I mIght have caught that Yaz ball if I had this mitt . . .

    bigmitt

  2. unca_chuck said, on July 5, 2019 at 9:45 am

The pisser here is this team usually goes into “we can’t hit at home” mode and gets blanked when they return. Never have I seen a team with such a mind-fuck of their own creation. A home-field disadvantage.

I’ll be surprised if we don’t get swept.

Is Cardinal Daniel offering us gift cards????

    • djloo27 said, on July 5, 2019 at 10:21 am

      I don’t think he’s building a computer…

    • Macdog said, on July 5, 2019 at 10:49 am

      Maybe this:

  4. alleykat69 said, on July 5, 2019 at 11:03 am

Are maybe a Mike Matheny get out of town card…

  5. gianthead said, on July 5, 2019 at 11:23 am

I saw that AJ Pollack will be back with the Flodgers. With the way those a-holes are going, is he expendable? Who here would trade Will Smith and Watson for Pollack, who has 4 years and $41 mill left on his contract.

I would hate trading anything of value to them but I would do this deal and get a legit lead-off…

    • alleykat69 said, on July 5, 2019 at 11:44 am

Way too much for a guy like Pollack who’s always injured 🤕And Fuck LA I would never trade with them unless it’s Pom for Bellinger 😂

    • Flavor said, on July 5, 2019 at 11:52 am

Agree with Kat, why too much for him

  6. Bozo said, on July 5, 2019 at 12:52 pm

Never feel that great when the Pompadour takes the mound, so 2 outta 3 sounds about right to me.

6 back in the WC, we are in the passing lane and Cinci is next.

  7. Flavor said, on July 5, 2019 at 1:23 pm

really interested to see if the Giants offense can keep it going tonight. They are now a week removed from the bounce they got from the Flap glare. Nothing shines forever. Sometimes I think Bochy took “it’s better to burn out than to fade away” way too literally……

    • gianthead said, on July 5, 2019 at 5:18 pm

      Its pyromania…

  8. Flavor said, on July 5, 2019 at 2:13 pm

    anyone see this? Hilarious

    • sandog said, on July 5, 2019 at 2:24 pm

My brother was talking about this. I’m up for anything to deal with the seagull problem. How about some kind of high pitched sonic noise to drive them away—Cuban embassy style?
In my book, there are 4 things about the Giants i find embarrassing:
      1. Seagull situation
      2. Ballpark dimensions
      3. Bullshit Bullpens
      4. Duane Kuiper as one of our main announcers

  9. zumiee said, on July 5, 2019 at 2:40 pm

    Poor misunderstood seagulls.

  10. Flavor said, on July 5, 2019 at 3:47 pm

Loo I hate to do this but I’m changing my picks. Bum to the Twins, Smith to the Red Sox, Watson still going to LA

    • djloo27 said, on July 5, 2019 at 4:24 pm

No problem. You’ve got 48 hours, boss.
      I’ll update my spread sheet…

      • djloo27 said, on July 5, 2019 at 4:33 pm

I’m contemplating a slightly outlandish change to my picks, too…

  11. Pasalon said, on July 5, 2019 at 4:04 pm

Bum goes to Astros, Smith goes to Red Sox and Watson goes to the twins

    • djloo27 said, on July 5, 2019 at 4:27 pm

      You’re on the sheet…

  12. djloo27 said, on July 5, 2019 at 4:41 pm

If I say so myself, i think this is one of the more fascinating pools we’ve had.
In addition to Flavor’s gift card I have something very cool for the winner if he nails the Bum-Smith double.
C’mon, snarkk, kat, blade, dirt, willedav, banh bao paul, james, koko, wilco, irish kev, chi, etc.
    Let’s get going…

  13. Flavor said, on July 5, 2019 at 5:01 pm

All flappers should be entering Loo’s contest. Besides not having anything better to do it is borderline disrespectful to ignore the contest.

    • djloo27 said, on July 5, 2019 at 5:17 pm

      Way to scold those fuckers!

  14. djloo27 said, on July 5, 2019 at 5:25 pm

    1. Brandon Belt (L) LF
    2. Buster Posey (R) C
    3. Pablo Sandoval (S) 1B
    4. Alex Dickerson (L) RF
    5. Evan Longoria (R) 3B
    6. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
    7. Kevin Pillar (R) CF
    8. Joe Panik (L) 2B
    9. Drew Pomeranz (R) P

    • Flavor said, on July 5, 2019 at 5:42 pm

I’m late to the party commenting on this but I am beyond ecstatic that Bochy has finally started batting Belt first. It always made perfect sense, better late than never.

      • djloo27 said, on July 5, 2019 at 5:50 pm

Old school geezers like me who grew up on Maury Wills, Lou Brock, etc are freaked out by it.
Much like the Yankees eschewing(?) their tradition of accumulating lefty bats, a big clod leading off is still a little hard to grasp…

      • willedav said, on July 5, 2019 at 5:54 pm

only vs. RHP, but yes good to see. Maddon bats Kyle Schwarber leadoff.

  16. willedav said, on July 5, 2019 at 5:58 pm

Belt in LF hmmnn… see if Vanilla Triangle, Belt Longo Crawford (with LHP going) comes back to haunt them.

  17. Flavor said, on July 5, 2019 at 6:10 pm

Loo, not sure if you caught this one, he put in on an old thread.
Cardinal70 said, on July 5, 2019 at 5:18 pm (Edit)
Flavor suggested I chime in on this one, so I’ll say Bumgarner to the Pirates (let’s get crazy!), Smith to the Twins, and Watson to the Cardinals.

    • djloo27 said, on July 5, 2019 at 6:17 pm

Thanks Flavor, i didn’t see it. I’ll add Daniel on…

  18. James said, on July 5, 2019 at 6:13 pm

Watson to Philadelphia, Bum to the Brewers, Smith to Oakland. Are my picks unique?

    • Flavor said, on July 5, 2019 at 6:20 pm

they bring their own sense of mystery and intrigue.

      • James said, on July 5, 2019 at 6:26 pm

God dang it I’ve told everyone I like Jose Martinez, since off season. Second pitch from Poms and he blasts it out of here no doubt. He ain’t making shit money either….arrggh he can hit in this yard!

He did well in Oaktown, maybe they’d take him for cash considerations or something.

  26. xoot said, on July 5, 2019 at 7:43 pm

If things get worse in this game this evening, and somehow I suspect they will, consider this “film.” Very funny climate-change disaster movie. Steve Buscemi’s character wears a red hat bearing the slogan Keep America White Again, until he doesn’t. Iggy Pop and Tom Waits are terrific, as you’d expect.

  27. willedav said, on July 5, 2019 at 7:53 pm

Getting the ribbie was a wise move on his part.

  29. PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on July 5, 2019 at 8:03 pm

    Bum to Brewers
    Smith to Twins
    Watson to Yanks
Super tie breaker: Longo back to Tampa (Giants eat 50% salary)

  31. Flavor said, on July 5, 2019 at 8:23 pm

    Panik to Yanks
    Boom.

    • zumiee said, on July 5, 2019 at 8:33 pm

That’s a good movie. Very funny, with a creative story set during Nixon’s presidency.

  35. pawliekokonuts said, on July 5, 2019 at 8:35 pm

    Loo:
This is not a smart-aleck question: in the contest can one posit that either Bum or Smith or both do NOT get traded? How’s that for a tiebreaker, fuckwads*?
    *in honor of Twinfan

    • djloo27 said, on July 5, 2019 at 8:41 pm

Not as a tiebreaker, but you can put either (or both) of those guys as staying with Giants.
The tie breaker has to be a 3rd guy winding up on another team regardless of how….

    • Flavor said, on July 5, 2019 at 8:41 pm

i considered that route just for the low ownership angle but can’t see a scenario where both don’t get traded. They have to go.

  37. sandog said, on July 5, 2019 at 8:41 pm

Hey Loo—how about this–if someone nails the Exacta, you have to come out to a game at Oracle next year!

    • sandog said, on July 5, 2019 at 8:41 pm

I meant Trifecta—-correct destinations for all 3 guys.

    • Flavor said, on July 5, 2019 at 8:42 pm

my revised picks that supersede [note proper spelling] the previous:

    Bumgarner STAYS
    Smith STAYS
    tiebreaker: Panik to Yanks

This bizarre pick is based on a shocking resurgence of the Giants before the trade deadline — shocking beyond reason and credulity. Plus, this dollop of strange optimism is penance to Blade to whom I emailed in June 2010 that the Giants were done for the year.

    • Flavor said, on July 5, 2019 at 8:51 pm

Gregor Blanco is on the Syracuse Mets. Sad to say, he ain’t this year’s Manny Burriss. I was at Frontier Field in Rochester (great park) with my Adri and her bf (Father’s Day gift), and the former beloved White Shark looked lost offensively. Struck out twice, once looking, I recall. Couldn’t get bat on the ball. He looked the same in Syracuse several weeks ago. So, I better order his copy of WORLD SERIOUS fast.

A guy named Rymer Liriano CRUSHED a rocket homer, a laser that would’ve landed in the parking lot except that it hit the scoreboard, halfway to the top of the structure. BOMBED. And he threw a guy out at 3B from RF.

  42. Flavor said, on July 5, 2019 at 8:54 pm

Loo if my math is correct, and believe me I’ve been running the numbers all afternoon, Kokonuts just hit your coveted 15 number. Yes?

  49. willedav said, on July 5, 2019 at 9:59 pm

So the up to tonite light hitting Cards now have 12 hits 6 walks through 7. Of those 12, 2 400 ft plus bombs 2 loud triples that might have been bombs if they weren’t hit to deepest part of the yard, and a double.

  50. willedav said, on July 5, 2019 at 10:10 pm

Giants meanwhile have 6 hits 1 bomb from dick and 3 walks, none since first inning. should have knocked the SP out early. They used to say that about a lot of better SPs—get to them early or you wind up with nothing after they settle in.

  51. zumiee said, on July 5, 2019 at 10:15 pm

Dodgers lost at home. That’s a rarity.

  52. willedav said, on July 5, 2019 at 10:20 pm

According to B/R these are Cards offensive stats/NL ranking coming in:
    11th for BA and OB
    12th for runs HRs OPS
13th for doubles and triples and slugging
and pitching staff (4th best in league for ERA) had given up 14 more bombs than they had hit
Sure liked what they saw off Pom and those who followed him too.
At least Flav and SD picked the right Friday night game for us to go to.
