New Thread!

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on November 24, 2019

Sunday! That means we need a new thread and we’ve got a lot of football to watch. Niners in a weirdly tough game tonight, I don’t have a feel at all about how it will play out.

At least I can say this year that Cal football clearly smoked less pole than Stanfoo football.
First time in a long while I can say that; it feels good.
After having serious QB injury troubles all season, Cal’s still in line for a decent 7-5 finish if they can beat a bad UCLA team in the Rose Bowl this Saturday. Stanfoo will finish 4-8 after they get crushed this Sat by Notre Dame at the Farm in front of the few Stanfoo fans who give a crap, and a ton of Notre Dame fans…

Stanford, like all my other favorite teams, have won so much for me as a fan over the last 15 years or so I can’t even begin to give a shit about this down year. Wait for Cal to win something, anything of consequence. It will feel REAL good, trust me.

    • snarkk said, on November 24, 2019 at 11:07 am

Cal may never win anything of consequence in my remaining lifetime, in football. So be it — Cal fans celebrate when they can…

UCLA has decent offense, good QB and can score points, like lot of teams in Pac12. Also coming off L to hated rival USC, whose young QB threw for 500 yds and helped them score 52 points. Healthy Garbers would help Cal out a lot. And yes they are eligible to go bowling.
Speaking of USC, Sam Darnold is lighting up Raiders.

look deep into this chick’s eyes. She’s vacant. Literally nothing there. It’s bizarre.

    • willedav said, on November 24, 2019 at 11:18 am

yes, less looking into what’s there the better. Sure hope hubby can keep his job and be productive part of SF rotation. Spot’s are open and there for taking, or not.

This dude needs to get off the beach and get back to work on repeating his mechanics and getting his head on straight. He’s got this upcoming STraining to show he belongs and can fight out of jams without mentally imploding; else he needs to get traded for a bag o’ balls and a single A pitcher…

MLBTR says Meulens might be Beltran’s bench coach with Mets. Seems like good fit since Beltran hasn’t managed, has he? Plus he knows the drill of what he’s in for in NYC.
Any thoughts Beltran takes some of the heat coming to Astros over sign stealing?

Jets score in 4 plays second half, 20-3 over Raiders.

  6. willedav said, on November 24, 2019 at 11:50 am

Raiders must be the ones, seeing ghosts, of Broadway Joe. Maybe they make Heidi Bowl comeback.
Seem to recall a Lamonica to Warren Wells long game winning TD was against Jets.

  7. alleykat69 said, on November 24, 2019 at 12:02 pm

Mad Bomber Lamonica to Warren Wells dropping dimes were always exciting!!
Believe Cliff Branch said Wells was his idol when he joined the Raiders..

I wonder if the attempted rape conviction had anything to do with it…

  8. alleykat69 said, on November 24, 2019 at 2:28 pm

Yeah Wells sure did have his share of scrapes with the law, that’s why he was a perfect Raider in that hoodlum environment at the time…

Thanks for the Kings-related article, Blade. A real life Breaking Bad type of story. A very well done article.
I hadn’t heard anything about it. I feel very sorry for his wife and kids. I wonder if she’ll stay married to him.

    • zumiee said, on November 24, 2019 at 2:48 pm

The article is at the end of the previous thread. A Kings employee embezzled millions of dollars from the Kings before finally getting caught.

      • blade3colorado said, on November 24, 2019 at 5:29 pm

New thread? Who knew? I was just mumbling on . . . Anywho, Loo when you get a chance, go see my question. Too tired to ask again. G’night.

Only one I been to is Di Fara’s (about 2 miles away), which the Board of Health closes down periodically.
Never heard of the other 2 places. They’re a pretty long ways from me – in neighborhoods that have become unrecognizable to us leftover geezers. What made you pick those 3, Blade? I’m not too far from Spumoni Gardens, Totonno’s and Delmar which have big reputations. I’m not a pizza snob. Any neighborhood joint is okay with me.

I only have one memory of Stanford vs. Cal.

He and Keenan Allen are guys we shoulda got. Pisses me off.

  13. zumiee said, on November 24, 2019 at 7:29 pm

Sherman decided to start shoving receivers downfield. That’s against the rules. Someone might want to tell him.

    • unca_chuck said, on November 24, 2019 at 7:36 pm

That was stupid because Sherman already had him pinned to the sideline.

Loo, this guy (or site) says that the worst pizza in New York is still the best in the USA. He makes some compelling points about how it’s prepared in New York. Anyway, here is his article . . . https://www.thrillist.com/eat/new-york/the-best-pizza-in-new-york-city

    • unca_chuck said, on November 24, 2019 at 7:52 pm

Floppy, flat, and greasy ain’t all that.

      • djloo27 said, on November 24, 2019 at 8:19 pm

When are you coming here, Chuck?
        You’re overdue…

        Possibly next year, DJ

  15. unca_chuck said, on November 24, 2019 at 7:33 pm

Then again, Kittle ain’t so bad.

  16. unca_chuck said, on November 24, 2019 at 7:37 pm

I had 31-17. G Bay may not get there.

Niners are looking the best they’ve looked in many years.

WTF are all those seats vacant at tonight’s game! They can’t all be going to the head, etc.

      Buying overpriced food and drink.

  19. mrsprtdude said, on November 24, 2019 at 10:30 pm

    Great game. Defensive dominance!

Anyone else think it is lame MLB is cutting the minor leagues by 25%?

  20. zumiee said, on November 25, 2019 at 12:44 am

Kings had a nice win over the Wizards.

    • djloo27 said, on November 25, 2019 at 3:41 am

In other words, the Royals beat the Bullets…

      • willedav said, on November 25, 2019 at 8:02 am

Ha was thinking about Howard Porter the other day. I loved the 6-7 forward types in NBA who could shoot turnaround jump shots and baseline pull ups. Since I was 5-7, um didn’t work too well.

      • Macdog said, on November 25, 2019 at 8:46 am

The Bullets/Wizards started out as the Chicago Packers, later re-named Zephyrs, before moving to Baltimore.

  21. willedav said, on November 25, 2019 at 7:10 am

Jets might have single handedly ruined Raiders season. they are 6-5 go on road (where they’ve won 1 game all year) vs. KC next. Another L would be 6, and about end playoff hopes.

  22. chipower9 said, on November 25, 2019 at 7:29 am

Niners whoopin’ that Packer ass. What a dominant performance.

    Areas of mild concern:

Jimmy G’s inability to dump the ball when under duress.

The defensive penalties resulting in a first down.

Neither didn’t have an impact on this game, but could be an issue against the Ravens.

Still 10-1, baby. That D is a monster.

    • willedav said, on November 25, 2019 at 7:58 am

monster D yes. speed of LBs and tackling, also by secondary. Nice to see Jimmy Ward able to contribute. He was all over the field. One down 2 big ones to go.

  23. alleykat69 said, on November 25, 2019 at 8:36 am

Right out of the gate this Stud player got it rolling for the 49ers.His name and he doesn’t get enough recognition around the league is LB Fred Warner who stripped sacked Rogers to setup the 49ers at the 3!! Also had 10 tackles to lead the team..
He’s everything they were hoping Ruben Foster would of turned into and more. Can’t teach heart and the desire to succeed!

  24. unca_chuck said, on November 25, 2019 at 9:21 am

Yeah, he’s pretty badass. Led the team as a rook in tackles by over 50. THis defense is alot fast than last year’s. Even with Alexander and Ford out.

  25. unca_chuck said, on November 25, 2019 at 9:59 am

In case yer interested, here’s a bio of Greg Johnson. He’s Charlie’s son. There shouldn’t be a firewall.
