When A Win Feels Like Nothing

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on May 31, 2019

I didn’t watch the game but I saw the final score. 3-1. I stared at it, scoped the box score a bit. Looking at it was boring. Some dinky hits and 12 walks. Pffftttt. The Giants remind me of the Dubs from like the 80’s till We Believe years. Or the Giants in the early 80s. Completely irrelevant. When an equally irrelevant team is your opponent and nobody is at the game I wonder what it’s like for the players. It can’t be like Giants games from the early 80’s. All the guys today are getting paid, that’s gotta ease some of the pain.

I shouldn’t complain about a win, but in yet another *down the drain* season it just doesn’t do much for me.

Well that was everything about what I feared about the matchups against the Raptors without KD. This Raptors team is so much better than any of those 4 Cavs teams. Warriors did not play well offensively on top of that and the Raptors dictated the offensive pace, which the Dubs hallmark!! Is game 2 a must win??? If we dont have KD back by Game 3 then Game 2 is a must…

How about that Robin Lopez Gasol???

    • Flavor said, on May 31, 2019 at 7:07 am

Lol that’s the wrong Lopez. Brook is the 3 point shooter for milw, Robin plays for the bulls

      • gianthead said, on May 31, 2019 at 6:00 pm

That was part of my joke…should have thrown Pau in there…

Well, it sure meant something to Beede who went 6 good innings, his best ML outing ever. Sure the Marlins are actually worse hitting team than Giants, but nice for him to salvage W. Giants are going to need all the pitching they can get. Yaz kid got first rbi too; best look out of all the Sacto hitters so far.

Hey Raps did what they had to do–front court outscored Warriors backcourt they attacked rim and made some hero tough shots. didn’t see first half but at halftime GS radio guy Tim Roye lamented fact Toronto closed first half with big run, 12-4 during which they hit 7 straight shots. Warriors never had a spurt like that and didn’t get closer than 4 in second half, as vaunted scoring punch didn’t show. Curious move by Kerr to start Bell over Looney.

    • Flavor said, on May 31, 2019 at 7:33 am

he’s still walking too many guys and as you said the Marlins are terrible. He’s a #5, at best and probably much worse than that.

  3. alleykat69 said, on May 31, 2019 at 7:53 am

Yeah problem with the Giants their SP are all #5 are worse except Bum.But with more experience logged by Anderson,Beede,Rodriguez maybe Suarez their could be improvement going forward..

  4. djloo27 said, on May 31, 2019 at 7:53 am

I read this morning that Giants (paid) attendance is off by about 6,600 per game.
    That’s huge, isn’t it?

    • willedav said, on May 31, 2019 at 8:21 am

yeah saw that and you’re right it is big. Interesting that teams with worst drop off in attendance all suck–Jays Tigers O’s Giants. And as you can tell from occasional crowd shots, paid announced # and real attendance at Snoracle are way different. Must drive Baer crazy but until they get better, which could be years out, don’t see how it changes.

  5. unca_chuck said, on May 31, 2019 at 8:01 am

Must win? Hardly. If the Raptors win at home, we just need to do the same.

    • gianthead said, on May 31, 2019 at 6:04 pm

My question Is it must win if KD is not ready to play by Game 3???? If they are down 0-2 and no KD, I could see another loss and 0-3 then likely no way to come back even with KD…

  6. unca_chuck said, on May 31, 2019 at 8:12 am

Their job is to take one on the road. There’s still time.

  7. unca_chuck said, on May 31, 2019 at 8:17 am

If Yaz is the naz out of Sac then we are really in for a tough stretch. Do we even look for a LITTLE power for our draftees?

  8. alleykat69 said, on May 31, 2019 at 8:46 am

I think the Dubs get that gm 2 win, they shake off their Neil Young “Rust never Sleeps “ and show the Raptors that true title champions won’t lie down.
Rumor has it Durant could be ready for gm 3 but more likely gm 4..

  9. dirtnrocksnomo said, on May 31, 2019 at 10:30 am

Beede’s posted a decent WHIP in the PC and seeing if he can carry over the improvements he’s made in Sac this year was of interest to me despite the competition. With Bumgarner’s impending departure Anderson,Beede,Rodriguez and Samardzija are going to be the rotation going forward and seeing if the starters can right the ship is also of interest. With 2 ER in each of his last 3 starts I guess Pomeranze is still in the mix. Maybe if he can get through 4 innings with less than 90 pitches today.

  10. alleykat69 said, on May 31, 2019 at 11:11 am

Pomegranate is such a head case for a vet, he adds little value because of his erratic pitching, he is just to inconsistent for me to watch..

  11. Macdog said, on May 31, 2019 at 11:32 am

Baltimore this weekend. I went to Camden Yards the last time Giants played there in ’04, but won’t be making the trip this time. Kinda bummed, it’s a great place to see a game no matter how bad both teams are.

    • Flavor said, on May 31, 2019 at 12:37 pm

Baltimore with its terrible pitching staff in that hitters park will be a great test to see just how bad our hitters are

  12. alleykat69 said, on May 31, 2019 at 12:53 pm

2 teams that suck, but Orioles suck more and only 7-21 at home, with the Giants enormous 1 game winning streak going in, I’m predicting 2 out of 3 as long as Pomegranate doesn’t pitch!
Camden Yards along With Pittsburgh’s PNC are probably my favorites, both runner up to Snoracle park of course…

  13. alleykat69 said, on May 31, 2019 at 1:10 pm

    Shit Pomegranate is freakin starting!
Well we can still take the last 2 sigh 😔

  14. Bozo said, on May 31, 2019 at 2:19 pm

Only been to Camden once and it was when they weren’t playing. They had a small area out by the statues that they were letting people into to check out the park, looked like a pretty cool stadium to me. We had brews and snacks at the pub in the warehouse walkway area. I wouldn’t mind going up again, this time for a game.

  15. unca_chuck said, on May 31, 2019 at 3:42 pm

Same thing with Petco in SD. Looks great but haven’t seen a game there.

  16. unca_chuck said, on May 31, 2019 at 3:46 pm

    SAw his last start unfortunately.

    1B Brandon Belt L
    DH P. Sandoval S
    3B E. Longoria R

  18. dirtnrocksnomo said, on May 31, 2019 at 4:18 pm

Yastrzemski with a run scoring triple and the Giants score in the 1st. Nice to see someone at least trying to grab the wide open outfield opportunity.

  19. gianthead said, on May 31, 2019 at 4:25 pm

3 runs first inning a record this year for the Gigantes???

  20. Macdog said, on May 31, 2019 at 4:29 pm

A 5-spot! Wonder if this is the first time Giants have batted around this year.

  21. xoot said, on May 31, 2019 at 4:29 pm

holy shit, the Orioles appear to be worse than the Giants. It’s early, though.

    • dirtnrocksnomo said, on May 31, 2019 at 4:30 pm

exactly what I was thinking. Hopefully Pomeranze avoids a 40+ pitch 1st

      • xoot said, on May 31, 2019 at 4:40 pm

uh oh, the Giants are doing their best to be the worst now

      • Macdog said, on May 31, 2019 at 4:50 pm

        Annnnnd he can’t.

  22. snarkk said, on May 31, 2019 at 4:31 pm

When I lived back in the DC area in the 90’s, Mrs. snarkk and I took the train out of Union Station direct to Baltimore and last station exited right at Camden Yards. EZ transport. Saw A’s v. O’s. Great park to watch a game…

    • gianthead said, on May 31, 2019 at 4:42 pm

Fantastic stadium…did not feel like paying hard cash to take the kids to see this mess…

  23. gianthead said, on May 31, 2019 at 4:41 pm

And we giveth away…battle of the worst teams of the decade!!!

  24. xoot said, on May 31, 2019 at 4:49 pm

    holy shit! indeed

  25. Flavor said, on May 31, 2019 at 4:49 pm

    lol

  26. Flavor said, on May 31, 2019 at 4:50 pm

on KNBR, just before the game started, Miller was saying that Bochy had recently said that Pomeranz’ stuff has been *fantastic* and it’s just been location that’s been the problem. Bochy may be going a little crazy.

  27. Bozo said, on May 31, 2019 at 4:51 pm

Way to give up a 5 run lead.

  28. Macdog said, on May 31, 2019 at 4:52 pm

Pomeranz is a Tomato Can Opener.

  29. Flavor said, on May 31, 2019 at 4:52 pm

90 pitches thrown between these two dunderheads in 1 inning. I’m sure that isn’t a record, fucking Peabody McGillicutty and Preacher Johnson probably did some shit like that back in 1900 but that has to be a recent record of some sort……

  30. Bozo said, on May 31, 2019 at 4:53 pm

    Yaz ties it up.

  31. Macdog said, on May 31, 2019 at 4:56 pm

    Yazman!

  32. gianthead said, on May 31, 2019 at 4:57 pm

Please vote — Watching this game I either want to:

    A) Jump off a bridge;
    B) Shoot my dog; or
    C) Take a bow of abstinence

    • gianthead said, on May 31, 2019 at 4:57 pm

      Vow

    • Bozo said, on May 31, 2019 at 5:15 pm

Fuck the dog first, and the other 3 will follow.

      • djloo27 said, on May 31, 2019 at 5:28 pm

        Very well thought out, Bozo!

      • gianthead said, on May 31, 2019 at 5:32 pm

Was not an answer I was expecting…

  33. djloo27 said, on May 31, 2019 at 5:25 pm

Giants once again fail to give Pomeranz the run support he needs…

  34. gianthead said, on May 31, 2019 at 5:30 pm

Anyone have a sense of the MLB draft. Surprised we are picking 10th. Does not seem any true locks as hitters among the potential draft picks around 10. This one web site has the Giants taking a WV starter Monoa. A big boy at 6’6″ and 260 lbs…bubba!!!

Given we need hitting but our starting pitching pipeline is also very thin with most of our previous year top pitching picks have not planned out. If Monoa is there may be be the least risky pick…thoughts or any intel???

    • xoot said, on May 31, 2019 at 5:36 pm

couple threads back: Bryson Stott SS UNLV is the SF pick-ten front-runner for some of the writers covering the draft

      • gianthead said, on May 31, 2019 at 5:54 pm

He seems most mlb ready but also a lefty hitter…there is a speedy SS further down from UNC Wilm I believe.

      • gianthead said, on May 31, 2019 at 5:55 pm

And he is a righty but may project as a future CF…

      • xoot said, on May 31, 2019 at 5:58 pm

Stott also could move to CF, some say. After triples alley et al gets filled with the pens LH power will do better at China Basin

  35. Macdog said, on May 31, 2019 at 7:16 pm

    Time to hit the . . .

  36. Bozo said, on May 31, 2019 at 7:19 pm

So much for our winning streak.

  38. zumiee said, on May 31, 2019 at 8:28 pm

MLB set a record this month for most HRs in a single month in the history of MLB.
MLB has no problem with the juiced ball messing with the integrity and history of the game.

    • xoot said, on May 31, 2019 at 8:59 pm

      1,134?

    • alleykat69 said, on May 31, 2019 at 9:02 pm

Guess the Giants missed the memo on juiced balls..

    • xoot said, on May 31, 2019 at 9:08 pm

yeah, I think the Giants had 27 of those 1,134

  39. snarkk said, on May 31, 2019 at 10:56 pm

    Pomerantz — I’m thinkin’ he’s not a keeper…

  40. mrsprtdude said, on June 1, 2019 at 12:28 am

man Giants suck…… Crazy how fast people are jumping off the Dubs bandwagon. Anyone remember how the Raptors started the east finals?

  41. unca_chuck said, on June 1, 2019 at 9:14 am

The Warriors were rusty. And they may lose tomorrow and it won’t be the end of the world. They would just have to take game 5 in Toronto.

That being said I think they take the game.
