Drafting Sticks
Michael Holmes, Director of Amateur Scouting, said this about drafting Logan Wyatt with the second round pick: “Having too many bats is never really an issue.”
BahahahahaAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!! Holmes is also Director of Amateur Comedy, too.
Well, the did take two left handed bats with their first 2 picks so I think that is an obvious tell that the fences are coming in—certainly by the time those 2 studs make it to the bigs……
Ok, it is CONTEST TIME! For today’s game, just pick the Giant you think will homer first—forget the inning—-caveat: because there’s only one gift card to win we will need a tie breaker: Guess the total number of hits allowed and strikeouts between Bum and Thor.
So your guess will look like this: “Kevin Pillar and 22” with Kevin Pillar being the main guess and 22 being the tie breaker should all of you pick Pillar as your first hitter to bomb (a solid pick BTW).
Congrats to Stanford, easily disposing of Fresno State last night and moving onward to more interesting challenges.
Logan? Yeah, taking a leadoff type of hitter who plays 1B is something of a new concept I guess, think Brandon Belt without the Ks or HRs.
I don’t usually get into the trade scenarios, but I have one that just has to work. I read where the Pirates were looking for some middle relief. I say we trade Tony Watson for Oneil Cruz. Cruz is currently a SS who has a lot of raw power and speed, he could also play the OF or 3rd. The Pirates got him from the Dodgers in the, get this, Tony Watson trade (see full circle, sort of) and plus he hits left handed, Zaidi has to love this guy.
Contest – Panik will hit the 1st HR, total Hs and Ks, 26.
Logan looks beefy…no?
Phillies also potentially looking for OF help with McCutch hurt. Package Bum and Pillar? They have a lot of prospects…another OF would suit the bill and would Phillies added their 3b Franco, who is struggling this year but may be worth adding his potential bat and cheap contract. Could they be suckered into adding the vet Longoria into the deal???
Belt 26
Baseball might be Pac 12s best sport. I think one of their teams (UCLA maybe) is in Softball WS finals and a game up too.
Stanford was as high as #3 and still didn’t win the league (UCLA men) and got funky draw. Not usually on their side but as Jose St guy anyone who beats Fresno is cool.
Hope the ASU kid helps Z make his bones. Natives are little restless, especially for OF help. If he’s a good enough hitter, being LH won’t be a detriment.
Hallelujah on any shade at Fresno State also from another Spartan alum…
Yaz 25
Eeeeeverbody’s a comedian these days.
Longoria, 21 hits/SO
Pillar would be interesting long shot pick.
April he hit 5 bombs, all interestingly enough, at Snoracle.
HIs last bomb (and only one of May), 22 games ago was his only one on road, May 7 in Colorado.
22 games? Shit Posey could smoke that without even breaking a sweat. How many games did he go from last year to this year without hitting one? It was a few months worth of games, right?
Pillar May stats: 22 for 98 scored 10 runs 5 doubles 1 HR 6 rbis.
BA .224/.260/.306. for .566 OPS.
I think Kruk’s line if he was in town in the Apple would be, “He’s due.”
I still don’t fathom taking 2 LH hitters in the first two rounds. They better bring those fences in, a lot.
Mays, 28…
Posey 15
Bumgarner / 31
Belt 25 . . . And yes the fences are coming in, and the bullpens are going away.
Think Williamson gets to use the shovel 1st on the bullpens??
Think would be Belt…he has probably been the most affected but I am still opposed to the concept…
More likely a stick of dynamite.
Sean Casey was jizzing all over himself on the Logan Wyatt pick, saying he has great eye coordination/ discipline at the plate (geez sounds like a Belt clone) with the ability to use all fields with power..Zman looks for that in his selections to reach base and the versatility to play multiple positions which both Bishop&Wyatt can do..
Hey if Wyatt could muster up a career like Casey are better yet a Mark Grace I would be thrilled, those 2 knew how to consistently hit! This stat on Grace was incredible to me…Career 1,042 Walks 642 K’s that’s a guy that constantly put the ball in play never giving in to a pitcher..
Stanford 9, Fresno St. 7. I doubt that the Stanford team considered it an easy win.
Fresno St. pitcher R Jensen was taken in first round #27 by Cubs.
But enough about Fresno already.
Another W in the bank for the boys on The Farm
Crawford and 20.
No current Giant has hit a HR off Syndergaard. There’s a first time for everything:
Craw stays hot, 24.
The Giants second pick yesterday was Logan Wyatt out of Louisville. As bozo mentions he takes walks – posted a .490 OBP in 2018 and a .481 OBP this season. Not sure if that is a reflection on the level of college pitching or a tremendous eye at the plate. No word on his Do Some Damage stats but I’m guessing SabEvans wouldn’t even look twice at the kid.
I like both these picks, Eric Brynes&Sean Casey were both jizzing over themselves.Brynes knows Hunter Bishop as a kid and says he’s dedicated and is a beast who will only get better with coaching and has the wow swing on contact!
Casey says Wyatt is a lot like himself, very disciplined hitter, hits to all fields, power, maybe not near Bishop’s but who knows when coached up as well?
If he can have a career like Casey’s are even better let’s say Mark Grace the Giants would be doing the told you so nod..
Amazing stat on Mark Grace ,Career 1,042 Walks only 642 K’s in over 8,000 plate appearances, the dude put the ball in play always..
Little different from how game is played today maybe, but it was fun to watch Stros sweep A’s 6-4 in 12 Sunday. A’s hit 4 bombs, all solo. they had 2 walks/15 Ks in 12 inning loss.
stros on other hand had 11 hits, 9 singles 2 doubles 0 HRs. But they had 6 walks and only 4 Ks and took advantage of costly A’s error. Plus speedy 9th hitter rookie kid OF up for weekend Myles Straw went 3 for 4 stole 3/scored 3. He scored from second on infield out when Semien threw ball away at 1b and later started game winning rally with single/SB and scored ahead of base hit from Brantley.
Still a place for this if you can get on base.
Going for 3 straight lineup:
2B Panik
LF Yaz
3B Longoria
1B Belt
C Vogt
RF Pillar
SS Craw
CF Duggar
LHP Bum
WTF Posey not starting??
I’m changing my prediction..
Duggar and 18
Posey’s got a hammy, Kat.
I hope our 3rd round pick, Grant McCray, doesn’t try to out do his dad. If he does I hope he holds unto the ball.
Wow Bozo, that’s better then Bump Bailey in the “The Natural” of course he died though,so hope that doesn’t happen to are pick..
Pillar, 22
Bochy going for win 1,000 as G’s manager.
Cutch out for the year with a torn ACL. Wow–I was watching that live too. Grabbed his knee and went down scrambling back to first, but I didn’t see this coming.
Pillar to the Phillies for prospects. Who did they draft?
They bagged that SS Bryson Stott, yeah make that trade somehow.Kid is a great replacement for Crawdaddy for the future..
A new reason for a robot HP umpire…
My vote would be the Jetsons robot maid Rosie!!
She might be partial to the Astros.
So Vogt goes out to Bum and says give him the #1 meat, and Vogt tells the batter look for the heater down broadway..
We all love Bum, but get the trade done. He would benefit from getting onto a contender, and having a change of scenery.
These Bumgarner starts for the Giants are just pointless.
I don’t get the timing of yanking Thor and clearly neither does he…
Cause any backup manager is useless, never let them think 🤔 strategy..
He lost his hammer.
Slowgo.
Lulz to your 5:50, Mac…
If this were a contending team, sending Vogt with a strikeout-prone Craw at bat would be really dumb, but in a lost season like this, who cares.
Bochy on a Stick”
They should make a food item at Snoracle for him!
I agree with point above that further Bum starts for the Gyros are pointless. He can get hit by a batted or pitched ball, get elbow tendinitis or whatever, and he’s untradeable…
Sure you want this head case?
https://nypost.com/2019/06/04/clint-frazier-finally-opens-up-the-most-difficult-night-of-my-career/
Yeah, not a real big supporter of spoiled 24 year olds with baseball talent suited up and playing in Yankee Flippin’ Stadium, for crissakes, and playing the victim. Boo fucking hoo. Hey maybe the Gints could hook him up with Zito to right his mind….
Melanhead’s about due to give up a dinger isn’t he? …
A scary long foul ball, but he survived.
Vogt bolt !!
Duggar!!
A veritable cornucopia of runs!!!!…
Panda roped that 2 run double!
Best I’ve ever seen him hit RH!!
Ole!
Could the Mets suck more than the Giants? Tonight, seems Yes !!! …
Yes the wheels have completely come off for the Mets bullpen 🏎
Met announcer Gary Cohen referred to Austin’s second AB in the 10th as a “zombie AB”.
He led off the inning as a PH. Since they batted around he was no longer a PH for his second AB but had no designated defensive position. So how does BR record that in its batting by position stats?
Come on Stroopwafels, hold that 6 run lead.
Put it in the books!
1,000 wins for ”Bochy on a Stick”
Congrats Skipper..🎊🎉🍾🎈 🍷🍻🍺🥃
Game Ball ⚾️ Bochy!!
I owe ya a beer, Kat.
1,000 for Bochy.
1,000th Giants win for Bochy. Cheers.
Bochy hasn’t been the same since he started wearing that hideous looking pajama top thing in the dugout a few years ago. Does he even have a uniform number anymore?
Lol 😂Loo, yeah that’s his man dress top..
Mets radio announcer Howie Rose was talking up Melonhead big-time, hope the Mets GM was listening.
They’ll never take on his contract, Mac.
No one would…
I can dream.
Callaway probably hanging by a thread after latest blunder which he admitted in postgame.
Bart was back in the SJ lineup today and hit an HR.
Back to Bart Watch !
Meanwhile, Glass Posey is out a few games with a “mild” hammy strain, but not onto IL. Again, roster is down a player for several games. If Klay were as fragile as Posey, Klay woiuld rarely take the damn court. I would trade Posey tomorrow if anybody would take the guy, and for a bag o’ balls. He’s near useless for this kind of team with a Pen about ready to be traded off, and musical position players. Giving Aramis Garcia a chance to play would be more productive…
