He’s a Bum

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 27, 2019

Sadly, the cat is now nearly out of the bag on Bumgarner. He’s just a guy. I had hoped we could hoodwink a contender into trading for the ghosts of his past but nobody is that desperate.

The only question remaining will be what the Giants do with him. They can’t extend him, right? If they do that they’re just trying to sell tickets to fans who just like talking about what once was….

yeah last night sucked. Never know what might have happened had dang RF mound not prevented Duggar from catching that foul, after which Yanks put first 2 on board. Too much loud contact from Yanks non stars, off Melancon too after Giants had cut deficit to 5-3. Posey striking out after Britton had loaded sacks was awful.
Best shot Giants had all night was the one Belt hit to dead CF wallby 399 sign.

Cool pic on cbs site of Vlad Jr. entering stadium in old Expos uni. Dad got to see him get first ML hit, nice.

    • Flavor said, on April 27, 2019 at 8:48 am

i find this Vlad Jr shit to be completely overdone and he’s already overexposed. It’s not his fault, but his dad is feeding into it and mlb must be desperate if they’re spending literally 24/7 hyping this guy.

Loved the stadium atmosphere, but too many Yankee fans. 3 sitting right in front wearing Judge and Jeter shirts was too much for someone from the East coast trying to enjoy a breather of that sight.
Yeah, lost opportunities ( Posey had them loaded.. Hurt) and Belts’ almost.
Will try for some Local Giants can warmth at Double Play bar for game 2.

Agree prospect stuff is way overplayed. Tatis Jr. got lot of attention too, and every team and fans seem guilty of heightened expectations based on minor league stats. In other suck news Hank said Ramos “felt soreness while swinging a bat and was placed on the injured list.”

Clippers btw aren’t going anywhere. Warriors are gonna be cash strapped and could lose couple starters and Looney/other reserves to FA. It’s pretty obvious how important Durant alone is to success of their team.
Clips on other hand have flexibility to sign couple max guys and have The Logo in front office to help them get the right one(s).

Niners just selected a fucking PUNTER with their 4th round pick. This team is run by incompetents……

  4. zumiee said, on April 27, 2019 at 9:41 am

MLB wants more stars that the public will recognize, but it’s harder to be a star in baseball. You’ll bat 4 or 5 times in a game, contribute to scoring sometimes, and make a great defensive play once in a while.
Steph Curry does that in one quarter.

    • zumiee said, on April 27, 2019 at 9:43 am

He might do that in 2 or 3 minutes.

  5. zumiee said, on April 27, 2019 at 9:44 am

Mike Trout is a dud as an ambassador for the game with his bland personality. He doesn’t even make his team all that much better.

    • gianthead said, on April 27, 2019 at 10:14 am

Total dud…why MLB is desperate for attentiom and trying to market next gen of “stars”….

  6. zumiee said, on April 27, 2019 at 9:49 am

Bum is searching for his identity now as a pitcher, now that his stuff isn’t what it used to be.

  7. xoot said, on April 27, 2019 at 10:10 am

Melancon’s surprising stretch of 2019 competence may have run its course. Hard to see how he could be part of that deal for an OF mlbtr says Zaidi’s working on. Dead wood? That’s easy to imagine.

Meanwhile, our dotard in chief is trolling 49er fans this morning.

Ome thing that bugs me about this story from even this comment and the media…Bosa and the Niners dont fucking play in San Francisco!!! They play in what I am now terming Outer San Jose!!!

      • zumiee said, on April 27, 2019 at 10:31 am

How many NFL teams actually play in the city they’re named after?
I can verify the Seahawks do. I’ve seen their stadium in Seattle.

      • xoot said, on April 27, 2019 at 11:05 am

The E Coli is in East Oakland. (Now that would’ve been interesting — if SF had selected someone else, the Raiders probably could’ve taken Bosa.)

Trump is too busy tweeting to notice the national debt is increasing $2 million per minute. Nothing but the sound of crickets from the GOP.

    • zumiee said, on April 27, 2019 at 10:44 am

It can increase half a billion during a baseball game. Fun fact!

  9. zumiee said, on April 27, 2019 at 11:35 am

As a stat, RBIs aren’t respected as much as they used to be, but Bellinger’s 33 RBIs before April is over is impressive.

    • Macdog said, on April 27, 2019 at 11:44 am

How about Marco Gonzales’ 5 wins? 🙂

Well the Clippers are certainly landing Kwahi as a free agent and can they lure KD??? I still think KD stays one more year, especially if they win and then think he is New York or DC bound for the 2020/21 season.

One caveat. If Clippers decide to leave LA because of not having their own arena and plan on a move to Seattle, that might be an interesting career move for KD.

    • unca_chuck said, on April 27, 2019 at 5:50 pm

That would be nuts if they go to Seattle.

      Happ vs. Hapless.

  12. zumiee said, on April 27, 2019 at 1:02 pm

We get to hear “Dutch Holland” over and over.
    Weary sigh….

Even back in 1911, it might’ve been rightfully appreciated and dismissed as a dumb one-time joke.

  13. xoot said, on April 27, 2019 at 2:20 pm

“that one hurt”? uh, yeah, it was a grand slam

  14. djloo27 said, on April 27, 2019 at 2:28 pm

How would you like to hear Yankee announcers rehash every SF Giant story that you’ve heard 5,000 times?

  15. zumiee said, on April 27, 2019 at 2:42 pm

We have a classic “wilderness years” game today.
They really have to jettison a bunch of guys after this season.

    • Macdog said, on April 27, 2019 at 2:43 pm

      Why wait that long?

      • zumiee said, on April 27, 2019 at 2:54 pm

        Great point.
I think Zaidi is ready to rock ‘n roll on that, but he also wants to treat the core with respect for the championships won.
Probably if and when the team is way out.

    • blade3colorado said, on April 27, 2019 at 2:53 pm

This season??? How about after this game? Right now this team needs a collective biphasic defibrillator . . . I just quickly scanned the River Cats stats and I would send Duggar and his 34 Ks in about 104 at bats on a Greyhound to Sacramento. Same deal for Parra, Panik and Solarte. Replace them all with Mac, Gerber, Solano, and Slater. That don’t work, than bring (Henry) Ramos and Valera up.

The only reason the rest of this crew stays is that Sacramento has no SS, 3B, or C that are doing well.

      • zumiee said, on April 27, 2019 at 2:55 pm

        All great points.

I’d love to know the last time Old Man Happ pitched 7 complete with zero runs allowed.

    • Macdog said, on April 27, 2019 at 3:40 pm

      Last August vs. the Rays.

lol, i got this not once but twice for Christmas one year.

  18. Flavor said, on April 27, 2019 at 4:02 pm

i don’t think it matters if Bochy is making these decisions anymore or not. Maybe a younger guy would have made the move to Gott, maybe not. Bottom line: I have no idea why Bochy is sticking around for this drag of a season. He’s got plenty of $$$$ it’s not for the $$$$

  19. theroooster said, on April 27, 2019 at 4:38 pm

Bauer out of the gate on a roll, getting cocky :

    Pretty funny

  20. Flavor said, on April 27, 2019 at 5:50 pm

Man what has happened to Thor? Is he pitching hurt? That guy fucking sucks balls now

  21. unca_chuck said, on April 27, 2019 at 5:54 pm

I said in January Bochy walks at the break due to exhaustion. Or indifference.

    A punter? WTBF? Jesus.

    • djloo27 said, on April 27, 2019 at 7:18 pm

The FO should give him a strong push in that direction. This is long overdue.
They’re too worried about how it’ll look when in reality no one gives a fuck…

  22. zumiee said, on April 27, 2019 at 8:28 pm

Stupid “by the gut” managing by Hurdle costs the Pirates the game vs. the Dodgers. More of that “let the starting pitcher get out of his train wreck late in the game” managing that belongs to previous generations.

  23. djloo27 said, on April 27, 2019 at 8:34 pm

Maybe a real beat down by LA this week will get some action.
    Yeah right…

  24. zumiee said, on April 27, 2019 at 8:38 pm

Nuggets/Spurs game is a time machine back to 60 years ago.

    • willedav said, on April 28, 2019 at 7:01 am

Pop almost had them. Down 17 cut it to 2 (on road no less), couple dumb shots at end. Denver won’t last. Portland either I don’t think.
      title series starts today.

Jesus you’re using someone who played almost 50 years ago to make your point

Hope someone reminds Guy to start taking his RMD next year…

      • djloo27 said, on April 28, 2019 at 8:25 am

SanDawg and I both know that the real greatest punter ever was Jerrell Wilson.
IIRC and CMIIW, but the horrible showing by the Dolphin punter, Reggie Roby, was definitely a factor in the SB loss to your Niners. The guy (no pun) was considered a weapon going into that game…
