DC Bound
Back in the states last night, I was greeted rudely by that Warriors score. Sucks about Boogie but maybe they rally around him being down. They obviously need something to inspire them, they don’t have the same drive they’ve had in the past. Something has been wrong with the Dubs all season. I’ll say this, playing a team with Beverley, Harrell and Sweet Lou on it, 3 dudes who live to feel slighted, is probably the wrong match up for Oakland.
Strasburg tonight. I’m worried Pillar alone can’t carry the load. lqtm. But seriously, east coast swings are usually the death of us and as the worst hitting team in mlb. We’ve scored the second fewest runs and can you imagine where we would be without 1.0? Easily last in runs scored.
Dubs wandering, Giants sucking…at least I’m not sweating anymore. Man, Big Flavor was a sweating fool in that Costa Rica climate…..
San Dawg, reupholster all of your furniture in plastic wrap before you read this article. 🙂
https://theathletic.com/927430/2019/04/16/exclusive-giants-acknowledge-its-finally-time-to-explore-moving-in-the-fences-at-oracle-park/
One thing we have seen in the start of the season and what I remarked after the first week is that we have an above average bullpen and a decent enough level of starters and that pitching has kept us in games and actually shockingly besides Pillar won us 7 games, which I thought would not happen until the end of April.
If we move in fences, will that actually convince prime time hitting free agents to come to SF??? I still dont think so. But we can always attract some mid-level starters and decent bullpen arms with the current configurations of the ballpark and the park helps make them above average in SF. We will see more if Pomeranz can stay in the rotation but the park has resurrected Holland and Smard had a big friendly start at home last week. So moving in the fences may be a double-edged sword…
this guy is full of shit about this being his first bet. He’s in debt up to his eyeballs and all of a sudden he bets everything he can get his hands on that Tiger would win the Masters? Hogwash
https://www.golfdigest.com/story/gambler-who-won-dollar12-million-on-tiger-woods-2019-masters-victory-i-had-never-placed-a-bet-on-sports-in-my-life
He is a day trader and did some analytics it looks like on tiger and never placed a sports bet before??? Yeah I am not buying it either nor that he is walking around Vegas with $85k in cash in a backpack…
I did not realize till Sunday when someone asked me if I needed Giants tickets this week that I realized they were even coming to town. But I am not paying good cash on this team nor giving my money to the Nats…of course Nats with the highest bullpen ERA in the NL may be a good trade candidate for Dyson or Will Smith…
We talking Tyler Walker levels of sweat here or what?
I made him look cool, calm and composed
I went to bed at halftime last night (30 point Warrior lead). Game was in the bag…oops.
Flav – I was just going to post the link on consideration of moving in the fences at Oracle. I know there have been some lively debates here, over the years. Let it rip, Flappers.
I awoke in a state of shock about that warriors game…and Boogie getting hurt. I dont like the karma of this season. The problem is not that I see us losing to the clippers but do they take us to 7 games and then we get the rockets and already a worn team???
I don’t see this series going seven. Not worried about the Clips. The team to worry about is Houston. They are probably salivating over last night’s clusterfuck.
The open area where pens would go is mostly beyond straightaway CF, right? Wonder what else would be on the table.
.
Can’t they move the 421 ft area in left center closer to say 395ft and add a lot more seats 💺?
I doubt they fuck with “The Garden” area in CF. That place is always packed and has to be a huge money-maker.
Good take over at MLBTR regarding the upcoming fire sale. Basically the whole pitching staff could be enticing to other teams. I doubt Samardzija’s performance will hold but he’s probably thinking about football anyway.
Chris Davis connections with Giants get funkier. Yesterday he homered (first this year obviously) off—Heath Hembree of Boston.
Read something on F/G where roto guy is talking about fantasy hitters off to slow starts, who you should you be worried about or not, yada yada. Wonder if there are peripherals that would indicate one way or another how giants hitters would fare going forward–hard contact, swinging strike, out of zone, etc. hmmnn
As James mentioned last night, right now most of them are so bad you wouldn’t expect that to continue, but…
Yikes! Bart got hit in hand last night in san Jose, going to see some specialist according nbcsports. Ramos homered, his 4th and mcc site said he now has almost as many walks as Ks, way more plate discipline than last year. Shaw tripled and homered for Richmond, his second and is playing LF.
Not sure how I feel about messing with yard other than moving pens off the field. It was cool to see pen guys up close warming up along lines though. Saw Gossage doing that for early 80s Yanks vs. A’s , wow.
Yeah we had a line on seats a while back that were 5 rows off the bullpen on the Giants side. It was pretty cool to see Timmy and Matt warm up before games, ahd Wilson, Romo, Affeldt, Mota do their thing during games. I think those pics are in the pic bucket.
The downside of a top prospect being in the minors. They have to face a lot of garbage pitchers.
At least is was his left hand, not his throwing hand.
At least it was his second metacarpal, not his first or third…
Ahhh shit. That sucks.
As does our lineup. This is like Animal House. “Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, Flounder. 3 C’s and an F. A 1.8 grade point average, Hoover. Congratulations, you have the highest GPA in Delta house.
Crawfish, .228 leads the way. Congratulations, Brendan . . .
Pathetic. 1.0 leadoff double and he is stranded there
It wasn’t inspirational enough. Maybe he shoulda tried to steal third, force an error by the catcher, fire up the whole dugout, start a 10 game winning streak.
your disrespect of our best hitter this season is reaching a new low.
I am enjoying your emotional investment in the new Randy Winn.
baseball is a game of emotion my man, that sandwiched together stat of yours is diluting your love of the game.
Brandon Belt’s tears were genuinely touching.
yes, he was clearly sad again about striking out in the first inning.
So glad Pillar is batting 7th. Jesus.
Miller sounding absolutely stunned by Longoria’s homer…
Longo dongo finally.
Yup, Strasburg had to come into Longoria because Pillar was batting behind him.
Dig dug!!
Looks like the impossibility of all those horrible numbers is finally starting to kick in.
I suppose you prefer his predecessor?
I meant Longoria, Duggar maybe et al.
Miller droning on endlessly about Buster’s defensive stats & metrics.
Not a peep about his homerless 260ish ABS…
They HAVE to drop him in the order.
BB9 joins the party!
and now, tears of joy!
Nice!
Parra does something!
et al Parra
Keep the line moving.
Great bunt by Panik.
lotta 1.0’s getting doled out in tomorrow’s thread.
# 42 is having a hell of a game.
“Watch this, DP by the face of the franchise”
Mrs. James: “Stop being an asshole.”
“First pitch”
Maybe the dr. needs to go back in and put that hip back together the way it was before the surgery…..
Do it for Notre Dame, Melançon!
That’ll do it.
Hell of a win. D-Rod was all over the place early and still gutted out 5 for the win. The bats showed up something that has to happen to win a baseball game. 1.0 continues to shine. Love the double and then the sb next time up. Continue to stand on second base, good things will happen…
I’m not a player number guy, I know almost nobody’s number. So I was legit surprised when I just saw that 1.0’s number is…..1
this is sick
hanging breaking ball results in Salami for Bregman. Srros third bomb of night at Coliseum 8-0 over A’s in 4th.
I’m a little disappointed in Jose homeboys. somebody from Visalia walks into your backyard, beans the Franchise, no way he gets on the team bus unless it’s on its way to Valley Med Ctr. emergency and he’s on a stretcher.
that’s too old school for these sissy kids playing ball today.
isn’t this sport supposed to be over soon?
first round of playoffs just like NBA. so, no. This was bad matchup for Sharks who lost first place with an ill timed late season slide. Might be looking for upgrade in net off season.
what are the odds that they will be bought by an eccentric billionaire and moved to another city far, far away? Asking for a friend……
Flav, there’s already been a stunning upset in the first round: The Tampa Bay Lightning, who had one of the best regular seasons in NHL history, got swept in the first round by the Columbus Blue Jackets, who I don’t think had ever won a playoff series.
hockey in Tampa Bay? I’m already losing interest….
How would you like to be a Tampa Bay Lightning fan?
Too many ex-Rangers…
MTO’s legacy will be the new bullpens.
Still wondering if he can sue…
mm someone on the McCovey site said it’s been 2 injuries in 19 years.
But not out of question I guess to have padded the wall he crashed into.
11 weeks from now, every AL team should wear #14 for the great Larry Doby.
The Buzz Aldrin of baseball. A disgraceful oversight.
Is it because Jackie Robinson’s name is easier to remember?
New York bias? WTF already?
To their credit, A’s announcers did mention him tonite. Never realized how good a hitter he was.
FWAR might be the first stat named after a person since Andy Beyer…
excellent call.
my buddy had a shot to have dinner with Andy Beyer about a month ago. If this were 25 years ago this would have been the biggest things in our lives. Anyway, his kid had a soccer game he had to fly back to Ca for. No way around it he said. I told him, “you’ve gotten old”.
Only 2 of the Original Six made playoffs, and one is going to eliminate the other one.
For an anthem, O Canada isn’t bad.
No one did it better than Roger Doucet at the Montreal Forum…
