A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Sunday!

Another late rally with nothing to show for it except a plucky spunk ending. Melancon terrible as usual. Pom Pom gonna start getting a little love around here? He’s competing and striking guys out and we could use more pitchers like that.

I played that Dick homer a hundred times ala Zapruder and blew it up the corner of the video to see Flap Nation…so I was not far off when watching it live on fri night.

Another ridiculous Yankee-Sox game…anyone else here think the mound is lower than typical?? I think MLB wanted to to jack up the offense even more than usual for this “showcase” and shows how MLB is happy to manipulate the game. There is no question in my mind that this mound is lower and not surprised to see a hundred runs and bazillion homers…they are trying to change the game to make it more “relevant” in this culture and sports world and I dont like it…an interesting comment about willie about the whiteness of the Giants and I think there is a lot to the argument.

Baseball has fucked with the ball to generate more interest and there has been discussion about lowering the mound to generate even more offense and less strikeouts. I’ve commented here how that then allows softball players to actually become major leagues and have to acknowledge white guys typically man the nation’s softball leagues and this “strategy” is to get more people (read white people…ok Trump Country) to watch because they relate to these softball jocks…Giants clearly have pursued as much of these softball types under Farhan’s watch and seems exactly what the Flodgers have done to bulk up their farm system…

Should be a very interesting free agent day for the NBA…I’ve got a crazy idea. Let’s say we keep KD and sign Klay to this max deal today or we dont sign KD and also cant land a KD replacement in a Jimmy Butler or other top tier option. Dubs come out next year obviously struggling and maybe a .500 team. I say the unthinkable…middle of the season trade Curry to the Hornets…

Get their #1 pick and by tanking we will have another high pick. Then 2020-21 season, KD is back potentially close to full health (if he is kept) and Klay fully healthy, Draymond resigned…Looney playing a bigger role and two high #1 picks with maybe $70-$80 million for free agents without KD and half available with him signing…still think KD is going elsewhere and him Kawhi with the Clippers is I think more likely than the Knicks…

    • djloo27 said, on June 30, 2019 at 8:21 am

No one in their right mind goes to the Knicks voluntarily…

      • gianthead said, on June 30, 2019 at 11:58 am

        True

    • djloo27 said, on June 30, 2019 at 8:30 am

      Over/Under on Curry’s PPG next season? 36.5?

      • Flavor said, on June 30, 2019 at 8:33 am

let’s wait and see what the team looks like. I am praying Dubs ownership/management doesn’t fall back on something comfortable and just sign KD and Klay to the max. It’s time to start over not go back to the same old shit especially with the new building opening. Ownership never knows when to say goodbye, the Giants are in this mess because they can’t just cut the cord with the past.

      • djloo27 said, on June 30, 2019 at 8:42 am

They might think the new building necessitates the old shit.
“Never Can Say Goodbye” was about as big a disco hit as there ever was…

      • gianthead said, on June 30, 2019 at 12:02 pm

Agreed and thoughts on my idea of trading Curry? Klay will carry the torch and I am still hoping KD suckers the Knicks or Nets, prefers he does not go to the Clippers but maybe that screws the Lakers…gives them the out also to think about trading Draymond.

    RE: Pom-pom
He definitely deserves some respect – forget about love. The guy was 17-6 in 2017 and is only 30.
Maybe we’re stuck thinking that if he had anything left, he wouldn’t have been available…

    • Flavor said, on June 30, 2019 at 8:42 am

he’s a white guy, he gets a lot of slack here 🙂

    • willedav said, on June 30, 2019 at 9:33 am

arm slot adjustment supposedly. But he’s been very good lately. Only problem it takes him 100 pitches to go 5, so then it’s pen game which blew up in Giants faces via bloop hits walks and crummy defense.

      • Flavor said, on June 30, 2019 at 9:35 am

we’re getting the best we’re gonna get out of Pom. If he can only give 5 quality innings or so Boch has to say “well done” and the bullpen is gonna have to deal.

      • gianthead said, on June 30, 2019 at 12:04 pm

And if they could figure the opener thing for him and Schmardj

  4. alleykat69 said, on June 30, 2019 at 9:05 am

Don’t be fooled by Pomegranate’s last 4 starts all at HOME! When they hit the Road, the real Pom Pom will emerge getting lit up after 3 innings 8 hits 7 runs and 90 pitches. He’s one white honkey that won’t get my knowing nod along with Melonoma…

    • Flavor said, on June 30, 2019 at 9:15 am

hey, there’s something to be said for a guy who is better pitching at home. He’s keeping us in games, that’s about all you can ask for when it comes to this shit team.

      • willedav said, on June 30, 2019 at 9:36 am

exactly. I just wonder who beside Gott can cover his last 4 innings once the two elite pen guys are traded. Gott has only thrown 50 innings each of last 3 seasons, and he’s already at 35. I just think he might be closer to done soon and then who do Giants have beside Dyson and Moronta?

  5. djloo27 said, on June 30, 2019 at 9:25 am

    BR boggling my mind:
Rusty Staub (2716 hits) and Carlos Beltran (2725 hits) both retired with career BA under .280 (.279).

  6. snarkk said, on June 30, 2019 at 9:55 am

Steph Curry will not get traded to Charlotte unless/until he is one season out from being the FT greeter at Ayesha’s latest restaurant incarnation…

    • gianthead said, on June 30, 2019 at 12:06 pm

But should he is my question….

  7. alleykat69 said, on June 30, 2019 at 9:59 am

Yeah like the A’s Kris Davis the past 4 years ending up with the same exact batting average .247 this year he’s at .249 so he can do it again..

  8. Flavor said, on June 30, 2019 at 10:02 am

it’d be easier for me to get worked up about Melancon but he doesn’t matter. If he was good we’d suck, he’s bad we suck. He wouldn’t move the needle on us being anything other than the second worst team in the NL–possibly soon to be the worst.

  9. snarkk said, on June 30, 2019 at 10:09 am

If ZMan does his job and trades anybody worth trading to get better bodies in the minors, the Giants will be THE worst NL team. And, that’s alright, because it means SF is going to be bad for a lot shorter period of time. Unfortunately Baer is back just in time to interfere with trades, regardless of that Schulman article saying he may have no real authority…

  10. willedav said, on June 30, 2019 at 10:26 am

I hope Giants can hang onto Sando at least until Ramos gets here because for me he represents about the only exciting guy to watch. What happened to OFs like Kenny Lofton or Sanders or Burks? IFs like Juan Uribe? 1b like Galaragga or R Smith?
I just don’t see anyone exciting/fun to watch enough to really care about out there.
Don’t get me wrong, game Friday was really fun with all the guys, but doubt I go back this year unless something similar planned. If next year is more of same or worse, forget it.

    • Flavor said, on June 30, 2019 at 11:18 am

well, you haven’t watched too much of Pillar who, across the course of the season, has provided the most exciting moments of any one on the team this year.

      • willedav said, on June 30, 2019 at 11:43 am

sure did last night–that play cost Dyson an undeserved L and was an easily catchable ball. He’s hitting .230 something. He has 15 doubles 1 triple and 10 bombs (most of which occurred in first couple weeks) in over 280 ABs, which works out to a ho hum 1 XBH about every 11 times up. I just can’t ignore the other numbers…if he got on base more often than .268 (worse than every other regular) and had better slugging, maybe.

    • gianthead said, on June 30, 2019 at 12:08 pm

Dick!!! The left- fielder of course 😊

  11. willedav said, on June 30, 2019 at 11:35 am

Pedro Strop is my new hero.

    • gianthead said, on June 30, 2019 at 12:09 pm

Replaced by a white guy…you’ve got to give me a gold star for that one Flav!!!

  12. willedav said, on June 30, 2019 at 11:59 am

At one point Friday Snarkk noticed on scoreboard slugging and OPS numbers for AZ. As updated:
Jones .449/762 the weakest link of them all
    Marte .578/.939 AS
    Escobar .543/.893
    Peralta .479/.830
    Walker .477/.806

    Pilar .388/647 and 3 for his last 26, 1 HR/1rbi

Dyson the CF, far superior OF to Pillar, has slash line .349/.368/.717 19 SBs.

  13. zumiee said, on June 30, 2019 at 1:24 pm

3b coach botched that. That was clearly going to be an out at the plate. You can’t completely give up on the next guy in the lineup hitting him in.

  14. willedav said, on June 30, 2019 at 1:35 pm

And there we are #11. Pillar is having good month of June, 6 bombs. Hope he can keep it up.

  15. Flavor said, on June 30, 2019 at 1:36 pm

another boring bomb from our least exciting player 🙂

    • willedav said, on June 30, 2019 at 2:05 pm

another 2 ribbies, good for him. He’s having a lot better June than May and I hope it carries over to rest of season.

      • Flavor said, on June 30, 2019 at 3:29 pm

he’s obviously not Joe Dimaggio. But for what we paid for him he’s been extremely fun to watch and he’s contributed big time.

  16. alleykat69 said, on June 30, 2019 at 1:55 pm

Kruk pouring on the extra sugar for Rueter!
“One of the greatest Giants of all-time!

  17. willedav said, on June 30, 2019 at 2:00 pm

Hope the Flap infused revitalization of posey continues too. 2 more hits and he pulled that one.

  18. zumiee said, on June 30, 2019 at 3:08 pm

Least surprising news- Smith is our All Star.

    • sandog said, on June 30, 2019 at 3:13 pm

Kuip butchering the names of various other all stars was pretty funny. #HangItUpKuip

  19. Flavor said, on June 30, 2019 at 3:28 pm

    boring, not exciting, next!

  20. unca_chuck said, on June 30, 2019 at 3:36 pm

Wow. The Conga line approach is working for once.

  21. unca_chuck said, on June 30, 2019 at 3:47 pm

Exciting in a bad way . . . Jesus. WTF was that?

  22. Bozo said, on June 30, 2019 at 4:16 pm

    10-4 good buddy.

  23. gianthead said, on June 30, 2019 at 4:19 pm

Just walk off the golf course.. hitting the ball real well San Dog…see that KD made his move. Awesome for us. If they can swing a sign and trade for DeAngelo Russell and then add Bagdonovich and keep Looney and see if Boogie is willing to stay, we will be just fine to be competitive and wait for Klay to be a playoff threat…

    • sandog said, on June 30, 2019 at 4:21 pm

You still trying to copy Patrick Reed’s swing?
I’m here w my mom in Novato, but may sneak out for 9 before long.

      • gianthead said, on June 30, 2019 at 5:50 pm

Got my late Sunday 9 in while heat not in the 90s…my son broke my driver so just got it fixed and much needed.

  24. unca_chuck said, on June 30, 2019 at 4:30 pm

No way they trade Steph. Nor should they. He will be a Warrior his whole career.

    • gianthead said, on June 30, 2019 at 5:52 pm

I think he eventually finishes in Charlotte and he could literally play golf at about 30 courses within a half hour from Charlotte every day not playing bball…if we do land DeAngelo will be interesting discussion…

  25. Macdog said, on June 30, 2019 at 6:40 pm

G-head, Bogdanovic is going to the Jazz. As for Russell, from what I’m seeing, T-Wolves are making a big push to find a way to get him. The Lakers also have serious interest in Russell.

    • Macdog said, on June 30, 2019 at 8:47 pm

Whoa, now seeing Nets and Dubs are indeed doing sign-and-trade involving Russell.

      • djloo27 said, on June 30, 2019 at 9:12 pm

        And Iggy to the Grizz…

  26. alleykat69 said, on June 30, 2019 at 9:32 pm

And Durant&Irving to Brooklyn,Shits getting crazy today..

  27. alleykat69 said, on June 30, 2019 at 9:52 pm

    Warriors don’t rebuild, they reload!
Been that way under Joe Lacob’s reign and I dig that!!
