Tedious Weekend
The Marlins. Ugh. This is definitely not turning into a September to remember. How many more wins till Boch gets to 2K and GH creams himself? Five?
Black Shoes goes tonight.

Never a big Eddie Money fan, but funny thing was I saw him at Winterland on tour with Robin Trower of all people. Must have been a year or 2 before he hit it big.
He was like Y & T. He played the SF club scene for years before finally getting national recognition.
Yeah, not a big Eddie Money fan, but RIP. I think he opened for the Grateful Dead once…NOT.
Should be a warm night. I sense black shoes and battered balls. Gonna be a bloodbath.
Looks like I didn’t miss much yesterday. Did a wonderful hike in the Sierras, that while a tough-ass hike, was I’m sure, much more entertaining than yesterday’s loss.
I did just see a couple of replays on Dubon’s swipe tag, and also him coyly enticing the runner to try and take 3rd (from 1st on a hit-and-run), where Dubon’s throw to Longo cut the runner down by a mile. Love this kid’s moxie and baseball IQ.
and I love yours…
Well a good heads up play by Dubon, but one of the dumbest base running plays I’ve ever seen.It was a ground ball to second and the guy on 1st was trying to go to 3rd??Oh wait who was that stupid Giant that Miller said was the worst base running he’s ever seen in the history of the game? Rivera?? I know Loo would remember it was epic failure!!
Yes, I believe the play your refer to, that Miller called the dumbest base-running gaff ever, was Rivera.
But I think that it was equally, if not more, Dubon’s IQ that made that play. He totally deeked the runner, with his pause, into thinking he was going to throw to 1st. Smart play by the kid, IMO.
sandog, I’m not sure what you’re official position is regarding Horchata but considering the animation it seems like there’s a real missed opportunity here. Could’ve been some Toomgis on cup action at least.
Super bummed Eddie money died. Not a big fan but two tickets to paradise was one of the first songs I remember rockin’ to as a young big flavor just trying to find his way in the world of rock and roll.
Yeah like I said I saw him many times from Winterland to Santa Cruz Boardwalk& the last time just a few years ago at the Shark Tank with my daughter, free tickets courtesy of I Heart rádio where she works and was putting on the gig.It was 80’s turn back the clock. No judgement please lol 😂 but these were the bands:U-B40, New Kids on the Block(Donnie Walhberg) Jefferson Starship,Eddie Money,Night Ranger( great band) Rick Astley and another band I forgot their name that does Land down Under and Red Wine I believe? Each Band played like 3 songs each then they setup for the next act..Eddie Money I believed was alittle sauced that night on some of his lyrics, but hey he’s earned it over the years, still a good overall fun night with my daughter slamming some tall ones 🍺
Men at Work was the band I couldn’t think 🤔 of, their big hit was A Land down Under..
I wish I could go back and do it all over, but I can’t go back, I know.
2000, A Boch Odyssey…
I’m super down with horchata Dirt.
Horchata themed toomgis gear would be the best
Ok, looks like I would probably recognize more E Money songs if I heard them, I’m not great on song names. I read some stuff on him, sounds like a good dude…
“Shakin’” has some nice guitar power-chording going on in it, and demonstrates his strengths as a vocalist.
The song video is amusing, with a silly storyline that basically goes nowhere (which describes a lot of music videos.)
That’s about the only song I liked of his. ANd the video is sweeeeet.
Feel the same about Billy Joel. Just never could get into his stuff.
Her tits were shakin’ till the middle of the night.
Fuck yeah they were.
Eddie was very good at mumbling that line but I knew what he was talking about!
Baseball these days: Cubs 5, Pirates 4….in the first inning!
The old 6/3 quality start is now an epic performance.
They should change that stat to 4/2…
Chi or anyone:
The website of the Clearwater County Jail in Minny where our old comrade incredibly languishes says that they accept mailed letters for their inmates (BTW, there’s only about 10 total).
I tried calling to see if they’ll accept a package of books, but couldn’t get a live person on the phone.
Paranoid New Yorkers don’t leave callback numbers with these kinda joints. Anybody know the answer?

This is great information. Great photo of Stix.
Absolutely awesome…
Thank God it wasn’t him…
Paul Ryan?
Absolutely fantastic, zum…
What possible good can come from playing Vogt in LF this time of year?
1. Mike Yastrzemski (L) RF
2. Brandon Belt (L) 1B
3. Evan Longoria (R) 3B
4. Stephen Vogt (L) LF
5. Kevin Pillar (R) CF
6. Buster Posey (R) C
7. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
8. Mauricio Dubon (R) 2B
9. Tyler Beede (R) P
Just because it’s Bochy and he can’t help himself.
“Long Live The Core”
Just because it’s Bochy and he can’t help himself.
“Long Live The Core”
And that was so exciting of a LU I double posted, sorry…
But whoa stop the presses, Buster batting 6th that’s a 1st, the lowest he’s batted ALL YEAR!
Only took 150 games are so.Wonder if Posey might have said drop me down I stink..
“Joe, you better send someone in for me. I can’t make it anymore.”
Unfrickingbelievable! Dodgers with another unknown (Gavin Lux) whom maybe Zum has mentioned. Regardless, he was unknown to me . . . Anywho, he hit a 3 run bomb against Thor and now the Dodgers lead the Mets 4-1. I was really hoping that the Mets would make short work of Kershaw like the Giants did last week. Not happening.
he’s one of their top prospects.
Not a big fan of him, but guitar fills on “Trinidad” were great. I think the Lux guy was who Pirates demanded that LA wouldn’t give up in return for closer.
Hey there’s 8 spots on Giants pitching staff next season up for grabs. More Beede can do to secure one the better.
17-8 final in cubs pirates game. Yanks lost a game to Detroit 12-11 where they hit 6 bombs. Since ML baseball is starting to resemble slo pitch softball, getting guys out when they do hit ball on the ground somewhere is very important. Hope Dubon is real deal defensively; looks good so far.
Not ever much of a hitter but always dug Jose Uribe. Olden days SS wasn’t a power spot, most teams didn’t mind how much a guy hit as long as glove was solid.
He did bat .290 one year.
Eddie fit the 70s pretty well and this song is, well, *money*. A half drunk/stoned Money on stage rockin’ out, telling a pretty good story too.
RIP my man.
Can’t they put Solano in LF?
Long live the corpse.
Tell ya one thing, it amazes me that guys who play baseball for a living, a game that consists of running around and diving for balls, sliding into base, and such, get hurt doing just that,
Just my opinion, but I think in general, of the 4 top major league sports in the US, baseball players are the least “in shape”…
Maybe it’s a lost art because Pillar dives all the time and doesn’t get hurt. Mac bumps into a padded wall and is out for th season. Yaz seems to know the secret.
Just that warning track blast by Posey will get Bochy’s juices flowing to move him back up in the LU tomorrow..2-4??
Back in my Boston days, I went to a lot of Bruins games at the old Garden since I lived so nearby in the North End. I always found it fairly amusing to see one of the players catch a slapshot in the face, go into the locker room, and come back out to play with 20 stitches. Something like that would’ve landed a Sox player on the DL for 15 days…
Nobody’s tougher then Hockey players! Shit back in the early 60’s the goalies didn’t even where a mask (wtf 100 mph off your face? no thanks, along with the rest.Lots of stitches &missing teeth just standard back then..
Somewhere I still have a photo of me and Cam Neely, great hockey player, at a Terry Fox walk/run event for cancer (Cam’s sister had cancer, he was very active in the community). He was sporting a huge black eye. I asked him where he got it; he just smiled. “Yeah, happens all the time in my profession….”…
Miller and Kruk were hilarious describing Vogt’s “banana route” to that fly ball. Vogt funny as well.
Miami should be ashamed for trading Yelich. Teams like that give MLB competition a bad name. None of those 4 zeros traded to the Marlins have done jack shit.
Beede getting skittish after the IF single.
or not.
Buster can’t be hidden anywhere in the line up.
Only “watching” on MLB Gameday… I play a little game when it flashes the result (in Buster’s case, “out”), trying to guess how the out was made before the details come up. Looked at the pitch location graphic, figured “groundball to short, double play”, and sure enough. Damn. Painfully predictable…
His first AB was almost to the center field wall. That’s his reality today. Sad.
Posey ought to retire before he does real damage to his legacy…
I checked Stix’ link to the hoosegow, and his details.
Shoot, convicted or pled out on charge of 25+ kilos of dope or over 100 plants? Pretty impressive farming…
lulz. Yeah, out of the dozen or so mugs on that page, Stix’s rap sheet is only trumped by the guy who was in jail because of 2nd degree murder.
Wazzu under Mike Leach at it again. Last year wide open spread O with Gardner Minshew, this year QB Anthony Gordon from Terra Nova HS in Pacifica. already TD pass to Easop Winston from Serra and CCSF and one to Dezmon Patmon from Patrick Henry of SD. Fun team to watch 320 yds passing here in 3rd Q.
I’m with wilco college football just more entertaining than Giants, kids or not.
Of course it has to bounce into the stands.
And the ground out.
Unbelievable bad luck. I can’t believe that fucking sequence. Pfffttt! No runs.
Vogt having a nice game after all.
Why does Posey seem to be the one batting whenever we need a hit? Or a ball out of the IF?
Snuck one through!
Thanks to the drawn in infield, Buster’s grounder results in an RBI. We’ll take it!!!!
Dude is out. Props to Buster. That has to be overturned.
stealing on a 2-0 count?
That squeaker will move him back up tomorrow, book it..
Buster can still play good D….
Definitely, and good at managing the game…
His stick is just damned near non-existent. Fell off measurably, and fast.
Playing around .500 ball was a good goal for the Giants this year, managed a bit of time at that level. I hadn’t looked at the standings in a while. Not that anybody here cares about the Red Sox, but they’re 7 games over .500 and 19 out of the division and 9.5 out of the 2nd WC. Tough crowd over there in the AL….
2 games over .500 was their high-water mark, iirc.
9 hits. 1 run.
Now THAT was a quick at-bat.
Only Buster’s was quicker.
Anderson is looking pretty slick as the closer. And Beede guts out a tough win.
In the bank. Clint will be pleased.
1997.
Nice W. Black Shoes with another nice start. Good relief, too. While limited, I’m liking Anderson closing.
Anderson &Gustave can fight it out for the closer role ST..
Hey, Beede 6.1 and only one run.
Progress.
Maybe he’s starting to get the mind set, the feel for how to do this…
It was the Marlins, let’s not forget..
True, but give him props . . . Remember, he kicked the Dodgers and Kershaw’s ass too and that was last week.
Playing these young guys all September looks like it is paying dividends in experience, and figuring out their possible roles for next season…
Beede getting it done!
On a night when the only guy capable of driving in a run, which happens to be the one that won the game, continues to be victim of further opprobrium, I’m going diametrically opposite.
Yes, as a good friend told me today, the negativity is “Tedious.” I think the Giants 2019 season has been tremendous. There are new faces everywhere, acquisitions haven been great and prospects continue to look good in minors. After 2 disappointing months Giants rebounded, hit with some power, got stellar pitching/D and got back into real contention for WC.
Top it all off with the Flap meet up—which featured $100+ bar bill of pregame fu, in game battle royal fu over a baseball and a postgame wrap up nitecap fu at different local watering hole.
there was a Posey near bomb within foot or so to dead RF and a soaring blast over our heads from Big Dick.
And everyone got home safe and sound.
This has been a good year and nothing but Positive Vibrations as brutha bob marley said so well for next year.
POSITIVE!
I wish I could be a California Flapaloozaler.
Ain’t happenin’ – Visit me in Brooklyn…
