A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Feels Great, Baby!

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on January 20, 2020

I used to take this shit for granted. Back when I was a kid we’d break off Super Bowl wins like a damn Kit Kat bar. Then, many years passed. Harbs got us there in 2012 and I just figured we’d win another one because that’s what we do. Reality set in hard as Kap threw a desperate floater to Crabtree. And we had finally tasted defeat.

Seven more years clicked by and we find ourselves back again. Wiser now, I don’t take this berth for granted nor do I confidently expect a win. Dark questions remain unanswered. How will old-ass Richard Sherman keep track of Tyreke Hill flickering around the field? I can barely keep track of him with my eyes. How can we possibly stop the great Maholmes who is Russell Wilson only taller with a better arm? And we cannot stop Russell Wilson…

I don’t have the answers to those questions, my friends. What I know is that I won’t take this game for granted. Unless Joe and Ronnie and Jerry and Keena are on the field, there are no guarantees. So I will bask and appreciate every moment. Win or lose.

Now, a quick comment on the current POTD. Loo, this isn’t even close to the same thing as Rooster. I hate the Dodgers and celebrate every sadness Rooster has in his life. There are so many. But truth be told, I actually like KC a lot. They are so fun to watch. And if my Niners can’t nail down #6 I would be happy as hell for you, a Hall of Fame Flapper, to get the win.

So I get to watch this game with serenity and contentment. Either there will be a preferred outcome or a tolerable outcome. I will celebrate either, just with different levels of joy…..

This looks to be a high scoring 41-38 type of game. The TV network will love it, and the nation will be entertained.

I think our Defense is just going to dominate and KC will be sucked into thinking they just need to stop Mostert and Kittle and Deebo and dont forget Emmanuel Sanders will just be picking off the KC secondary. Kittle as MVP?

For you horse racing aficionados, you may have had discussions about these deaths in Santa Anita previously, but see there were three more there. What the hell has been happening? In my year and half going to Keeneland, maybe about 10 weeks of racing, dont recall a single death back in 90-91….

    • Flavor said, on January 20, 2020 at 8:24 am

I actually haven’t heard about these new deaths but the bottom line is that SA went through a combo of some terrible luck AND they needed to fix their track. Personally, my solution to the spike in horse racing deaths is to go 100% turf racing in America. It would cut down DRASTICALLY on deaths. Also, less racing days. There are other things going on as well, would take too long to get into here. Also, there were deaths at keenland back when you were going, there are deaths in this sport. Thankfully, there are things the racing industry can do to lower the risks they just have to get it done.

great wiki article on 1969 KC Chiefs. 9 HOFers including Coach Stram . in 3 playoff games no one scored more than 7 points against their defense, a record, as they beat Jets in NY and then Raiders here (who were responsible for 2 of 3 games they lost during regular season) and then stuffed Vikes. Had to use backup QB a lot that season too.
#21 in the pic from yesterday is USC running back Mike Garrett.
good stuff. was Raider fan those days but Chiefs had awesome talent across the board and football was fun.

I could not care less about the guy if we never heard from him again, but here’s a question about Rooster—how far back did he go? There were lot of trolls and odd guys on the old Splash; was he ragging on Twin in those days?

    • djloo27 said, on January 20, 2020 at 1:08 pm

He goes waaaaay back. He originally posted under the name “giantlosers” I think. During one of their battles, Twin called him a “gloating rooster” and he adopted that name which he shortened to “roooster” when he migrated over here. Twin also addressed him as “capon” which was pretty damn funny…

Yeah, KC was my favorite AFL team back in the day. If they win, it would suck, but it would hurt less than another Pats or Steelers win would.

I don’t think Mahomes can throw from from his back though, so we have to keep up the pressure and keep him as contained as possible in the pocket. He will get some big plays, but if we can run and keep him off the field we will be fine.

KC was 26th vs the run. If they stack the line, we pass.

    • snarkk said, on January 20, 2020 at 12:13 pm

Apparently Mahomes is much better at passing when rolling right, not left. So, use that double stack of Bosa and Ford on the L side of D line to keep him always rolling to his left, if he’s flushed from the pocket…

The #1 reason why the Beatles are so great is you can play their songs by yourself on an acoustic guitar or piano and the greatness of the songwriting shines through so well.
The woman in this video does a nice job on this song Lennon wrote. For everyone in the nation today who slept in this morning:

    • djloo27 said, on January 20, 2020 at 2:50 pm

When did “sleeping late” become “sleeping in” and who decided this?

Feels Great Baby!! Yes it does,I’m very proud of this new regime and they’re remarkable turnaround in only 3 years under the Shanny&Lynch show. Patience a huge key and 6 year contracts don’t hurt either, so even Jed to his credit finally figured it out and took a back seat.Starts by weeding out players that we’re not going to work in the system, then making great F/A are trades for Ford,Alexander,Sanders, and Sherman for leadership (and hell he’s all pro again) and add a fantastic draft with Bosa,Samuel,Greenlaw, hell even the new punter has been rock solid.

This organization is back to the glory days of the 80’s and it should be a one hell of a ride for many years again, cause Shanny is the modern day Bill Walsh with his game calling and they’re defense under Saleh is swarming all over the field,so let the good times roll as theirs “Nuthin Finer Then Being a Niner Fan”

Remember when all the media was all over Hot Shot Dan Marino to lead the Dolphins over the 49ers in the SB? Yeah How did that work out? 😂
Same thing with the latest Hot Shot Mahomes. The defense will rattle him,( maybe a designated spy as well) they have no run game to speak of, so Mahomes like Marino will have to toss the ball 50 times are so, which usually leads to disaster.
49ers can also draw off of their 6 SB appearances winning 5 , the Chiefs? 1 time 50 years ago when we first landed on the moon 🌝

    • snarkk said, on January 20, 2020 at 12:36 pm

I actually went to a SB event the week immediately prior to the game that was held at the Oakland downtown Marriott. Can’t remember exactly what it was, but it was cool. Marino and the 3 squirrels or whoever those WRs were called at the time, and the Killer Bs defense, were supposed to smother the Niners. Sure. Niners blitzed ’em in the first half, and the second half was just countdown to coronation. Walsh was coaching at 3D level, while Shula was wondering which steak sauce to cut with water at his steakhouses…

      Nice read Loo!
I vaguely remember Len Dawson was under scrutiny back then by the NFL,just wasn’t sure what it was about.
“Donnie Dice Dawson”( no relation) what a great name,Dice 🎲after serving a prison term moving to Vegas in the late 70’s, a perfect place with that name.I bet he was a regular at the Craps table up until his death..

Ah, the NBA as it is nowadays….
The Kings and the Heat fire up endless 3-pointers, and the score at the end of the 1st quarter is…..24-21.

Despite a report after Sunday’s NFC Championship that the San Francisco 49ers would push to wear their all-white throwback uniforms in Super Bowl LIV, they’ll be wearing their usual road uniform.

According to NBCSports Bay Area, the 49ers will be in their standard white jersey and gold pants for the February 2 game.

The Kansas City Chiefs are the “home” team for the game and will wear their red jerseys. The home team designation flips back and forth between the two conferences.

The last two times the Niners wore the white top/gold pant combination in the Super Bowl, in Super Bowl XVI against Cincinnati and Super Bowl XXIV against Denver, they won the championship.

It is unclear if San Francisco petitioned the NFL to wear its all-white throwback uniforms.

The Athletic reported on Sunday night that the team would make a push to wear those uniforms (which they wore in Week 17 this season) in the Super Bowl.

The all-white uniforms are the kits San Francisco wore in the 1994 season, the NFL’s 75th anniversary season, when teams wore throwbacks in designated weeks. But when the Niners went on a winning streak, they continued wearing them, including in Super Bowl XXIX when they beat the San Diego Chargers.

      That’s today’s NBA.
The Warriors are really the only team that made it work shooting a lot of 3s.

I’ve gotten a lot of cool giveaways at games over the years. One of them is a 5 foot by 3 foot cloth banner photo collage of 2010 playoff moments that I put on a wall as a poster.
Lots of bobble heads and action figurines.
    And a cool sombrero! 🙂

So what if we’re 37 games out. Look at this cool Gorkys Hernandez gnome…

Still have 2 sombreros! One of them looks like the Hawaiian Punch hat as the entire outside ring came off.
