Somehow I got attached to a Krukow & Kuiper page (which has nothing to do with either of them) and the hilarity is too much. You are either all -in on this great team and can’t speak ill of anyone at any time or you are not a true fan (go root for the dodgers is the usual reply).

Giants at least beat Dodgers once, more than Rox could do. Rox are 0-5 at Coors Canaveral.
Funny, after LA kicked their ass Dodgers went to STL and got swept by Cards who lit up Maeda yesterday.
Even if Giants aren’t much fun to follow, baseball and box scores still good read.

I have been thinking of ways in which DK and MLB can partner together to make the game more enjoyable. Say for instance having contests only available to those in attendance where you can bet each inning. Or say the first 3 innings, innings 4-6, etc. You’re basically competing with your follow fans and you can even follow the results on the Jumbotron. Of course it will never happen, but how fun would that be?
The word “bet” is the reason it would never happen of course.
That future in-game betting in baseball is going to happen sooner or later….likely wont start in SF but will start somewhere else and all will follow..
People are going to have their noses stuck to their phones regardless, especially as my kids generation gets older. Might as well have them following baseball stats instead of Fortnite and YouTube bullshit.
So true, we have strict limits on the internet, basically nothing for the youngest and controls on the oldest, yet they’re still immersed in fortnite and youtube knowledge. It’s part of the culture at this point I guess. Also, get off my lawn!

Back in the Giants glory days (2010-2014) it was fun to wake up in the morning (after a west coast night game) not knowing the final score of the game the evening prior, and going straight to the Flap comments where I had left off the night before. I would in essence be following the recap of the game solely by reading everyone’s comments. Way more enjoyable than just seeing the previous nights box score.

Hey I saw brief you tube vid on NOJO (jazz orchestra big band) led by Adonis Rose with fabulous short 6 min clip of highlights done live of latest release Music of Allen Toussaint. They start with Workin in a Coal Mine, then Java and original with vocalist titled (I think) Simple (or Semple maybe) Street. Cool big band…familiar with these guys? Like to know more before I pick up CD, just out.
I haven’t heard them yet, Willie. They are doing a tribute to Aretha the first weekend of Fest and I thought I might check them out a bit before heading over to see Irma.
Speaking of Toussaint tributes, have you checked out Stanton Moore’s CD, “With You In Mind”? He is the drummer for Galactic and has a bunch of players on this, Shorty, Maceo Parker, Cyril Neville, Skerik, Mike Dillon, Nicholas Payton. He has Wendell Pierce speaking the lyrics for Southern Nights while Stanton plays brushes behind him before the band comes in. Some really good stuff on it.
I had a chance to chat with Toussaint a few times over the years, he was very generous with his time and he’d talk to just about anybody (even a doofus like me). Allen, Snooks Eaglin and Eddie Bo were such a big part of my time in New Orleans over the years, I really miss those three guys a lot.

I listened to the original version of Fortune Teller by Bennie Spellman, which I didn’t know came out of NO; first version I remember was Stones, who used to cover a lot of stuff in those early days.

Yeah a great town for music. The birthplace of Jazz, I’d also argue that Dave Bartholomew and Fats Domino created rock and roll there, tons of R&B, Blues and Americana players, I think even Bounce got it’s start there. Not to mention the influence of all the Cajun and Zydeco bands throughout Southern LA. Truly a gumbo of music runs through New Orleans veins. Going back down in a couple of weeks, I can’t wait.

Per Forbes, Giants are now worth $3 billion (5th in MLB). However, they lead MLB by a country mile in how much they make on each fan ($183).

As for attendance, season tickets sold for 2019 were 26 thou so you’ll never see less than that number listed per game.
But even that mean 2 mil plus guaranteed bought and paid for.
bottom line Giants can afford to do whatever is best–pay off part of salary dump contract in a trade, release under performing player(s) or add in someone more productive.
As much as I am not surprised by the Giants numbers, I am more amazed by the Miami Marlins numbers. Sheesh, if I am a Giants fan or a fan of one of the other 31 teams, I would be going to each and every game at the Marlins air conditioned dome when my team visited. Not certain about the formula analysis they used to come up with these numbers, but that looks easily like it is dirt cheap to attend a game in Miami . . . or, the formula includes the entire Miami population, as well as the low attendance figures into account. Regardless, it sounds like a fairly good deal to attend a game in Miami. Plus, they got rid of that stupid statue in CF. lqtm . . .
The Sacto Kings are looking for a new coach again? Vlade just fired Joerger. Warriors announcers loved progress of Kings still a very young but exciting team to watch that won 39 games this year. Kings regularly gave Golden State all they could handle. Bagley missed ton of games too and he’s gonna be really good. Just a WTF move.

I don’t get it. This guy Joerger led them to their best season in 13 years and they’re firing him. I definitely do NOT follow basketball, but it seems like this guy is doing something right. Please explain Willie and/or Zumiee.
With all the divisions being snore fests – exception being the Northwest Division – it would seem to be a good policy to give these coaches more power versus the superstar players, whom seem to rule the roost. Frankly, I don’t know of one coach who has the equivalent power of a Red Auerbach, Chuck Daly, Jerry Sloan, or a John Kundla. Again, just my take, but it all ended when Michael Jordan became the unofficial coach of the Bulls. To me, Phil Jackson was just a “yes man.”
Maybe Gregg Popovich is the only one today, but that’s it.
Jackson’s offensive schemes were pretty revolutionary. Sure, it helped to have the best player on the planet, but still 9 championships is still impressive. You can have the players and lose with them. Just ask Marc Jackson.
Actually, 11 championships (2 he played on). Also, Phil didn’t invent the “triangle” offense . . . Sam Barry from the frickin’ 40s did. Tex Winter was his pupil and ta da! Winter worked for Jackson as an assistant coach. Regardless, if you don’t have the players, you will fail using this offense (see the Knicks).
Unca, I will give Jackson this – he managed unbelievable egos on both the Bulls and the Lakers. In my opinion, probably the toughest part of being a coach in the modern era. His “Zen Master” motivational techniques were unorthodox and his tactical abilities (especially the adjustments he made during playoff series) were underrated.
Jackson was excellent off the bench for the championship Knicks in ’73, but I’m pretty sure he missed the entire 69-70 championship season with back surgery. Guess they still gave him a ring…
Vlade is an idiot. The Kings won more games than they should have early, and the coach paid for it in the end.
LAst I checked, Walton was still coaching the Lakers.
Who knows if Kerr is a good coach. Shit he may be. But he’s had nothing but stacked all stars. Walton went like 40-5 or send shit when he filled in for Kerr.
Marc Jackson didn’t win with them.
I don’t agree with firing Joerger, but I’m not shocked that it happened. A lot of great things happened for the Kings this season, but a lot of weird things happened, too. Last night, the Kings blew a 28 point lead and lost. I know that Joerger was just trying to play everyone in the last game and wasn’t as concerned about winning, but he probably should have been concerned about winning that game. It would have given the Kings 40 wins which would have been nice. Maybe he had already been told he wasn’t coming back.
The Kings blew some really big leads in some games this season. The Nets game was a brutal loss for the Kings, after having about a 25 point lead in the 3rd quarter. I think Vlade felt that Joerger got the offense going, but something was missing defensively. They’ve previously had head coaches that were defensive tacticians more than offensive tacticians. Vlade’s looking for that perfect fit, which may be really hard to find.
I actually think Vlade is getting better at GM-ing, but he has a ways to go. The Kings are drafting better, and Harrison Barnes was a nice pick-up. Vlade was pretty terrible at GM-ing when he first started.
I also think that the Kings’ TV play-by-play guy Grant Napear may have influenced the decision to fire Joerger a little. Napear has been pretty critical of Joerger the last few weeks, strongly questioning substitution patterns, Xs and Os, and other things. It made it a little awkward for analyst Doug Christie at times, who wasn’t comfortable being that critical of the coach. I think Napear meant well, but he was too harsh at times, IMO. Napear has been the TV play-by-play guy a long time, and I could see people being somewhat influenced by him.
Still a shocker to me Magic stepping down. Supposedly had a good relationship with Jeanie Buss and vice-versa, but she is still a big fan of Luke Walton, where he isn’t ,and maybe he just wasn’t going to get the call on axing him, so instead of hurt feelings he just bailed out..
Cards completed the 4 game sweep of the Dodgers. They just flat-out out-played the Dodgers in every phase of the game. It was nice to see the Dodgers come back to Earth a bit after the strong start.
I wonder if the Dodgers were getting a little full of themselves, thinking that they just needed to throw their uniforms out on the field to get wins.

Don’t get Kings firing Jaeger after so much improvement. I was so bitter over passing on Doncic (still am) that I didn’t follow them as closely as usual this year. KIngs are really young team(beside recently acquired Barnes) and some of them only played a year of college. By contrast, Warriors entire core 8 man rotation all have 6 yrs plus. Curry just turned 30. Lot of big scorers in West (Harden George Westbrook) are seasoned vets and just out experience Kings. Do think they could use a banger type traditional power forward inside guy with more physical presence than Cauley Stein or Bagley, .They drafted Swanigan from Purdue but didn’t get much out of him for whatever reason.
Fail to see how players having to adjust to new coach is a benefit after 39 W season.

Buster has 0 rbi’s because he can’t hit. Several hittable pitches and he fouled them weakly. I never hear solid contact when he hits. Even the fouls are weak. .222 slugging??? If he hits> 5 homers this year I’ll be shocked. Sad. As I was watching i told my wife..If his swing doesn’t improve he won’t hit a homer all year.
The power is probably gone for good.

I remember him citing the reliability just can’t recall the letters B something Index. Rox would appear to have been at historic low last night. Even Arenado had oh fer.
