Dubon and Yaz
Yesterday, Marty Lurie was debating with his harem about who might be the starting second baseman next season. They all seemed to circle around the idea of it being Dubon. This took a few minutes for them to all sign off on.
Seriously, who else would it be? They never even mentioned Solano but I guess it could be him. Why wouldn’t we just trot Dubon out there? There’s literally no reason.
Exciting set of games in Boston, probably more exciting for their fans then for ours. Yaz returns, in a sense. I hope his grand dad will be at these games though I haven’t seen that confirmed yet.
I’d take Solano at 2nd an Dubon at SS. Sure he’s old, but he hits.
#metoo. I just don’t see how we get rid of Crawford.
D F A . . .Fuck it. They need to napalm that bridge. No looking back.
The easiest way to get out of 2 bad deals is trade Belt, eat as little as possible, and just jettison Crawfish. If they can do that before April, I’ll be happy as hell.
I’m pretty psyched about Yaz in Fenway. I’m sure the fans will be, too. Pretty special moment for us long-time fans,
ah Dubon/Solano as starting middle IF DP combo could happen though Solano as a full time guy could be in for some serious regression from numbers he’s put up this season. And you’d still need a back up for Longo at 3b. Interesting tho. Giants have IF guys in pipeline, couple years away.
I still think the “we’re going in different direction” msg gets delivered to Craw by next mgr. and they front idea his PT will be severely limited. At that point it’s up to him on NT clause. Either way I think he’s back at bottom of LU.
Dirt was pretty funny last night re: Amici’s, couple legit LOLs. Not much of pizza eater but one my asst. coach buddy used to like was pizza Chicago on el camino near Lawrence in Sunnyvale/Santa Clara behind Fish Mkt restaurant. Thicker crust style. Small place but filled with Chicago memorabilia on the walls–Ditka Jordan Wrigley yada yada.
Posey, Crawford and Belt could become the 3 most expensive late inning defensive replacements in history…
Thumbs up
Yaz was beyond incredible in 1967. Absolutely put the team on his back.
As everyone knows he won the TC but Killebrew actually tied him with 44 HRS…
Nobody misses Panik.
Craw will be the same. Yeah, he’s got a glove, but that’s headed downhill.
Another Mark Belanger at SS on a team that already can’t hit is something that can’t continue…
I wonder if this is something ownership will notice: The front of today’s Sporting Green has two stories on the Niners, two on the Raiders, and one on the A’s. No mention at all of the Giants, not even a tease to turn to whatever inside page their stories are on. Mid-September, and for one day anyway the Giants are irrelevant regarding Bay Area sports.
did you watch any of the games this weekend? Did anyone? I’m curious to get a realistic idea of how many fans actually clicked the turnstiles?
Saw very little Friday, a little Saturday and none yesterday, though followed on phone.
I love Amichi’s but recognize it might not be for everyone. Question: in terms of pizza chains, what Bay Area pizza spot do you prefer?
Sounds like Flap winter has begun.
I think as a group we have failed Stix, except for Chi.
I can’t live with myself much longer…
Don’t say that shit Loo . . . We all love you. Same goes for everyone here.
Regarding Stix, I have been remiss too. I need to contact him. I remember my road trip back to the mid-West, South, and East coast, where I was able to meet Mac and Bozo for the first time. I was also able to see two ex-girlfriends in South Carolina, as well as relatives along the way in Missouri and Pennsylvania. Anywho, I was in Kansas near the beginning of the trip and had to make a decision, do I drive up North to Minnesota and visit Stix or continue to Missouri and visit my uncle and extended family there (whom I hadn’t seen in literally decades)??? I spoke with Stix on the phone and he welcomed me to his home, albeit, I would be sleeping on the floor with a bunch of “pussy.” The other alternative was a motel that looked like it was modeled from the Bates Motel in the movie Psycho. Umm . . . I decided to continue southwest to Missouri. Easy choice actually.
I will continue my chant to “FREE STIX” even if bum fuck Minnesota won’t listen!
Like the Giants countdown to ST by Chi, I will do a countdown for Stix’s release 255 days? till he walks a free man!
Pizza 🍕 pies!!
Frankie,Johnnie,&Lugi in Mountain View always been great going back 40 years now!
Blue Line Pizza in San Carlos where my daughter use to work was excellent, great thin are deep dish plus fantastic chicken wings! Loved all the free pizza and wings she use to bring home for free..
Rainbow 🌈 Pizza in San Mateo very tasty as well..
Vesta in Redwood City makes a excellent pizza with honey on it, sure tastes heavenly..
Original Toto’s in San Bruno is hard to beat as well..
Windy City Pizza 🍕 also tastes great in San Mateo..
2 more in San Carlos..Nino’s and Xapati ( sp) good too..
I feel bad for Stix but he did all this to himself. He’ll be fine he’s in the home stretch. Picking up the pieces of his life when he gets out will probably be his biggest challenge. I hope he still has his property.
I think Stix has to live with his sister or some shit upon his release.
Yeah, we should all send him stuff. He told me a while back he wants Giants minor league stats. I think we should all just sned all kinds of minor league info.
As far as chains go, Round Table still wins for me. No one does a crust like they do. Soggy flappy crusts suck. Deep dish just is too much. Their crust is crisp without being too thick and their tomato sauce isn’t sickenly sweet. That being said Zachary’s in Berkeley is solid. Paxchi’s in Lafayette is good, but takes 45 minutes to get, and will make you gain 12 lb.
I always dug the pizza place next to Rasputin’s records in The City. I think they had locations in Berkeley and Concord as well.
I remember Rasputin’s in Berkeley…where was it in the City???
Laval’s?
Blondie’s?
Blondie’s that’s the one!
I remember that place being pretty good and you could write on the walls if you wanted iirc.
I am hoping Dubon works out to be lead-off material and we can bring in some bats via free agency next couple of years…
And opening day second baseman…
I’m looking for Crawford to hit the gym, drop some weight/retool this off-season and come into camp in the best shape of his life.
If we’re talking minor league pizza chains, I’d put Pizza My Heart above Amicci’s. Hell, Fast Pizza™ in Mountain View is better.
Pizza My Heart is terrible. Clearly, there are different taste buds at work here.
I thought we were talking terrible pizza so I looked for the appropriate analogy to Amicci’s.
I don’t think you’re ordering right at amichis. Some day I will guide you.
Craw needs to cut his hair. I know that sounds stupid but I think it’s true.
I think it’s the gel that needs to go, not necessarily the hair…
Lurie is nuts if he even has 2nd guesses about Dubon in the mix next year! Shit this team needs to get more athletic and faster. They are easily the slowest team in baseball! Screw the station to station theory, you need 1st to 3rd on a basehit.
Their fastest players right now are Davis,Dubon,Slater,Duggar (when ever healthy)Pillar,Yaz, yet good old boy Boch constantly kept slow turds 💩 Belt&Posey at the top of the order mostly all year Killin any chance of their few speed guys to be effective…
It was mostly those 2 dopey chicks that lurie coaxes thru the show. I can’t believe they get paid a dime
Ah, so that’s the harem you referred to.
I watched all the Giants games this past weekend. There are lots of folks still watching all the games this season. Even boring baseball is still baseball. The long winter without baseball is coming.
Cue up the Beatles “The long and winding road”
Well maybe Z will keep the winter exciting with some more moves, the past under Sabes/Evans completely ignored..
God, I hate that song. That’s Paul at his schmaltzy schlocky worst.
Sorry, I like the Beatles, but some of their stuff just makes me nauseous.
I was busy all weekend (as I have been since I got back from California), but still caught bits and pieces. No furniture in my home, so spent the last couple of days at a friend’s home and he is a big football fan, so watched the Eagles/Falcons game last night. Admittedly, it was a good game, where the offenses didn’t overshadow the defenses; and the refs for the most part, let the players play the game. I would be down with more games like that.
Yeah that was a good game Blade, but with so many injuries (especially the Eagles) they should get a double wide trailer on the sidelines now for players evaluations..
Blade, it has been a really insane season so far. There have been insanely bad calls, innumerable PI replays, and games like the Niners game which resembled actual normal games. Fortunately we haven’t had any game-altering bad calls. Yet.
Watched another snore fest last night Charlie. Jets showing they are going to challenge the Pats in their division. NOT! AGAIN!
Amazing that the Monday night football puts on a garbage game like they did last night.
We’re here yammering about Dubon and Yaz; meanwhile LA has Buehler, Bellinger, Seager, Muncy, Turner, Pederson, Pollock and their new C Will Smith, who looks like a player. Giants have a ways to go…
don’t forget Lux
Sorry. There’s too many of ’em…
Bu they are still 0-30.
After having been in the Beatles for about 12 years, the 27 (!) year old Paul McCartney sat down and wrote “The Long and Winding Road,” a song that serves as a kind of goodbye song for the Beatles. It’s a song that continues to move people emotionally. The better versions of the song are the ones without the heavy string section and choral background wall of sound that Phil Spector added to the final version on the “Let It Be” album. There are some bare simple recordings of it out there that highlight its strengths as a song, like this version:
I look at Paul’s face in this video and I’m reminded of what ALL the Beatles said after the break-up of the band. They were just completely exhausted physically, mentally, and spiritually. They had worked really hard and left an amazing legacy in a relatively short time. They just flat-out needed rest. John later sang about it in his song “Watching The Wheels.”
“I’m just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round
I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry-go-round
I just had to let it go”
I always thought that song referred to his 5-year hiatus before the Double Fantasy album.
Yeah, his five year break from the music business. He had stayed pretty busy from ‘70-‘75, without a big break from the Beatles years. Some of the early ‘70s was spent battling to not be deported from the U.S. from a fraudulent marijuana charge in England. The Nixon administration wanted him out because he was an effective war protestor against the Vietnam War.
A’s take the lead in the 8th on a single at the 40.
