Looking Northward
It’s nice to know that we can still run out our ace, our rock, our legend and still keep the loss deferential to less than 3 runs. I hope Z doesn’t lead with that fact when he opens up trade negotiations for Bum….
Anyway, screw the Giants. We have bigger birds to bake, my friends. Tonight we’re serving up some northern Raptor. There should be plenty to go around, see you at Casa de Flavor for dessert and a toast to true greatness…..
I always thought a raptor was a snake.
It’s amazing what you can learn here sometimes…
Go Warriors, I guess.
After a lukewarm streak Panik’s settling in at .251/.333/.363 for a .696 OPS which is right around his career numbers. Does his plateau get any value in return at the deadline? Which club needs a slap hitting second baseman?
Beede going. humm baby
2B Joe Panik L
C Stephen Vogt L
1B P. Sandoval S
LF Brandon Belt L
3B E. Longoria R
SS B. Crawford L
CF Kevin Pillar R
RF M. Yastrzemski L
P Tyler Beede R
Putting Belt in LF makes less sense than ever in a season gone down the toilet…
Yep. Sandoval probably plays LF the same if not better and doesn’t have the lingering knee issue (that we know of)
9 days off much needed for the Warriors, sure they might come out allitle rusty and the Raptors will be jacked up at the start, but the Dubs will settle in and sock it to them..
Rumor has it Cousins is ready to go and may start, good news!
The video of him limping around at practice was not encouraging..
Dirt’s right about Panik. At leadoff he is hitting .293/.372/424 for .796 OPS. Bpmb Monday near miss Sunday.
Over all in May .299/.386/.448 .834 OPS one of all too few bright spots in month riddled with ugly losses.
Z can dump off whomever of position players and give back salary money if need be, but it’s unlikely to bring back more than couple years away prospects. Might have better luck with Bum Smith Watson as there are contender with injuries and underperformers in rotation and pens
. Meanwhile, losing will continue. Yes Giants mgmt. should be honest about this—winning games has never been Z’s priority and it won’t through at least 2020. You can’t blame fans for not showing up, or others (like me) who just aren’t interested enough to watch.
I expect everyone with even the hint of value to be moved with Crawford and Posey remaining because nobody wants them
given state of C position in general, I think Posey could be traded as long as Giants give some salary relief. He’s hit HRs to CF in opposing parks this season and is still good defensively. Braves brought back Brian McCann and are paying Josh Donaldson $20 mil I think.
This is going to be a long wait till tip off
Going to be? It has been 9.5 days. . .
Yeah it would be better if we didn’t see the Giants for 9.5 days.
Hah! Gold.
Ahhh, man . . .
“It is with heavy hearts we announce that early this morning, May 30th 2019, Leon Redbone crossed the delta for that beautiful shore at the age of 127,” reads Redbone’s obituary.
He was 69, but he even leaves ’em laughing on his way out. RIP.
So first time through LU, Beede is only guy with a base hit. And of course himself gave up rbi 2 out single to opposing pitcher. Maybe you guys are right and Bochy should just be put out of misery. Kinda like pulling goalie in hockey–even if he’s given up soft goal or two, it’s a message to those in front of him that it’s your fault. Same goes here—you clowns have gotten guy with most success in giants history fired with your poor play.
I certainly wouldn’t look at it as a *firing*. And I do get his desire to finish something he’s started, not quit, etc. I just think this is completely beneath him. “For who? for what?” comes to mind. And there’s no downside in seeing if BamBam can do anything at all as a 3 month manager.
Bochy prizes loyalty and as long as the WS legacy guys are on the roster he won’t walk away. If Posey, Bumgarner, Crawford, Belt and Sandoval are moved he hangs em up imo.
um OK. As a HS coach I’ve heard the dreaded “we’re going in a different direction” line few times, even from someone who told me “You know the game” but didn’t want me around any more. That’s what I see here–no reason for bochy to be around; he can’t win with what Z has given him to work with and that isn’t gonna change for the better either.
Yeah, if they keep playing this badly, I see Bochy just saying “Adios, motherfuckers” and getting on his boat.
Some sort of ‘mutual agreement’ thing.
Bummie is definitely gone, so the impetus for Boch to stick is waning with every desultory loss.
Pillar caught stealing. Does that impact FWAR or it only increases?
trying is the same as doing. Another 1.0 in the bank.
Bochy’s exasperated looks on postgame interviews are getting stale now too.Really their’s nothing for him to say anymore, he might as well talk about his favorite pizza 🍕 at Amici’s are his latest wine 🍷 favorites…
Yaz clutch hit to tie it up..
Ballsy play by Craw to take third on the flyout.
fun fact(s): Baggs on cbssite said that Craw’s double was “his first hit on a 95+ pitch this seaon.”
2 batters later, Yaz hits rbi single to RF off fastball at 98.
Solid outing for Beede. Maybe he can build on it.
Cool . . . Dray for the win!
Craw!
Craw delivers!
Bummer it ended up a ground rule double are Longo scores as well..
Watson damn near blew another one.
Giants win!
I’d copy Clint, but I’d have to go way back in the archives to find the last win . . .
Dang it, I missed a Giants win and an afternoon East Coast game at that, shoot. Been a rough couple of mornings for me, so I’m going to celebrate this win like it really means something,
What’s up u ok?
I’m ok, just fried. I’m a member of our VFD and yesterday we had a call at 6AM for a motorcycle accident about 5 miles from us. We were the first ones on scene and the dude was DOA. He must have been going at a pretty good clip before he hit that guardrail,
This morning at 2AM get a call for assistance with a structure fire in the town of Manns Harbor, about 15 miles from us. Our crew and crews from Manns Harbor, Roanoke Island and Nags Head were on scene. Manns Harbor has very few hydrants and no waterways were close by to draft from, so we all were shuttling water from a hydrant about a mile away in our trucks to a main truck that was fighting the fire. This was until 5AM. I wanted to get some yard work in before it hit the 90s here, so I only was able to get a couple of hours sleep in and sure enough, while I was mowing at around 11AM, a local call comes in for an 80 year old man that had fallen and was in need of assistance, he seemed to be doing pretty good by the time the EMTs got there so that was a good thing.
Thanks for asking, Flav, but I’m just a bit crispy here is all.
thanks for the update. Hang in there.
You got weather heading your way?
Nah I’m thinking Bozo was on a couple day drinking binge.Weather is like 83 in the Outer Banks region..
I was pounding down a beer at 5AM this morning, that’s for sure, Kat. I’m pretty sure we’ve been into the 90s the last few days.
Anyone agree with me that maybe a reason Bochy wants to ride this to the bitter end is just in case a mid-season replacement tryout of BamBam or someone else really perks up the team and they perform way better sans Bochy. Would not be a good look for him as he sails off to the yellowtail grounds off San Diego…
No.
Late-arriving!

Long time no see.
I don’t think Bochy gives a good God Damn if he splits and the team rebounds. I don’t think he gives a shit about his record or any of that. His career is cemented in stone as a Hall of Fame manager and that is all that matters.
I don’t think he takes the front office gig either. When he leaves, he leaves for good.
The only thing I could see is him getting a one-day gig as manager of the Padres next year for his send-off.
I think he takes the Padres gig full time next year…
Shit, DJ you made me look up the Raptor mascot. Wasn’t sure if they were referring to a bird or a dino . . .
one of my kids played on a LL team named after the Ogden Raptors. Dinosaur on the hat, iirc.
I think this song perfectly describes the relationship between Bochy and Giants management…
Great pull Loo! Gold!
Neither one of us wants to say goodbye 👋
Damm those fros are classic, they just need their cookie cutter hair weapon to complete their outfits..
Thanks, Kat. I was pretty jealous of those little pitchforks buried inside a giant fro.
The lyrics of this song really tell the story of what’s goin’ on – I think…
I can’t see anything happening with Bochy and the Padres. The Pads let him go once and that relationship feels like ancient history down here.
Kills me there is so much focus on his status with the Giants. Him leaving early wouldn’t make a damn bit of difference. He’s gonna ride this thing out as he should.
Agree Dog,
Boch will play it out, He’s the last of a dying breed type manager and what the most tenured now in years consecutively?
Those type never walk away, Boch has too much pride and really he has more pride then his players at this point which is sad 😞
My only point about Boch is his disgust with the team they gave him, Hence his early exit. I don’t think they fire him unless there’s one of those ‘mutual agreement’ things.
Dubs getting drubbed. Saikam wasn’t even really on my radar. He’s killing the Warriors. Leonard is not doing much.
Getting outplayed on both sides of the court. Slow on defense and sloppy on offense.
The only reason I think Boch should retire at the break is because everyone already knows he’s not coming back next season; there will be a new manager and most likely a new approach. If he stays until the end of the year, it just delays beginning the new *era*. Playing out the string is pointless, even though Dawg, you are right that changing managers mid-stream this year isn’t going to make a difference performance-wise this year. Of course he won’t be fired, this would have to be a mutually agreed upon move. Stupid for the team to not get it started ASAP. Boch will retire a baseball god. Get on with it.
Nobody remembers or cares about a manager’s career W-L record.
They only care about titles and monumental collapses…
It was hard to get into that basketball game. It was a pretty bleh game. Both teams seemed pretty rusty. Maybe things will pick up from here.
The narrative that the Warriors are OK without Durant kind of died.
Huge blunder from the Fresno Grizzlies. They ran a YouTube video at a game that was some schlocky musical tribute to Memorial Day, but didn’t realize (they say) that the end of the video has a collection of photos of “enemies of America” world leaders, which includes a photo of Alexandra Orozco-Cortez. Several sponsors of the team were livid and dropped their sponsorship of the team. The team made a big public apology. I would have been furious seeing it. I wonder if I would have marched to a team office demanding to see an exec so I could complain. I’d like to think I would have.
To complain about the video, I mean.
The apology, I appreciate.
Speaking of awkward moments, the ending of The Wizard of Oz was kind of awkward.
MLB set a record this month for most HRs in a single month in the history of MLB.
MLB has no problem with the juiced ball messing with the integrity and history of the game.
And attendance is falling like a rock.
