2-1

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 26, 2019

Kruk was on KNBR the other day saying “All I want is for the series to go 7.”

Jeez, more power to him. These games have been interminably long. And because I literally could care less who wins I’m missing several innings a game.

I need to stare out this damn window for a spell, look for Spring to start or winter to end or some shit.

1949 WS Yankees-Dodgers: Bums won Game 2 at Yankee Stadium, Yanks won next 3 and the Series at Ebbets Field.

1950 WS Yankees-Phillies: Yanks won first 2 at Shibe Park, then finished the sweep at home.

Yanks won 5 of the 6. The road streak was broken in ’51 by the Giants winning Game 1 at Yankee Stadium.

Kruk blows so much smoke up his ass he should be an assistant to Smoky the Bear..

Do they give MVP award for Championship series of the leagues? wondering if Altuve can repeat his performance vs. Yanks.
Photographer friend of mine who does photo shoots at Greaseland studio sent me clip from youtube entitled “Howlin Wolf 71”, in Chicago. It’s just fabulous, Wolf at a table knocking down budweisers talking mixed in with performance of him and band–Sunnyland slim Hubert Sumlin Dave Myers and Fred Below. Wolf sings blows harp and even plays some guitar through Evil, Going Down Slow couple other cuts. It’s about 25 minutes of great stuff.

Saw Sunnyland Slim mid 70s at this tiny club in downtown Redwood City right on Broadway near where the pool hall used to be, great show.

Back Door Man, Little Red Rooster, Killin’ Floor (Buddy Guy on acoustic)
      Lots of others; classic.
Howlin’ Wolf — on the Mt. Rushmore of the Blues.
      Simply raw and BADASS…

mrs. snarkk and I saw Buddy Guy around ’97 in a small Houston blues venue.
Two hours of straight ahead, gob smackin’, ass kickin’ blues by a guitar genius with mojo that night that could have powered a small city. Last 20 minutes straight he just wandered around the club from table to table greeting the fans, jammin’ on that guitar with his band, singin’ and gettin’ down. Easily the BEST live music event I’ve ever been to. Fantastic, mind blowing. And Hell, he was just over 60 — THEN. I believe he’s still touring. He’s a musical treasure; the old Brit ’60s rocker guitarists worship the dude…

Would have loved to have been around way back when to hear something like this from the Wolf in some Chicago blues dive. If you like the blues, youtube is great, this kinda stuff is just friggin’ gold…

I can see where Bochy doesn’t want to look like a smuck and take a year off especially with all the parting gifts he received, but damm why do some of these guys want to continue that grind? Its in their blood to not walk away? They don’t want to hang and bang their wives and need the space?

    • Flavor said, on October 26, 2019 at 12:49 pm

He’s probably banged her enough at this point. Lqtm

  5. snarkk said, on October 26, 2019 at 1:19 pm

Bochy’s been in organized pro ball since 1975. That’s nearly 45 years. He’s been married since ’78.
In pro ball, you’re basically gone/on the road/at spring training 9 months of the year. So, your wife is basically your long distance girlfriend. The nagging, the honey do’s, taking out the garbage, the spats, the time dealing with kids’ problems — you’re not home much to “enjoy” those parts of marriage. The rest of the time, you’re playing or managing a game, and getting paid for it, while carousing, drinking, and doing all manner of other things with your buds when you’re off somewhere on the road and not wearing a uni. Sounds like a darn good lifestyle that is hard to cut cold turkey after 45 years…

I was surprised how disjointed the Dubs looked…I dont think they will have a shot at a playoff spot this year and we will be lucky to avoid injuries to Steph and Draymond.

I’m still thinking they will need to do the unthinkable and trade Curry. They will need transformative young players and start the changeover. Poor Dubs fans that shelled out probably a small fortune for season tickets in the new building and let’s see if they can win more than 30 games…

Rendon is such a stud! 2 smashed balls down the 3 rd base line and handled them like Brooks “The vacuum cleaner” Robinson..

  8. willedav said, on October 26, 2019 at 6:09 pm

Brantley with another hit batting .500 in WS. Pitch him away and he whacks it into open spaces. Hope Belt is paying attention==you get a pitch even off the plate a little where pitcher is going away from his defense, stop umpiring and make them pay.
You guys who have been watching way more than I have-agree/disagree baseballs somehow less juiced or just random as MLB claims?

    • alleykat69 said, on October 26, 2019 at 6:17 pm

They look juiced when their hit on the screws like Chirinos bomb, other times not as much..

  9. willedav said, on October 26, 2019 at 6:13 pm

Boom from Chirinos! road team magic continues.

  10. alleykat69 said, on October 26, 2019 at 6:14 pm

    Washington we have a problem..

  11. zumiee said, on October 26, 2019 at 6:29 pm

Willie, I read pieces from a few sportswriters online who believe different baseballs are being used in the playoffs.

    • zumiee said, on October 26, 2019 at 6:31 pm

Some have already questioned MLB about it and have gotten the usual vague non-answers.

    • willedav said, on October 26, 2019 at 6:44 pm

players chimed in too I believe. I haven’t watched any post season at all til last night, so I wondered what you guys who I trust and respect and have been into it think. Guess nothing should surprise us about MLB machinations/denial of same.

  12. zumiee said, on October 26, 2019 at 6:34 pm

It’s ridiculous for a sport to do what baseball is doing, messing with the ball. It makes you wonder what we’re watching. Professional wrestling?

  13. alleykat69 said, on October 26, 2019 at 6:36 pm

Michael Brantley is sure in a nice groove. Now 7-14 in W/S ! Just jinxed him he’s just got robbed of hit number 8. Such a professional hitter, you don’t see with others on a daily basis..

  14. unca_chuck said, on October 26, 2019 at 6:44 pm

Washington is in dire shape. This game usually determines who wins.

    • zumiee said, on October 26, 2019 at 7:02 pm

It’s a reminder that the Astros really are the better team. The Nats’ Cinderella story is losing steam.

    • unca_chuck said, on October 26, 2019 at 7:13 pm

      Yup

  15. unca_chuck said, on October 26, 2019 at 7:04 pm

Is anyone else sick of Alissa & Aleah?

    • zumiee said, on October 26, 2019 at 7:31 pm

I have the volume turned pretty low. Just barely enough to hear a little crowd noise.

  18. willedav said, on October 26, 2019 at 7:23 pm

Nats score only 1 with bases loaded, then reliever walks lead off PH before Springer and top of lineup due.

  19. willedav said, on October 26, 2019 at 7:36 pm

Rodney you had feeling that was a bad move. Cue the Dangerfield jokes.

    Ahhh. funny shit

  26. unca_chuck said, on October 26, 2019 at 8:43 pm

Great story Willie. Friend of mine was getting married in northern Indiana back in 95 and 2 days before the wedding we ended up in Buddy Guy’s bar in Chicago. Fucking amazing. Stayed there from like 8 till 2:30. All of us got plowed. The first last and only time I have danced on a table. Buddy came out about 12:30 and played his ass off. Wish I could remember who was there that night. The only thing I remember is someone said Lonnie Smith and his son were there. Were they? Maybe.

    • willedav said, on October 27, 2019 at 8:30 am

ah too much man, dancing on the table. blues is still alive just not the same real guys who lived it. Thx to snark too for great clip on wolf. His voice alone is just something special.
My buddy who does photo shoots at Greaseland sends me clips of blues guys I’ve never heard of that record there, and they’re quite good. And as he says, quite old and broke.

I missed Jimmy Thackery playing in a tiny club in Auburn CA a few years back.So pissed.
