A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Bum Finale vs The Bums

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 20, 2019

When Hill went out early I thought, “hey maybe we have a chance tonight.” Sadly, it was not to be and we’ve now been outscored 18-2 in our last two games. If we keep this up our wild card chances are going to take a serious hit. 🙂

Tonight is the last game we see Bum pitch against these jokers. There are a number of side stories brewing. Would it really be the worst thing if Muncy cranked another one off Bum in his first at bat? I’d be fine with that just to watch the story unfold.

If Bumgarner is ever going to do something other than bark at these guys maybe tonight is the night. I wanna see punches thrown.

Hey, why not?

I think Bum feels like throwing a baseball at a guy from the mound is a punk move and he would rather verbally call guys out and challenge them to square off and throw down like men. And I don’t think there are too many guys out there who want a piece of that action. Because of this, I think a fight is a real longshot when he is on the mound.

    • Flavor said, on June 20, 2019 at 7:48 am

I agree that hitting someone from the mound is a puss move although sometimes it can be called for in retaliation for certain things— having said that, I’m done with his barking. These dudes need to challenge him, he’s not Ali or Tyson. He’s a big country boy who doesn’t ever actually fight. Would I go into a ring with just Bum? Uh no. But if he talked shit to me I’d charge him and see what kind of blows I could land before it descended into chaos.
I just think the shit talking is played out. Let’s see a brawl.

  2. djloo27 said, on June 20, 2019 at 7:51 am

    There won’t be a fight.
    It’s not worth it…

  3. djloo27 said, on June 20, 2019 at 7:54 am

Bumgarner would be an idiot to risk getting injured over nonsense – especially in a meaningless game 4 months before someone hands him $ 200 million.
    Ever hear of Bill Lee?

    • Flavor said, on June 20, 2019 at 7:57 am

Well then he should STFU and stop barking like some toothless bully

      • djloo27 said, on June 20, 2019 at 8:07 am

He just does it to psych himself.
Lord knows his manager and teammates don’t…

      • Flavor said, on June 20, 2019 at 8:13 am

I don’t see it as psyching himself. He’s being a poor sport and while I have no problem with barking at someone I don’t like it when that’s all it is. That’s just wasting everyone’s time

      • sandog said, on June 20, 2019 at 8:44 am

I don’t think its on Bum to stop barking at guys. Its on someone having the balls to charge him.
I’d like to see it too.

      • djloo27 said, on June 20, 2019 at 8:47 am

Like everything else in the world, it’s a business decision.
You don’t risk separating your pitching shoulder by getting in a brawl in your walk year…

      • sandog said, on June 20, 2019 at 8:56 am

If that were true, he’d quit running his mouth. I don’t get the feeling Bum is focused much on long term planning when he is on the mound. I think he would have loved for Muncy to come at him the other night.

      • sandog said, on June 20, 2019 at 9:05 am

I should have said if it were true for Bum. It certainly is a true statement in general.

      • Bozo said, on June 20, 2019 at 9:30 am

I think Bum just wants to have a little fun like Ryan did with Ventura. He thought Puig would be his huckleberry but no, he was just another tin man. Maybe he could pound on Muncy, nope, yet another tin man. Someone has to man up and get the ever loving snot beat out of him like Ventura did.

Loo, today’s lede in the Chronicle:

LOS ANGELES — At least Will Smith is getting much-needed rest.

  5. alleykat69 said, on June 20, 2019 at 8:35 am

If you cant bark at a Dodger who can you bark at?
Im so sick of those smug players they have i just want to puke 🤮.Sure the umps will be on high alert 🚨 for this game, so their won’t be a bean war due to a automatic injection, but if Bum is getting hammered and he’s down to his last batter are so ,and it’s Muncy, all bets are off..

  6. willedav said, on June 20, 2019 at 8:38 am

Yes Mac that was funny. No need to overwork Smith lately. Hope Giants get better pitching tonite and in AZ. Not having Sando available sucks too; said he couldn’t hit RH after being spiked.

Not a celebration guy myself, I think it’s silly. Mays hit 600 bombs and no one from his era did it even after guys like Drysdale were trying to blast him and Frank Robinson. It’s about respect for the game and your opponent is part of it. I think it’s good thing Bum seems to calm down and pitch his game instead of buzzing Bellinger or Muncy, which definitely was part of the game years ago. He’s always been hot headed on mound going back to minor league days. remember a vid where he blew up after some misplay?

I think Twin’s thing about WAR and AS game was directly related to Andres Torres. He was always reminding everyone that one great season the guy had, with a 7 WAR year. Just wasn’t sustainable

    • djloo27 said, on June 20, 2019 at 8:43 am

I have no doubt Torres was juicing big time that year. I remember seeing video of him working out and he was ridiculously jacked. Also had an appendectomy late in the season, IIRC. Can PEDS cause appendectomies?

      • willedav said, on June 20, 2019 at 8:57 am

plus Adderall, something else Twin used to explain away.

      • Macdog said, on June 20, 2019 at 9:26 am

Classic Loo that would always piss off Twin:

Reggie was the first “poser” I can remember…

  7. snarkk said, on June 20, 2019 at 8:53 am

    Punches thrown? Why not?
How about the Giants need to trade Bum without a broken hand, wrist or ripped quad…

  8. Macdog said, on June 20, 2019 at 8:58 am

Maybe MadBum can just invite Muncy or whoever for a ride on his dirt bike.

  9. willedav said, on June 20, 2019 at 9:06 am

Just saw story on MLBTR, phils lost another pen guy to injury. Braves up 4 on them right now and have added Kuechel to rotation. Having added Harper to the offense, what would Phils give up for Bum and Smith to help rotation and pen? Braves supposed to have great farm too so wonder if they’d take either off Giants hands.

This is going to be Z’s second off season, a chance to bring in some more talent to the organization via trade, something he was unable to do earlier save Pillar Vogt Austin. You can’t blame Bochy for playing Solano because that’s all he has to work with as RH bench guy for middle IF, again thx to Z.

  10. gianthead said, on June 20, 2019 at 9:30 am

Someone has got to move Bellinger off the plate and Bum is the man to do it…

    • gianthead said, on June 20, 2019 at 9:49 am

Puss boy Pomegranate should have stepped up and sent Bellinger a sign last night. How does Bellinger, especially against a lefty, gets away with literally being on top of the plate is mind boggling. Would a righty like Bob Gibson let alone a Marichal or Bunning or a lefty like Koufax allow that in their era???

      • snarkk said, on June 20, 2019 at 9:54 am

No, not allowed for a second…

  11. snarkk said, on June 20, 2019 at 9:53 am

I was thinking this am that Posey is a shell and nobody in media hits that issue much. Then, weird, I’m listening to KNBR in car and the morning dudes started to talk about WTF is with Posey? Finally. He’s got a .693 OPS or something which is just above the career number for Blanco. His contract is officially an albatross…

    • djloo27 said, on June 20, 2019 at 10:08 am

      He’s become Bob Boone…

      • gianthead said, on June 20, 2019 at 10:12 am

I wanted to trade him before last season…

      • unca_chuck said, on June 20, 2019 at 11:29 am

Right. And eat $60 million in the process. The Giants leadership has shown over and over it won’t eat deals.

  12. alleykat69 said, on June 20, 2019 at 11:03 am

It’s one thing if their was a DH in the NL, then I would be all in with Frazier, but he’s terrible in the OF worse then Burrell and Morse who both sucked out there. And you can’t throw him at 3rd with many years left on Longo’s contract and would still be a far superior fielder then Frazier.Just don’t see the fit except for the obvious power upgrade..

    • Bozo said, on June 20, 2019 at 11:27 am

I wonder if Longoria could play the OF?

    • gianthead said, on June 20, 2019 at 12:00 pm

He may suck defensively and remember one Barry Lamar Bonds ducking for a while in left…but that is not what you get a player like Frazier. He is 24 and can hit the snot out of the ball…neither Morse or Burrell had the career Frazier will have…

      • alleykat69 said, on June 20, 2019 at 3:07 pm

        Bold statement GH,
Since Burrell at the same age as Frazier 24 years old hit 18 bombs in the start of 11 years double digit bombs winding up with 292 HR’s and 976 RBI’s.
Just don’t see Frazier approaching those numbers, but would be thrilled if he could in the orange&black!

  13. Flavor said, on June 20, 2019 at 11:23 am

obviously if Bum got hurt and we couldn’t trade him I’d be devastated. But *theoretically* I want to see him throw down with someone.

  14. unca_chuck said, on June 20, 2019 at 11:32 am

Right. Look how well our last brawl worked out. . .

No, I’d love to see Muncy go one on one with Bummie.
One of those two-hit fights. Bummie hits Muncy. Muncy hits the ground.

I’m with GH. If anything, these guys should be going hard inside on Bellanger. Pound his hands at the belt. His fucking toes are nearly touching home plate.

    • alleykat69 said, on June 20, 2019 at 11:54 am

And are hitters are just barely in the batters box.

Was at the game with a group of Giants fans for my buddy greg 50th. SOOO fun to get so close and then shit. We were 14 rows from the field. Poseys ball looked like a hit off the bat headed for the gap. Bummer!. Looked like Voight safe at 3rd. Was he. A better manager would have pinch run for a slow catcher in that spot!

  49. unca_chuck said, on June 21, 2019 at 8:49 am
