Trent Buckner
Wow! What a way to kick off the post season. I feel horrible for Brewers fans who now have their very own Billy Buckner moment to carry with them for eternity. Between Hader overthrowing everything and Grisham acting like a little leaguer it was a great reminder that the pressures of tournament baseball are enormous and can take down anyone at any time……
Tampa Bay and Oakland should be intriguing just on the small market match up alone–although hearing the A’s whine about being a small market team is a bit of a joke.
Melvin will try, I suspect, to string Manaea, Luzardo and Hendriks together into some type of dominating 3 headed monster. Luzardo is one of the most fun pitchers to watch in all of baseball. Electric only begins to describe his stuff. He’s working with damn near sorcery out there. I suppose Fiers could follow Manaea but if I were Melvin I’d roll Luzardo out there and save Fiers for Houston.
I’m expecting a low scoring game so that means it will probably be 10-7….
Yeah I think the pressure of his 1st playoff game got to Trent Buckner. His route to the ball was around the White House.Hader was all over the place especially high(easy to lay off)just the opposite of are old boy Pomegranate who was lights out and had a era of 1.99 for the Crew after the trade, go figure?
Brilliant move by Martinez going with Strasburgh to replace an ineffective Scherzer to keep them close by throwing 3 strong innings. No tomorrow so you really had no choice..
Just for a statement of facts….the Brewer right-fielder took a detour to the Anacostia…the White House is the other way:)
I mentioned yesterday that Scherzer is just not the same dominant pitcher and ballsy managerial play by Martinez going with Hudson to close….something Dusty would never have done or thought of…
What a bad hop…Nats may have broken the jinx and now primed to pull off the upset over the SmelLA Flodgers…funny if they have Yelich out there, he would have fielded the ball with his left hand so the bad bounce would have at worst bounced off him most likely preventing that third run, well at least at that moment.
No question now that without Yelich the Nats are far more the dangerous team to the Flodgers…
Hey Flav — hockey starts tonight! Four games, including the Sharks at Vegas.
Ugh. Lame.
A closing note on the Giants season:
1. They exceeded my guess of 70 wins by a few games. Got to thank Zman for that.
2. I don’t know how long it’s going to take to be competitive, but compared to this year’s playoff teams we have a long way to go.
3. Bart has to saddle up next year, move Posey to 1st, trade Belt.
4. Give Longoria a load of vitamins and hope he can hold down 3rd base.
5. Sort through the dumpster for a couple of starters.
6. Bum and Crawford….??? and sigh.
7. Steal Joe Madden from the rest of the league.
ALSO:
1. What are the Warriors doing releasing Iggy and doing little else?
2. 49rs are a premier WR to be a good team.
3. Fear the Duck!
Take it EZ Chuck and the rest of you this winter.
OSF
A) Posey at 1st is a horrible idea. Again, Belt was bad enough, but he’s a better defender by far than Posey, and Posey’s numbers were far below what Belt provided in home runs and RBIs.
B) Posey isn’t going to magically bang out 25 home runs just by not squatting.
C) Posey is our part-time catcher until he quits or the contract ends.
D) Fuck Joe Maddon
E) The Warriors have 6 returning players from last year’s squad. Steph, Klay, Draymond, Looney, Lee, and Jacob Evans, and McKinnie.
Bell, Bogut, Cook, Cousins, Derrickson, Durant, Iggy, Jerebko, and Livingston have left.
F) 49ers are fine at WR once Hurd is available. He is gonna be a stud.
That was a bit of a seal clubbing…
you should have added that Bart is no where near ready and the Warriors added WCS and D-Angelo Russell, 2 fantastic adds considering the guys they lost
Stan, the Dubs have severe luxury tax issues if they do anything further…
Charlie Morton hitting 98??? What is he on???
Rays are just lightning up Manaea with 3 Bombs 💣
and now he’s gone 4-0!!
Come on, A’s.
It must be my OCD or personality disorder but I absolutely hate how ESPN cranks the audio volume when the ball crosses the plate with the hope that they get a home run sound. I think Fox does it too.
Drives me fucking batty.
If you didn’t see it, the Giants are permanently removing the bullpen mounds.

I think Mac will eventually file a lawsuit…
A’s need to pull this one out.
If not, their choke artist rep in the post-season just keeps on keeping’ on…
Can’t see these games, but watched the highlights video from yesterday’s game on YouTube. Was that TBS covering the game? I was a bit stunned at how horrible the announcers seemed to be (at least just on the highlights). Those 2 Brewers homers in the first inning, the guys were already in their HR trots between 1st and 2nd before the announcer even knew it was a homer. WTF.

Thanks, Loo!
I might be in the minority here, but I really dig these A’s uni’s.
With ya all the way, WJ…
I may be in a minority, not sure.
But on the rare occasion I listen on radio to an A’s game, like now, I find Ken Korach to be just boring ass…
Can’t spell Adios without A’s.
It looks like Pomeranz resurrected his career as a reliever in Milwaukee. In 25 appearances, he had a 2.29 ERA. He also pitched 2 scoreless innings last night. As a free agent next season, he’ll be in demand.
The Rays dumped the Longoria contract onto the Giants, and the Rays are a playoff team, and the Giants aren’t.
Well played, Rays. Well played.
I heard on the radio during the game that of all the playoff teams, the Rays have the most players acquired via trade.
1st team in 30 years to make NLDS with lowest payroll. Morton now 3-0 in winner take all games. 1st ever to do so. Of course WC means a lot more chances, but still..pretty impressive
Rocky Marciano was undefeated in winner take all boxing matches…
DJ, you are right about the TBS broadcast. Terrible. The runs scored and they go to commercial. I figured a pitching change. They go back to the game and the Brewers were up. No idea how that 3rd out happened.
