After how each of those 3 games started over the weekend, if we end up winning today and taking 3 of 4, I will be shitting myself…

Flem complaining that the Reds aren’t doing enough to honor Bochy and then goes on to talk about all the things they’ve done – gift of wine and other booze influenced paraphernalia, pregame PA announcement and whatnot. Really not getting the angst over Bochy’s farewell tour and which cities/orgs are living up to it. Is this really a thing to honor retiring managers of opposing teams?

    • Flavor said, on May 6, 2019 at 10:45 am

I’ve never heard of it. Also, shouldn’t the Reds and their fans not even like Bochy? He basically stole that series from them in ’12

      • blade3colorado said, on May 6, 2019 at 11:25 am

Yeah, same thing regarding St. Louis, where we went next and came back with 3 consecutive wins to take the pennant. So, I don’t see St Louis doing much for Bochy either.

    • alleykat69 said, on May 6, 2019 at 11:33 am

I only remember Bobby Cox getting a farewell tour..

  4. alleykat69 said, on May 6, 2019 at 10:17 am

Geez Giants can’t get out of town quick enough in this white flag LU..

  5. Macdog said, on May 6, 2019 at 10:17 am

    Pummelranz.

    • blade3colorado said, on May 6, 2019 at 10:45 am

Good one Mac . . . Pummelranz, Smashg, Bleech, and Bombe.

  6. blade3colorado said, on May 6, 2019 at 10:36 am

Great stat I just heard . . . 22 of 30 Cincy runs came via the HR, approximately 73%. Whoops . . . With that bomb, it ups their average.

    • Macdog said, on May 6, 2019 at 10:42 am

      74%.

  7. alleykat69 said, on May 6, 2019 at 10:38 am

How about this being a farewell game for Pomeranz!

    • blade3colorado said, on May 6, 2019 at 10:41 am

AK, how about the entire starting pitching staff, with the exception of Madbum?

      • alleykat69 said, on May 6, 2019 at 10:47 am

        Works for me Blade!
And wait till they hit Sherpa launch 🚀

  8. Flavor said, on May 6, 2019 at 10:44 am

I’m not a huge park factors guy. But this stadium is a joke. Hit a ball in the air, gone

  9. alleykat69 said, on May 6, 2019 at 10:50 am

Should of put Pomeranz’s face inside the bee’s cardboard box🐝🐝🐝🐝

  10. unca_chuck said, on May 6, 2019 at 11:39 am

Shit, travelling. early game blues already?

  11. unca_chuck said, on May 6, 2019 at 11:50 am

    Shit. Another comeback?

  12. Flavor said, on May 6, 2019 at 11:51 am

the beginning of yet another comeback? You know what, I’m not buying this shit. It’s not resiliency to consistently go down 5, 7,8 runs a game before you start coming back. It is human nature for the team with the big lead to take a little gas off the pedal. Pitchers are throwing strikes, that’s what you’re supposed to do with a big lead. They are coming back but it’s mostly kind of a fake-comeback excluding the epic game they finished the deal and came back and won 11-10.

  13. unca_chuck said, on May 6, 2019 at 11:54 am

‘Watching’ game cast and it says. ‘Venditte pitching right handed’ ‘Venditte now pitching left handed.’

    Crazy.

    • unca_chuck said, on May 6, 2019 at 12:01 pm

Maybe he should use his feet for fuck’s sake.

    • Macdog said, on May 6, 2019 at 12:03 pm

Now saying, “Venditte getting clobbered right handed, Venditte getting clobbered left handed.”

  14. unca_chuck said, on May 6, 2019 at 11:55 am

Hey, you take ’em of you can get ’em, Flav. 15-19 is a lot better than I thought they’d be. I figured they’d be 10 under .500 by now.

  15. blade3colorado said, on May 6, 2019 at 12:01 pm

This Venditte cat is gone after this game. No way he makes the trip to Denver.

  16. zumiee said, on May 6, 2019 at 12:01 pm

We’ve got a bunch of starting pitchers that are pitch-to-contact guys, and that doesn’t work well in this juice ball era.

    • Macdog said, on May 6, 2019 at 12:04 pm

      Yeah, that’s a problem.

  17. zumiee said, on May 6, 2019 at 12:02 pm

I’m very glad the juice ball was introduced AFTER the Giants won the 3-in-5.

  18. unca_chuck said, on May 6, 2019 at 12:02 pm

Smoked ribs in the Dallas airport and they were pretty damn good. Washed down with a Texas Red ale.

    Most excellent. Off to mobile.

    • blade3colorado said, on May 6, 2019 at 12:04 pm

I’ll be in Houston about this time tomorrow . . . Then off to Panama and Uruguay.

      • xoot said, on May 6, 2019 at 4:25 pm

I’ll bet the Canal Zone, both sides, has changed a lot since the mid-70s. But Almirante, a pestilent port town in the Bocas del Toro Province, is probably the same. I got stuck there for a week, steering clear of the zopilotes in the muddy streets, waiting for a local freighter to hop to Colon. Keep your knife in your hand, many people advised, the entire time you’re in the Zone. But I’m sure a lot has changed, since then. And the San Blas islands must still be worth the trip. Que te vaya bien.

  19. zumiee said, on May 6, 2019 at 12:04 pm

I’m not at all a conspiracy theorist type of person, but…..interesting how the juiced ball shows up after the Giants start winning a bunch of championships, and the World Series TV ratings aren’t the greatest.

  20. zumiee said, on May 6, 2019 at 12:07 pm

Trivia question (no cheating 🙂 )
Gaylord Perry won his 300th game pitching for what team?

    • Macdog said, on May 6, 2019 at 12:08 pm

      Mariners?

    • blade3colorado said, on May 6, 2019 at 12:08 pm

Cincy (and only because I think you’re being sneaky)?

    • gianthead said, on May 6, 2019 at 12:11 pm

      Padres?

    • unca_chuck said, on May 6, 2019 at 3:42 pm

      Indians?

  21. alleykat69 said, on May 6, 2019 at 12:14 pm

    Lansing Lugnuts?

  22. alleykat69 said, on May 6, 2019 at 12:18 pm

That was an impressive amount of ineptitude for the Giants pitching staff that inning.
Hit 4 Reds batters, 2 with the baseloaded!

    • Macdog said, on May 6, 2019 at 12:21 pm

      Tied an MLB record!

  23. alleykat69 said, on May 6, 2019 at 12:42 pm

Alright Pablo joins the hit batter club!
If I’m a Giants hitter in the 9th I would ask for a pitcher to hit for me..

  24. sandog said, on May 6, 2019 at 1:50 pm

Reds hit 15 homers in that series.
Mix Great American and Oracle together and I think you could have 2 pretty fair ballparks.

  25. zumiee said, on May 6, 2019 at 2:21 pm

Mac is correct! Gaylord got his 300th win with the Mariners. Like Randy Johnson getting his 300th with the Giants.

    • unca_chuck said, on May 6, 2019 at 4:08 pm

Carlton getting his 4000th k with the Giants.

  26. zumiee said, on May 6, 2019 at 2:22 pm

Zaidi has kind of an inexplicable fascination with Venditte.

  27. Flavor said, on May 6, 2019 at 3:03 pm

    So Pomeranz….sucks?

  28. unca_chuck said, on May 6, 2019 at 4:10 pm

    1-4, 5.93 ERA? He swallows.

  29. zumiee said, on May 6, 2019 at 4:23 pm

That was a heck of a trip through the Giants’ starting rotation.

  30. alleykat69 said, on May 6, 2019 at 4:34 pm

Tired of looking at this sorry ass starting pitching staff!
Bring up Shaun Anderson just to get a fresh live arm up here, can’t be any worse and probably better..

  31. zumiee said, on May 6, 2019 at 5:30 pm

Not to keep kicking the Longo trade, but……Tampa Bay is off to a great start this season, and they did exactly what they needed to do with Longo; find some team willing to trade for him. Probably no other execs except Sabean/Evans would have made that deal in the current analytics era.

    • sandog said, on May 6, 2019 at 6:15 pm

I actually liked the trade the day we made it (I think most/all of us did).
But looking back, man did they time it right and fleece us.

      • Flavor said, on May 6, 2019 at 6:27 pm

Fleece us? We gave up Arroyo (who sucks).

      • sandog said, on May 6, 2019 at 6:42 pm

But we took on that contract man. Its all about that wretched contract.

      • Flavor said, on May 6, 2019 at 7:47 pm

Sure, from that standpoint, yes. I’d say they saddled us more than we got fleeced, but that’s just semantics I guess

    • xoot said, on May 6, 2019 at 6:25 pm

At the time, as soon as I saw mlbtr’s report that Longo was on the block, I knew Evans would grab him. A cold, cold feeling followed. I had no idea if he’d be ok for a year or two, but I was damn sure he wouldn’t be killing it through 2022. Was any other team interested, given TB’s willingness to pay some of the freight? I don’t know.

      • Flavor said, on May 6, 2019 at 7:51 pm

“a cold, cold feeling followed” …that’s fucking epic.

      • xoot said, on May 6, 2019 at 8:09 pm

        well, to be honest:

      • willedav said, on May 6, 2019 at 9:36 pm

awesome zoot. Bay Area could get the road blues trifecta tonite–Giants Warriors lose, Sharks down a goal last 4 minutes to Colorado.

  32. unca_chuck said, on May 6, 2019 at 8:19 pm

Warriors are killing me. They can’t shoot for shit. They are starting to get chippy. It;ll lose them this game if noit more. Then again, this is probably the toughest series they have if they get through it.

Nice pull, Xoot. Love me some Albert Collins.

  33. unca_chuck said, on May 6, 2019 at 8:25 pm

If Steph and Klay aren’t shooting, these guys are going down. KD is the only one doing it.

  34. alleykat69 said, on May 6, 2019 at 8:36 pm

Sharks 🦈 just tied it up 1-1 on a goal by Pickles Vlasic, win and they move on..

    • unca_chuck said, on May 6, 2019 at 8:39 pm

Don;t think I can find the Sharks game in Alabama!

      • alleykat69 said, on May 6, 2019 at 8:43 pm

Yeah you might have better luck finding a still..

  35. unca_chuck said, on May 6, 2019 at 8:36 pm

    The bench is doing nothing.

  36. alleykat69 said, on May 6, 2019 at 8:42 pm

Dubs just getting out hustled , losing the boards badly. Then again more of a must win for Rockets, though you would like to get one out of the 2.

  37. unca_chuck said, on May 6, 2019 at 8:45 pm

This is flat sad. Every 50/50 ball is gotten by Houston.

  38. unca_chuck said, on May 6, 2019 at 8:47 pm

If we could shoot we might be able to come back.

  39. unca_chuck said, on May 6, 2019 at 9:01 pm

What kills me is they play like shit for 45 minutes and claw back. If they played like they should, they’d be up 8.

  40. unca_chuck said, on May 6, 2019 at 9:07 pm

Once again is it good news they play like shit all game and still push it to the end? Or is it bad news that we played like shit? Out boarded all game and out shot.

    • willedav said, on May 6, 2019 at 9:27 pm

      Maybe Thompson needs another swim.

  41. alleykat69 said, on May 6, 2019 at 9:08 pm

Can’t ask for more 2 good looks at 3’s to tie it, back to GS for a pivotal game 5..

  42. willedav said, on May 6, 2019 at 9:24 pm

Don’t forget part of the Longo deal was Tampa taking last year of Span’s contract off Giants hands.

    • djloo27 said, on May 6, 2019 at 9:40 pm

  43. willedav said, on May 6, 2019 at 9:40 pm

Sharks tie it up, shot goes in off defenseman’s skate 3-3.

  44. alleykat69 said, on May 6, 2019 at 9:40 pm

Sharks tie it up late 3-3 on a goal by pickles!!🦈🦈🦈

  45. alleykat69 said, on May 6, 2019 at 9:45 pm

Overtime in Denver! Win this bitch and move on!!

  46. willedav said, on May 6, 2019 at 9:48 pm

Hank Aaron was born in Mobile too, and Billy Williams not far away in Whisler, part of unincorporated Mobile county about 7 miles north of there.

    • djloo27 said, on May 6, 2019 at 9:51 pm

Cleon Jones & Tommie Agee somewhere around there, too…

    • xoot said, on May 6, 2019 at 10:41 pm

Stabler nearby. Sorry. Not baseball. But . . . .

    • Bozo said, on May 7, 2019 at 7:41 pm

Hey, just drove by the Hank Aaron Stadium on I65 in Mobile yesterday and also a week ago (going to and from New Orleans). I’ve passed it many times but have never stopped. Last year we did take 59 down so I could stop by Regions Field, in Birmingham and check out the Mays statue. As fucked up as Alabama has been over the years and continues to be, gotta say some of the greatest ballplayers ever have escaped from there, Mays, McCovey, Aaron, Satchel Paige…

  47. alleykat69 said, on May 6, 2019 at 10:03 pm

Any of them use Going Mobile by The Who for their walk up music 🎶?? I’m guessing not..

  48. alleykat69 said, on May 6, 2019 at 10:06 pm

Sharks just choked in OT,game 7 winner take all in SJ🥺😫
