Bombs away last night in San Diego, something they almost never do down there. Good to see them playing the game the way it has to be played these days to win consistently. Lots of of jibber jabber on twitter about what to do with “our glut of outfielders.” lol. Seems to me it’s rather simple. Pillar plays every day all the rest platoon their way into the line up. Very nice to see a good Stanford man paying dividends as soon as he gets here. More #slatertaters please.

Are we the whitest team in baseball now? Or is the league following suit? If Crawford had played we would have been the 1958 Red Sox.

lost in all the offensive explosion from Pillar Posey Slater Dick yada yada is how good SPs have been lately, something that applies to how game is played today and has always been.
    Smrdz 8 innings 2 runs 2 BBs 6 Ks
    Bum 7 innings 1 run 0 BBs 9 Ks
    Pom 5 innings 0 runs 2 BBs 7 Ks
    Andy 5.2 innings 2 runs 1 BB 3 Ks
    Beede 5.1 innings 2 runs 3 BBs 3 Ks
    31 innings 7 runs 2.03 ERA 8 BBs 28 Ks

Giants might not continue to hit like they have lately but with SPs doing well they can hang.
Slater’s next bomb would eclipse what he did all last year in 200 ABs. Hey if he’s figured some things out, more power to him. He played all over the place in Sac too, including 2b. hmmnn.
Feels good to beat Pads. They’ve bugged me since 2016, when they whipped Giants after A/S break and everything started to go downhill.

When I look back, boy I must have been green ,
Bopping in the country fishing in a stream.
Looking for an answer, trying to find a sign.
Until I saw your City lights, honey I was blind.
They said get back honky cat, better get back to the woods, well I quit those days and my redneck ways,And,oh,change is gonna do me good..

Boogie can’t even find a 1 year deal. Man, how his stock has fallen.

    • willedav said, on July 2, 2019 at 11:37 am

I’d keep him if I were GS. Give him more time to heal and improve conditioning in off season. Thought his mobility and lift suffered and affected his post up game. He’s a willing passer too and sets monster screens.
Jones is gonna need a lot of help to ever develop into a useful player.

BF: Did you have a chance to peruse my inane e-mail?

      • Flavor said, on July 2, 2019 at 11:52 am

just saw it. Sounds good. I’ll make that tomorrow’s thread.

      • djloo27 said, on July 2, 2019 at 2:44 pm

Excellent. Should be fun. The only revisions I was thinking of was maybe moving the deadline to the All-Star Game just to give guys a little more time to think and look over other rosters. Also, if someone nails ’em both, I’ll try to dig up something as a bonus. Whatever you decide…

How did all this honkiness happen to Giants of all teams?
    3 Alous
Willie Mac Willie Mays and Willie Kirkland all played together.
Willie K is still alive 85 years old and living in alabama. Hit 21/22 bombs for SF 59/60 traded for Harvey Kuenn.

    • Flavor said, on July 2, 2019 at 11:54 am

      2 reasons:
      1) the Giants went literally years without seriously scouting the DR or any other Latin community. Sabean simply didn’t care.
      2) Black players have essentially stopped playing the game. Which sucks.

      • Bozo said, on July 2, 2019 at 1:49 pm

        It isn’t always the scouting.
In 2015 the Giants signed Lucius Fox (since traded as part of the Matt Moore deal). They went high in the signing bonus for him ($2.6 mil), which by the way, got him away from LA. SF had to go through two years of mandated reduced spending on international players because of that signing. In 2018, they jumped back in and signed 17 year old, Marco Luciano, who is already considered our 3rd top prospect and some believe he has the potential to pass Bart on the prospect list.

    • willedav said, on July 2, 2019 at 12:03 pm

as late as 2014 giants had Casilla and Romo in pen combine for 42 saves, plus Petit.
Pagan and Blanco (co team leaders in steals) Sandoval Arias and Juan Perez. Plus bit players like Hacktor at C and Triple O.
And the ghost of Scutaro, 2012 late season hero. Man I loved to watch that guy hit for giants that year. In the STL series, where he caught the pop up from Holiday in the rain to end it, he hit .500, 14-28. And got only ring of entire career later.

      • Flavor said, on July 2, 2019 at 12:07 pm

Sure but when those guys left and we hadn’t developed any minority of consequence you are then left with what we have today.

Dont forget Freddie Sanchez and his different sized legs.

Guess we need to talk about the vagaries of the Beatles White album.

Helter Skelter, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Glass Onion – fantastic
Rocky Raccoon, Wild Honey Pie, Mother Nature’s Son – sucky

    Here’s a pic . .
    beatles whit album

  9. gianthead said, on July 2, 2019 at 3:43 pm

Why wouldn’t Warriors just sign Boogie for just one year???

    • unca_chuck said, on July 2, 2019 at 3:52 pm

They signed Looney. They have Damian Jones. Say what you will, Boggie’s performance this half season was very uneven. When he was good he was great when he was bad he was in foul trouble within 6 minutes of the 1st quarter. He’s gonna cost too much for the Warriors regardless of what he gets.

  10. gianthead said, on July 2, 2019 at 3:47 pm

Slater definitely play second in Richmond…

So should the props of the new scouting system go to the 2 Young guns Zman brought on board, Zack Minasan&Michael Holmes both analytics gurus?

  14. zumiee said, on July 2, 2019 at 5:27 pm

    “Mother Nature’s Son – sucky”

Well, I disagree with that. (big shock) It’s a nice acoustic number by Paul, with some interesting descending bass things happening in it. Jack White performed it at the McCartney tribute concert at the White House when Obama was President.

    • zumiee said, on July 2, 2019 at 5:33 pm

Here’s the Rutles’ brilliant parody of the song. It’s called “Let’s Be Natural.” It also parodies other songs from the White Album, like “Dear Prudence.”

    • unca_chuck said, on July 2, 2019 at 8:22 pm

I wasn’t completely behind that one. ust threw it in the list. As albums go, that’s a fairly hard listen. I just don’t know why I don’t listen to the Beatles that much, let alone an album. Like Zep, I heard them too much.

  39. willedav said, on July 2, 2019 at 10:23 pm

Giants SPs continue to dominate. Pads getting little closer to 5th place every day. Good to see Bochy taking care of biz back where he was run out of Dodge too. Platoony lineups looking pretty good.

Colossal choke-job by Arizona. Chickened out and walked 5 Dodgers in the bottom of the 9th and lost.

    • Macdog said, on July 3, 2019 at 7:29 am

All with 2 outs. Saw walks 3 & 4, the 4th tying it, and turned it off knowing it was over. Holland is fucking awful I saw him blow a game vs. Rox a couple weeks ago ’cause he was all over the place, so this was nothing new.

  43. zumiee said, on July 2, 2019 at 11:33 pm

Dodgers have an insane 35-9 record at home, with a bunch of walk-off wins.
