St. Loser

Embarrassing series for St. Louis. Where’s Goldy? Six K’s the last 2 games, one hit in the series. And Shilt keeps batting Fowler 1st. Fowler is terrible. What happened to “if they f**k with us, we f**k with them” whatever that expletive laden speech was all about. Maybe he should have said “If they f**k with us we will bend over willingly.” Can they salvage even a single game? Getting swept would have to set this franchise back a little, right? It has exposed many holes….

This will come down to the worse postseason series ever!! Just mercifully roll over St Louis in gm4 and go home..

If you look at how well Cards hit all season you’d wonder how they ever won division and got this far.
10th NL in runs 12th HRs 12th Slugging 11th OPS. DeJong and Golds got 30 bombs each but they still have to pay declining old guys Carpenter 2 more years at $18 mil and Molina his final $20 mil next year. and might lose Ozuna.

Still, they were plus 100 run differential because pitching was 2nd best in NL for ERA and many other stats. They gave up 19 fewer bombs than they hit. 2 of the SPs are 23/24 and 5 rotation guys made lot of starts.
Questions and holes sure/tough way to end season, but they took the division away from hated rival Cubs, made playoffs for first time in 4 yrs (?) and blasted Braves out of playoffs.

I will be surprised if the Cards can salvage even a game from this series. Who knows, if they miraculously win today, maybe they can find their mojo at home, but I sure as hell wouldn’t lay any money on it.

I don’t follow other clubs in detail throughout the year, so I have no idea as to any of these clubs’ strengths, or weaknesses. I do know the Cards led the league in steals. They play a brand of ball that is not often seen in this day of sabermetrics, and teams predominantly hitting home runs to win games.

Whichever way it all shakes out, I just want to see the NL kick the dog shit outta the Jr Circuit rep.

Just looked it up. Cards and Nats tied for NL lead in stolen bases with 116 each, so the Nats can match them in that area. Of course, Cards ain’t doing much running this series with only 11 hits in three games.

        Thanks, Mac.

If the Cardinals could get the refs from last night Detroit/Green Bay game to umpire the rest of the series they could comeback and win this series..

    • chipower9 said, on October 15, 2019 at 11:17 am

LOL, Kat. Yeah, Green Bay got that win handed to them on a fucking silver platter. That illegal hands to the face call near the end was total bullshit.

Flav’s right Fowler is terrible and Cards still owe him 2 more years/$33 mil, forgot about that. They always seem to come up with good young hitters, though some flame out like Bader did this season.

    • Flavor said, on October 15, 2019 at 11:02 am

Bader was never a hitter, might get hot here and there, but he’s really more of a “Duggar type”

      • willedav said, on October 15, 2019 at 12:08 pm

mm the Bader I remembered seeing when Cards came to SF Sept 2018, when they swept woeful Giants, looked pretty good. He was very fast, was hitting .270/.342/437 for .779 OPS and 12 HRs, pretty un Duggar like numbers. He’s fallen off quite a bit as you say.

  6. alleykat69 said, on October 15, 2019 at 11:23 am

Yikes 36 mil for 2 more years of Carpenter suckage?
That’s right up there with are own guys,Crawford,Belt, Longo,Posey damm it sucks to print out 4 names, and that didn’t include the Shark..
Z still has sleepless nights thinking about all these bad contracts.. Crawford’s the one that hurts the most,as the Giants now are stuck with the oldest slowest SS in baseball, with all his metrics taking a dive..

  7. willedav said, on October 15, 2019 at 12:18 pm

Pavs said Giants were interested in Wil Venable, would talk to Kapler, and mentioned Z did talk to Wotus and Meulens. Gotta wonder how many of current coaching staff a new guy would keep around if he were new to managing at this level like Kotsay (who was supposed to talk to Phils too).
Someone here Loo maybe said earlier, since Z knew 8 months ago he was hiring new mgr. has he made any progress in all this time?

  8. willedav said, on October 15, 2019 at 12:19 pm

Can nothing be announced per new hires (until what 5 days?) after World Series is over?

  9. alleykat69 said, on October 15, 2019 at 1:00 pm

I see it as since Z gave both Bam Bam and Wotus permission to look for other opportunities, he has no intention hiring one of them, the interviews were just a courtesy for all the years they’ve been here..

Didn’t the Cards complain that the balls weren’t juiced for the playoffs? Maybe MLB decided to flock with dem dirty birds.

      Lulz…

  11. chipower9 said, on October 15, 2019 at 1:44 pm

Just t’d up the game. See that the Stros/Cole got out a bases loaded jam in the 1st. Altuve with another bomb.

Gerrit Cole hasn’t loss a game since May.
18-0 and only 1start July 12th did the Astros lose one of his starts..Amazing, and now with a 2-0 lead it’s just above money in the bank he’s wins again..

    • Macdog said, on October 15, 2019 at 2:38 pm

      Don’t say that!

I really want the Cards to win tonight. Getting swept would be just such a puss move. Have some self respect.

The Yanks may have to move in the RF fence after Gregorius came just short of giving them the lead.

    • djloo27 said, on October 15, 2019 at 5:09 pm

Boone was asked in the PG and clearly implied they’re using a different ball…

      • Macdog said, on October 15, 2019 at 5:39 pm

Oh, but aren’t his batters supposed to be savages?

Jags came out great.2 First rd draft picks and a 4th for a malcontent..

Cards off to a puss start 2-0 and the Nats are hitting ropes off of Hudson.

  21. alleykat69 said, on October 15, 2019 at 5:29 pm

15 pitches in 5-0 pitcher gone.Comical of mistakes, can they just call the mercy rule??

  22. gianthead said, on October 15, 2019 at 5:30 pm

Who are these Cardinals???? Bitter pill for Daniel…Ozuna as a free agent little less expensive???

  23. Flavor said, on October 15, 2019 at 5:47 pm

they certainly didn’t deserve or earn it, but you have to think the Giants would have played the Nats tougher than this, right?

    • Macdog said, on October 15, 2019 at 5:51 pm

Couldn’t be any worse. Then again, out of all the contenders — Nats, Cards, Braves, Cubs — that beat up on the Giants over the last month, the Nats sweep at Oracle was extremely one-sided.

    • alleykat69 said, on October 15, 2019 at 6:04 pm

      Good question for Daniel.
Does your team suck more then the Giants?
Oh shit I guess not, their still playing, well not really..

  24. alleykat69 said, on October 15, 2019 at 6:00 pm

This Martinez guy looks like a total dork. You know your team sucks when he’s the only one hitting.
He sure has a lot of moving parts in the batters box, and what is he 6’7??

  25. PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on October 15, 2019 at 8:00 pm

Barring a remarkable comeback in the 9th, it looks like it just wasn’t in the Cards.

  26. Macdog said, on October 15, 2019 at 8:11 pm

Congrats to the Nats! The good news is we don’t have to watch TBS anymore.

  27. Bozo said, on October 15, 2019 at 8:18 pm

The Nationals just collectively flipped off Harper. Gotta love that.

  28. zumiee said, on October 15, 2019 at 8:47 pm

Parra is in the World Series. Maybin is in the ALCS.
    Baseball is a funny game.

  29. alleykat69 said, on October 15, 2019 at 9:19 pm

Parra has turned out to be a good luck charm for the Nats.He came up with this baby blue shark after he got 2 hits in a game,so the team bought into it and they hang it up on the netting on the dugout steps.Hey whatever works, baseball players are superstitious in nature, but this is working for them, so expect to see it hanging up in the W/S..
