Thud!
Yesterday was pretty funny. No, not the game. That was excruciating. It was the post game show that had me ROTFLMAO.
As you all know, during the post game wrap our 4 broadcasters each give out their *player of the game* and the reason for it. When you get shutout, admittedly, finding a worthy POTG is a tough sled. When they got to the Big Kahuna, he stammered for a bit, and then nominated Conner Joe. Reason: he really liked how professional he looked in the walk that he got…..
His player of the game……walked one time.
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was absolute solid gold.
Krukow was in fine nonsensical form in the post game spinning a bunch of bullshit about how they had been hitting all spring up until the last couple of games—saw the laid egg vs Brett Anderson as a precursor to what happened opening day.
Kuip is worried the same thing is going to happen today because they’re facing another lefty….like all these problems will get magically fixed as soon as the Giants start facing right handed pitching.
I may follow Loo’s lead and refuse to watch a game this year…may listen to it but save my eyes. Purdue/TN far more interesting…
Maybe it was Joe’s 35 hopper to 2nd that thrilled him.
I actually wish they would just re-air the entire 2010 season game by game. KNBR could just run the same shows (Kruk could actually praise the offense with a straight face) and the Chronicle could insert the same stories and boxscores in the morning paper.
Hey Kuiper….Guess the Padres didnt worry about facing are lefty Ace Madison Bumgarner yesterday. That’s BS about facing lefties and expecting to lose..
They can’t come out on the first day of the season and say “WE SUCK!!!” even though they all know this season will go a lot like yesterday. As this debacle churns on, they will eventually fall into the Hank Greenwalk mode and tell stories as we mire through 5-1 losses. over and over.
agreed, ownership is trying to sell tickets, this is not the fanbase you say “hang it there” to. It’s actually kinda lame how we have changed as a fanbase. Got spoiled. It happened very quickly.
They did not want to characterize as such, but this has turned into the rebuild season or two many of us pressed for as inevitable. They don’t have the minor league assets nor friendly contract assets of vets to trade for younger, better talent. It’s got to come rebuilding the minors, mostly. The only asset worth a darn is Bum, and they need to trade him to jump start the rebuild…
People keep talking about waiting till the break to trade bum but wouldn’t an earlier in season trade to a motivated trade partner yield more?
Yeah, a trade of Bum to the Yankees just seems so obvious. Surely the Yanks would give a good prospect to get him. It’s kind of sad to see Bum pitch so well yesterday in such a futile situation.
I think the theory of trading Bum at the deadline is that a team in the hunt is desperate enough to trade talent for a rental. IMO, If you want to add minor league players now, than you trade Rodriguez. I’d imagine that would bring in some top prospects. I don’t want to see them do either, I’m just sayin’.
Belt and Panik get platooned to the bench in Game #2. Ouch.
RF Michael Reed R
1B Buster Posey R
2B Y. Solarte B
3B E. Longoria R
SS B. Crawford L
LF Connor Joe R
CF S. Duggar L
C Erik Kratz R
P D. Holland B
Why would Posey, the slowest guy on the team, bat 2nd? And, batting 2nd concedes that he has not much of a power stroke left…
Because Bochy is fried and needs to go…
Saw that. I’d be pissed if I was Belt. These guys seem resigned to their fate already.
Amazing how the Superior Dodgers have already wrapped up the division championship in March
Even more amazing is that they’ve already lost the World Series.
lulz!
Mac the Oaf DFAd? If he gets claimed by some AL club, watch him pound 27 HRs this year at .245 or some such …
Destined For Accidents…
most vulnerable #1…would not have guessed Heels first one to go out.
Giants game is on local NBC affiliates tonight. (Channel 31 in my area, the Northern Central Valley.)
Padres are sporting the dookie browns tonight.
Still wondering what’s the deal with this Kratz guy. Why not just have Garcia be backup — he can hit. Seemed year that he was at lease serviceable behind the plate…
They want Garcia to play everyday at AAA. They think he’ll progress better that way.
The Padres look legit.
Wow would be nice to have some hitters like these Padres…wow, did I just utter those words?
I dont know much about their pitching but their lineup may be the best the Padres have ever had.
Connor Joe is Asian??? Lol…had no clue…
Conner Joe throws multi-bouncers.
Dumbar.
As we have seen in the recent free agent signings and the mentality of baseball teams…these GM types think they are gods and trying to one up each other on deals and they dont make the better deal until the end and the other team/free agent is ready to walk away.
The Yanks are not going to give up the best deal until they are desperate to make the deal and think there is another suitor after Bum…Clint Frazier is the must have. Can we land Andujar as well???
Clint Frazier has concussion problems and his stock has dropped since last year.
Giants won’t trade for a 3B as long as they are paying big bucks to Longori-ugh…
Giants have had 7 baserunners so far this season. Three have made outs on the bases. Amazing how being bad and stupid go hand in hand.
Krukow wears out the Dutch Holland nickname.
Ian Kinsler a Padre??? Missed that one….
3-0…an insurmountable lead…go VaTech!!!
So far, Gigantes are disabusing the notion that this could be a decent year.
After many years playing ball, how can Duggar run from second on a grounder to short, right in front of him, and get easily thrown out at third with nobody out? On a team that can’t hit for shit. And, right after ST ends where that kind of situational shit should be drummed into your dome? Really disappointing play there. You can’t give up stoopid outs on the base paths when you’ve a team that can’t score…
Obviously this season is going to be a challenge for us as fans of the team. I’m up for the challenge. For the first time I can remember, I have abandoned the notion that being a fan means hoping the team wins. I’m not hoping for wins. I’m only hoping that each loss (of which there will be many) will be instructional for management to take this entire season to observe, learn, and make moves that will make the team more winnable next season. Also wouldn’t mind seeing at least some entertainment value in the revolving door of comings and goings that will likely be spinning all season.
Posey and Craw look pretty bad at the plate. Those guys have to do something for this 2019 team to be able to compete.
As I’m not even thinking about wins this season, I’m also not thinking about them being competitive. They won’t be. The *core* that everyone wants to rely on is just going to be another year older and no better. This season is just for the team to figure itself out.
And high draft picks next year. They need to hit on those picks.
Yup! You never know when you might come up with the next Clay Timpner or Adam Shabala…
Clay Timpner. lulz…
Goldy hit 3 HRs for the Cards tonight.
Wow, the new guy Reed is a waste of a roster spot.
The NCAA commercials with Barkley and friends are as bad as it gets.
I gotta get rid of TV altogether.
Is reading any fun?
It is!
I must’ve been sleeping through spring training. I’ve never even heard of Trevor Gott.
another missed tip in at buzzer and Duke hangs on again.
Is there a goddamn luckier team?
sweet play too to set it up perfectly.
Meanwhile Herro the hero from 3 puts Kentucky up a basket with 25 seconds left.
I’m bummed that Joe Reed does not seem to be as good as Taylor Muncy.
Double lulz…
Herro ball.
Yep. Tremendous block by Washington to trigger the fast break that set him up for the 3. Plus PJ hit the post up/and one 3 point play before it to tie the game up down 58-55.
Herro does it all, knocks down clinching FTs. UK 62 Houston 58.
Bochy is walking worse than ever…
That’s cause he’s drinking more looking at this roster for 162 games, that would throw off anyone’s equaliibrium..
Quite a streak we got going. Didn’t we lose 15-0 in last season’s finale?
Consistency is everything.
Tough April schedule. Wins will be challenging to find.
Apparently, runs too.
I really miss Mac the Oaf. How bad is that? Reed took his spot?
Mac and Hanson were the 2 players I thought would provide some “make things happen” at the plate, but they’re both gone already. Maybe they’ll be back?
Hanson really surprised me.
Reed really shined tonight, 0-3, 3 Ks, 3 LOB.
Longo.
A RUN!
A home run!
Wow. Did we really score a run?
Chicks dig the long ball
Nice homer
Nice little rally..
Ya gotta swing the bat there, Parra.
Yeah, what, 11 strikeouts tonight? I don’t see stats about it, but most of them seemed to be strike 3 looking. ….
Bull shit call Blue.
Dammit! Too little. Too late. May be a theme this year.
Parr’s and belt taking called 3rds. Ouch.
And Joe and Duggar the inning before too.
Couple of iffy strike 3 calls.
We’ve spent years watching Belt get outraged at called third strikes.
He was right not to swing at the pitch, he should have walked away saying nothing after strike 3 was called, and, most importantly, he should have clobbered the 0-2 mistake to avoid the situation in the first place.
2 strikes, you protect the plate, Foul it off.
That stupid stance Joe employs ain’t gonna cut it up here.
I’d quick pitch the fuck out of him…
the awkward way he sets up reminds me of McAuliffe (who hit LH iirc) from Tigers.
Loo if you’re gonna read something, start with “Alou” by Felipe. Great read, from his time in DR to life in minors in South Giants Braves managing Expos and in minors, yada yada.
surprising take on DH too–he actually likes it. Says it gives mgr a real player he can use to bunt or hit with and be a smart baserunner with less risk of injury.
