Not Getting What I Want
I’ve nearly resigned myself to Bumgarner staying. And I’m ok with it. Disappointed, but ok. My stance is that we should improve the minor league system with anything substantial but if that offer isn’t out there for Bum I don’t want to just see him get moved for the sake of movement. And I do get the irritating emotional attachment the fans have to him. And the players would *revolt* apparently.
I left my emotional attachment to these guys in my past a long time ago. When Will left, that was kind of it for me. It was just too much to get attached and then watch them leave. I still love my team and there are players I’ll never forget but I don’t have that “No we can’t lose these guys!” mentality. I can watch *Giant greats* move on and play for other teams. I wanted to watch Bum do it one more time on the big stage and I think we’re going to lose that opportunity because of this fruitless wild card chase…..
Having said that, I could care less about TFLR, Watson or Dyson leaving. If those 3 bring back 2 legit guys who can play for us in a year or two I’m all for it. Hopefully they’re bats but we probably need starting pitching too, just like everyone else.
If we keep everyone? Eh, whatever. The minor league system will sort itself out, Zaidi is a stud who knows what he’s doing unlike the clueless Sabean/Evans tandem. It might take an extra year or two but that isn’t the worst thing in the world, right? Once the deadline passes quietly, we get to watch this *chase*. I think it’s going to peter out when the injuries start or, more likely, we just can’t sustain this incredible run anymore. But it might keep the dog days at bay, there’s something to be said for that…..
Tomorrow I’m going out of town for 10 days I don’t want to worry about this anymore. If history is any indication some major hammers are going to start to drop. Whenever I leave town shit goes down. Watch.
At the start of the season Baseball America had our organizational farm system rating at #28, they just adjusted it to #15. So I guess our farm system is on a hot streak right now as well.
If any of our current OFers get injured or start slumping badly, I’d expect to see Gerber, Shaw and/or Ramos (the other one) get the call. If Crawford gets hurt, Avelino is hitting the ball pretty good.
If one Zman draft has moved the Giants farm from #28 to #15, then he must be a miracle worker.
Either that, or it’s a typo…
The number rose also because some minor leaguers are performing well. Bart, Ramos, etc.
Bart homered last night. 11 for the season, and he was out over a month with the finger.
OPS now at .817; SLG .500. K rate just above 20%…
I want that shit top 10 after this week but I fear that won’t happen
Actually, it is mainly because of the 2018 draft and international signings by the old regime. Those players are just being rated higher now by BA.
Craig, enjoy out of town. Road trip? Or single destination relaxation?
Reno>Tahoe>black butte Oregon
Zman’s moves so far since he took over make me wonder whatinhell Sabevans were doing the last 4 or 5 years. I think after winning 2 trophies, management went on autopilot. Bum basically won the third one…
That’s exactly right. Signed all their guys over and over, fucked everything else, probably drank a lot of wine
You off to Sun Valley again, Flav?
I think Smith and Dyson go and Watson stays. Shit, I don’t know. Yeah, I’ve wanted them to give Avelino a look. He’s flashing a little power this year.
Not this year, no time. Reno>Tahoe>Black Butte
Sounds good Flavor, Getting some gambling in I assume for sure at Eldarado,Peppermill.Alantis,Nugget?
I’m sure the W/C lines will change some at the deadline with some trades..Have fun my sister says the weather is cookin up there so enjoy the A/C 🥶
poker (cash and tournaments) at the Legacy and the Peppermill, probably lay down some Del Mar pick 4’s at the Legacy. That’s the only type of gambling I do in Reno…..
Giants farm system is strongest at AAA and A ball, the AA team is the one that sucks the most( definitely needs better talent there)with only pitcher Melvin Aldon as the only player on the 40 man roster.Rivercats have 11 players on the 40 man roster, but not my main man LHP reliever Sam Selman who’s Killin it in Sac and should get a look soon especially if they trade some relievers at the deadline..
Holland to the Cubs for cash considerations, big news
Shoot, I had him as the first one not named Bum or Smith, that would be gone, but I had him going to the Brewers.
At the moment, Bozo you are winning the pool…
Wow- never even heard of it!
Has a Polo Grounds vibe…
They had more sense back then to build shade for the fans. Unlike our football stadium.
Man but how short is that LF fence??
Yeah thinking the same thing Loo about a Polo ground vibe.
The clipper ship in the background is parked next to McCovey cove.
Beat the Meatles. Never seen this one before. Got to say the drumming is pretty great in this.
I mean, they ARE invisible.
Jim Barnett leaving the broadcast booth. Sucks! Wish it was Fitz. Loved JB all these years.
Totally agree with you on the emotional attachment thing, especially as it began with The Thrill.
playing as much daily fantasy sports as I do did it too, lqtm
Feels like a good night for Green to bang one out…..
Scherzer now getting an injection in his back and is not throwing again. Man, these 30 something guys, it’s like clockwork. It’s just dumb to pay big deals for pitchers. And I’m not saying Scherzer is a bad deal, he’s a stud. But the risk is just too high for these guys that are out here pouring gas out of their arms. The body just can’t do it forever…..
DRod rekindling the magic?
Big Maple getting blasted in the first inning. How can the Yankees not trade everything for Bum? Costas his predictable awful self, Smoltz saving the broadcast…..
The Yankees waited too long to come after Bum. They could probably get Greinke.
I’d love to watch Bum pitch for the Yankees in the post season. That would be absolutely epic. He’s not going to be pitching for SF in the post season how about somebody?
I predicted Bum to the Yankees for Loo’s contest; but all indications seem to be Bum will not be traded.
If he does get traded, I want Bum anywhere but the Bronx. Speaking of Paxton, wasn’t his value considered higher than Bum in the offseason? Haha, not working too well for the Yanks.
WHat’s the big deal if he goes to the Bronx?
I hate the Yankees.
I still think it would be great for Bum to win it for someone and we get to say “you’re welcome”. Why am I the only one who feels this way lol
I was with you until the surge.
I’d have no problem watching Bum help a team like the Astros (my pick), Twinkies, Brewers, or any contender win the World Series. Just not the Yanks.
Big Maple needs to stop fucking pitching to Betts, man, he just hit his 3rd bomb in the 4th inning, lol
Red Sox have out-scored the Yanks 26-3 so far in the two games. Dose of reality to the Yanks regarding their starting pitching.
It’s so hot in the Central Valley this week. Definitely a great time to be an SF Giant instead of a Sac-town River Cat.
All credit to Z for injecting Giants LU with OF full of hitters. But as to watinell Sabes /Evans have been doing, look no further than pitching staff. Z only gets credit(!) for Gott and Pom
Dyson smith Watson ( 3 major current trade chips designed to bring back prospects and help rejuvenate system) ALL acquired by S/E along with DRod and Anderson
Beede Moronta and Menez all drafted by S/E as well.
Z’s specialty is finding hitter nuggets which is good since that’s how the game is played now. I hope he flips Smith for 2 hitters.
Nats bullpen has issues.
What’s the big deal if he went to the Yankees?
He would have to be clean shaven(Which is the dumbest team rule ever) and he probably doesn’t know what a razor is! Probably use a chainsaw on his face..
lol, watching Bum wave his no trade to go to the Yanks and try to shave his face would be worth the entire trade. If a trade that Z likes is on the table he better fucking accept it or he’s getting his ass tagged and he’s fucked.
4 days IN A ROW that someone has hit 3 bombs in a game. Think about how absurd that is. Think about what this juiced ball is doing to the game.
When I saw picture, I thought they were honoring Adrian Gonzalez…
Padre uni’s are some of the best out there. If I was a new fan looking for a team and I was watching tonight’s game I might pick them just for the uni
What a gun and precision throw by Buster gunning down Tatis!
ugh, look at these 2 dopes. I don’t care if I sound like a hater I don’t care if I look out of touch with the younger crowd, this dude is a goddamn major league pitcher and he’s out there snapping pics like an 8th grade girl…..
So I guess their taking over as the next annoying couple rein after Hunter&Lexi..
This is the planet Earth in 2019.
Love it or leave it…
Baseball players get to to live their whole baseball careers like they are perpetually in high school.
And they usually act accordingly.
wow great way to end the inning Posey guns down Tatis and smrdz strikes out Machado looking. Strike 3 was a better pitch to hit than strike 2 dunno what he was waiting for.
flav my godson had Pads brown top on last time I saw him looks pretty good.
I should text him he’s bound to hit at least one of these. Funny first LL uni he ever wore he was so happy to get Thrill’s 22.
I don’t have any brown clothes in my closet,
“To me anything brown you flush it”
well, you’re missing out on some nice color schemes when you dress in the morning. lqtm.
Supposed lock for he 2008 TC. Listless in the Belmont post parade. KD took him 5 wide in the first turn after breaking from the rail. WTF???
boom solano comes through again!
Should be entertaining on Sunday,
Cowboy Joe West &Madison Bumgarner square off…
Boch can get thrown out of his last game in SD.
Hedges career so far: 1000 ABs spread over 5 years, .207 BA .628 OPS.
This season hitting .193 .591 OPS.
2nd round draft choice, at time rated one of “top 4-5 C prospects.” Prospects said with Iverson “practice” voice.
Wow, that’s nuts. The last time the Pads went to the playoffs, Bochy was the manager.
Vanilla Flub.
yeah vanilla triangle strikes again.
That’s on Austin.
Fuck. Where was that?
I think sometimes you need to concede the hit to avoid the collision. A collision would have been awful.
Well, Austin must haver called off Crawford because Craw had the better shot at it
Ball 6.
Ball 7
yes. what is this guy doing out there? now he’s behind Smrdz with bases loaded
Blow this fucker open!
dang it make this guy throw you a f-ing strike
Damn, as one of my daughter’s travel coaches used to say, “wasted opportunity.”
Fuckin’ sickening…
This inning just turned into a pile of steaming of dogshit!!!Baseloaded no outs, pathetic AB’s by Solono&Belt.. Belt twice now ugly shit..
Solano popped out on a terrible pitch. Over-eager batting.
Batting practice pitch from Smarj.
you knew that was gonna happen. smrdz leaves a meatball in middle of plate and game is tied.
Is everybody on Earth named Austin, Tyler or Matt?
Where are all the Tommys & Eddies?
It;’s a millennial thing.
Still welding their knifes in West Side Story?
Baby John was a useless Jet…
Hah!
Cards take over first in Central, Cubs tied with Nats in WC.
stop swinging at the slop in the dirt! Slater lucky to get on there
That one nearly hit the grass it was so bad,
Send Slater!
Fuck in A Come on you can’t let this Bum get out of another jam!!
Kruk..Why wouldn’t Machado take it to 3rd for the DP and end up with the slowest Giant at 2nd that’s the right play..
Boy that’s really ticking off an ump when the catchers 4 steps to the dugout and the pitcher is failing his arms..Cowboy Joe would of tossed them both!
These are the games I hate, when you should have a ton of runs and you don’t get them and your stuck in a 1-1 game..
Especially on the road.
and against the slop throwing wild pitcher. HIs fastest pitch tonite was 90 a few times. Rest was slop.
Earlier Unca on Ringo.
Ringo was king of fills. That’s all the Beatles needed. Simple, well executed fills. No need for Bonham or Moon. Ringo got the job done, and added some entertainment value…
My favorite Ringo was in Revolution…
No one touched Mitch Mitchell in my opinion. He was as creative as Moon but not nearly as wild. Very heavily jazz influenced.
Sorry to say.
But, if Zman traded Panik after tonight, by tomorrow’s game I would not miss him one bit…
Same with Belt.Ive seen him in many slumps and this is the worse EVER! He’s obviously hurt and acts like he doesn’t want to swing the bat at all thinking he’s gonna hurt himself more swinging.
smrdz.like him or not lowers the ERA to 3.95.
If Belt’s knee really is bothering him that much he’s in Pagan territory and needs to acknowledge it.
What’s wrong with Belt’s knee?
Pillar has 1 HR this month. He hit that one Jul 1 and had hit one day before. So that’s 80 some ABs since last one though of course he did miss one other day by inches.. He tends to hit them in bunches so let’s hope he can get rolling on this road trip.
I love Ringo’s drumming on Rain. As Snarkk said, Ringo was great on fills.
Kuiper keeps saying “Get him in, get him over.”
He’s saying that backwards.
It’s get him on get him over get him in
That was lame. They should have just let Yaz try to ground out to the right side.
Come on, you’ve got to get Panda over to 3rd. Giants executing like they did before the big streak…
Craw looking like Rowand. Watch the strikes, swing at the balls.
Vogt ot die!
As horrible as this Ump is you have to swing from the on deck circle..
Another wasted leadoff double goes awry.
Wow a say hey moment for Pillar awesome ketch!!
Great catch!!
Hella grab by Pillar there. myers is hitting .211 this year but guy destroys Giants. They sat one of their bombers Reyes who has 26 I think so Myers can get his rips. almost worked. Watson I think I can live without.
You finally get a day off after a grueling stretch and then you back into extra innings again.,
Warning track Belt..Will Robinson
The independent Atlantic league is now using a “robot” balls and strikes ump in every game.
There is human home plate ump.
But, he has a wireless set of Apple earbuds connected to an iPhone in his ball bag, and gets the ball and strike call from the ball and strike machine. He will make the call he’s told to make by the machine, unless there is an obvious glitch, like if the ball bounces 4 feet in front of the plate and then hops through the strike zone for a strike, or it’s 2 feet outside and gets called a strike for some reason.
So far, over 60 games have been played using this system. No problems…
