On The Cusp of Six

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on January 19, 2020

Woke up today feeling not as confident as the days leading up. This is Aaron freaking Rodgers. We’re doomed. He’s gonna sit behind a rock solid line, scan the field and have his pick of receiving options before rifling a laser pass to a pinpoint target.

Just kidding. We’re gonna smoke these fuckers.

Full steam ahead to Super Bowl 54…

Freezing cold in KC today, that’ll help the running game a little insofar as it might negatively affect the passing game a little. Starting to think King Henry can run on the Chiefs and if that happens maybe we got a game there????

My buddy and I just returned from a trip to Thailand earlier this week. He “prays at the altar of the Packers,” being a life long fan going back to his days living in Wisconsin.

That being said, he’s a realist and said that the Packers offensive line will be overwhelmed by the 49ers defensive front and Rodgers does not have the receivers to keep up. Only legit receiver – Adams – is not a speed burner and moreover, will be keyed on by the 49ers defensive back field. The rest of them (Lazard, Kumerow, Graham) are “just guys” or over the hill (Graham). The only real weapon besides Adams, is Jones at RB. In any event, as you said, my buddy thinks they’re going to get “smoked” too.

Katie Sowers is on the 49ers’ coaching staff.
    Huff hates that, no doubt.

    • djloo27 said, on January 19, 2020 at 8:16 am

He probably hated being announced by Renel…

    • Bozo said, on January 19, 2020 at 10:27 am

I’d bet he doesn’t get laid much these days.

    • chipower9 said, on January 19, 2020 at 12:54 pm

      Did she steal his thong?

  4. willedav said, on January 19, 2020 at 8:37 am

yeah brutal cold in KC, see how that impacts flow of game. I know Niners smoked them first time around and were all over Rodgers. would be surprised if that happened again.

  5. djloo27 said, on January 19, 2020 at 8:59 am

Neither Henry or Mahomes can be stopped.
Turnovers and special teams might decide this one.
    GB -SF is more complicated…

    • Flavor said, on January 19, 2020 at 9:03 am

my pick for random guy to score a long td (or 2) today is Mecole. I have no idea why Robinson keeps getting more snaps than him but Robinson can’t hold Mecole’s jockstrap. Maybe all those drops last week finally gets Hardman more snaps.

      • djloo27 said, on January 19, 2020 at 9:33 am

Completely agree – and they only drafted him because it looked like Tyreek was in trouble…

  6. Flavor said, on January 19, 2020 at 9:05 am

seriously this dude might have too much money. Who am I kidding, I’d probably use it the same way if I was in the same position.

  7. Flavor said, on January 19, 2020 at 9:13 am

I love watching this stuff. I didn’t play football so while this may seem elementary to some it really helps me understand the game on a different level. Cosell is the best, I could watch these quick clips all day.

    • willedav said, on January 19, 2020 at 9:59 am

thx. when something works like this in run game, just the way you draw it up, it looks so easy.
And by contrast when your helpless QB is getting thrashed in seconds by blitz/pass rush you wonder what could have been done against it

    • chipower9 said, on January 19, 2020 at 12:56 pm

      Love Cosell and his breakdown.

  8. alleykat69 said, on January 19, 2020 at 10:33 am

If you send to many receivers out on a pattern (4man slot&TE) yes it effects the OL with not enough blockers and then you have to make sure the RB does his job picking up a blitzer. Its always a chess match between OC&DC to get an advantage..

  9. alleykat69 said, on January 19, 2020 at 10:44 am

Man I could make a road trip to KC just for those “Bomb” Baby Back Ribs they are famous for!

  10. Flavor said, on January 19, 2020 at 10:52 am

time to break this streak, aye Loo?

  11. Flavor said, on January 19, 2020 at 10:55 am

I didn’t even know this was an actual song. All my life I thought this was just some shit people sang when it started raining, lol

Song was sung in Butch Cassidy&Sundance Kid with a hot Katherine Ross riding on the handlebars of the wave of the future a bicycle ridden by Paul Newman..
50 years ago Wow 😳 that’s along time between SB appearances.I’ll root for Loo for them to get there, but they have to lose to my 49ers in they’re “Drive for Six”

Super Bowl I was in the LA Coliseum on Jan 15, 1967.
LBJ was president, and the Vietnam War was on full blast with about 400,000 men in country.
The Doors had just released their initial, eponymous album on January 4, containing “Light My Fire” and “The End”.
    I may have been in 4th grade…

Going on in the early/mid ’70s to produce “The Streets of San Francisco”, with Karl Malden and a very young Michael Douglas.
I just finished watching a short series on Netflix called The Kominsky Method with Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin. Douglas plays an acting teacher in LA. First season is funnier than hell, especially if you’re 55+…

one of first rock songs every 1954 Hank Ballard “work with me annie” and the answer song to that (title was changed to accommodate sensors) was Etta James “roll with me Henry.”
looks like that’s Titans plan today.

  17. alleykat69 said, on January 19, 2020 at 12:32 pm

Titans looking sharp up 10-0 but so did Texans early last week.

  18. chipower9 said, on January 19, 2020 at 12:52 pm

When I first started reading the thread, I thought you’d fallen and knocked your head, Flav. 😂 In all seriousness, and not just because I am a Niner fan, but the Niners are a better football team. If they take care of the ball (no turnovers)…they win.

    Can’t wait…let’s rumble!

    • snarkk said, on January 19, 2020 at 1:01 pm

Niners should not lose this game on talent.
If they go down -3 or -4 on turnover battle, well, then that’s how GB has a path to win…

  19. chipower9 said, on January 19, 2020 at 1:05 pm

Titans are looking real. Eight minute drive and back to a 10 point lead. Damn.

  20. chipower9 said, on January 19, 2020 at 1:14 pm

And KC punches back. Could be a shoot-out…

  21. chipower9 said, on January 19, 2020 at 1:29 pm

    Holy fuck! Mahomes…

  22. alleykat69 said, on January 19, 2020 at 1:30 pm

I don’t think Titans will shit in their pants like Texans did last week, this game goes down to the end!
And as I’m typing Mahomes goes full Steve Young on that run..

  23. Macdog said, on January 19, 2020 at 1:34 pm

The LSU game turned on a big QB run late in the 1st half. Maybe this one, too.

  27. chipower9 said, on January 19, 2020 at 3:30 pm

    What a joke of a game…

    • alleykat69 said, on January 19, 2020 at 5:14 pm

They are that good.KC will have difficulty stopping the run game. But Mahomes with his mobility and weapons will still make this a very exciting game.

  32. Bozo said, on January 19, 2020 at 5:02 pm

Hoping Coleman is OK (shoulder injury).

So what am I supposed to do for the next 2 weeks?
I have no experience with this stuff.
Any prop bets on Tyreek Hill getting in trouble during SB week?

  39. djloo27 said, on January 19, 2020 at 5:26 pm

What do you think the line will be?
I’d say SF -3 for openers.
    O/U: 52.5?

    • chipower9 said, on January 19, 2020 at 5:31 pm

Niners have to close this out, first. But if we get there, yeah, maybe 3.5. I think you’re right there on the O/U.

  40. chipower9 said, on January 19, 2020 at 5:30 pm

Coleman out for remainder of this game.

My daughter is a huge Packer fan. Have not heard from her.

    • blade3colorado said, on January 20, 2020 at 4:32 am

Not his style. Like I said above, he never talks shit, especially when his team has zero chance. Conversely, I have about a half dozen Raider friends that talk shit every fucking season, despite being in the frickin’ wilderness for the last 2 decades. That’s weak.

  42. chipower9 said, on January 19, 2020 at 5:43 pm

FOUR for Mostert! BOOM! Smoke it Pack.

  43. alleykat69 said, on January 19, 2020 at 5:43 pm

What a game for Rasheem Mosert!
    4 Freakin TD’s!!
No need to pass the ball with they’re dominating run game!!

  44. djloo27 said, on January 19, 2020 at 6:06 pm

One advantage KC backers will make a big deal out of is that they’ve been more battle tested than the 49ers who coasted in…

    • Flavor said, on January 19, 2020 at 6:57 pm

That would be a mistake. Go look at the last 4 or 5 regular season games and tell me that’s not battle tested shit

      • djloo27 said, on January 19, 2020 at 7:00 pm

        I believe you…

      • chipower9 said, on January 19, 2020 at 7:15 pm

Agree with Flav. Niners won five games against solid teams that were decided in like the last 10 seconds, or last play (Ravens, Saints, Lambs, and Seahawks twice). Niners are battle tested.

  45. snarkk said, on January 19, 2020 at 6:14 pm

Shanahan needs to let the offense play to win, not to just run clock…

  46. djloo27 said, on January 19, 2020 at 6:23 pm

Two national commercials (H & R Block and Heineken) both using Isley Brothers “It’s Your Thing” as background music. Just something else to get on my nerves…

  47. gianthead said, on January 19, 2020 at 6:46 pm

I pussed out and didnt go KC and Niners straight parlay…teased them and win back my Ravens loss. Now to hedge my Niners winning the super bowl bet at the start of the season with a little on KC…Niners assume will be about 3 pt fav..

  48. gianthead said, on January 19, 2020 at 6:47 pm

    Mostert is a baaaaaaaad maaaaaannnnn

    • chipower9 said, on January 19, 2020 at 7:17 pm

      • gianthead said, on January 19, 2020 at 7:01 pm

  59. willedav said, on January 19, 2020 at 7:21 pm

I will say this–guy like Mahomes is never out of a game. Niners didn’t have problem moving the ball or scoring on Seattle, it was stopping the mobile Wilson and Co, which they only did by inches. And KC has lot more weapons to work with around Mahomes than Wilson did.
    Still…

    • chipower9 said, on January 19, 2020 at 7:34 pm

True, WillieD, and the flip-side of that discussion is that KC hasn’t seen a D like the Niners, and Niners have the fourth rated offense. Should be a helluva game.

      • willedav said, on January 19, 2020 at 8:25 pm

Niners D is healthier too than when they were playing seattle. another 2 weeks will surely help.

KC highlight for me was watching Tiny Nate Archibald (and Sam Lacey) in their blue KC/O unis in early and mid 70s play warriors here. Man he was blur, and could do everything–shoot outside drive to the rim, pass and knock down FTs. Led league in scoring avg. 34 and in assists same year. Plus, b-ball reference lists him at 6-1 but he might not have been even 5-10. Before he tore achilles he was tremendous.
