Sunday

Can’t remember a Sunday game vs the Dodgers with Bum pitching where we weren’t on ESPN. A good reminder of how inconsequential the Giants have become. We’re 17 games out of first place, I guess that’s the reason.

Let’s do the contest! Pick the first Giant to homer (hahahahaha) and the tie breaker is total hits and strikeouts for Bueler and Bum.

I’ll go with Pillar and 17.

GH looks like it’s you and me heads up for the gift card!
What can we realistically expect out of Durant with but a single practice under his belt? This guy hasn’t played basketball or done any cardio in a month. And we’re supposed to expect he’s going to be productive? I’m not seeing it.

Giants picked bust and reported 2X positive test loser Phil Bickford 6 spots ahead of the Doghairs picking today’s starter Buehler in the 2015 first round. Nice scouting by the Giants on that one. At least they offloaded Phil (and Susac) for Will Smith, so Bickford was useful for that…

    • willedav said, on June 9, 2019 at 1:24 pm

yeah dumb AB. I’ve seen him other times unable to lay off high fastball that wasn’t a strike.
Jeez another ball to the wall, nice grab from Pillar.

  14. snarkk said, on June 9, 2019 at 1:19 pm

I didn’t see if Muncy did much other than watch the long tater, but whatever it was, Bum got PO’d as usual. Maybe he should focus on not throwing belt high FBs over the plate instead of more post-dinger red-assery….

    • Flavor said, on June 9, 2019 at 1:26 pm

Bum getting irate about a guy pimping a home run has gotten beyond tired. Pitch better.

  15. willedav said, on June 9, 2019 at 1:21 pm

everything else was96-98. Only breaking ball was slider to longo. Kuiper is right, if Yaz had moved Panik over Longo’s ball would have tied game up.

  16. zumiee said, on June 9, 2019 at 1:28 pm

Bum couldn’t be more ready for a change of scenery.

  17. Flavor said, on June 9, 2019 at 1:28 pm

by the way, he didn’t really pimp the hr. He walked a couple of steps out of the box admiring it. Shit it was a blast, I would have taken out my phone and tried to snap a picture if I was Muncy

Bum’s held them to 1 run on 4 hits 0 BBs 3 Ks in 5 innings. No illusions, realize it’s gonna take a while for Giants to add in enough bats to score more often. Meanwhile, in order to stay in games with Dodgers and everyone else, pitching from SPs (and beyond) has to be good.
He’s kept them in game after Muncy bomb second guy up.

  22. willedav said, on June 9, 2019 at 2:30 pm

Not counting Buehler Dodgers hitters are 4 for 18 vs. bum 3 singles 1 solo HR. Guarantee this is being scouted and noted by any team thinking they might face LA in playoffs.

    • Flavor said, on June 9, 2019 at 2:36 pm

there a lots of scouts at this game, Lurie noted that in the pre game radio show.

      • willedav said, on June 9, 2019 at 2:42 pm

7 solid held them to 1 run, good outing. Btw Muncy Pederson Seager Bellinger be nice for any team facing LA to have Smith too. He wiped them out in that first game for save.

  23. Macdog said, on June 9, 2019 at 2:31 pm

Giants finally have a threat going and they’re showing Amy G and bobbleheads. Stay with the damn game!

  24. Flavor said, on June 9, 2019 at 2:35 pm

if we keep going homerless we might need new parameters for the contest—like first guy to hit the ball out of the infield, something like that…

    • snarkk said, on June 9, 2019 at 2:43 pm

First Giant to two Ks in the game?…

  25. snarkk said, on June 9, 2019 at 2:40 pm

I just saw the replay of Muncy’s dinger from a different angle. He didn’t do much at all. Watched it for a second or two, tops, then starting jogging to first. I agree with BF, hell if I hit one that far into the Cove, I’d had watched it even longer. Bum is an idiot on this stuff…

  26. willedav said, on June 9, 2019 at 2:43 pm

Wasn’t someone from here going today? iirc something posted re: Bum’s final outing in Giants uniform at home?

    • willedav said, on June 9, 2019 at 2:44 pm

      Dirt maybe?

  27. snarkk said, on June 9, 2019 at 2:46 pm

This SHOULD be Bum’s final Giant’s outing.
Bochy should pull him after this 6th, don’t go to 7th. He’s held a hit happy Doghair team to one run over 6, he’s looked strong. Nothing more to prove to other teams. Nothing. Don’t risk injury. Auction starts in earnest now to the highest bidder and get it done…

  28. djloo27 said, on June 9, 2019 at 2:51 pm

Still over 7 weeks to the deadline.
Wouldn’t they have to be blown away to move so soon?

  29. Flavor said, on June 9, 2019 at 2:52 pm

What was the point in pulling bum at 86 pitches?

    • snarkk said, on June 9, 2019 at 3:00 pm

Bum could just as easily pull or tear an oblique swinging for the fences given he knows his squad can barely score, as hurt his arm pitching in the next few starts before getting traded…

    • alleykat69 said, on June 9, 2019 at 3:05 pm

He was pulled with 81 pitches recently on the road and wasn’t to thrilled about it..

  30. willedav said, on June 9, 2019 at 2:54 pm

Pavs tweet said last 2 starts vs. LA bum has worked 13 innings given up 2 runs on 8 hits with 13 Ks.

  31. snarkk said, on June 9, 2019 at 2:57 pm

That’s 7 weeks of potential injury, pitching for a hapless, hopeless team. There’s no more August waivers trade period, so the July 31 deadline means a ton now. Kuichel and Kimbrel were the only top FA hurlers out there, they just got signed after the draft, Bum has to be one of the top pitchers on the block. More Bum starts for SF makes no sense to me. A fine, home start against LA to end his SF run seems a good way to go…

  32. zumiee said, on June 9, 2019 at 3:01 pm

Bum has gotten his stock value back up.

  39. zumiee said, on June 9, 2019 at 3:16 pm

They shift on Panik and he just pounds it into the shift. I don’t get that.

    • snarkk said, on June 9, 2019 at 3:21 pm

Me neither. Panik is no HR hitter. He should just bunt and bunt for hits and hits until they move out of the shift. He should be a bunt machine. Get his average up over .300…

  40. willedav said, on June 9, 2019 at 3:24 pm

Screw Muncy. Turner is having great series at the plate, don’t get why you run there.

Giants should package Smith and Bum to Boston in a blockbuster.

    • snarkk said, on June 9, 2019 at 4:15 pm

Do it. Tell Boston he’s going to you or Yankees, how bad do you NOT want Bum in the Bronx…

  43. djloo27 said, on June 9, 2019 at 3:32 pm

The name of the Texas Rangers scouting director is Kip Fagg.
    He must’ve had a pleasant childhood…

  44. zumiee said, on June 9, 2019 at 3:39 pm

In 21 ABs vs. Jansen, Craw has struck out 11 times.

    • Macdog said, on June 9, 2019 at 3:46 pm

Not surprising after seeing those lame swings in K #11.

      • zumiee said, on June 9, 2019 at 3:49 pm

His bat is slow these days. Teams just pound the strike zone on him.

    • willedav said, on June 9, 2019 at 3:56 pm

looked up B/R splits and he’s hitting .178 at home, 17/97. this year home #s 2 HRs 0 other XBH. OPS barely over .500 ouch
.4 for 23 so far this month after May of .232/.301/.415.
2 more years after this at $15.2 mil.

  45. djloo27 said, on June 9, 2019 at 3:50 pm

I like Milwaukee as a destination for Bum. No idea what they have to offer.
Will Smith is exactly what the Mets need…

  46. snarkk said, on June 9, 2019 at 3:58 pm

I don’t want to hear any more media crap about Giants needing pitching. The staff allowed just 4 runs in 3 games, yet lost 2 of 3. They need hitters. That’s why ZMan took 9 position players out of the top 10 round picks. And, 25 position players vs. 15 pitchers in the overall 40 rounds. Let those stats sink in compared to the past, when it was pitcher, pitcher, pitcher. Finally, they’ve figured out with a new GM that you need hitting and runs scoring development, because FA hitters do NOT want to come to SF. Pitchers will come here, if you pay them. Criminy, Flemm gave Player of the Game to Lil’Yaz because he hit a long fly ball for an out. That’s the current game MVP qualification — the out would have been an HR in most parks. Now bring in the fences in right center in the off season, and trade this staff pieces for prospects. They are 18 out of first, it might as well be 40. The turn around has started. It’s time to get young and stock the system…

    Bum in Beantown?
Or, Bum in the Brew & Brats.
    Any one works…

  48. djloo27 said, on June 9, 2019 at 4:26 pm

Mwocky’s a vet squad with no lefty starter.
Bum can pitch to old friend Grandal.
Yelich’ll get him 2 RPG just by himself.
Do they have anything good to offer?

    • djloo27 said, on June 9, 2019 at 4:31 pm

Correction: They do have LHP Gio on the 10 day DL…

    • snarkk said, on June 9, 2019 at 4:41 pm

Bum would have to be jazzed to go to a team, any team, in the hunt; where if he pitches 7 full with one earnie given up, he wins the damn game…

  49. alleykat69 said, on June 9, 2019 at 4:29 pm

      • snarkk said, on June 9, 2019 at 4:56 pm

        He might. Draymond style.
Thing is, somebody sometime is going to take him up on the challenge, and he might end up with cracked ribs or a fractured wrist. Let that happen when he’s with the Brewers, not now…

  51. alleykat69 said, on June 9, 2019 at 4:55 pm

And Boch with his usual exasperated drawl when asked about Bart:Were in no hurry to rush him along!
Easy for him to say, he’s not coming back next year, so why should he give a shit?

    • snarkk said, on June 9, 2019 at 5:00 pm

They know once Bart is up, they’ll have to do something with Posey. Like when Posey came up, it was obvious they had to do something with BigTitty. I say give him another month at most at San Jose, then up to Richmond. If he clubs his way through that league the rest of summer, what’s the point of AAA. Just bring him up in September and play him. Screw the Fall League and FA timing crap…

  52. alleykat69 said, on June 9, 2019 at 5:38 pm

Well the Giants sure took their sweet time with Posey when he 1st came up in September call ups, still giving Big Titty’s most of the AB’s in a losing season, which ticked me off about “The Boch Vet Syndrome Approach “ as it took to the trade deadline of 2010 to finally make their decision that Posey was the better option, and yeah no shit Maynard,as he helped take that pitching staff to their 1st of 3 W/S titles.Think Titty’s would of done that? No way!!
