Nat Sweep?

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 25, 2019

Will be surprised if Sanchez can shutdown the ‘Stros tonight but I’ve been surprised by this entire series. Kinda amusing that Houston jettisons their idiot assistant GM but the actual domestic abuser stands by at the ready. I would think that if you were worried about cleansing the team of bad juju you’d also get rid of Osuna. If they bring him in at some point this series you have to believe it’s going to be another blow to their team chemistry and their ability to win.

Warriors giving us a preview of who they are this year. KNBR guys a few days ago arguing about o/u 50 wins. Lol. Please. Even if they don’t deal with injuries (which is going to happen) they don’t have the players to win 50. They don’t have enough scorers, plain and simple……

yeah that was garbage time by late 3rd Q as Clips shredded what passed for defense. GS used to bring in unproven scrub guys young and old for a few minutes here and there, surrounded by AS. Now they start a couple of them and replace those that start with more unproven guys still trying to figure out how to play at this level.

KNBR guys were dissing him this morning but Barkley is right–crowd will not be the same. Chron 2 days ago had interesting column on how much more expensive Warriors have made attending a game there, even for high end season ticket holders–parking is $75 as opposed to free, having to spend tens of thousands ($75 grand for couple rows behind bench) on personal seat license, yada yada. End result some bailed altogether and others opted for seats higher up and farther away.

It happened when the GIants moved to Oracle. It was hipster city for about 5 years till the novelty wore off.

huh makes sense. Do you remember “the ramp” downstairs at Warrior games? Buddy of mine went in with family of his wife on seasons at the Coliseum and used to invite me with him. First time down there at halftime he had something to ready to go and it was crowded and I’m acting all surreptitious and he just laughs. Cops standing there, nobody cared.

Used to be able to walk right down to courtside and stand 10-15 feat away from behind basket to watch pregame warmups right outside the floor without being hustled off.

Oh yeah. Too funny. Standing there for 10 minutes, you’d be as high as everybody else. I just went there to smoke cigs when they banned that in the stands.

Crazy thing is, my wife-to-be and I got thrown out of Candlestick for toking one up behind the bleachers. I couldn’t fucking believe it. Opening day 1989. The 2 cops were both about 5’6″ little weasels (I;m 6’2″ and Kathy is 5’10”), and they got a huge kick out of cuffing us and walking us out of the bleachers all the way around the stadium from the left field foul pole to the right field foul pole and back to the holding cell near home plate.

During the half hour walk Kathy and I were just rolling with obscenities, short jokes, and all kinds of shit, Just railing on these 2 little punk-ass cops. I couldn’t stop laughing. The people we walked past were totally giving the cops shit. I let Kathy go on until we got to the station underneath the stands. That’s when I said “ok, just settle down, and we’ll get out of here. The guys behind the desk are the ones that can send us down to county, so ease up on the language.”

The 2 cops were going on and on about how nasty and abusive we were, but the guys behind the desk just laughed said, “they seem fine” and kicked us loose. Got to the Bit of England in time to watch the last 2 innings of the game.

$50.00 fine for both of us. Fucking weasels.

The ugly white guy commentator (Fred?) said 70% of the season ticket holders renewed. Seems real high.

Interior defense was non-existent. Cauley-Stein will help. A little. But this looks like a bad penny year already.

Even Curry’s pre game tunnel shot is now fucked up. Go look at the angle he has to take

  5. unca_chuck said, on October 25, 2019 at 9:26 am

Trump said he’d come to game 5, so that gives the Nats some impetus to sweep.

KNBR saying they Stros bench coach is strong contender for manager job. Interviewed yesterday in between games…

Cowboy Joe is suing Paul Lo Duca for this story:

Let it roll and there are some great Joe deals, including the stare down.

I always like a good Popeye Don Zimmer injection. With his bulging eyes&veins popping out of his tomato face about to have a brain aneurysm, just classic stuff!!

    • zumiee said, on October 25, 2019 at 3:40 pm

Zimmer trying to attack Pedro Martinez during a brawl was pretty surreal. To his credit, Zimmer apologized profusely after the event, and seemed really sorry he had done it. Plus he’d gotten tossed down like a bag of laundry.

  10. alleykat69 said, on October 25, 2019 at 4:06 pm

Yeah it wasn’t one of Zimmer’s finest moments, even Pedro didn’t want to have to throw the old man down, more liked he just slipped being old..

Neither was the 1962 season, which he began by going 0 for 34…

I would not be surprised if Anibal Sanchez pitches another good game even though he doesn’t have overpowering stuff for sure, but with him it’s all about location. He shutouts out the Cards on 1 hit in 7 2/3 innings. The game before that he gives up 1 run to the Dodgers on 5 hits in 6 innings?
He’s on a roll just like the Nats, if he’s on this series will be all but over after tonight for sure..

it’s really amazing that these Houston dipshits continue to get this wrong. It’s domestic fucking violence, how can you be a public entity, shit even just a human entity, and not understand this and/or continue to fuck it up?

Maybe I should watch more baseball. After Greinke gets the DP to end inning Fox plays a commercial with Screamin Jay Hawkins version of I Put a Spell on You, classic.

    • unca_chuck said, on October 25, 2019 at 7:08 pm

Like the Creedence version but that is Screamin’ Jay’s playground. Love that.

Altuve and Brantley again, awesome combo.

  16. unca_chuck said, on October 25, 2019 at 7:21 pm

For all that, Grienke isn’t pitching bad. Hope this bites them in the ass.

Peacock disposed of Parra pretty efficiently.
Parra batting in the 2019 World Series, lulz.

    Nats certainly getting their chances.

Wow. There’s some nutty umping going on tonight.

  20. zumiee said, on October 26, 2019 at 7:56 am

    No sweep!

  21. willedav said, on October 26, 2019 at 8:05 am

wondered about it at the time, but Martinez not hitting for Sanchez with Robles on 3b might have been what turned things around. Sanchez is terrible hitter and struck out trying to bunt, Turner grounded out Nats got just 1 run. then Sanchez gave up couple more later and Nats couldn’t get clutch hit they needed off Greinke or Stros pen, who dominated.

Greinke certainly bent quite a bit but did not break, clutch effort to hold Nats down and pen behind him was great.
