Incomplete Independence
If you want any more evidence that the powers that be in MLB don’t *get it* any more, look no further than the schedule today: No Giants baseball. In fact, there are only 12 measly games scheduled for today, probably the best day of the year for baseball in America. Freakin’ pathetic….
Anyway, I’ve got DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince rockin’ Summertime in the background as I type this and then will get ready for the Palo Alto Chili Cook Off, Spiderman at 6:15 and fireworks at Shoreline to finish the night off.
On second thought, who has time for baseball?
Happy 4th, ya’ll.
Yeah, they said the last time the Giants didn’t play on the 4th was 1941.
Compare what Beebe says here with Dutch Oven Fire.

Interesting reading of the Warriors and KD dissension stories…especially with Kerr and KD or his camp whining he was getting enough love love from the Dub fans…if so, fuck him. Proving himself to be the primadonna that was stuck to him in OKC…he is going to regret not appreciating how good he had it in the Bay Area…
Since the Flap stormed Oracle Park last Friday night and administered a Flap electric shock to the organization’s energy level, the Giants have gone 5 of 6, and onto an offensive binge thought nigh possible before. Coincidence? Hell no…
Good headline there, Flavor.
Happy 4th to all and keep those trade picks coming.
Alert the many MIA flappers if you can.
I’d be especially interested in seeing Blade’s selections.
Can’t get that Rick James song out of my head…
A week ago, I wouldn’t have cared that the Giants are off today and probably would’ve welcomed it. Now they’re playing their best ball, so yeah, this sucks. But Flav’s point is so true, it’s ridiculous that six teams aren’t playing on the 4th of July.
Yep, it’s crazy that not every single MLB team is playing on 4th of July. MLB appears fairly clueless about fan outreach at a league level…
40 hits in a 3 game series??? When was the last time the Giants did that outside of Colorado??? 2016 or likely way before.
Forgot to mention the other day we were at the halfway point of the season after Monday’s win. We were sitting at 37 wins and 37 needed for Boch…now 35!!!
Anyone think Giants and Farhan talking to teams this week??? Coming of a solid second start in a row, time is right to engage on Bum…
It just scaralege no Giants game today!
Lon Simmions&Russ Hodges are rolling in their graves.Every 4th it’s bbq,transistor radio 📻, fireworks 🧨 beers 🍻, cocktails 🍹 hotdogs,hamburgers,chicken,steaks,veggies and Giants baseball ⚾️ it’s the American tradition!!
Let’s face it, even when they play, there’s no shortage of scarelege…
Interesting reading of the Warriors and KD dissension stories…especially with Kerr and KD or his camp whining he was getting enough love love from the Dub fans…if so, fuck him. Proving himself to be the primadonna that was stuck to him in OKC…he is going to regret. ot appreciating how good he had it in the Bay Area…
Sorry…KD whining he was “not” getting enough love and complaining he was second fiddle to Curry with the fans…
Just seeing this Loo contest and outside of Flav’s pick, I’ll make mine without looking at others.
I’ll go Bum to Philly, Smith to Atlanta and Watson to the Yankees…dont fucking trade him to the Flodgers Farhan!!!
MLB needs a guy like Adam Silver to run it.
Look at what the NBA is doing. They’ve taken the NFL idea of year round interest in front of fans and media, and run with it, but smarter.
Regular season, OK, it’s there. Then playoffs that take two months. Then, focus on the college draft right after the playoffs. Then, bring on the FAgent period, and hype all the big star and semi-star players that might be moving, with media overload on the mega stars like KD, Kyrie, Lebron (he’s not even moving anywhere), etc. It’s a national PR show. Then, when this is over, move right into two+ weeks of summer league in Vegas, where the draftees strut stuff, media congregates, and old stars like Kobe, etc. roll in to get attention, and bring attention. After summer league, it’s August anyway, and nobody’s paying attention other than to NFL camps. Then, September starts and you’ve got the NBA “camps” starting and the handful of pre-season tuneups. October — regular season starts again. Essentially, 11 months of NBA.
MLB? The best player in the league, Mike Trout, can walk down virtually any street or any mall in the US, even in Anaheim and LA, and nobody will know him…
Trout could help out a little, too. He’s sitting out the HR Derby again. I know it’s a *grueling* hour or so but everyone wants to see him compete in that. And he sits out cause he just doesn’t want to do it. Lame.
Finally it looks like the Giants have figured out to use Pom, at home only! On the road they can fly him to Siberia where nobody cares..
Hi Girls,
I’ll come back when #SFG gets to within five games under .500, ADickboy reaches 10 homers, Hemingway’s Pilar reaches 55 RBIs, and TedSpe or Ferrethead returns.
Been busy.

Thirteenth in progress.
Happy frothy firth of Fourth. Fuck Trump’s tanks.
Feel the quake up there?
The quake hit near Ridgecrest, about 350 miles southeast of the Bay Area in a remote part of Kern County. I didn’t feel anything, doubt if anybody did way up here. It was about 120 miles northeast of LA — they felt some of it there, but not to extent of any damage as far as I’ve seen so far…
July 1, another Bobby Bonilla day.
He picked up another check from the Mets for $1.2 million. Thru 2035…
Damm Bobby Bonilla is the smartest baseball player of all time fleecing the dumbest organization out of millions for another 15 years?holy shit💩, laughing his way to the Bank 🏦 every Independence Day!!
Joey Chestnut “The Legend of Weiner’s” downed 71 doggies and buns in 10 minutes for his 4th straight Nathan’s hotdog title on Coney Island!! 🗽🌭🌭🌭🌭🌭🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
We get earthquakes every day here in the East Bay. They’re just at around 1-2 on the Richter, so you don’t even notice them, but the seismographs do. When we get one around 3, then you start to feel it, depending on where you are vs. the epicenter…
Just enough movement to shake you martini 🍸
ZMan should have no issues on the trade track with this spurt of offense against a team with a dogmeat set of starters in the Pads. Giants still are the bottom of the barrel in the NL, this streak is a nice distraction from the crappiness of its composition.
Hope everyone down Ridgecrest way is ok. I love that part of the countryside, would stay at some dive motel in Ridgecrest everytime I drove my Jeep down for some Death Valley days. Love those kinds of towns that time seems to have forgotten about.
Have a great fourth. Dave Alvin’s song Fourth of July (covered by X when he played guitar with them) is my soundtrack. And here’s the laughtrack:

All ya’s above don’t ignore the current contest.
Got a sweet prize for someone who goes 2 for 2…
very kind of you Loo and that’s great idea for contest. I have gift cards from a year ago I haven’t used or I’d be in. Like my keys, not sure where they really are right now.
What do you think reaction would be from Giants fanbase if in fact Z does trade one of the relievers to LA?
I’m more concerned about them accepting too little for Bum & Smith.
The Giants negotiating position is strong…
Ryu shut out pads on 3 hits through 6, LA up 6-0. He’s right behind guys named Drysdale and Koufax for best ERA ever at AS break at 1.73. Pads looking at 5h L in a row and about to fall to only 2 fewer Ls than giants, with 3 more at Latrine. Not good.
Just get in anyway, Wille…
Bum: Braves
Smith: Nats
Watson BoSox
hmmnn those are ALL good ones. Nats making some noise. WC is going to be wild race in NL this season and Boston can’t just sit back and stare at the ring from last year.
gotta admit I still think you could have done better job of establishing position in the case of the ball tossed our way. don’t think Paul Silas would have let anyone knock that away from him.
Btw I checked out some super70s twitter stuff. Great pic of J R Richard and Nolan Ryan together.
So far 9 guys in have Bum going to 7 different teams…
This 4th of July has confirmed something I was pretty sure of last year.
Fireworks just don’t do it for me anymore…
Deadline for my stupid fuckin’ contest is now midnight Sunday, New York time.
I will be crushed if we don’t have at least 15 guys in…
We sat in line trying to get into Shoreline for an hour, finally said *fuck it* and just went home and watched 6 fireworks shows from the hill a block from our house. Better. Now, bed.
Smoke on the water;
Fire in the sky…
Fun fact: there are only 4 teams in NL, LA AZ ATL and PIT, who have won more games on road than Giants.
Daniel’s Cards in town, game and half back of Cubs and Brewers in tight NL Central. Tough year offensively for them, no better than 12th in most offensive categories such as runs HRs slugging OPS. Golds has 14 bombs OPS of .748, Carpenter barely above .700 and Molina (4 bombs and has another season left @$20mil) .649. Carpenter and Ozuna (having nice year) both hurt along with closer Hicks. Bader kid who looked so good last year also struggling along with Kolten Wong.
Pitching 4th best in NL.
Theirs controlled fireworks shows, and then theirs the guy that had a artillery worth of bombs 💣 blasting my neighborhood till after 11:30 last night.
@Willie–My initial thought was that the throw from Yaz wasn’t even going to make it into the stands, let alone get up to me. But it seemed like it had some rising action (4 seamer???) and just kept coming.
My mistake was letting it “get too deep” as they say–rather than reaching out to get it.
Though with Flav slamming into me, even that might not have made any difference!
stop complaining, you withstood the blow and remained standing. Others from my past did not receive as kind of fate.
If the Giants somehow did a bunch of crazy winning in July, that would have to give Zaidi some pause regarding trading Bum and Smith.
