Did Dutch Say Too Much?
“To be honest I have no idea what they’re doing. And I’m not talking about Boch and them, it’s the front office….I did a fake injury, so I’m not happy about that…”–Holland.
So, say goodbye to Derrick Holland. You can’t call out your boss like that and skate free. And that’s fine, he’s not part of any solution, he was, at best, not a bad dart throw from our past.
But this is good for Zaidi to hear. I like all the moves he makes because it’s the polar opposite of Sabean and Evans who literally did nothing once the season started. And as I said repeatedly before the season, last place was always GUARANTEED for this squad. Moves NEED to be made. But we’re still dealing with human beings here, and even worse baseball players, some of the worst creatures of habit roaming the earth.
So hopefully he’s learning as he goes. He can’t expect his players to celebrate the 32 catcher transactions he puts in each week…..
maybe he did. bottom line though he’s been awful. ERA is 6.75, he’s walked 20 guys and given up 10 bombs in 34 innings. For a team in last place hard to think any rotation spot is automatic.
Ideally, moving pitchers on/off IL keeps their innings and wear and tear down and if a guy isn’t going well gives him a chance to work on some things with staff. So hopefully he gets back on track and comes back a more productive player. sounds like good strategy to me and for most part it’s worked pretty well for LA.
It’s not like Holland would bring back much if he had to be dealt off.
I want Holland to get cut just so I don’t have to listen to K/K call him *Dutch* anymore.
Wow. Talk about missing the point of what is happening with the team right now,
Like Pence, Law, and Blach before him, Holland seems to think being cute, funny, and active on social media guarantees them some kind of standing with the team and fans. Pence gets a partial pass because he actually WAS successful, but these other guys are a joke.
Has Pence kept up the stupid instagram/video shit with his wife?
Dump Dutch is what Zman should do and bring up Shaun Anderson to pitch that TBT start coming up!
Holland’s been a pain in their ass ever since his derogatory words of Asians, cut ties, no loss..
Completely agree. He’s a jackass and he sucks…
I give Duggar credit for pulling the ball and smacking it by puig last night. Reds weren’t playing him that way and he burned the D. He does have 3 bombs. I know that ain’t much but compared to some other vet LHs on SF…
Just like Mac he’s gonna have to learn to hit ML pitching and there’s gonna be a lot of fail. work your way through it, don’t let if affect your D and see if you can get the OB up and help the club.
Funny thing about Giants hitting coaches too. About a week or so ago, J Shea had column in chron about Bonds stepping into the cage in his workout outfit and just whacking the ball. Supposedly he talks to Schu and Powell. we all know he’s never gonna be around for 162 but what a tremendous resource. Can’t imagine any of young guys would turn down opportunity to listen/work with him.
Giant hitters should all embrace Bonds and his knowledge, cause theirs no reason to listen to are 2 headed idiots of Schu&Powell who are by far the worst hitting coaches in baseball ..
I like Duggar overall, he’s part of their solution/future,his base running although I like his aggressiveness, has me shaking my head.Hes been hosed to many times in critical situations that have killed rallies.
Bummer..Actress Peggy Lipton of “Mod Squad Fame” has passed away from cancer at the age of 72..
RIP Peggy, you will be sorely missed!!
I most definitely remember that show. The premise was ridiculous, but the show was pretty decent. Peggy Lipton was definitely EZ on the eyes as the pseudo flower child turned undercover cop…
Baseball Reference making me nutty:
Albert Pujols has exactly ONE triple since 2010 in over 5,000 PA…

This has been boiling over for a while now. The phantom DL isn’t new, but there’s been a lot of grumbling from Giants about the “injuries” the past couple weeks. The clubhouse isn’t happy with all the roster moves.
Sounds like Holland isn’t the only one, he is probably just the one guy who wants to be traded or DFAed and I’m fine with that. Although I gotta say, the merry-go-round of Zaidi fails isn’t making me warm up to that fucking guy either. Oh yeah, Kratz has been reactivated, woo hoo.
Kratz gets the start:
2B Panik
RF Duggar
3B Longo
1B Pablo
LF Mac
SS Craw
CF Pillar
C Kratz
SP MadBum
“some of the worst creatures of habit roaming the earth”
Awesome scouting report!
The Giants suck. Pure and simple.
They’ve sucked for going on 3 seasons. One of the worst squads and organizations in MLB. The skimpy crowds now confirm that obvious analysis.
The ZMan was brought in to turn around this battleship USS Suckage. To do that heavy lifting will take time. First, he has to clear the on-deck wreckage that SabEvans left him. Which was/is a huge pile.
So, we hear Holland likely speaks for a lot of the vets left. So be it. Holland’s cred as a contributor, let alone a Giants contributor, is near zero. Screw him and whichever vets he’s speaking for. Smardzxxx, listen up, bud. The new regime is in place for good reason.
The old days of Sabes and Boch pouring out a couple flagons of Cab in Boch’s office after another loss, and doing squat about it in terms of roster moves, are over. And, thank Keereist for that…
Great 👍 Post Snarkk!!
The USS Suckage had me LMAO 😂
I’ve been having the same mobile login issue snarkk mentioned in the last thread
Probably true that Holland is sort of speaking for the group but nobody gives a shit what he thinks. Especially Zaidi. Whatever. For all the losing, punchless offense and having to watch Panik (who sucks) suck, this kind of complaining from Holland is the thing that will lead to Bochy stepping aside mid season imo.
Bochy came out this morning and apparently said something like those things should be kept in house, his door is always open. He’s definitely a fish outta water in this new turnstile roster environment. I’d still be surprised if he leaves mid-season, though. As for the S disturbing front office ways of this new management, the more the better IMO. The pot needs be stirred, and it’s definitely getting that…
I went back and checked the Giants first round picks since and including Timmy, against those of the Doghairs. Arguably, the Giants have a better record of success. It’s in the lower rounds that the Dodgers over the last half decade or so keep coming up with real MLB players, and the Giants under SabEvans kept drafting guys named Lotsa Bupkus…
Kratz with a Krap first inning of defense to help the Reds start the usual first frame coupla runs. I heard a stat this morning — the Giants have been outscored in first innings so far this year something like 47-2. Could have been 37-2, not sure. Either way, the 2 is for sure. How is that even possible?…
And the shit storm continues!!
The Mothers are filing out quickly to Pier 39 to see some real attractions..
Any other manager from LL on up would be gone by now…
Lucky Luciano?…
Mod Squad theme music is really top notch, had a riveting beat to it!!
Boom Duggar pulls another one, right off top of the wall.
#RidiculousBallpark
If I’m Bochy I would feel extremely guilty excepting farewell gifts from other organizations.
If he doesn’t want any magnums of Screaming Eagle cab, I’ll take them off his hands…
Duggar robbed of an HR in any other park. Another example why this park needs a facelift…
I was calling for Pablo to retire a couple of years ago when he that walk off on the last day of the season.
I got that one wrong.
yeah me too. He’s been a big asset, as opposed to something else.
PandaBlast ! …
Panda put a nice charge in that one!!
The Pink Panda !….
Nice opposite field by Pablo. Gets those 2 runs back and hey, we scored in the first inning.
Pablo ties it up. Another guy beside Pillar for Mac and Duggar to learn from. Sando has played 1b 3b and pitched, isn’t a regular anywhere and comes off bench a lot. Regardless he helps keep clubhouse and dugout in good spirits and just does whatever he’s asked. Perfect role model for the younger guys of what it takes to be ML ballplayer.
47-4 now in first innings. Progress !…
Bum is supposed to be increasing shareholder value in Bum, Inc.
Bum left Cleveland off his list. I could see that as a good fit for ‘19, but not beyond that. Bum wants to bat.
Good season of Brockmire this year. I like it when I can root for him.
I think we will have the easier time beating the Blazers…they will be exhausted after this game and Hood may have just gone down with a knee injury. They are already short-handed…go Blazers…
Are the Sacramento River Cats on Bumgarner’s list?
Hahaha.
Hey have any of you guys seen a movie called:The Battered Bastards of Baseball?
It’s a true story of a former 2 bit Hollywood Actor named Bing Russell (Bonanza other westerns) who loved baseball so much he became a owner of Minor league A team up in Portland( 1974 -76 )after the AAA team bailed( fans stopped coming)and he had tryouts where these crazy guys from all over figuring it’s their last hurrah helped make this team a winner and set attendance records to boot.
One of the players was Bing’s son who happened to be a little more famous actor later on named Kurt Russell who was in his 20’s at the time.Bunch of long haired renegades-that just won, with a owner all others organizations hated. He also got Former Yankee bust Jim Bouton to pitch a season, which he said was some of his best times in baseball.Found in on Netflix if any wants to check it out..
Sounds great; thanks!
Watching Nuggets-Blazers, it’s hard to imagine either team winning at best one game vs. the Warriors.
Yah. Just don’t see defensive intensity and the forwards they start, Aminu and Harkless, don’t do much. Lillard has burned them for 50 before and as you said McCollum is really good too, but overall I don’t see them as tough as Houston was.
Miller already referring to the Oaf as “due”…
MLB should take all the money they spend on that pink garbage as well as the crap they make for every other in season holiday and just donate it to whatever they are supposedly trying to raise awareness for…
Y’all get the Blazers. Heckuva game by McCollum..
road team clinches again. Blazers knock off Denver, get GS next.
Those Belt moonshots sure are sweet. All tied up!
BB9!
Something happened!
Ha our old buddy Parra strikes again, breaking up Ryu’s no hitter with 2 outs in 8th with ground rule double.
You guys ever see this?
Finding ways to lose.
Good to see the pitching go south as soon as the hitting comes around. Including Bummie.
Portland has Lillard and McCollum. And that’s about it. Nurkic? Kanter? Aminu is a good defender, but I think we win in 5. Al we have to do is shoot decently.
Nurkic suffered compound fractures in his leg about two months ago.
Pablo is killing it. Come on, Mac.
Yeah Panda has proved me wrong, and I’m glad he has!
looked like they had him
nah he never caught the ball huh?
Up the line and yeah the catcher dropped it..
As Panda rumbles to the finish line 🏁 for the lead 6-5!!
Like I’ve said before, Panda needs to play more…
Yup.
Zman closing the door on Holland’s career..
Sweep avoided!
Fun game. This is the kind of game needed to keep our interest up in an otherwise rough season…
Agree. Nice win.
Giants Win thhheee Gianttttsss Win
Lots of Mother’s going home happy 😃
Will Smith should command a nice return of a prospect or two in a trade. 10 for 10 in save opps…
Just heard him interviewed on the PG. Sounds like a good dude…
Got Dubs fever. Heading up to Portland for Game 3 on Saturday.
Ha Flav. Was up there late April 2017 for company mgmt. meeting, right after GS had thrashed Blazers.
4 game sweep in first round 1 vs. 8. Game 4 in Portland they scored 46 in first Q and won by 25.
That year they went 16-1 in playoffs, beating Jazz Spurs in West LB’s Cavs only team to win a game.
The Warriors aren’t that good now, but I don’t see a problem with Portland.
my buddy who won on Country House is scoring the seats. He’s a good man.
Ahh, yeah, forgot about Nurkic’s injury.
Holy shit. Just turned on the Philly/Raptor game to see Kawhii Leonard hit a 3 from the corner, tie game, with 0.3 seconds left, that hit the rim 3-4 times before falling through the hoop. The crowd’s dead silence, and deafening roar was nuts!!
that was unbelievably surreal, wasn’t it? Time stopped for a second. Reminded me of the Ishi bomb from the video in the Arcade that made the rounds. Collective silence and then…..explosion
Bum gave up some hits but only 2 earned thanks to Kratz in 6 innings. 0 walks 7 Ks. Kratz doesn’t seem to be dialed in with other pitchers either. Like to see Garcia get more starts while Posey remains out.
That Raptor/ 76er game highlight reel was off the charts.
Kawhi was on fire.
Last second shot was crazy. Hard to beat NBA post-season ball…
For me, there’s nothing better than playoff hockey when my team is on a run..
Was even better years ago when they would actually play 4 games in 5 nights.
You really became familiar with the opposition and the hatred was real…
When I was a kid I watched semi-pro hockey in Central California.
The fights were good…
How ’bout them Golden Seals? Saw one game, and I had no idea what was going on.
Yeah I use to watch semi pro hockey at the Cow Palace (SF Shamrocks)with some buddies of mine.It was great, the beer was 4 bucks for 24 oz, hotdog 2 bucks, and the fights were plentiful!! It really was like watching the movie Slapshot with the 3 Hanson Brothers!!🥅🏒
My most enduring memories of the Cow Palace are Roller Derby, Neil Young’s Live Rust, and the Van Halen / Black Sabbath show in ’78.
Here’s a funny story from that tour.
http://www.vhnd.com/2018/11/09/ozzy-missing-1978-black-sabbath-tour/
Saw some great shows at the Cow Palace but man, I wish I had seen some of the Roller Derby there.
A friend of mine had a older brother who dragged us to a couple roller derbies, and a couple wrestling matches there. Good times.
My mom also took my older sisters and brother to the Beatles there in 1965 (I think). I was 4 and didn’t go. She was a gamer all the way.
Leonard’s game was insane. 41 points on 39 shots?
16-39!!!
Kratz DFAed. Hope he wasn’t Holland’s personal backstop.
Elephant in the room is Posey concussion. This is officially #2, I think. Unofficial unknown. The guy is now a shell of his former self at bat. What happened? The hip? The ankle? It’s not like the guy is 36. Any ideas? $20 million for singles hitter pretty much, though he still can throw people out, in a league where nobody steals much. What they going to do with this guy?…
Yup, may not even be a concussion issue. Could be the hip acting up and he’s getting a breather. Who knows?
Time for playing only first base and see if he can slowly regain his hip strength…his hip is never going to be back to full health by catching…trust in Vogt and Garcia with the young stud on the horizon…
Nope. Belt deserves the job as he has much more power than Posey and is worlds better defensively.
Belt in LF is a non-starter. We are living with Posey as the pitcher whisperer/banjo hitter for the duration it seems. Until Belt goes, Posey is the catcher.
GH…This has been a ongoing story on the Flap for a few years now, and it only comes down to what Posey wants to do,and he loves to catch and I’m fine with it,as he’s still a top 5 catcher a GG caliber and guns out runners.
And I’m tired of them fucking with Belt who’s a GG (imo) by jerking him around to LF that weakens the team at 2 positions when they do that..
At the one quarter mark of the season, Posey is actually on pace for 44 doubles.
Longo, Belt and Pillar for 24 HRS each…
Good riddance on Kratz, most Flappers could hit better then that chump.Zman keeps the revolving door on full speed.
Hoping his next move is to callup Shaun Anderson to pitch Wednesday, time to revamp this starting 5 staff. And you easily add him on the 25 by dumping whiney bitch “Dutch you aint no treat Holland”
Bozo, this is the necessary churn to sift through the turds to find the chocolate chips.
Not a whole lot of sifting was needed to see that Kratz wasn’t even a butterscotch chip. Sadly, he’ll probably wind up back on roster at some point.
Yes, no chips in that turd. Just a comment of the overarching strategy of what Farhan os doing. And that is a lot of sifting through the farm and the major league team.
Posey’s hip condition is probably a legacy of the broken leg, because of the way his leg was twisted so gruesomely in that injury. The surgery this past year surely helped, but…..how much did it help? Probably not as much as hoped.
Where this may be heading for Posey is a real sharing of time at catcher with somebody else, at maybe a 50/50 sharing time. Posey ain’t going to like it, but at some point the organization is probably going to have to have that conversation with him, unless he makes dramatic improvement in his hitting.
