“Niners, Come Out and PLAAAY”

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 13, 2019

Focus is on NFL today. We are in “rare”-charted waters out here. The Niners had their run with Harbaugh but that feels like a million years ago. And the Super Bowl era feels like a billion years ago. It’s fun to get excited about football again….

Stud alert in Houston. Verlander vs Big Maple. Will watch if I’m not too worn out from football….

Four leg $25 parlay going with Ravens, Cowboys, Seahawks, and Chargers. I know shit about football, but my buddy and I hung with a heavyweight (at least to me) bettor all day yesterday, i.e., he suggested this ticket to me and he was winning so much in college football, I said, “why not?” Dude was betting thousands on baccarat, black jack, horses, and football.

I won a couple hundred in blackjack. Small potatoes to what this guy was doing.

@Zum—Chuck is right, Elmore Leonard was really good. I’ve read almost all of them, LaBrava Maximum Bob Swag yada yada along with the ones made into movies. good stuff in different settings—Detroit, Florida also the Fed Marshal Raylan givens (iirc on name). Quick reads, funky plots, great characters. Good stuff.

David Freese retired. Man, it seemed like the Giants couldn’t get that guy out.

  5. willedav said, on October 13, 2019 at 10:15 am

    Tremendous play by Tyreek Hill.
yes Zum Freese killed SF. Would have fit perfectly here too as IF back up if he hadn’t resigned with LA. Hope Z can find someone like that, under radar vet that could bring some RH power to help out 3b and 1b.

Chiefs just don’t look like team that can win big one and knock off Pats and overcome history. Too many mistakes, dumb penalties and issues on both sides of ball with running game. Fun to watch but idk Reid doesn’t seem like he has them under control.

    • alleykat69 said, on October 13, 2019 at 12:01 pm

Agree, their running game is not cutting it, and to many stupid penalties, holding, offsides by the NT?
Yeah that was a great and needed catch by Hill since he’s on my fantasy team and 1st start since his collarbone injury..Mahomes ankle looks dicey too, can’t move on it..

      • willedav said, on October 13, 2019 at 12:15 pm

Ha there’s your guy Kat. Hill scores Chiefs regain lead.

  7. willedav said, on October 13, 2019 at 12:13 pm

Browns had 2 TD lead they’ve pissed away vs. Seattle. First Mayfield throws int in the endzone and D gives up late TD, now Chubb fumbles when they were in FG range. Arrggh

  8. willedav said, on October 13, 2019 at 12:23 pm

Carlos Hyde with 100 yds already in 3rd Q for Texans.

  9. alleykat69 said, on October 13, 2019 at 12:58 pm

To bad Hyde didn’t string that many games together for the 49ers.Though he just wasn’t a Shanny player for versatility I assume..
    Yeah big game for Hill!!!
Also have McLaurin for Skins who has 2TD’s today!

  10. willedav said, on October 13, 2019 at 1:29 pm

Dante sighting. rare but exciting and they score on next play.

    • willedav said, on October 13, 2019 at 1:30 pm

or maybe not knee might have hit first.

  11. unca_chuck said, on October 13, 2019 at 2:14 pm

    Nice goal line stand!

  12. unca_chuck said, on October 13, 2019 at 2:29 pm

    Jesus.Gould sucks.

  13. willedav said, on October 13, 2019 at 3:09 pm

another Dante sighting. Need 6 more right here.

    • willedav said, on October 13, 2019 at 3:10 pm

and another super grab but that won’t count.

  14. willedav said, on October 13, 2019 at 3:11 pm

oh man coleman was wide open. If that winds up costing them the game that would suck.

  15. unca_chuck said, on October 13, 2019 at 3:13 pm

    Catch the damn ball.

    • willedav said, on October 13, 2019 at 3:19 pm

isn’t the first one G has missed badly on right at goal line today.
Wasn’t gonna hex them, but that stat they just posted–rams have same total yds for entire rest of game as they had on that first drive.

    • unca_chuck said, on October 13, 2019 at 4:07 pm

Not that hard a catch though.

  16. alleykat69 said, on October 13, 2019 at 3:56 pm

Saleh is Ballin with this Defense!
    Now Jimmy”Hospital Ward”is making plays!
Rams are totally confused,as Shanny clearly out coaching McVay…

    • willedav said, on October 13, 2019 at 4:02 pm

yeah good for him poor guy gets hurt all the time finally gets chance to make some plays.

  17. willedav said, on October 13, 2019 at 4:02 pm

and down he goes another sack and Rams have to punt.
Run the clock out and score put these guys away.

  18. unca_chuck said, on October 13, 2019 at 4:09 pm

Criminy. Leaving these guys time and time and time.

  19. unca_chuck said, on October 13, 2019 at 4:10 pm

The turtling up with the play calling is concerning. Then again, the last time Jimmy tried to throw he fumbled.

  20. unca_chuck said, on October 13, 2019 at 4:21 pm

    5-0 ! ! !

  21. Macdog said, on October 13, 2019 at 4:59 pm

Francesa made two NFL picks on Friday, and one was the Rams, so I knew the Niners had this one all the way.

  22. Flavor said, on October 13, 2019 at 5:33 pm

Not sold on Jimmy G. He’s ok. Our defense has been the things that’s kept us in games and won us games. Time for Gorgeous Gimmy to step up

  23. alleykat69 said, on October 13, 2019 at 6:02 pm

Jimmy should do alright next week against a Redskin team that , and a owner who might suck as much as Mark Davis, só 6-0 looks real good imo..

  24. zumiee said, on October 13, 2019 at 6:26 pm

Their racist name is a bad vibe that helps drag the Washington team down. They should change the name, invite some Native Americans to be there for the official changing of the name, and fully embrace doing the right thing. All the good will of that move could give the team a boost of positive energy.

    • Flavor said, on October 13, 2019 at 6:29 pm

not sure how much the name is *dragging the team down* but I agree it’s time to change it as well as get rid of that idiotic chop in Atlanta.

      • djloo27 said, on October 13, 2019 at 6:38 pm

It’s gotta go in KC, too.
        Along with their defense…

    • Macdog said, on October 13, 2019 at 6:32 pm

The meddling, incompetent owner probably has more to do with the Redskins’ struggles than the racist name.

    A fed up Dodger fan:

    Michael N. Norris
    October 12, 2019 at 7:55 pm
“As most knowledgeable fans know, good pitching beats good hitting and the Nats had that this series. Their big game guys pitched better than ours save Buehler who did his job. Ryu pitched well in game 3, and gave them the series lead, but not having anyone who could match Scherzer in game 4 they were forced into a game 5 against a guy who totally shut them down in game 2. They got to Strasburg, and then Roberts brought in Kershaw and the whole season went down the drain. He should have went to Maeda who was pitching better than anyone else in the pen. Maeda closed the doors after Kershaw blew the lead, but then Roberts made his worst decision and sent Kelly back out for a second inning and season over just like that. Of course, if it had been a day game where the ball flies better Smith might well have had a walkoff in the bottom of the 9th, but it did not happen and that was that. Their powerful, but flawed offense stopped producing after the 2nd inning. Game, set, match and Dodger fans for the 32nd season in a row are left with a bitter taste in their mouths and enough anger to generate power for all of California. There are some fans who are chiding those of us who have seen enough of Doc’s mis handling of the bullpen in a crisis situation, and who are trying to spin the magical season scenario because the team set all kinds of team records. Granted, there were plenty of exciting moments. The maturity that the kids showed bodes well for the future. And they have some pretty good pieces to build with. Does that make up for the angst caused by another melt down? Not even. I have watched this team win and lose for over 60 years. I am as die hard a Dodger fan as anyone out there. I am totally fed up with having to watch another team win the world series. I am sick and tired of the 3 true outcome approach to hitting, tired of shifts, which led directly to some rally’s that cost them games, totally tired of pitchers who cannot get past the 6th inning and relievers who walk batters that turn into winning runs simply because they have no conception where the damn strike zone is. And I am totally fed up with an ownership who allows the guy running the team to pack it with fringe or less than premium talent when they are making money hand over foot and then raising the ticket prices every year since they have been here to watch failure after failure. And I am tired of them not signing players who would actually make a difference and going for the cheap fix.”

    • djloo27 said, on October 13, 2019 at 7:15 pm

Nice to see a completely idiotic pitching change backfire on the Yanks…

      • Macdog said, on October 13, 2019 at 7:19 pm

        Over-managing at its finest.

  26. Flavor said, on October 13, 2019 at 7:21 pm

Niners are looking at starting the season 8-0. Oh my. And don’t give me any bullshit about jinxes unless you’re prepared to tell me you also believe in the tooth fairy and easter bunny.

  27. unca_chuck said, on October 13, 2019 at 7:54 pm

The beauty of the next game is you KNOW Shanny wants to stomp the shit out of the Redskins. This ain’t no trap game, or a game they look past. Kyle wants to rub Danny’s nose in it. To think 4 years ago they had Shanny and Sean McVay as assistant coaches on the Skins.

  28. unca_chuck said, on October 13, 2019 at 8:19 pm

Jimmy had 2 bad plays. The pick in the end zone and the fumble in the 4th quarter. Either one could have been killer, but since we are so banged up on the O line, I’ll give him a little slack. Well, that and a couple missed passes. Say what you will but Coleman should have caught the ball on the goal line. Goodwin dropped a sweet deep ball, and the O wasn’t spectacular, but it didn’t need to be. Yet. We still don’t have very good WRs, at least consistent ones, and Kittle was slowed by injury as well.

    • willedav said, on October 13, 2019 at 8:35 pm

seems a little flinty under pressure. either he waits too long or doesn’t recognize how much trouble he is in. Doesn’t seem to have much mobility either. I just hate to see QBs move ball down the field and then screw up something in end zone and he did it twice. Yes coleman should have caught that one but he was so open G could have walked it over there and handed it to him.
      Running backs look great.

Still, NY Giants won the big one with Hostetler and their D.\My Redskin fan buddy reminds me Joe Gibbs has to be greatest coach ever for winning with likes of Mark Rypien.

  29. alleykat69 said, on October 13, 2019 at 9:00 pm

Let’s not forget the Ravens winning a SB with Trent Dilfer of all people, with of course a stifling defense..
