A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Leaking Into September

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 28, 2019

MIke Leake stinks. He’s The Human White Flag. When THWF white flags you, that’s the signal. Your season is toast.

We have another day off for some reason.

Probably for the best.

IMO, if you harbored any hope of a post-season appearance, the team was toast after they got swept by the cubbies.

At least the NFL kicks-off tomorrow night, and I am firing-up my college football pool today.

Chuck, hate to tell you this, but there’s one more week of preseason.

The season starts September 5th. Packers vs Bears.

Yeah Chi had me worried a second I haven’t done my fantasy draft yet!!

    • chipower9 said, on August 28, 2019 at 9:17 am

      True…sorry for the confusion, guys.

College football DOES kick-off this week, and to honest, I would rather watch a good college football game over an NFL game. Just me…

Look at the dug out, looks like a lineup of losers; zero esprit de corps. Still have faith but still believing there is a basic problem with this term, in the front office ..

yeah that was too bad .smrdz got Cained second time in a row he’s only given up 1 run and couldn’t get a W.
18 in a row coming up Pads Cards Dodgers followed by Pirates and Marlins. Call ups to start road trip should be fun to watch over last month of season.

Jaylin Davis outfield, infield, pitch, catcher I don’t give a shit just get him up
    here and PLAY HIM!!!

For once Kruk was right when he said we were hitting the ball hard all night. We were, but that and $6.00 will get you a non-fat soy frappuccino latte. L be L.

    Win out and we’re in.

well Chi is right college football gets rolling this weekend, bunch of TV games tmw. Gotta love it.

I’m most of way through a fun if rather weird read, “Sugar” by Charley Rosen about Micheal Ray Richardson.
This guy partied his way through so many rehabs and failed tests and got confrontational with most coaches he played for. At the point where I am now he’s been thrown out of NBA by Stern and is in the CBA where he can still light guys up.

One interesting thing that did get brought up by the author was that black players who failed tests for cocaine/got into trouble seemed to be singled out for suspensions etc. at much higher rate than “known user” white players during this era. hmmnn

I wanna see this Dubon kid play SS for the rest of the games this season. Bochy is a short timer. ZMan should order Bochy to play him, if it comes to that, and sit Craw down for all but a handful of tilts…

    • blade3colorado said, on August 28, 2019 at 9:07 am

If they are worried about embarrassing Craw too much, they should put the 31 year old Solano at SS and let Dubon play 2nd base. Solano definitely deserves to start and I think Craw wouldn’t be as sensitive to the veteran replacing him versus the rookie.

Regardless, you’re right – I am tired of seeing him and the rest of the “core” starting. Is Garcia available for catching? If so, give him an extended look too. Just my take, but Posey should be shut down for the season.

      • chipower9 said, on August 28, 2019 at 9:18 am

Posey has been so bad of late, he could hit into a double play with no one on base…

      • blade3colorado said, on August 28, 2019 at 9:19 am

        lol

  7. alleykat69 said, on August 28, 2019 at 10:04 am

Yeah but Posey is Bochy’s personal bromance 👯‍♂️ to the end.Boch sees the quality 11 pitch AB as real productive like he just missed one lol 😂.He will bat 2-4 all the way to the final “Boch Core Card LU””
It will be exciting next year when whoever manages doesn’t have to deal to heavy in this pile of dogshit!
This LU is so old it’s close to “The Deceleration of CORE” oops Independence in age…

Turn out the lights…the weekend sweep of the A’s was enjoyable but excited to see this Dubon kid as much as he gets to play and should be given a lot of rope…we all know what we are waiting to see accomplished…2000!!!

  9. unca_chuck said, on August 28, 2019 at 11:12 am

30 games left in the Bochy era. If he goes 25-5 (hahaha) he would end up 2016-2015.

.500 for his career. 90-72 for the season. Postseason berth!

If he benched Posey Belt, and Crawfish it could happen.

    • alleykat69 said, on August 28, 2019 at 11:16 am

I’m up for that! But does that weaken the bench?

  10. unca_chuck said, on August 28, 2019 at 11:31 am

Been saying for a while that Jerick McKinnon would never play a down for us. He looks like he’s going back to the IR for this whole season. Again.

    Nick Bosa likely starts, though.

  11. blade3colorado said, on August 28, 2019 at 11:57 am

Unca, that’s not too far fetched. I believe they could go 25-5 if he did bench the core. That being said, I almost forgot what Willie alluded to – the next 18 games are not with schmucks, so I guess it would be quite the feat to accomplish and quite the positive exclamation for Boch’s career. I hope he does it. Go Giants!

  12. alleykat69 said, on August 28, 2019 at 12:02 pm

Smart teams would of brought up Jaylin Davis the day Dick went Dickless to the 10 day DL..
But Noooo, not the Giants way when he could of made a huge difference starting in that Cub series..

    • chipower9 said, on August 28, 2019 at 12:30 pm

The only thing I can think is that Sac wants him for the playoff push/playoffs. There just is no other logical reason.

      • unca_chuck said, on August 28, 2019 at 1:25 pm

That really doesn’t make sense either. They won’t have him till after the AAA playoffs? that could reach the 18th of Sept.

      • unca_chuck said, on August 28, 2019 at 1:26 pm

I think they just feel like there’s no spot for him.

  13. unca_chuck said, on August 28, 2019 at 12:11 pm

Yeah, they should have made him the focus of the offense once Dick went soft.

    • alleykat69 said, on August 28, 2019 at 1:40 pm

Which is why the Giants look like fools, not calling him up earlier.Who gives a Rats Ass about a minor league championship?which goes till the 18th depriving him of more AB’s and development. This kid could be playing CF right now, the scouts all project that he can handle it. Giants are just using a lame excuse that are current OF is doing a great job and theirs no room for him.

One of the young programmers who works for me got four tickets to Saturday’s River Cat game (he doesn’t follow baseball at all). Johnny Shimmy will be making his final rehab start. Not sure I would go, otherwise. Report to follow…

    • unca_chuck said, on August 28, 2019 at 1:19 pm

If I was still in Roseville, I’d do it. But alas . . .

      • chipower9 said, on August 28, 2019 at 2:19 pm

Going to take a couple of guys I hang with at the local brewery. All big Giants fans, and none of them that well off financially, so, it will be a treat for them. Should be a fun time.

    • unca_chuck said, on August 28, 2019 at 1:44 pm

How far outside of Placerville are you, Chuck?

      • chipower9 said, on August 28, 2019 at 2:17 pm

We live in Placerville. If you are ever in the area Charlie, give me a buzz, and if I’m around you can swing-by and we’ll grab a beer, etc.

That is true for any of you Flappers who happen to be going up or down Highway 50 to or from Tahoe.

Good to have you back and posting, Chi…

Not being to win at home SUCKS!

  16. alleykat69 said, on August 28, 2019 at 7:29 pm

Geez the Giants released RHP Carlos Torres?
Yeah some old CORE guy at 36, guess that’s a plus their trying to get younger lol 😂

  17. Flavor said, on August 28, 2019 at 8:22 pm

Brandon Belt is hitting .198 at home this year
    That is all…..

  18. unca_chuck said, on August 28, 2019 at 8:56 pm

    29-35 at home is abysmal.

If they played even .500 at home they’d be 3 games out. If they played as well at home as they are on the road, they’d be IN the 2nd wild card spot.
