want to keep him. Hard to imagine they’d give up a minor leaguer for him if they didn’t intend on carrying him.

Connor Joe hit 17 homers with a .408 OBP between AA and AAA last season. He plays first, third and outfield and hits right-handed. That was to be Pablo Sandoval’s role. If the Giants carry 13 pitchers, and Joe, it’s hard to imagine Panda making the club.

    • zumiee said, on March 21, 2019 at 6:19 pm

Sandoval hasn’t made a compelling case for himself this Spring.

  21. snarkk said, on March 21, 2019 at 6:32 pm

Get ready for a constant roster change throughout the year. Should be interesting as the bodies parade through…

  22. zumiee said, on March 21, 2019 at 8:20 pm

Both Giants’ Friday night split-squad games are going to be televised, I think. One of them is on local Nor. Cal. NBC affiliates, and the other is on the MLB Network.

  23. PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on March 21, 2019 at 8:47 pm

“Healthy Samardzija caps impressive spring” That’s the headline of an MLB story on the Giants’ site. Yet all I’ve seen here on the Flap is that he still sucks. I have no idea how *impressive* the guy’s spring was unless you’re just talking about the fact that he’s healthy. We’ll see how long that lasts….

    • zumiee said, on March 21, 2019 at 9:03 pm

Bochy has been getting him out of games pretty quickly, for various reasons. That has to happen in the regular season, too. Give him 5 1/3 or so and get him out of there, with hopefully minimal damage done.

  24. willedav said, on March 21, 2019 at 9:04 pm

Wofford white boys from 3 with amazing finish and Hall is done.

    • Macdog said, on March 21, 2019 at 9:17 pm

The Hall apparently never figured out that Wofford can shoot 3s.

  25. zumiee said, on March 21, 2019 at 9:07 pm

The Kings’ Cauley-Stein and Bogdonavich both have less than stellar basketball IQs. I don’t know how that can be fixed at this level.
