Win Of The Year

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 17, 2019

Somewhere in the world’s forest, Gail is being gently awakened by the sounds of another day beginning. Birds chirping, squirrels scurrying about. The sun peeks out over a mountain top, she stretches and is excited to beginning a new day of hiking—the furthest thing away from the explosive night time wake up call that would have jarred her conscious had she stayed at home. 🙂 🙂 🙂

So it turns out, I was very wrong-o about Yaz’ grandson.

Happily so. Between him, Pillar and The Dick we gave up literally nothing. So for that, I give Z huge props. He did this same thing with Muncy in LA so I think it’s clear he’s got a knack for scrapping up useful scraps. And with us so far away from respectability when the year began, that will be an important skill going forward if we want to shorten our stay in baseball purgatory….

Logan Webb Day! I’m really excited to see this kid pitch.

Where in the hell would we be without the Zman? Four of the best player in the lineup were not even on the radar before the season. Sabean and Sons would have recycled Ortmeir or Bowker instead. He has pulled this POS team into respectability. Let him draft, manage the scouts, decide the fences, and manage the concessions.

    OSF

Sabean and Evans won in 2014 and then just literally went into drink wine and hand out contract-mode. I thank Sabes for what he did (Evans did nothing except sit in the shadows and then fuck shit up once Sabes left) but we really do have a GM who is looped in on everything now. It’s just gonna get better from here. I’m still bummed as fuck we didn’t trade Bum and Smith but it’s not the end of the world…..

I don’t think The Dick is right, he’s favoring that oblique injury, they rushed him back to soon!
Time for my boy Jaylin Davis to join them in Wrigley!

    • Flavor said, on August 17, 2019 at 7:35 pm

they didn’t rush him, this is just who he is. This guy will never be able to stay healthy. Sucks for him. And you’re right, it’s JD-Time baby! Let’s go!

Loving the DP as the fans goes silent..

  4. zumiee said, on August 17, 2019 at 7:45 pm

Melancon got the save vs. the Dodgers tonight so I’ll give him credit for that.

  5. willedav said, on August 17, 2019 at 8:04 pm

15 hits tonite 13 singles 2 walks 1 double 1 bomb. Yah good for the kid settled down after rocky start lot of pitches.
The AZ kid Walker, 1b who just homered, now has 22 of them. Good for him but gotta wonder how many some Giants would have playing home games here.

  6. Flavor said, on August 17, 2019 at 8:05 pm

Suarez playing like a AAA player right now

    • alleykat69 said, on August 17, 2019 at 8:08 pm

Agree, he really struggles against RH , now lefties are hitting him..

    • zumiee said, on August 17, 2019 at 8:09 pm

To quote you, he’s just a guy. Nothing special.

      • Flavor said, on August 17, 2019 at 8:42 pm

i mean, he could still do basic fundamental things. Should have tagged the guy instead of trying to hit the first base bag. That’s just a lack of feeling for the game.

  7. willedav said, on August 17, 2019 at 8:06 pm

wilmer flores yeow. Guy thinks he’s Paul Goldschmidt vs. SF

  8. zumiee said, on August 17, 2019 at 8:22 pm

Flores has a bunch of hits tonight, but he’s flubbed some plays on defense.

  9. zumiee said, on August 17, 2019 at 8:24 pm

Poor Craw, he’s not joining in on the fun.

  10. Macdog said, on August 17, 2019 at 8:26 pm

Wow, now up to 18 hits. Giants really do like this ballpark.

  11. alleykat69 said, on August 17, 2019 at 8:35 pm

    Nice grab Slater!

  12. snarkk said, on August 17, 2019 at 8:35 pm

    Bergen doing a Melancon impersonation…

  13. chipower9 said, on August 17, 2019 at 8:36 pm

    Slater flashing the leather…again.

    • Flavor said, on August 17, 2019 at 8:41 pm

guy is completely underrated here, as usual. Good Stanford man who just fucking makes plays

      • snarkk said, on August 17, 2019 at 8:42 pm

He’s starting to hit, but he had some crappy glove work when he came back, particularly in Denver. Looks like he’s shrugging that off. I’d like to see him start driving the ball, the guy is too big not to have some pop…

  14. alleykat69 said, on August 17, 2019 at 8:38 pm

Gustave will close this shit out, he’s been rock solid..

  15. willedav said, on August 17, 2019 at 8:47 pm

Slater has a really high OPS including slugging, a lot of which has been done on the road but he can use the whole field and get on base. I really like him as proto 2 hole hitter.

    • willedav said, on August 17, 2019 at 8:51 pm

up to date slash line: .293/,407/.515 for .922 OPS in just under 100 ABs.

    • willedav said, on August 17, 2019 at 8:51 pm

and he racks up an assist to end the game.

  16. PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on August 17, 2019 at 8:52 pm

Yaz Pillar Slater is not a bad OF… considering how bad the OF has been…. (yes, Loo, I know you’re pining for Puig)… 🙂

  17. Macdog said, on August 17, 2019 at 8:52 pm

    Another stompin’ of the Snakes.

The Webb family brought it well tonight.

Slater showing off the arm, too! Sit down bitches!

    Series win right there!

    Tomorrow…🧹🧹🧹🧹

This Webb development is a big deal. Cueto comes back and…..

    • willedav said, on August 17, 2019 at 9:10 pm

yes. Day off Monday, 3 @ Cubs, day off Friday 2 @ A’s 2 at home vs. AZ day off. Maybe they can get by with 4 til then. After that Aug 29 starts couple week stretch with 4 vs SD 4 @ STL 3 @ LA 11 games no off days.

  21. chipower9 said, on August 17, 2019 at 9:01 pm

Thoughts on Kelli Johnson – Giants pre-and post-game?

    • zumiee said, on August 17, 2019 at 9:04 pm

She’s gotten better. She seemed kind of hyper-nervous early on.

      • chipower9 said, on August 17, 2019 at 9:07 pm

Agree. I like her. She always seems prepared and knowledgeable. I saw a short bio on her…she has been doing baseball for quite a while.

  22. PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on August 17, 2019 at 9:03 pm

Webb could be the real thing, very quickly. And we love us some Johnny Cueto just on the horizon. Outfield of Yaz Pillar Slater went 10 for 14 tonight.

  23. zumiee said, on August 17, 2019 at 9:06 pm

Morse got better, too. He told some good stories this weekend, and seemed more relaxed.

    • alleykat69 said, on August 17, 2019 at 9:22 pm

Like him better then Burrell if that means much..

  24. zumiee said, on August 17, 2019 at 9:19 pm

Crazy Wild Nats/Brewers game going on, on FS1.

  25. zumiee said, on August 17, 2019 at 9:20 pm

Dodgers’ Urias suspended for domestic violence.

    • Flavor said, on August 17, 2019 at 9:24 pm

you spend too much time worrying about them. They have a great team. Let’s just celebrate when they lose the WS again. Hopefully.

      • zumiee said, on August 17, 2019 at 9:35 pm

I don’t worry about them, but whatever.

      • zumiee said, on August 17, 2019 at 9:40 pm

I will celebrate when they get 6 more losses, though.

      • Flavor said, on August 17, 2019 at 9:46 pm

the dodgers are lame, man, I spend zero time worrying about them. All they do is fail in the end. They’re gonna finally do it at some point, maybe this year. Good for them. But I don’t give a single shit about them game to game.

    • zumiee said, on August 17, 2019 at 10:04 pm

They’re about to win the division for the 7th year in a row, so they are of relevant interest to a lot of Giants fans; but not all, certainly. I rather enjoy when they lose a game, even a regular season game.

  26. PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on August 17, 2019 at 9:25 pm

Kelli Johnson… I thought you were talking about some infield prospect the team picked up off the waiver wire…

    • chipower9 said, on August 17, 2019 at 9:45 pm

      😂

  27. snarkk said, on August 17, 2019 at 9:40 pm

    Jaylin Davis in Sac tonight.
    Another dinger…

If Webb can repeat in the next start, Beede gets bounced to Sac or to the Pen after call ups…

  29. zumiee said, on August 17, 2019 at 9:49 pm

Brewers win 15-14 in 14 innings. A pitcher had to bat at the end and struck out.

  30. snarkk said, on August 17, 2019 at 9:49 pm

Longoria keeping his bat warm really helps. That 3rd base has been a black hole for offense most of the season, save that few weeks Longo was hot before his foot trouble, now he’s warming up again…

  31. snarkk said, on August 17, 2019 at 9:51 pm

I dunno how you explain the Giants being the 3rd best road team in the NL, but crappy at home. I think they go into a mental funk when they get back to Oracle…

    • alleykat69 said, on August 17, 2019 at 10:03 pm

I know Belt feels that way, he said so in postgame on how well he likes hitting in Arizona.Hopefully we can accommodate him and send him there in the winter..

      • djloo27 said, on August 17, 2019 at 10:29 pm

They can send him to Siberia for the winter, he’s still gonna be in SF come the spring.
Him and Crawford need to get into some serious training and report next season in
shape and ready to play like savages in what will hopefully be a normal size ballpark.

  32. zumiee said, on August 17, 2019 at 9:52 pm

Jack White went for the first 3 innings, left to perform a concert, saw that the game was still going, and came back to the ballpark to watch the final innings.

      • snarkk said, on August 17, 2019 at 10:15 pm

Kat, I want the kid up, too. Big time.
But, they’ve got no room, unless somebody gets hurt. Or, the Dick has to go back on IL or something. I think worst case he’ll be up Sept 1…

  34. snarkk said, on August 17, 2019 at 10:09 pm

Webb has a damn good change up or split, whatever it is. That thing dives down like a motha’ right when it nears the plate. If he can get the pitch count down as he relaxes with more experience, he may be something here. Sorta reminds one of Cain…

  35. snarkk said, on August 17, 2019 at 10:38 pm

    2022 season outfield?…
    Jaylin Davis: LF
    Heliot Ramos: CF
    Hunter Bishop: RF
    Lil’ Yaz: 4th
    ?? : 5th
